I buy anything that comes in a package from Walmart, then jump over to a local grocer for fresh food. This allows us to hit a sweet spot saving money and eating well. Formerly did all our shopping at Publix but the prices just can no longer be ignored.
I buy my vegetables from Walmart due to prices, but buy most other groceries at Publix. The food at Publix is much higher quality. Their bakery section is miles better than walmart.
@@candy2325 it was so much cheaper pre pandemic than whole foods. i stopped shopping there except for the meats and vegetables. almost on point with aldi
I tried grocery pickup first at Walmart but every time, something was wrong in my order and I was required to go to customer service inside where the line was always long and the desk staffed by 1 person. I switched to Kroger and experienced the best customer service and never had a problem with getting my items. I may pay a little more at Kroger but I can take advantage of their coupons and fuel points. I’d rather pay a little bit more and save the time and energy.
Kroger customer service always sucks too however as the 10 people in front of you in line apparently have to send Western Union at at last 5 minutes per transaction if not 10. I’ve reached the point I don’t even bother.
Investing in stocks is like planting a tree: you don’t see immediate growth, but with time, dedication, and patience, it can become something powerful. The greatest returns come from holding, understanding the value within each investment, and nurturing it consistently over the years.
Investing in Walmart stock has proven profitable due to its consistent growth, stability, and dividends. While it may not deliver quick gains, Walmart's resilience and steady performance highlight the value of patience and a diversified portfolio, much like nurturing a long-term investment for enduring returns.
You're absolutely right. I tried investing on my own for a while, but the market just wasn't working in my favor. Eventually, I hired an advisor, even though I was hesitant at first. To my surprise, I ended up beating the market by more than 25%. At first, I thought it was just luck, but it happened again the following year. Since then, I've stuck with having an analyst handle my investments.
ALDI: The budget brother of Trader Joe's. A Germany-based company (hence better quality ingredients in the products). The FDA's food regulations are a joke compared to Europe's. "Generally recognized as safe" means nothing. Just because people aren't rich enough to shop at Wegmans or Whole Foods doesn't mean they should have to settle for ultra-processed imitation food full of cheap ingredients and harmful additives, which is what comprises 70% of the food products in the typical American grocery store. A sad state of affairs indeed.
@tecknixx "Bland"? What exactly are YOU buying? (Certainly not the raw, fresh ingredients for cooking your own food with, which is what I shop there for...) Hyperpalatability is a quality of ultra-processed foods, which are designed to be addicting. It's called the "Dorito effect". People who have subsisted on a diet of hyperpalatable, artificially-flavored fake food will have to become reacquainted with the taste of natural food and learn to appreciate it.
My best friend owns a local grocery store in a mid-size metropolitan area. There are a lot of products that Walmart actually sells cheaper in their stores than he can buy it from his own suppliers from. Milk in the video is a good example, it is about $1.50 less per gallon at walmart than his own suppliers will sell it to him at. Bananas are his top selling produce item and he buys them by the crate from walmart because they are 25¢ per pound less than he can buy them direct from Dole, for the same bananas. So he actually buys from Walmart and resells at his own store. His store targets more affluent shoppers and it was incredibly successful even up into the pandemic. But since 2021 sales have plummetted and he said a lot of his regulars have started buying more and more at walmart because of prices and only shop with him for a few specialty items or local items that only he has. So his average order size has dropped significantly meaning people are buying the bulk of their groceries at places like walmart. And this is from an almost exclusively affluent customer-base.
@@Jean.A.squirrel small biz also hurt themselves. Have you ever shopped at a local farmer market? they grow their own yet they charge an arm and a leg. Big Chain can scale in size but that often come with cost of managing and transportation. In places like China, local grown farmer sells veg and fruits at a local market much cheaper than big chain. Here in the US, big chain sells cheaper than local market. You gotta wonder why some small grocery stores fail. I admit that local farmer market tend to be more fresh and stuff, and yes, i had supported local for a long time. I kept on contributing but local isn't giving back to the community. Part of supporting local is to keep local thriving, but local farmer market tends to upcharge for "fresher". Local people want to support local hoping they weed out the middlemen upcharge yet ends up being screwed by local farmer anyway. Might as well weed out the local farmer and let them sell to places like wal-mart and then resold back to me at a lower price. sigh~ gotta give and take. Often enough people forgot the human side of the businesses, this is very detrimental to any business.
High volume & Efficiently handling transportation cost is the key... Transportation becomes cheaper for manufacturers if Sellers buy in huge bulks...big businesses have advantage 😐
@@Jean.A.squirrel I don't want to see their cost, I want to see their profit which I can't see. The cost you mentioned are applicable to farmers selling to big chains. Not all things are shipped oversea. Local farmer market also sells things they don't grow themselves, those items often are more expensive than chains too. I wouldn't be surprised if you add up enough farmer market to match the revenue of that of walmart, and notice profit on these combined market is more than walmart. Don't try to be smart here. 12 hour day? oh lord, it's not always the owners that are doing the 12 hours. A lot of office workers do 12 hours when they factor in commutes and their side jobs, not all of them are making what farmer market owners are making. Don't give me that 12 hour argument, there are a lot of people in the US working more than 10 hours a day to survive. If local market can't cut out middlemen cost, there is something wrong. It's either big chains are selling at a loss, or a specific local market is riding on the meme and making a lot of money.
but they still got compete with places on-line and target meijer and many other food chain grocery store's. Amazon, Costco, Kroger, Target, Alibaba, Walgreens, Home Depot, Best Buy, CVS Health Corp., Whole Foods, Carrefour Group, IKEA, Tesco, Kohl's Corp., and Instacart look at all of that competition where is this corporate consolidation idea coming from?
Bad city planning also kills businesses, for example: mixed use suburbs. Small stores can survive there because if you can buy groceries with a 5 minutes walk you wouldn't mind paying a little more, but if you already have to drive why not go to the cheaper place.
We had a lidl open down the street from audi. In less than a year lidl was gone. It would have done better opening in a completely different part of town. Not a 5 minute walk away.
Another way to put this: Car orientated development is a *huge* government subsidy that helps places like Wal-Mart stay profitable and maintain their dominance.
I've actually noticed the opposite. WM is getting higher on groceries then my local grocery store. While WM saves me on some things I've noticed that on groceries there is little difference and at times I end up paying more shopping at Walmart then I would if I shopped at my local grocery store.
My local grocery: when a specific item is on sale, it’s less expensive than walmart. plus my grocery store has additional coupons to add onto something which may already be on sale, and you can tack that on. and they all give rewards towards future purchases. i just look at the website, and compare before i set out to shop. i look at the prices at costco and i am able to do the best i can, while growing vegetables myself. Walmart sucks. Too bad so many just go there for everything
One factor, I think, is that Walmart essentially has no competition any longer. They hold all the leverage over suppliers. I worked for a company that did merchandising in Walmart. This was several years ago. Walmart brought in representatives from the big beverage companies and demanded that they eat an increase in the cost of their products so Walmart could retain the same margin without raising their prices. One of the companies refused. By close of business the next day, Walmart had taken down all of the secondary displays of that company's products, leaving their only representation in the various coolers throughout the store or in the warm beverage home location. The beverage company bent the knee a mere couple of days later, after which their secondary locations were restored. Walmart could not get away with doing that if their retail segment had healthy competition.
that is basic business and not illegal, please advise what this idea in your head of healthy competition. Cut the non sense, they is zero workable solution just average people crying about business. If your a supplier and I request a decrease and you do not then I have the right to take your advertisement out of my stores. No one is forced to do anything but the company want the advertising in the store so they changed their decision. The cost risk was an issue and even with other businesses they still had an opportunity to gain value in other aspects. Again this is business, what else do you prefer commie or socialist methods instead. Make it fair and pass a equal opportunity act because WalMart is an oppressor they are a bigger company which trades in volume.
I never said anything about it being illegal. I did say that the relationship is one-sided in Walmart's favor and I stand by that statement. I should also say that I began calling on Walmart as a sale/service representative in 1985. They had real competition back then, and they were FAR more willing to compromise with a supplier then than they are now. That's just a fact.@@The_Love_Doctor_Sean
No, it's more like "I can do this because you have no alternative." As I've said, I've worked in Walmart since 1985 and I can guarantee you, kid, that it wasn't always this way.@@devilselbow
I think Wal-Mart is a wonderful place for free groceries. Heck, all the staff are so abused, they usually don't pay attention as you stroll out with several free items, THANKS WAL-MART ❤ Edit: after all, it's just business
H-E-B is truly a force to be reckoned with. They excel in quality, surpassing Walmart's freshness. While slightly pricier, their regular deals and coupons make it unmatched in value.
i don't understand the obsession with HEB their quality might be slightly better than walmart, but ultimately still the same garbage, their fruit is full of wax..
We're lucky to have a Winco in our area. They often can match Walmart's prices, and more often than not can beat their prices. And their produce quality is far superior to what Walmart can offer.
Winco sucks. Their management raises money to lobby and OPPOSE a "bottle bill" in any state, such as Idaho, so that they won't have to take returnable plastic and glass bottles. How do I know? I used to work for them. They are devious and that is NOT community oriented.
