for anyone debating between the slim keyboard and the keyboard w/ touchpad, don't get the keyboard with touchpad. It is trash for a few reasons: 1. the keyboard with touchpad is not sturdy. The connector to the tablet is not stiff, so if youre typing on your lap, everything will wobble. (The slim keyboard doesn't have that.) 2. The touchpad itself is *abysmal*. It has weird issues where it doesn't start scrolling until several miliseconds in, and this is both frustrating and causes a lot of issues surprisingly. There also doesn't seem to be a middle click. I have 8GBs and 256GB model of 8+, and 6GBs 128GBs on S7. The only difference I notice is I don't have to transfer my work to my microsd card as often. Actually not at all. From my 3GB external Toshiba hard drive, both transfer files lightening fast. I use both daily. Like the size difference and OS difference, both perform great.
Another super critical yet easy to follow review from TGT. My uncle has been looking for an android tablet and this is just the video I can send to him! Typing this on my ipad 9 I got after getting your recommendations, it's really lovely!
I believe the reasoning behind not having the 512gb model is because its far cheaper and convenient to just have your data on sd cards or flash drives which can be connected to the device to transfer your data. When you get up into the terabyte range its much better to just have a cheap tower computer with hard drives or an external hard drive. That way you can transfer your data from your PC to your sdcard/flashdrive/external harddrive, and then to the tablet. If you had an apple or ios device, that simple process is an extreme hassle. Another thing you take for granted is that this tablet runs android and has that kind of flexibility. compaired to your ios counterpart
also the fact that the minimum has been raised from 64 gb of internal storage is a plus as 64 gb really isnt enough to contain all your apps photos and videos depending on how much you use it. Itll go by much faster also considering the entire operating system is also taking up some of that space
conclusion, 128gb is plenty for any tablet.. if you need more space just buy an sdcard or flash drive and adapter. The fact you are upset they dont have the higher storage compacities shows that you dont regularly use external storage devices.
I'm from Costa Rica. I bought my S7 (Wifi 128 GB) last year because I was looking for an iPad but found a good deal in latam's samsung official distributor page. Its cost was 500 USD (limited time offer), but now it costs 810 USD. S8 tab (5G 128GB) costs 980 USD and comes with a Watch 4.
i shall be getting the S8, dex is just head and shoulders above the other makers offerings. as i mostly use trading view, having the option to extend to an external monitor is just awesome.
As a uni student that'll be using the tab for note taking, light sketching and various productivity tasks, do you think the standard s8 model will suffice for that, and is the display difference between the s8 and s8+ that noticeable? Loving your videos btw
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I think it will definitely suffice. The Tab S8+ display is nicer, but it's also more expensive and it's a larger tablet - so there are other considerations. Here's my comparison: ruclips.net/video/o3mdlt4Ar0Y/видео.html
As a engineering student who takes notes on a tablet fulltime, I personally like the 10.9 or 11 inch formfactor a lot more. Be it an iPad air/pro 11 or tab s7/s8. 13 inch is a bit to big and it does not always fit well with my uni sitting arrangement. Portability takes a little hit too.
Hi. Great review. For tab s7 and/or S8 (Plus or Ultra) users , what do you think of Netflix and other streaming platform experience, specially with its LCD or Amoled display either in day light or night? the colours, the grey sides are they bothering? on a scale of 10, how do you rate your Media Watching experience?
I own an S7 and has got an S7+ , while streaming Netflix I don't see much difference in well lit scenes, when the scenes get dark , the vanilla S7 falls back a bit, everything looks washed out compared to S7+. Also battery life on the S7>>S7+ To the S7+ I give 10/10 To the S7, I give a solid 8/10 The speakers are amazing on both, viewing angles are also pretty good for an LCD One thing that I don't like about them is both of them got literally no coating on their displays , so they're as reflective as a mirror when the brightness is low
@@mahardhipeddu2496 The battery life on S7 is far better than the S7+? So I think I should choose the S7 or S8 at the momment. For me, battery is one of the most important spec :D
@@minhthuanduong2692 true , I get about 15 hours of SOT during light use , with brightness around 1/5 the maximum. Doing the same with the S7+ I get around 9-10 hours
Hi there, I wanted to ask on minute 2:26, that you have both tablets side by side one of them has the bottom app bar narrower than the other one. Is that only for the s8 tablet or is it a setting? I love your videos by the way great work keep it up!!!
