  • Non-essential services like retail stores and shopping centres have had to shut down temporarily to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Many people are wondering what our shopping experience will look like once lockdowns are lifted. Experts tell us that measures like contactless shopping and curbside pick up are likely to continue and we may see changes to way we navigate stores.

      You know what a Universal income is?

    • @aureliuszeta3037
      @aureliuszeta3037 4 года назад +3

      @5kayonekiller Universal income is the concept that all citizens get a fixed amount of money to pay for basic living expenses, and have jobs to supplement their income.
      Thus, you'll never be in the situation of having to decide between rent, food, medical expenses and gas money, only choosing a few and forgoing the rest. No more "do I starve or pay the rent?"
      It will also allow people to have time for their families or pursue higher education for better jobs. More flexibility for a higher quality of life. The fine details would have to be tweaked by the policymakers for this to be viable.

    • @aureliuszeta3037
      @aureliuszeta3037 4 года назад +1

      @5kayonekiller Nope, not communism. It's closer to socialism, they're not the same thing.
      Universal income would get you the bare minimum to survive, but you can get more by having a job in whatever field. The job income will vary greatly amongst people, so some people will have more than others, but there's wiggle room.
      Universal income (basic stuff) + Job income (extra money for other things)
      Communism would mean everybody's income is exactly the same, and you're not allowed more and personal property isn't a thing.

    • @matthewcabanasaddley9849
      @matthewcabanasaddley9849 4 года назад

      @@aureliuszeta3037 Socialism and communism are the same and they don't mean everyone's income is the same, it means the state controls the means of production. A universal basic income is neither socialist nor communist since private ownership of enterprise is both still allowed and indeed encouraged.

    It wont be a permanent change. Social distancing is temporary. Remember there have been pandemics before and we went back to the way we lived before, because we were not keeping distance permanently through our history.

    • @carlam4986
      @carlam4986 4 года назад +8

      I agree it isn't permanent, but I do think things will change. Malls and retailers were already trying to increase online sales over in store sales. Warehouses are more economical to run. I work in a mall that has seen a big decrease in store fronts. With social distancing measures I suspect many companies will find the expensive floor space, payroll and overhead not worth while. The difference between this pandemic and ones of the past is the internet.

      this will be a permanent change. this whole global lockdown has never happened in human history ever, even during the spanish flu(which you cannot compare to because it came on the heels of a world war that destroyed europe and had millions of diseased and weakened men spreading the virus across destroyed countries with non existent infastructures and it was also 102 years ago...) this is all a expensive experiment the so called elites and experts are perpetrating upon the masses. if you look at the new numbers or even just take a look where this virus is supposedly rampaging hard in(elderly long term care homes) then you'd know it doesnt justify the shutting down of the global economy and the forced house arrest(its actually voluntary but they dont like telling you that) of the healthy population. how can you spew ignorance when these 'experts' and media keep beating you on the head with the fact that this is the new normal? all of these draconian measures like socialist distancing or orwellian spying apps they want you to download on your phone? the economy has been trashed so that already guarantees things wont return to the normal you knew anyways. people need to stop being so naive.

    Germs are nothing new people. This had gotten way out of control. How many times before this pandemic happened did you have a cold and cough or sneeze into the air. How many times did your kids come home from school with notes about something going around. How many times did you go into a public restroom that was dirty and unsanitary.
    This pandemic had turned us so paranoid that we even are fine with our freedoms being taken away from us. It amazes me that we just celebrated VE Day, which I am sure most Canadians had no idea, and we have become so complacent about our right and freedom's being infringed upon.

      Online retail, Amazon, cashless society, it’s all part of globalization. I’m amazed people can’t see through this. It’s all part of getting us to subtly slip into apathy, just send us our weekly govt scrip so we can spend it at the company store.

      @@StufiBuy how is ordering on Amazon and using a credit/debit card going to make anyone slip into apathy? These things have been around long before the pandemic, except back then we also had international travel, outsourcing, trade, real estate, etc. After the pandemic these things are being heavily restricted.
      If anything, the de-globalizing effect of the pandemic has been making people slip into apathy. Knowing that you can't travel, go on a vacation, enjoy your time abroad, or do business abroad has been taking a toll on people.

    • @StufiBuy

      The video pushes online shopping, online shopping naturally leads to even greater monopolization of industry, monopolization equals control.
      You honestly can’t see anything wrong with buying all of your necessities just a few conglomerates who only accept credit cards and who mail you those necessities by way of a federally controlled mail service? Nothing about that makes you think uneasy?
      These suggested measures will further destroy small business and frighten people away from peaceful assembly and protest. Whether that’s their intended purpose I can’t say.