fax. theres literally a winco across the street from a super center walmart, where i live, and i never see people buying goceries at walmart(when i go). winco is the truth.
My nearest Walmart is almost next to an Aldi. Aldi usually undercuts Walmart’s prices, comparing Aldi’s house-brand items (almost all of what Aldi sells) to Walmart’s. Very often, Aldi or Walmart will adjust prices so that similar items have the same price. Aldi has a limited number of sizes and a much smaller selection, but the stores are tiny and the checkout lines are shorter than Walmart’s. I buy much more at Aldi but if I show up early in the day, Walmart shopping isn’t too bad, and the big selection can be useful.
I shop Aldi for another reason besides just price. Many of their items are either European in origin or also tailored to the European market. Europe has much stricter regulations on processed food and, if you compare labels, you will see that many Aldi goods have far fewer ingredients and preservatives than American-produced foods, including canned goods. That is one of the reasons they have their own store label. The Aldi product is closer to "natural" than many American products. I also find that portions are smaller, almost all the way around, and they have lots of organic products and produced that might not even be marked as such. If a bag of sweet potatoes has small potatoes, the likelihood is that it is an organic product. Buying items that are more realistic in portion size helps us keep down overeating "just because it's there."
I don't always find Walmart to be the cheapest. Other stores have bogo options, better sales or places like Aldi that are just plain cheaper on many items. It's also getting harder to find certain items at Walmart. Certain brands, varieties, flavors have disappeared as the isles have been taken over by whatever mega brand has bought the shelf space. I still get some things there, but it hasn't been a one stop shopping place for us in a long time. And it's typically much more stressful. Less associates, less registers and messier overall. I appreciate that they have grocery pick-up, but I've lost count of how many times the isles have been blocked or I've been bumped by those huge blue carts that associates are wheeling around to fill the pick-up orders. We're blessed to live in an area with more options (which I know not everyone is). We do a little Walmart, Publix, Aldi, Target and BJ's. We don't shop at them all every week, but pretty much keep an eye on the sales and buy when it's a good price stocking up a bit. Keeping an eye on the sales, coupons, fuel offers, etc takes a bit of time, but we save a lot. Competition is a good thing.
The issue with Walmart is the lack of choice. Either I get a single name brand or the store brand, that is it. This is why I still shop primarily at places like Publix or my neighborhood, Piggly Wiggly.
The lack of “choice” is one of the ways Walmart can provide lower prices. Also most Americans don’t want fake choices. You don’t need 10 different brands of ketchup as a example most people would rather just have Heinz be the only option so long as it’s cheap
That's why I'm so happy that here in Chicago we have a healthy competition and quite many local stores with amazing selection. I haven't been to Walmart for month already and I have on about 7 minutes away. Right next to that Walmart is a local chain's grocery store and it's always crowded with customers, because it has food from all over the world, big selection of fresh bread, and other things which you can't buy at Walmart.
That is what I have noticed at walmart. They have everything, but often only 1 brand plus their in-store brand. Increasingly more and more stuff is only sold as their in-store brand.
That Walmart in home service seems super sketchy. It's one thing to allow any delivery person to drop off boxes inside a front door, but to have them also put the food in the fridge as well. Nah, I'll do that myself, thank you.
Those in-home delivery people are vetted more than the police. I went for that job and found out I basically have to agree to have my location displayed at all times(tracked via my phone) and always be wearing a body camera lol. The instant you start that job Wal-Mart basically turns you into a delivery robot and you lose all your human rights.
That's like saying an auto mechanic is sketchy because they have access to your safety systems (i.e. brakes, could easily cut your lines). Way too broad to reach such conclusions.
Wal-Mart has slightly lower grocery prices on most (not all) items. It's also a more spacious and less cramped parking and shopping experience. Plus the layout is easier at checkout. Their self-checkouts, while not perfect, do move faster and are more organized than say, Kroger, which has a chaotic checkout. All of that said, Wal-Mart employees are generally out to lunch, so don't even try to ask a question or ask where something is.
yeah but these issues are kind manufactured by places like walmart, bad parking stems from the need to get to a to b which is hampered by having car dependency which is supported by walmarts big parking lots
@draco2xx I don't care about Walmart. I care that the fellow residents of my community are paid well enough to afford spending money at my business, which the local Windows and Costco employees frequently do. Walmart employees on the other hand can't afford me.
Costco has high quality goods but they ain't cheap. Oh yeah, the hotdogs and rotisserie chickens are cheap but their prices for a lot of other items aren't great. Quality is very high but if all you care about is price Costco isn't where you want to be.
@Monsuco Depends what you're getting. A lot of staples are cheaper at Costco than anywhere else, assuming you don't mind doing some bulk buying. They also have a spectacular return policy for electronics, which has saved me a good chunk of money on a couple of occasions.
Walmart is not the cheapest, look at your weekly ads and buy with the sales. This is the way my Mom taught me, bless her. Walmart in my experience is not a cheaper food buying option
I had the Walmart+ delivery and had to cancel it b/c the delivery drivers were constantly delivering my orders to someone else! They would take a picture of it which clearly wasn't my place! I contacted them numerous times and they would reimburse me but what I hated most was other people getting my orders free of charge! also they would not substitute my items with a comparable item if they were out of stock. if I ordered tomatoes, they would say they were out of stock!! and just drop it from my order! but to shop there in person i have always found what I was looking for.
My orders are also always delivered to neighbors 😒 I track the driver on the app and stand outside on the street when they’re coming, it’s stressful each time, I never know if I get my order or not. I hope they don’t want tips.
I’m sorry for the smaller markets. I used to try to shop locally. But prices are too high, my soc. Sec. does not stretch far enough. Walmart is the only way we can still afford to eat a variety 😢of foods.
The problem comes down to scale for smaller businesses. The more a company buys in bulk with more storage capacity, the cheaper they can make the price in comparison to smaller grocery companies.
And also Walmart stores these items in bulk in their facilities so manufacturers benefit here they distribution and storage costs goes down and it's passed on to consumers in the form of less price
My grocer knows me. My Korean green grocer knows me. My fish monger tells me what just came in. My bakery bakes bread every night. I could go to Walmart but why?
The EXPERIENCE of going to any Wal-Mart is horrible. It’s an ugly store, full of sugary foods. I appreciate their recent additions of FRESH PRODUCE, but the stores (and many of their customers) are AWFUL. I’d HAPPILY pay more for a smaller, nicer, store (preferably FAMILY RUN) I choose to support LOCAL businesses.
Agreed. It's a junk store. No on-site butcher so who knows where their meat comes from, their " great value "brand of anything has a weird taste and it's just megasize boxes of sugar, salt and corn. I'll pay more for what I put in my body and save a few dollars elsewhere. Vicki
I honestly don't care if the store is ugly and some people are awful. I don't go there for sightseeing, I don't go there to make friends, I like that they have a huge selection of quality, wholesome food, and my bottom line are prices.
I grocery shop almost exclusively at Walmart and Aldi. I compare prices every trip. Aldi is still cheaper and their products have less chemicals, dyes, and bioengineered food ingredients. I do appreciate that Walmart doesn't inflate their prices on items picked up curbside like other stores do.
I sopped at Albertsons in college. For most of the past 20 yrs I shopped at Food Lion cause it was on my way home. Since moving 3 urs ago, I shop at Aldi and Walmart. Walmart prices jumped since the pandemic on the items I buy. A few of them have come down but not pre-pandemic prices. I am a Walmart+ member but not an Amazon Prime member. I also use the Ibotta e-coupon app and gets me around $100 back each year for a family of 1.
There is still room for convenience stores. Not everybody can drive 5 miles to Walmart. At that distance, it's not even economical to buy milk, bread, and eggs at Walmart.
Corner stores are more expensive. It would make more sense for the person to just insist in gas and save in groceries by going to Walmart. Or they could put the money they would have used on gas to grocery to delivery
What people also fail to realize is that it's not just about the different prices, its about location location location. Thats why McDonald's is so popular, not just cause of cheaper prices and decent food, but its everywhere and its convenient
Accessibly is key on how they dominate the market. I live in a rural upcoming county & there are 3 Walmarts while all the food lions have closed. The only other option is the Giant chain , Martins. Martins is expensive in comparison. With the COL continuously rising consumers prefer to one stop shop with the impression of 50 cents cheaper. Personally, I love target & have found since reducing prices a few years ago they match Walmart. However, target does not offer the variety of goods that Walmart does. All of these factors kept the business rolling in no matter how much we hate going to Walmart!
So McDonalds is cheap and has decent food? Whoda thunk it. I am pretty sure that a lot of their ''food'' isn't technically food, any more than other fast junk food places.
I tried Walmart a few times recently but the wait to checkout took longer than the it did to get the groceries. Their cashier/bagging system seems to be maximally inefficient.
@@MayorMcheese12 totally agree. Plus I don’t have to deal with the cashier possibly being rude or just being unpleasant. The self-checkout line moves so quick at my WMT cause there’s like 8 machines and even with a long line, I hardly ever wait more than 2 mins just to get to a checkout.
I go into walmart , once in a great while , NOT weekly . Like you said, people are crazy. IF I have to go into walmart , I'm there to get what I need, and rush to hurry to get out . I heard where Walmart will end up having ROBOTS working in the store and Less Employees. Walmart goes out their own country for ROBOTS and China. Over 90% of merchandise came from China .
Biggest problem with Walmart is not enough cashiers more times than not I go shopping get to the registers and leave my car and go home because I'm not waiting they definitely need to tighten up on that department and no I don't want to use the self-checkout give the customers what they want no waiting