I actually like the difference in the OS why I kept my s7 after getting the s8. The fingerprint reader is another reason I kept it. Prefer it on the power button then on screen. It's so immersive I don't notice any functionality difference. Both do what I need to do. Just got an update for my S8+ a few minutes ago. This is my 2nd or 3rd one since January.
Thank you for the great video! In Indonesia (according to the Samsung Indonesia website), the S8 goes for around $697 while the S7 LTE is $800. Is this a mistake, or was the tab in the video the S7 FE? I was pretty shocked when I saw the price difference 😂
Im thinking about trading in my tab s7 for the s8 since it's only $150 right now. Side note- What's the weird xray paper thing he used to identify the speakers?
Great video. As a student going into university, is it worth it to upgrade from the Tab S7+ to an S8 Ultra for so much more money? It’s a lot for similar functions.
Yes, $200 more for just a bigger display. Seems a bit of a hike to me. Samsung charging what they like as there is no competition. Their 15-inch Galaxy Pro laptops are only $50 more than the 13-inch lately.
What do you use it for ? What apps . You could trade it in samsung trade in values are usually really good and you might get some extras but look around
Unless you’re in an art major and want a big tablet for drawing, definitely do not upgrade. The + size is big enough. Plus the ultra is too heavy from what I heard at a best buy store.
Nah if you're going to study in many places and want portability, the s8 u will be harder to fit in your bag and heavier. Stick with the current one so you don't regret your purchase
I'm curious about how SnapDragon 8 Gen 1 is fairing on the tabs. I'm noticing how slow that chip is on the S22 Ultra vs. my Note 20 Ultra's 865+, especially in Samsung Notes, which is the no. 1 selling piece for me
Ironically, where i live (Brazil), the S8 is 2000 bucks pricier than the S7, which is pretty rough since I'm on a budget, but also wanted more years of support with the latest model. Sadge
If you have a Samsung discount (Samsung money membership, student, military), you get $260 off the tab s7 making it under $400. The Samsung discount will also get you the keyboard cover for $100, which is 50% off. So right now you can get both the tablet and keyboard cover for around $500.
Which one do you suggest, M1 iPad Pro 2021 12.9 inch or Tab S8+ for University note taking and some work like MS word, Excel, PowerPoint etc...? The iPad is 875$ and the 8+ is 795$ in here for the 128Gb. Note/ I want to use apps for free because in my country, we don't use Credit Card or something like that so I can't pay for apps online.
That's a really good price for the iPad Pro (In the US it's $1,099). Here is my comparison - I hope it helps: ruclips.net/video/mMWdunYiJpI/видео.html I'm assuming you can still download apps from the app store (because the iPad Pro doesn't come with Office).
@@CrisCheese_ I am worried about the performance of the 8+, I don't know if it can keep up untill another 6 years cause I have to study 6 years in university and I am in 1st stage.
I have a tab S7. It looked like the processing benchmarks were similar but S8 had better GPU performance. Anyone know if that would be helpful for Lightroom?
Samsung had an amazing trade in special and I upgraded to the S8 ultra. I don't know how the benchmarks compare but it feels like the old days when you got a new phone upgrade and everything is faster. The magnetic slot for the pen in the keyboard case is amazing. The file transfer speed in the port seems much better too.
I'm an s7 user. Do you see the difference between the two regarding display? People say that s8 has better white-balanced display. I don't even know what it precisely means.
I don't understand the "bump" you are talking about in regards to memory/storage configurations. Disregarding that you say "the Tab S8...and then give the configuration options for the Tab S7. You explain that the Tab S7 comes with 128, 256 or 512 GB of storage and all of these have 8GB of ram. I don't understand why you separate the 128 option from the other two. Then for the Tab S8 you show options for 128 and 256GB both with 8GB of ram and say that in that context you are getting a little bump with the 128GB version.
