He would have to know everyone Jane shook hands with, what Jane's criteria for determining who he is was, Jane's personal knowledge of each man he suspects and know how many men Jane suspects. Unless RJ has unlimited resources and has been literally watching everything Jane's been doing up until now(and where would he find the time to do all this between sleeping/his day job/hunting and killing women), there simply is no way he's so smart that he can just determine Jane's list like that. Giving the villain omnipotence like this just takes me right out of the story. Now, because they've done this, whenever RJ dies I'm going to be wondering "Well why didn't he know this was coming since he apparently KNOWS EVERYTHING!?!"
Well, like Jane says, it's a trick. Red John committed numerous murders personally, missing an alibi for a random one is whatever, but missing an alibi for all of them is pretty much impossible. By probability the list would be empty, a random person would have an alibi for at least a single murder. 3 of the suspects were in his organization, obvious front men, another two were in visualize which he is incredibly secretive and he has connections with. The visualize case revealed itself after the fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Mcallister leaked it purpose to add names to the list. The only one he really had to figure out was Kirkland.
There are weird things about that list. Unless i mistake, but Jane met Bob Kirkland AFTER Lorelei told him they shook hands. Bob Kirkland was introduced in the same episode and he was looking for Jane with Lisbon. And Patrick never shook the hands of Smith or Macallister (not yet, they shook hands when Macallister saved Patrick's life on the roof of the church, but that was also a lot later). I don't think he shook Partridge's hand, the later has always been totally scornful to Jane, maybe Jane shook his hand and we didn't see it. I'm not even sure Patrick shook Stiles hand. He did shake Haffner's hand (the irony is Haffner was the only nice honest guy on the list), but otherwise the list doesn't really make sense. But it's still a great scene and a great tv show.
It was a rushed job as the network got tired of RJ and told Heller to pack it up. The list was almost ok if he didn't go for the most out-of-character character on the list.
weird thought but maybe jane playing rock paper scissors with the sheriff in episode 2 counted as "shaking hands" since they did kinda like shake them in the air when playing the game.
Cmon shaking hands is the most basic form of greeting in the West, or anywhere these days. It’s not something that needs to be shown on screen. Even if you meet someone you dislike, professionally you will still shake hands as a form of formal acknowledgement. Here shaking hand means that Res John is some prominent figure that Patrick has encountered in the past
My theory, and bear with me because this is a crazy theory, is that it is a TV show and none of this really happened. Instead a group of writers wrote it knowing most people would forget that there all this is necessary for a DVD with a guy knowing Jane's list to exist is that they declare it to be so and write the damn script. I know ... It does sound crazy now that I'm reading what I wrote.
Given that Red John was a rushed job because of the network, I wonder if they held “auditions” for past cast members to play a revealed Red John - and this list contains the top performers.
I always wonder what's that so fascinating or miraculous in him so he makes those people follow him blindly and be devouted like lunatics... it's like he hypnotized them somehow or else being an expert in human nature he picked up certain type of weak people perfect fit to his machinations...

After epic scenes like this, and yes he was really really clever. BUT after how he died and the explonation, for me at least, Red John was dissapointing. Okay, he obviously got the happy memory part from Jane's psychiatrist but there are only two ways he could have guessed the list. Either he spied on EVERY action Jane took, and recorded logs or videos of them (because no one in his network would bother to report he shook hands with the pizza delivery guy or even if they did Red John would not care to remember). Then did the same investigation Jane did. Or he made Lorelei say all the possible names and then edited the video to say only them after he spied on the list. Both are hugely unlikely in my opinion. The most likely way would be some kind of deepfake technology but it should be even more advanced than it is now.
@Arjun Kumar Interesting, but still not possible. It's been a while I watched the show but IIRC red john shot the video before Jane even thought of the list himself, so it couldn't have been Lisbon telling about the list. The problem I see about any 'someone was working for red john' theory is that, because he predicted before Jane even thought of the list meaning he must have 100% precent intel about Jane's movements, as much as Jane himself knows.

Now, because they've done this, whenever RJ dies I'm going to be wondering "Well why didn't he know this was coming since he apparently KNOWS EVERYTHING!?!"
They realised it late and compensated by making Red John a joke in his final episode 😂
Could not have said it better myself
Things happening offscreen
JDines lol
lmao XD
Given that Red John was a rushed job because of the network, I wonder if they held “auditions” for past cast members to play a revealed Red John - and this list contains the top performers.
I dont think that even the writers know how red john figured out the names
This scene was crazyyy
I always wonder what's that so fascinating or miraculous in him so he makes those people follow him blindly and be devouted like lunatics... it's like he hypnotized them somehow or else being an expert in human nature he picked up certain type of weak people perfect fit to his machinations...
I think you don't understand to the concept of loyalty. Almost all followers are people who he has helped and made them something. And they are grateful and loyal
@@asjaosaline5987 of course loyalty... i forgot that their moral value or conscious was not very noble so they had no problem with paying him back this way since they got into his trap in the first place because of their weakness and rotten
@@yavitvexe9997 Yea Red John is a master manipulator. just like how jane is good at controlling people, red john is too, but john uses it for evil.
After epic scenes like this, and yes he was really really clever. BUT after how he died and the explonation, for me at least, Red John was dissapointing. Literally any1 else could have been a better Red John. I liked the idea of RJ is Jane. He has a split personality and imagining RJ all along. Jane's smile is very similar with the paintings on the wall 😊But this was just my version of the show. This would have been a very dark ending, but for me would have been a better one.