Even Publix are doing it now with the self checkout! As soon as I saw that at my local Publix, went straight to Walmart. Walmart is cheaper and have bigger self checkout. Ngl I am tempted to do the online thing, I usually spend 2hrs in total, drive there, get the stuff and comeback.
That sounds like a you problem not a Walmart problem. Stop being entitled and wait in line like everyone else does or learn how to do self check out. Alternatively you can pay to have it delivered to you
The reason I've mostly switched to Walmart is because of their own brand. For example, I can buy the Walmart brand flour tortillas for less than half the name brand. They look and taste exactly the same. Some Walmart products are very sub-par but some are every bit as good. Also, when I shop online, they often substitute a more expensive item than what I put in my cart. That's a good deal.
We love our Walmart. It’s a smaller store in an upscale neighborhood. The grocery section is very good except for the produce. Walmart has never excelled in the fresh produce area. They have excellent bakery items and I’ve gotten my whole family hooked on their blueberry pie. The great value brand is as good as the name brands for the most part.
Aldi's price are a little better because its basically all in house brands. But if you compare Aldi brands vs Great Value (walmart brand) walmart is cheaper.
Mom & Pop stores need to band together and form giant Coops that can bring economies of scale that giant retailers benefit from. That's the only real way they can compete.
The issue with cooperatives is that they are incredibly hard to form and get going. Of course, once they are running they can put sprint most other business corporations.
There is something called IGA ... Independent Grocer Association. Unfortunately, locally I seen a lot of local grocers go away. But things like IGA does allow for them to compete
I disagree. I can’t afford to shop for groceries at Walmart anymore. I shop at other grocery chains like Aldi, Price Chopper, and Hannaford. So much cheaper than Walmart.
Timely video. After spending north of $100K in various Walmart stores over the past 40 years, I am done with them. Just this past weekend, after buying groceries at my Walmart of choice (Prosper, TX), I went to checkout and discovered there were no cashiers. Instead, there were something like two dozen self-checkout stations. No warning, no explanation. It was chaotic. People had carts full of food and other items. Some items did not have bar codes, so you had to ask one of the random employees standing around (and otherwise doing NOTHING) for help, which meant sifting through multiple computer screens until the item was found (if it could be found at all). All because the billionaires in Arkansas (read: Walton family) are too cheap to pay cashiers a living wage. Walmart could not care less about customers. I was not the only one upset that day, so my guess is that they are going to lose customers. Good! Walmart's produce and meat is terrible. (Um, I am not going to trust a robot to choose bananas for me...ugh) Fortunately, just this past August, HEB opened a store near where I live. They get my business because, besides good merch and friendly, helpful employees (which I have never found at Walmart), HEB actually has 15 or more cashiers. Checkout is fast and painless. I think it helps that HEB is family-owned, and they do not have to answer to Wall Street.
When Wal-Mart first introduced self-checkout in my area I too was intimidated by the new system, but after trying it and asking employees for a few explanations I found it extremely fast, easy and accurate. It DOES take a little while to get used to it like all new technology, but it is definitely coming to EVERY other store eventually. Learn it now because you'll have no choice in a few years.
I hate self check out. Most of us are just upset for about a month and then just use it. Difference is in small towns its either Walmart or somewhere significantly more expensive. I used to spend more a lot on food, eating well but when I need to budget nobody beats Walmart.
All the cashier jobs turned into grocery getter jobs to fulfill all the mobile orders and order ahead pickup at store getters. I hate self checkout too since when there is a problem nobody can do anything to fix it.
If all they have open is self-checkout I abandon my cart and go elsewhere. I feel sorry for whoever has to put my food away, but that is the store's problem and not mine. 😎
_" you had to ask one of the random employees standing around (and otherwise doing NOTHING) for help"_ that's their *job.* To be there in case a customer needs help at the self-checkout. They wait there until they're needed. I would have thought that'd be obvious.
I live in CA. Walmart is cheaper on most products by a large margin. I shop there by necessity but it is a depressing experience. Nobody’s smiling, the store is dirty, they are often out of things and there is limited selection.
Prices are not leveling off at all, they are still insane. Other grocery stores can’t compete because they are expensive as hell. If a grocer can’t get a gallon of milk for the price that Walmart gets it for then that’s their problem. My local grocery store charges $6.09 for a pack of Oreos. $4 for a small lunchable and $5.39 for a box of Velveeta mac and cheese and $4.29 for a gallon of milk but if is spend $50, I get $0.10 off a gallon of gas …whoop Dee do!
I choose Walmart for the price point (except for fresh foods like milk, meat, produce - I'll pay a little more for better quality). The app and pickup is very helpful because my anxiety goes through the roof when shopping inside a massive store like Walmart. And refunds are easy because the app usually just gives me my money back (for example, my shopper gets the wrong flavor, or if an egg is cracked), without going inside. For me being in a single income home, it's been helpful.
I have that same anxiety. Especially in sams club but at least sams club allow you to use an app to check yourself out and have a receipt on your phone. No waiting in lines at all.
Walmart has changed my life with Business+ delivery. I did a trial and loved it instantly. I run a cake business and being able to continue production and take only 5 minutes to meet the driver has been a life saver.
Walmart may only be worth it if you shop in store. If you opt for delivery even with their Walmart plus membership you always have to pay a tip to instacart. The tip every time you order groceries ends up making your annual Walmart plus membership way more costly. I found it was also difficult getting my stuff. It was like they couldn’t find delivery people (even though I always tipped). Some orders had to be outright cancelled because I never received them. That’s when I decided to switch to an annual Kroger membership. The Kroger deliveries don’t require tipping and your groceries are kept cold in a refrigerated Kroger truck. Plus my groceries are delivered right on time like clockwork by actual Kroger employees. Best decision I ever made.
Who on earth uses things like instacart? Talk about lazy. Unless you’re a legitimately handicapped senior who simply can’t get around, nobody should be using grocery delivery services.
I avoid Walmart like the plague. My last experience with Walmart was probably 5 years ago. I left my full grocery cart in the self checkout corral, completely frustrated and disgusted with their kiosks. Nobody there to “train” me how to check MYSELF out, and of course not a real checker in sight. I won’t shop anywhere I’m forced to self checkout. I don’t need the aggravation in my life.
Did you ever notice how disgustingly filthy those self checkouts at Walmart are? I seriously doubt they clean them once a month - all smeared in gross stuff.
@@sparklemotion86 They clean them but had you noticed how many people go in and out in a hour. It must be difficult to be on top of that. They were better at the pandemic, everything was clean all the time.
For everyone having an issue finding a cashier at Walmart, two words: tobacco register. There is always someone there because of legal reasons (in most states).
Comments are absolutely wack. You have grocers in the first 2 mins saying that Walmart prices their products for less than even they can get them for, and people are still saying that Walmarts costs are way up. Would you rather shop at the stores that sell the same thing for more? The “high costs” they people complain about from Walmart are gonna be higher at the other stores. I just don’t get it.
I Used to shop at Trader Joe's, Whole foods, and Costco. I make a pretty comfortable living but $350-500 a month for groceries is ridiculous for just me and my wife. I do all my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart now.
I used to buy groceries via Uber but believe that the cost for each item is billed at a higher amount then the amount charged as the store. When I order from Walmart, I believe I'm paying the same fees that are being charged at the shelves. Great prices and I only pay for a tip IF I spend at least $ 35.00. Very good.
my location happens to be in an ethnically chinese canadian suburb. sometimes, i forget i'm in a walmart! selection is pretty wide. prices are and still were very reasonable even during the prime covid years. it's got an incredible produce section gai lan, bak choi yui choi, snow pea tips, daikon, melons, usual carrots potatos onions peppers, fruits so forth. cold section for hotpot and dimsum selections even. it also has (live) seafood section. i've picked up dungenous crab a few times. going to try to buy some of their lobsters one day. as well, has an asian butcher so i grab some quick tripe brisket flank too at the same time can still get detergent, motor oil, work boots, yard tools, and some kid toys legos. but don't particularly care for their clothes that's all. regular eggs and milk are always cheap. it's the middle isle canned goods boxed goods that's inflated in price past 5 yrs- that's everywhere.. you do walk out with a bigbox cheap feel still but you knew that walking in already. definitely not the small neighbourhood market need to bring the car and intend to pickup 5 -50 items to enjoy larger savings.
I’ve tried other places, but Wal-Mart has grocery pick-up figured out and you just can’t beat the prices. Sometimes I get something expired and have to get a refund and we did get some bad chicken once, but overall it saves us SO much money and time. I’m still spending an arm and a leg just to feed my husband and I but it could be worse🤣
I don’t understand why anyone would let someone else shop for you for the sake of convenience. Especially produce, you won’t get the best version of the fruit. I’ve gotten bad fruits and vegetables from people who are encouraged to be speedy. You just described chicken being expired. I wouldn’t want to sacrifice that for convenience especially if I wanted to eat that chicken when I wanted to. But I can only speak for myself. I guess to each their own.
@@HarcorwrestlerI only had one bad product from Walmart delivery, and it was a case of the product expiring faster than the date on the package. This is after two years of constant use. The only inconsistency I’ve had is with bananas - a couple times I’ve received far more than I ordered, whoever is doing the weighing for them there is generous.
My H-E-B in town has better prices on meats compared to Walmart. But both have good prices when it comes to groceries. Heb has coupons that you can't find at Walmart