I have a Samsung tab S7 , and I wanna know that can you use s8 case / keyboards on s7 ? I couldn't find s7 keyboards with good price in my city but I found s8 keyboard/case with a good price and I wanted to know if it's worth it to buy the s8 case/keyboard
Have tab s7+ 5g. Watched this video to see if someone more knowledgeable than me could explain the difference. For what I use my s7+ for it's not worth upgrading. I know this video wasn't about my specific model but got enough information to decide to not upgrade. Thank you
I'm looking at both tablets to help me through online college, I just need to use the note feature and to use my resources for the class. Is it worth the money get the s8, or will the s7 be ok to get.
I had the tab s7+ and it was amazing. Only got rid of it because after like only half a year the thing would only charged when powered off at the speed of pond water so it was not dependable. I wanted another one because I used it so much but opted for the more reliable ipad pro. Its weird but there is certain things the ipad pro does way better but android in the s tablet line is lit. I tell people to get a used s7+ over paying for the s8 because of the value. There is no way the 8 imporved enough to justify the price difference. It was already amazing when I had it and because I still have the keyboard/stylus pen who knows when I will ever pick up a referbished 7 or 8+
Im watching this on my tab s7 and i got to say I will propably keep mine for 2 more years until one comes out with more features bcs the 7 and 8 are pretty much the same
They did the same thing with the s10+ where the 1TB was the max option then with s20 ultra they removed the 1TB storage. Considering the tablet has dex and insane features we should have 12GB RAM 256GB based on tab s8 and s8+ while 1TB option with 16GB RAM while the s8 ultra should start at 16GB RAM 256 GB base go up to 1TB or even 2TB storage since they are calling it laptop alternative so 256GB and 512GB comes with 16GB RAM than maybe a 32GB RAM option with 1TB and 2TB model considering that to utilize this storage we would want that insane RAM. 8GB RAM shouldn't exist of android flagship territory on a tablet 8GB RAM feels very less considering that s21 ultra came with 16GB RAM Samsung took a step down with their s22 ultra making 8GB RAM the option considering the note 10+ got 12GB RAm across the whole board with 256GB base.
Tiny bezels are fantastic for laptops, but I don't think they're needed on a tablet where you need enough surface area to hold the device with minimal screen contact. This obsession with bezels has gotten silly.
Not really that much to compare. It's up to what you want. Oled, larger screen on S7+ and smaller screen, lcd, better performance and longer software updates on S8. Some people prefer smaller screens, others bigger. I'm just annoyed Samsung (and Apple) are refusing to put better displays on smaller tablets.
does the s pen of the 8 work on the 7?with all it’s functionality? I ask because I am looking to buy an original s pen for the s7 fe but for the life of me I can’t find an genuine new pen.
For the PH, I got mine for abOut $823.33 for the 256GB WiFi option. I wanted the S8+, but unfortunately, that will cost $1254.71 already, which is pretty steep. They only sell the S8 at 256GB (Wifi or Cellular) and the S8+ at 256GB (Celullar only), so that's why there's a $400 difference. It's pretty sad I didn't get to have the S8+, but I think I'm pretty satisfied with my tiny tablet c0mputer thing HAHAHA
If there is up to 1 terabyte of external storage, and you said that running files/apps from the external storage was generally fine, can you explain why wouldn’t you just choose the lowest internal storage configuration and use external for the rest? Companies usually up-charge you in internal storage as compared to an equivalent amount of external storage, plus the sd card that you buy can be used with other devices, if you wanted.
@@TechGearTalk yeah, that helps, and that’s what I figured. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something, because from your summary it sounds like the all configurations of the Tab S7 and Tab S8 have 8 GB of RAM, but you didn’t like that the S8 doesn’t have the 512 GB option. But if RAM is all the same regardless of configuration, idk why you wouldn’t just always go for the 128 GB and have an SD card pick up the rest of the slack - as it’s probably cheaper.
Right now the S7, if it isn't already sold out, is $97 off at Best Buy for $553. That to me is a better value. If the S8 were to go on sale for about $100 off then that's when I'd get it.
Love your videos. They're really helpful and informative! I'm a college student. I'm looking for a cheaper tablet that will help me with note taking, drawing, watching lectures and reading. Since I'd prefer a bigger screen, should I go for the s7+ or s8+?
im an ipad user..for a while now..but im itching to try good android tablet just wanna draw on it...so im eyeing galaxy tab..but dunno whether to go for the latest one or maybe s7?