How dis RJ know about the happy memory ????
From Jane's therapist when he had his breakdown
Watch the show.
Why couldn't Jane identity who is Rad John from Loralei's facial expressions? He does that all the time. There should be atleast some change in her facial expressions when she mentioning the real Red John.
But, how red john knew the list suspects of Jane…? 🧐
How did red John know about his happy memorie
A mystery to keep the viewer guessing about what could be real about life.
He tortured it out from his therapists. You Should watch the episode slowly
He interrogated his therapist. He forgot about telling her the happy memory because he was all doped up on neuroleptics.
@@randomfullywonderful but i remember patrick wanting to interview his doctor again but later found she was murdered. if he knew that for a fact that he told her he wouldn't need to ask her to confirm
how did red john figure out about the seven names? that's what i wanna know
que hermosa melodía
I think many of us expected it to be brett plat. and that would be too easy thus they chose sheriff
i would have been mad if it was kirkland or bertram or styles because it would be so predictable...the 2 best choices were the sherif or bartridge...
@@Omar00L Just because it's not expected doesn't mean it's a good choice. The sheriff was the one person without charm or creepiness. I don't know if he's a good actor but certain had none of the skills for this role.
@@smurfyday lol did you even see the episode in season 6 when jane went to the sheriffs area? he certainly Was creepy there. you just hatin and unwilling to look at this normally because it wasnt someone you wanted it to be. give the man credit, like that scene when jane and him were talking about Hunting? pretty creepy. sheriff had alot of menace about him in that episode.
He can't have made Lorelei say all the names in existence. The writers made this a mess I think.
@Arjun Kumar Yes, but at that point Lorelei was already dead.
@@thenomad4123 When Jane was about to kill him, Red John told him he went to a real psychic to get the list...which he got months before Jane even made the list.
@@osmanhadzalic9060 Where did he say that? Jane said I don't care and strangled him before he said anything IIRC.
@@thenomad4123 it's right after Jane said "I don't care". Red John was saying "I have a real psychic..."and Jane strangled him before he could finish the line. You can check the official dialouge or subtitles or whatever and see it for yourself. My guess is he was gonna say he has a real psychic in the Blake associasion or as a friend.
Edit. He didn't strangle him after grabbi g him by the throat, he asked him the questions first and then strangled him.
So anyone gonna tell me how the fck red john knows the list? I still cant figure out to this day.
6 is the number of man
Notice he named himself 6
Cause deep down red John doesn’t believe in GOD or an afterlife
He would pick the number of mankind
pretty sure 6 is Satan, my guy. 666. he chose himself as The Devil.
Red john patrick janes greatest rival
Alguien sabe como se llama y quien interpreta la canción gracias

I was thinking that Jane is red john because he may hay multipersonality problems

Serial killers target victims of opposite gender. For the first 2 seasons I even believed Grace Van Pelt could be Red John.
The best plot would've been if Patrick himself was Red John
I thought he had a split personality and it was him early on
I agree. Was also suspecting CBI Ron because he was always hanging around but in the background. It would have made a great flashback sequence at his final reveal.
Lame, lazy, and makes all the episodes meaningless. I'm so glad all of you aren't writers. Just because something would be a shock doesn't make it good.
Shutter island vibes haha
i dont think so. thatd be pretty stupid.
Even patrick jane didn’t know how red john get the list of suspects
Then how red john got a list?
In few episodes before this they kill the guy from DHS who breaks into Jane's loft and copies of the research with a fake list but Red John gets the correct ones with the information Jane has used to make the deduction.
@@MrShades77 He made that record before jane even wrote his first list
It's like "God did it". Just because he didn't know doesn't mean it's a big deal. A well-placed spy or tapped phone or bugged car would've been enough.
this list should be the Red John.
SECONDO ME E' KIRLAND....ma come fai ad avere questo filmato che nella serie stiamo alla puntata 19???
So who betray Jane and told Red Jon about the list , when he was about to be killed by Jane He want tell him in exchange for his life but Jane said I don't care so who was it???
no one...red knows all jane was doing so red john thought like jane and had the same resolution as him...how jane made that list...by thinking and having data...so red john used the same data since he known for sure all jane is doing.....

Red John is sheriff Thomas McAllister, even Patrick defeats him in mockery mode rocks, paper and scissors in chapter 2 of the first season
Seriously dude...even tho most people watching this clip will have seen that finale, d'you really have to put the answer to the entire show's biggest spoiler right up there? Not cool.
What goes through your small pathetic brain that tells you spoiling anything is a smart idea? Do you find it funny? Do you feel smart? I dont understand stupidity so enlighten me.
Did you figure this out all by yourself, just by watching the show? Truly impressive.
i mean. if you think John wasnt losing on purpose in that rock paper scissors, i think you werent really paying attention throught this entire show. its all about manipulation and pretending man... if John was winning the rock paper scissors he would be suspicious. nah, he was enjoying how he could lose on purpose and act so good jane actually thought he was winning legit.
es real ????
Sarah Garcia no
Yes, this is a documentary.
Red John vai se lascar na mão do James
I dislike the idea and don't believe that he (red john) was a psychic so he read Jane's mind
Lame psychic considering Jane got the drop on him!
No one was a psychic on the show, or in real life.
i call it sexist. why men always have to play the big bad villain. for once make women the big bad, gruesome, heartless, most dangerous villain and make the protagonist beat the shit out of her. Now that would be fair and that would be a neutral state of society. xD