I used to live in Texas and I shopped frequently at Walmart. But I discovered that the stores were often careless with stocking inventory that was delivered on their docks. After several incidents where I had milk spoil only a couple of days after purchase, I noticed that the loading docks for the Texas stores near me were easily accessible from the interior and the dock's contents were visible ... so every time I went into the store I'd take quick look in the back at the loading dock. To my surprise the stores routinely accepted delivery of product from refrigerated trucks and allowed the inventory to be offloaded and sit in on the docks. The docks were at or near outside air temperatures, which often meant close to 100F. Dairy was being allowed to sit on the loading dock until shift change or the evening staff arrived to restock the store. I knew this because most of my shopping trips occurred after work around 8pm in the evening. It would be 8pm in the summer with the sun going down and no one in sight at the docks, but there would be stacks of milk, yogurt, eggs and cheese sitting there on pallets on the dock. I was appalled. That might work in some milder parts of the country, but it's unacceptable in the deep south where outside temperatures can promote spoilage in a matter of hours. I was amazed they didn't know this. When I asked the low level staff about this, they said it's what they were told to do. After that experience, I decided I would never buy fresh meat, or dairy from Walmart again. I continued to buy produce, frozen and other processed and prepackaged foods as well as dry goods based on the premise that I could tell what condition the product was in from visual inspection. But I wasn't buying milk, eggs, yogurt and in some cases cheese because I didn't feel they cared to handle those types of refrigerated products safely.
Dairy doesn't spoil "in a matter of hours". It's much quicker for food safety. If it has been out of the refrigerator temps (safe zone) for more than 30 minutes, it needs to be thrown out to adhere to food safety standards. Next time, sit outside and watch the milks for thirty minutes. Then report it.
I stopped shopping at Walmart after I purchased a 24 pack of Ozarka water, a 6 pack of Dos Equis and a 6 pack of Modelo 2 months ago at the self checkout. The worker checked my ID and approved the purchase. I was then stopped by the worker at the podium at the front of the store who wanted me to see my receipt. She didn’t verbally ask, but began flailing her hands around. I showed it to her (again…just water & beer) and she proceeded to count every beer and every bottled water as if I was going to steal one by forcing it into the already shrink wrapped packaging. Fast forward, I now only shop at Kroger & Tom Thumb. (Plano, TX) BEST….DECISION….EVER!!!
@@vaderladyl Thanks for your response! Glad to see you’ve carved a few hours out of your day to paste your cookie cutter “cry me a river” response to other comments. Have a good one.
Walmart has been scamming the public for years. They secretly add line items of $10.00 on your receipt without you knowing. They are criminals and our government is in on it with them.
As someone who has to be gluten free, other grocery stores are unreasonable. A loaf of bread at Walmart goes for about $6.50. An IGA near where I live, the same loaf goes for almost $10. I literally cant shop anywhere else.
We shop primarily at Kroger & various Asian markets. Occasionally at Safeway. We buy cleaning supplies or personal stuff at Walmart, but not food. I've had issues there in terms of quality and options.
Yeah...i also never see them have any variety of veggies either, its just bananas and apples and literally zero kale or celery or spinach or anything else.
I used to shop at 2 of my supermarket in my town but until I saw Walmart had more than just home, living, bathroom, electriconic goods, tools and clothing. I suddenly started shopping there and comparing prices to my supermarket stores and my goodness it's a night and day difference. Cheaper, larger in size and wider variety so less gas usage and less time wasted. It's become my default go to for groceries, personal care products, some clothing, kitchen and laundry supplies. Amazon for electronics are my go-to.
What Walmart are you shopping at that doesn’t sell fruit and veg? Even the neighborhood market stores have fruit and veg. If they sell groceries, then there will be fruit and veg.
I've been shopping online groceries at Walmart for home delivery for 4 years now. it works perfectly. I don't waste any more time or gasoline standing in line or buying a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff that was not on my initial shopping list. you cannot lower the prices of food but if you change your method of shopping you will save money just in the shopping experience itself. The nice thing is that I can continuously add to my shopping list online and then just hit the button and next morning it's at my door. The amount of time I save shopping online rather than waiting in line I can do work making money and the two of those things combined means a lot of extra money in your pocket. as for quality they always pick really good stuff it's very rare that there is a problem but nothing more than what it would be if I were getting my own fresh food where you pick a rotten food once in awhile. The other thing is that when you shop online you get to see all the cheapest prices whereas you might miss the deals in the store.
@@karinaz8756 Here in Canada the prices are 100% exactly the same online as in the store. They charge five or $6 for delivery. I used to spend half a day or more shopping for groceries. That alone cost me over $100 just in the time that I lose from my business. Not to mention gasoline, expenditure for a car. When I shop online for a product in the store it lists all the best prices first. I can open up several tabs on my web browser and see which of all the grocery stores in my area have the cheapest prices and just order what I want at the best prices. Some stores even have free delivery. I used to go to the dollar store with a list of less than $10 and come out with over 40 or $50 worth of stuff. When you shop in the store you end up buying a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff and that adds to the bill. Who wants to work hard all week doing construction and then have to get up Saturday morning and fight with crowds at the grocery store when I can just open my front door and there's all my groceries and I can just chill relax and enjoy the day. Stores might charge a fee for curbside but how much did you pay in gasoline to get to the curb and how much time did you lose because time is money. I'm a contractor in house renovation you know how much money I lose per hour shopping at the store. Lots.
Same here, except I pick it up outside at grocery pickup and they load my car trunk for me. It is free, costs the same as shopping indoors, no tipping allowed, and saves me about 2 hours per grocery trip not having to go inside! This was the best thing to come out of the pandemic in my opinion; love it!
We have a local Walmart Super Center down the road from us that we do the vast majority of our shopping at. Their prices are the best, and it makes no sense to go somewhere else just to buy the exact same thing at a higher cost. We do miss the larger selection you can sometimes find at other stores, but that, or when we can hit a sale at another store, are really the only reason we bother going to one of the other grocers in our area.
I am a vendor and go to too all kidns of retailers. The thing about Walmart is honestly its average shopper. They bring the place down and make workers lives hard. It makes you not want to be there. They have no respect for themselves, the strangers aroudn them, society, or humanity. Just watching these people speaks volumes at how terrible they are.
ALL Walmart employees should have to do five months at the Walmart Warehouse before being hired. That would smarten them up that things could be much, much worse for the same money!! And yes, I did my five months in winter at the Walmart Warehouse, and lived.
Never stepped my foot inside Walmart till this inflation and shrinkflation started. With a wider customer base, I guess they improved their grocery selection. My Walmart has a huge selection of organic produce, you can buy pasture- raised beef, eggs, milk at a much cheaper price than anywhere else. Also the home delivery is a saver when you run out of food and don’t feel like spending crazy money on takeout. As much as I hate going inside the Walmart, with these food prices you gotta do what you gotta do.
My experience is that most of the supermarkets have consciously chosen to cater to the wealthiest 10%, thinking that the profit margins will be better. And so you find that most of the items can be made at home for 1/5 the price. I have to feed a family of 13, so you can imagine that I am fanatical about keeping costs down. I don't really buy anything from other groceries., unless it happens to be a loss-leader, the weekly sale. And even then, half the time, it can be had a Walmart for the same price. If you realize that the whole name-brand thing is just an advertising gimmick, then you don't really miss anything by shopping at Walmart.
Rice, Potatoes, Cornbread (buy the Flour & Cornmeal in bulk), Cheese, Eggs, Whole Milk, and any good Meat that's on sale, preferably Beef. For Fruits and Veggies just buy everything that's good at the clearance racks, and make your own Sauerkraut and/or Pickles. Upgrade the Sauerkraut to Kimchi if you can afford the chili flakes.
Me and my wife stopped buying groceries at Walmart since it's very easy to deviate and buy a lot of stuff that wasn't on the list of groceries or stuff that we didn't really need.
Yes, how did you get the strength to stop going to Walmart, if you didn't have the strength to just not buy things when you were there shopping? And everywhere else you go carries only what you need?
I absolutely love Wal-Mart's groceries! Many organic foods that are very affordable. I love being a Member & getting FREE delivery right to my door & FREE shipping on other items. I'm independentally disabled senior so this has been so wonderful for me!
Wal-Mart USED to be known for lower prices - not anymore. Even since Sam Walton died the company has gotten greedy AF and has continued to keep prices high even after the inflation rate decreased.
Will never shop at Walmart. Staff are rude, shoppers are crazy. I was almost pickpocketed at a Walmart and my friends have been harassed over apparently 'stealing' even though they had a receipt. I will continue to shop at and support local chains instead of this garbage.
This video barely brushes what Walmart is doing to it's employees for lower prices. They are lowering their associates pay and neglected to show the average of Walmart associates on government assistance.
The very example of waterbed effect could be lead to P&G as they reported that 15% of their sales is done by Walmart and I feel Walmart can have an upper hand on it's products and offers thus pushing P&G to compensate with other retailers or outlets
Yea, you kind of nailed it (I work in retail). Walmart demands such a low cost, because suppliers all want access to their large customer base which translates into large sales, that suppliers have to seek higher costs through other retailers to maintain margin requirements. I might sell my product to Walmart at a cost per unit of $1.50, but other retailers will be charged $1.99 per unit, for example.