Very good comparison, its exactly what I'm was expecting to see, now in Brazil 2022 September 1st, the tab s8 has price difference about $US200 higher than the tab s7, so it's not worth it to buy the s8 right now.
I am hanging between s7plus and s8 wifi models. I like bigger display but as all are saying S7 plus will stop getting software Updates in a year or so. Will that be a problem for me in future if I go with s7 plus now. Or should I switch to s8 ? But s7 plus is at my price point now.
Hey, I just want to ask which would you recommend the s8+ or s7+? Or any of the s7 and s8 series.. I will be using it for my schoolworks and the likes (I would most probably using it by this summer class, so I am now looking for a tablet now). As I find bringing laptop to school to be a hassel and heavy... and it will be my first tab. So it was a little hard to decide between the 2 (s7+ & s8+). Since I find the s-pen a add bonus unlike in the apple. (I just cross off the ipad pro and air of apple since it was a bit expensive and the acessories was sold seperately.)
If the price is very close, I would go S8/S8+. Otherwise, it would depend on the difference in price. If you don't need something now, you can wait and see if the tablets get discounted by the time you need them. Hope that helps.
Grab the S7 plus if it's on sale. I got mine for $750 CAD during a sale on top of student discount. Otherwise, go for S8 plus for bundle deals since it's still early.
I never understand the argument about upgrading for os updates alone. If you like your tab on the current OS you'll still like it when the newer one's get updated, plus they release new tablets every 1-2 years so most people aren't even utilizing the whole update cycle before upgrading. I feel like people who are upgrading from s7 to s8 just want to justify spending more money when they know they don't have to
Thinking of getting one here in the Philippines, it costs around 800usd for the wifi version via the official channels, waiting if the gray market can take it closer to the States' retail price

I have the tab S7 along with the book cover track pad keyboard I'm curious will it fit the tab S8 instead of purchasing a hole new book cover for almost $400 bucks after taxes??
I found that the S7plus right now is several dollars cheaper than the latter S8, which made me consider buying soon. However, this is the last year that Samsung is gonna be pushing some software updates... Question: Is Software update a major deciding factor? I am really confused. ps... I am more into savings but I also want quality over my purchases.

Another super critical yet easy to follow review from TGT. My uncle has been looking for an android tablet and this is just the video I can send to him! Typing this on my ipad 9 I got after getting your recommendations, it's really lovely!
Thank you os much for the kind words. Super glad the videos are being helpful!
iPads suck
Always looking forward to your videos!! Sooo excited to have my s8 tab this Monday!!
CONGRATS!!! Really excited for you! Thank you for the support!
I just got the s8. 1st Android tablet and it’s pretty awesome. DEX mode is the best feature
I'm in the UK and I have just got thr tab s7 I got it refurbished and got it for £314 and it's absolutely amazing.
On tablets you want decent bezels on it so then your hand can rest on them and you wont get accidental touches
i shall be getting the S8, dex is just head and shoulders above the other makers offerings. as i mostly use trading view, having the option to extend to an external monitor is just awesome.
@@TechGearTalk wow, thanks for your input. Will definitely check out the link, I'm already binging all your videos anyway lol
If you have a chance go and check out a display model to do some comparisons it will really help you get a feel of how you will jse it
@@JH-tj1qs buy the s8 plus coz it's almost same size as a a4 sheet paper, once u see s8 plus in store u will regret buying smaller s8
Great video🎉
Also battery life on the S7>>S7+
To the S7+ I give 10/10
To the S7, I give a solid 8/10
The speakers are amazing on both, viewing angles are also pretty good for an LCD
One thing that I don't like about them is both of them got literally no coating on their displays , so they're as reflective as a mirror when the brightness is low
The Samsung Tab S8 cost around 900 dollars here in Mexico, i'd rather remove this as a purchase option 😔
Here in India it is 826 dollars for basic wi fi version
I think Samsung noticed that not much people actually buy the 512 GB mode for the 11 inch model.
yea I think its not that big of a deal when you have the option to add up to 1TB more with a micro SD card.
