I was doing exactly that, massaging my wrist. Thank you because these exercises worked even better than sleeping a thumb brace!

    Here are my two cents:
I had a terrible thumb and wrist pain on my right hand for well over a week. I couldn't even pick up a glass of water or push down a door handle. Wrist straightening exercises only made things worse. I'm already physically active, so I don't think weak wrists are the issue. I did wrist stretches, wrist exercises, cold compresses, wore splints whenever possible, massage with cold creams, but no matter what I did, it did not help. At one point I was afraid to fall asleep because I knew that my hand would not be functional for at least a couple of hours when I woke up the next day.
And then I found these massages, and - my God, instant relief! Especially massaging that point below your elbow made my whole right side - from my palm, to my shoulder completely in tune with itself.
Word of advice: Try these massages in a body of water after a short swimming session. I got better in less than two days.

DO THIS MASSAGE, DO IT NOW!!
Like many of you commenting here, I am too so grateful for these videos (this and the one with the exercises) I have been in pain since June 30th and wearing the splint, diagnosed with WRIST tendinitis even though my OT did the De Quervain's test, he sent me to wear the splint and do heat compresses and off course those painful wrist massages. When I complain about pain he only tells me to have surgery! I have now the same on my other hand for about a month! and on the original hand I have been in this awful pain for about 13 weeks; when I found this video I just massage my hands casually, not even 30 seconds, maybe 10 seconds each. I woke up 75% better the next day. Now I have done 2X a day for 3 days and I am 85% better. No more splint or ice or pain cream. THIRTEEN WEEKS!!
Thank you for this video, also he's so funny! I love this guy! 🥰

Hello! just wanted an update on your situation. I indoor boulder/rock climb as a hobby and I've been experiencing pain in the thumb part of my palm (the big fleshy piece) and was just wondering if you experienced similar pain or not?
Also, hope you're wrists are stronger than ever!

@@PRO_OF_MC Yes I am! However I took a more serious approach. I used a thumb + wrist brace you can buy online or at a pharmacy for 2 weeks. Didn't climb, didn't do any crazy sports. I mainly just biked. I massaged each night after watching that video and my thumb is mostly all good now. Coming back into bouldering, I had to take it slow the first week and rehab for another 2 weeks or so. Now my thumb is pretty good, however it depends on your severity.

    • @D4NKN4
      @D4NKN4 9 дней назад

@@PRO_OF_MC I would suggest to rest for minimally 2 weeks, wear a brace if you want to or not. Really just avoid excessive exercise. You don't need to ice it, rather inflammation is a good sign that your body is healing itself. take it slow and massage it!

These massages made a HUGE difference to the pain I had in my thumb - pain from cycling a couple of days ago that made it difficult to use my thumb for anything requiring pinching. My thumb might still need days - perhaps weeks - of rest, but I suspect Mr. Physio's pain relief massages (shown here) and exercises (shown in the next video) will significantly speed up the healing. I’ve tried everything for the last 10 months to relieve my thumb pain to no avail. I was SHOCKED to find this was more muscular and tendon/nerve issue. When I palpated the forearm muscles referenced in this video, I was shocked to find them sore and painful to the touch. Ten minutes of massage (which was the opposite of what the “self acclaimed best physiotherapists guys” on RUclips suggested) I was 98% pain free! I will keep doing these that Mr. Physio suggested. 감사합니다. 감사합니다! 😊

Your video just popped up as I was LITERALLY massaging and attempting to lessen the pain. But as you pointed out, I was doing it all wrong, which only intensified the pain. I did one session, as I followed you on my left wrist, in fact stopped at 9:02 to tell you EUREKA, it works! I have been suffering for years...and sleep with brace, try to wear brace often, and as I type, impossible. And within 9 minutes and 2 seconds of your sage advice and instruction my left hand's pain is alleviated! Haven't yet done the right as I wanted to write you. : ) I realize exercise, the proper way as you instruct is the best method to work and retrain? those areas? Will come back to follow again. Thanks mate ! You were quite spot on, this alleviated my pain by at least 50% after I also did the recommended exercises (next video) which I had absolutely no idea how to perform without causing any more damage/pain. I really love the fact that you took time to show and explain the how & why, it saved me quite a bunch of research :D

Finally a good video 1k stars well explained… Great job Doc I have all these symptoms on all my left arm due to using a massage machine that damaged my arm. This very effective and really does target the right muscles. No OT/PT therapist will cover this correctly as this Doctor. ….

well, I love how you provide alternatives to what I have been told since one year ago: a PCP told me it is De Quervains and game a brace to wear. when that didn't work for six weeks, I went to New York to my favorite Hand Surgeon, who told me it is "arthritis" at the base of the thumb; he gave me a needle. It worked!! Until recently, the sensations of discomfort have returned - not as ferociously as last year, but I again reached for the brace. Recently he told me to use Voltaren ointment and I am trying it. Today, I ride my 10-speed for five miles in the 99 degrees and it helped (steering the bike). What will you say Mr. Physio? "Arrgh!"

This has helped me SO much! I play the harp, and was to the point that I could not play the left hand at all. I do this massages and a few stretches everyday before I play, and now the pain is gone, and the only thing I cant do yet is the interval of a 10th. But it will come. I no longer need a wrist guard at night to keep from hurting my wrist in my sleep. There is still one certain movement that causes some discomfort, but its minimal and not often. Thank you!!

I normally think of all of these types of videos on such techniques as garbage. As a person who has had excruciating pain for years on the top and bottom of my thumb and wrist with no relief from steroid injections or other methods, after briefly and halfheartedly trying most of the suggested techniques shown midway through the video, I truly noticed a significant difference right away in like 5 minutes. These massage techniques are nearly miraculous. My only suggestion for me personally and why I almost totally gave up on the video, is that many of these videos take TOO much time explaining the science and physiological reasons for the condition while those of us in immense pain just want to get to the remedy ASAP, which you will find starting at approximately 5 minutes and 50 seconds into the video if you want to get right to the solution, which does work. I am VERY grateful for your video and you have shown me how to diminish the horrible pain I've endured in my thumb/pad/wrist for decades. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Popping and clicking is due to weakness and the stretch which was there. Strengthening excercises restores the length and elasticity of muscles and their tendons

I’ve been a nanny for years so the repeated motion of picking up babies is how I got de quervains. I had surgery a few years ago and the stiffness and pain is not better over time. I’ve considered why this could be, thinking maybe the tendon wasn’t released all the way, but just starting these exercises and they seem to be helping already! Great information and explained well. Thanks so much!

My left wrist turns swollen about a months. Friends around me have no idea on how to deal with it. Their suggestions is either go for an injection to stop the pain or acupuncture. Some suffered from mother’s wrist before advice me to just wear the thumb support guard and stop doing heavy duty. I tried massage the pain area, however, it turned swollen right after. Currently, I’m wearing my 3M thumb support guard and I do feel better when I place the hot water bag to keep the affected area warm. Your sharing is so precise and informative. Now I know what I should do beside wearing the support guard. Thank you Mr Physio!!!