I buy anything that comes in a package from Walmart, then jump over to a local grocer for fresh food. This allows us to hit a sweet spot saving money and eating well. Formerly did all our shopping at Publix but the prices just can no longer be ignored.
Publix prices are crazy right now, I might have to bite the bullet and go to Walmart at this point
I went to a Publix for the first time when i visited Florida and I was shocked with their prices 😮 it reminds me of Whole Foods.
Yes Publix usually charge $1-3 more for the same item at Walmart..

ALDI is so much better, my grocery run is 30 min max whereas I used to spend 1 hour in Walmart. Plus our local Walmart is pretty old and dirty
@@thethoughtfulpeanut6662 aldi's may be cheaper, but the food is so bland and tasteless. garbage.
@tecknixx "Bland"? What exactly are YOU buying? (Certainly not the raw, fresh ingredients for cooking your own food with, which is what I shop there for...)
Hyperpalatability is a quality of ultra-processed foods, which are designed to be addicting.
We used to own convenience stores and would always buy our oil for resale from Walmart because it was cheaper than from our suppliers.
@@Jean.A.squirrel Then stop shopping around for low prices and pay higher at a local biz
Might as well weed out the local farmer and let them sell to places like wal-mart and then resold back to me at a lower price. sigh~
gotta give and take.
I don't have no issues with Walmart but am worried about corporate consolidation and companies driving out competition.
but they still got compete with places on-line and target meijer and many other food chain grocery store's.
That's why our prices keep going up.
not to mention how much they get in handouts from the government while taking profits
you'll have issues with them when you find their underground tunnels with human trafficking?
Then you should probably have an issue with Walmart
Bad city planning also kills businesses, for example: mixed use suburbs. Small stores can survive there because if you can buy groceries with a 5 minutes walk you wouldn't mind paying a little more, but if you already have to drive why not go to the cheaper place.
We had a lidl open down the street from audi. In less than a year lidl was gone. It would have done better opening in a completely different part of town. Not a 5 minute walk away.