Wow 1st review I actually found useful... Good job
Madlad
Tab S8 fingerprint reader is on the ppwer button as well
Thank you for the great video! In Indonesia (according to the Samsung Indonesia website), the S8 goes for around $697 while the S7 LTE is $800. Is this a mistake, or was the tab in the video the S7 FE? I was pretty shocked when I saw the price difference 😂
Here in India s8 is for 761 us dollars and s7 lte for 826 dollars(samsung india site)
Im thinking about trading in my tab s7 for the s8 since it's only $150 right now.
Side note- What's the weird xray paper thing he used to identify the speakers?
Superb review... thanks a lot, I'm still confuse 😁☕️ in my country (indonesia) both s8 new and secondhand is still expensive
Hi with tablet would you use when you playing game and shooting for school work☺
Great video.
@@CrisCheese_ ok, thanks for your help 😊
Thanks for the review!
Is it possible to connect Tab S7 to a Windows laptop and use it as a drawing pad? kinda like Wacom.
Thanks!
I am curious; does the Auto-Framing feature work in apps outside of Samsung's camera app such as Teams or Zoom?
8GB RAM shouldn't exist of android flagship territory on a tablet 8GB RAM feels very less considering that s21 ultra came with 16GB RAM Samsung took a step down with their s22 ultra making 8GB RAM the option considering the note 10+ got 12GB RAm across the whole board with 256GB base.
what is the film you use kind of like X-ray?
Tiny bezels are fantastic for laptops, but I don't think they're needed on a tablet where you need enough surface area to hold the device with minimal screen contact. This obsession with bezels has gotten silly.
Can you do comparison video between s7 plus and s8? Since they have almost the same price. Can't decide what to get between the two. Thank you
Not really that much to compare. It's up to what you want. Oled, larger screen on S7+ and smaller screen, lcd, better performance and longer software updates on S8. Some people prefer smaller screens, others bigger. I'm just annoyed Samsung (and Apple) are refusing to put better displays on smaller tablets.
It has been almost 2 months since I've placed my order for the tab s8. Still waiting on it.
does the s pen of the 8 work on the 7?with all it’s functionality?
Here in India it's 826$ for 128 gb wi fi version...
Hi Doug. I would only upgrade internal storage if it gave me more RAM (and I wanted/needed) more RAM. Hope that helps.
Hi there. Is the same book cover keyboard case (with detachable keyboard) on S7 last year compatible with S8?
yep, they're the same size so the keyboard works on both
Right now the S7, if it isn't already sold out, is $97 off at Best Buy for $553. That to me is a better value. If the S8 were to go on sale for about $100 off then that's when I'd get it.
Trade ins make it worth it. Some colleges/universities give ipads out, not for free of course, but discounted. I'm about to trade my iPad in for a S8+
Amazing well explained video. Thanks!
I am hanging between s7plus and s8 wifi models. I like bigger display but as all are saying S7 plus will stop getting software Updates in a year or so. Will that be a problem for me in future if I go with s7 plus now. Or should I switch to s8 ? But s7 plus is at my price point now.
Does the S7 have a high-end amoled screen? Does it have the 2nd Screen function like I've seen demonstrated on some other reviews for the s8?
Neither of these have AMOLED and both of them have Dex
@@TechGearTalk there is a difference between dex and second screen. Basically 2nd screen goes in the opposite direction as dex.
Is there difference between TFT LCD in S8 vs IPS LCD in S7?
Both are tft
Always great reviews and insights
may I asked what kind of tablet holder u got? oh and I like ur opinion on both tablets
Did they both come with Samsung garage bloatware? Might be a deal breaker.
@@TechGearTalk Thank u..Now I feel better..I will just wait a few more months to buy it...maybe it will have a discount...
Grab the S7 plus if it's on sale. I got mine for $750 CAD during a sale on top of student discount. Otherwise, go for S8 plus for bundle deals since it's still early.
Why you do not do Camera Reviews and Comparison videos? Already 8 months gone, we can not get camera reviews video on your channel ??
I never understand the argument about upgrading for os updates alone. If you like your tab on the current OS you'll still like it when the newer one's get updated, plus they release new tablets every 1-2 years so most people aren't even utilizing the whole update cycle before upgrading. I feel like people who are upgrading from s7 to s8 just want to justify spending more money when they know they don't have to
Simply get confused with so many users giving you update or upgrade directions on RUclips.
What is that green sheet that allows you to xray through the tablet? I've never seen anything like that!!!!!!