Gago Kasi yang Walmart
And in the end, the consumer benefits. I HAVE a choice on where to buy and what to buy. Don't blame the seller that is serving my needs.
No, it's more like "I can do this because you have no alternative."
As I've said, I've worked in Walmart since 1985 and I can guarantee you, kid, that it wasn't always this way.@@devilselbow

They were real careful to not show all the Altima Americans
We're lucky to have a Winco in our area. They often can match Walmart's prices, and more often than not can beat their prices. And their produce quality is far superior to what Walmart can offer.
I'm loving WinCo lately too! And Grocery Outlet (Bargain Market). ❤

Winco is great and I never felt other shoppers there were annoying. I also think their produce selection and bulk goods selection are awesome.
I love winco I only do my grocery shopping there anymore. Just wish my winco had more cashiers they are always busy .
I think that's
Hi handsome
Yes that is why Walmart should be only part of your rotation. It is impossible to find everything cheap at just one store.
WINCO
I do most of my shopping at ALDI but whatever I can’t get there I just get a the Walmart up the street from it.
cheap prices also mean cheap quality, bogus brands that taste like cardboard
I like Aldi also but it is so far from me. Wal mart in just several blocks from me.
I used to love shopping at Piggly Wiggly but their prices have gotten outrageous here in MS
Walmart’s prices are really going up in grocery though. Aldi is still the best bargain.
Somebody who could do it for themselves probably wouldn't be using this. This is for people who can't.
I'm curious as to how long before they sub this service out to the likes of Uber or Door Dash. Then you'll have some rando in your house.
Right.
yeah but these issues are kind manufactured by places like walmart, bad parking stems from the need to get to a to b which is hampered by having car dependency which is supported by walmarts big parking lots
The grocery prices became irrational. And stores like Publix are charging much more for the same product.
Publix sucks and overpriced even as early as 2014 when I first went there.
Winco and Costco are both good value and good to their employees. That's why most of my shopping dollars are spent at one or the other.
Wish we had a Winco !

Yeah but Spendy MacSpend would rather go over spend at other places rather than let go of their prejudices about Walmart. Their loss.
You better look again. Wally World Is a BIG LIe!
Walmart online is better then Amazon lately free shipping 10$ orders I can't believe it
The problem comes down to scale for smaller businesses. The more a company buys in bulk with more storage capacity, the cheaper they can make the price in comparison to smaller grocery companies.
big retailers can negotiate on long term supply contracts, driving down the price.
I agree 100% i never go to Walmart ever for any reason
True, Walmart is just gross. They look dirty
Agreed. It's a junk store. No on-site butcher so who knows where their meat comes from, their " great value "brand of anything has a weird taste and it's just megasize boxes of sugar, salt and corn. I'll pay more for what I put in my body and save a few dollars elsewhere. Vicki
Going into a walmart is a depressing experience. I still go in. But try to get out quickly.
I do appreciate that Walmart doesn't inflate their prices on items picked up curbside like other stores do.
excellent reporting! I would love to see more content about Walmart, and Dollar Tree too
They literally have it all and are typically nearby. that’s the reason. What grocery store has clothing, electronics, outdoor, school supply etc
Walmart+
Corner stores are more expensive. It would make more sense for the person to just insist in gas and save in groceries by going to Walmart. Or they could put the money they would have used on gas to grocery to delivery
Aldi
it costs less than $1 to drive 5 miles... wtf are you talking about?
@@mattsch21 yeah but not everybody drives or has a car
What people also fail to realize is that it's not just about the different prices, its about location location location. Thats why McDonald's is so popular, not just cause of cheaper prices and decent food, but its everywhere and its convenient
And they truly made the research to find the best location spots.

In Texas you don’t go to Walmart. You go to HEB.
Whenever I feel sad about being alone, I just shop at Walmart and look at the faces of the married men and I instantly feel better.

I tried Walmart a few times recently but the wait to checkout took longer than the it did to get the groceries. Their cashier/bagging system seems to be maximally inefficient.
There was a lane open with a human cashier?
I choose self checkout almost every time. It’s way faster. I’d rather nah my own groceries and be done with it.
They have the slowest cashiers out of any other market. Better chance just using self checkout.

Alternatively you can pay to have it delivered to you
self service is the best!
That is everywhere, they are cutting positions and having less employees to pay and substituting with self checkout. It is what it is.
Same here except mine has excellent produce, even a large organic section. It's a Supercenter.
You are probably shopping in a Walmart Marketplace, very different from a Supercenter.
Aldi's prices are still a little bit better though.
I love them

Mom & Pop stores need to band together and form giant Coops that can bring economies of scale that giant retailers benefit from. That's the only real way they can compete.
The issue with cooperatives is that they are incredibly hard to form and get going. Of course, once they are running they can put sprint most other business corporations.
@@Ultravenom1 That's always the problem.
There is IGA but in the US they are pretty small though they are a force in parts of Canada.
There is something called IGA ... Independent Grocer Association. Unfortunately, locally I seen a lot of local grocers go away. But things like IGA does allow for them to compete
@@ronpetersen2317 To my understanding, IGA is a private company.
I disagree. I can’t afford to shop for groceries at Walmart anymore. I shop at other grocery chains like Aldi, Price Chopper, and Hannaford. So much cheaper than Walmart.
I drive 45 minutes to the nearest Walmart market for groceries. It's still far cheaper than my local super market.
Walmart prices have increased but they are still much cheaper than the typical grocery store
(Um, I am not going to trust a robot to choose bananas for me...ugh)
Fortunately, just this past August, HEB opened a store near where I live.
I feel bad for folks that don’t have HEB
HEB RULES... THEY OWN TEXAS. WALMART should close. BTW. 3 states matter to WALMART, FL, TX and CA. Without these states they are out of business.
I live in CA. Walmart is cheaper on most products by a large margin. I shop there by necessity but it is a depressing experience. Nobody’s smiling, the store is dirty, they are often out of things and there is limited selection.
Same here hate shopping there. Always a whole bunch of kids running around
In NO WAY shape or form
Is Walmart CHEAP
Especially in groceries
Prices are not leveling off at all, they are still insane. Other grocery stores can’t compete because they are expensive as hell. If a grocer can’t get a gallon of milk for the price that Walmart gets it for then that’s their problem. My local grocery store charges $6.09 for a pack of Oreos. $4 for a small lunchable and $5.39 for a box of Velveeta mac and cheese and $4.29 for a gallon of milk but if is spend $50, I get $0.10 off a gallon of gas …whoop Dee do!
I don’t eat any of that. Everything except the milk is garbage, and single serving items like Lunchables are a waste of money.
Love when the media says inflation is slowing after prices went up 300% as if people dont remember what they paid before the plandemic
You have got to be a smart shopper. That's all there is to it. FvCK Wal-Mart.
@@genxx2724you’re missing the point.
@@genxx2724 No one cares what you eat!!
Why do you have shopping anxiety ?
I have that same anxiety. Especially in sams club but at least sams club allow you to use an app to check yourself out and have a receipt on your phone. No waiting in lines at all.

The Kroger deliveries don’t require tipping and your groceries are
kept cold in a refrigerated Kroger truck.
Ok whatever. Nt everybody hates the self check out, for many of us is actually better now.

I do most of my food shopping at Food Lion.
I Used to shop at Trader Joe's, Whole foods, and Costco. I make a pretty comfortable living but $350-500 a month for groceries is ridiculous for just me and my wife. I do all my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart now.
Used to do Bashas but every time their fruit would go bad after two days, moved to Walmart since I have $400 for gas and groceries per month.
Trader joe's is now a joke, such low quality garbage they are putting out.
Very good.
Go to the store, by one meal for 4, that evening, $60-80... leftovers are more valuable than ever, and preferred over fast food.

Hey handsome
I’ve tried other places, but Wal-Mart has grocery pick-up figured out and you just can’t beat the prices. Sometimes I get something expired and have to get a refund and we did get some bad chicken once, but overall it saves us SO much money and time. I’m still spending an arm and a leg just to feed my husband and I but it could be worse🤣
And you can buy everything else, from video games to tires
I find my Walmart produce to be fresher than my local groceries.
Yes... some stores do this on purpose harming the public. Not many but a few.

Walmart has been scamming the public for years. They secretly add line items of $10.00 on your receipt without you knowing. They are criminals and our government is in on it with them.
My family can grow our own food and can grocery shop minimally. Haven’t stepped in a Walmart in over a decade and don’t intend to.

Target doesn't really sell groceries anymore. So I fail to see how this comment is relevant.
Wal mart is very noticeably cheaper than the other grocery stores in my area.
Actually you can lower the price of groceries by not voting for policies that hurt you instead of help you
Prices online and delivery are more than if you shop yourself in the store. Stores are even starting to charge a fee for curbside.

The 50's were SO much better than today!
I even miss the food & prices from the 90's. I get PTSD after every shopping trip.
13??
Rice, Potatoes, Cornbread (buy the Flour & Cornmeal in bulk), Cheese, Eggs, Whole Milk, and any good Meat that's on sale, preferably Beef. For Fruits and Veggies just buy everything that's good at the clearance racks, and make your own Sauerkraut and/or Pickles. Upgrade the Sauerkraut to Kimchi if you can afford the chili flakes.
been saying walmart is the absolute GOAT for good groceries anymore.
Me and my wife stopped buying groceries at Walmart since it's very easy to deviate and buy a lot of stuff that wasn't on the list of groceries or stuff that we didn't really need.
thats your fault for not having self control
That's any grocery store.
Yes, how did you get the strength to stop going to Walmart, if you didn't have the strength to just not buy things when you were there shopping?
And everywhere else you go carries only what you need?
Idk if anybody told you this @cnbc but ya make really valuable content
I don't shop at Wal-mart unless I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO!
More for everybody else.
@@vaderladyl Good for you🙃
@@choosey87 Of course!
@@vaderladyl Sure😉
Been wanting this video for so long, thank you soo much !! Love from India
