You really make that look fun. Most American servers really hate having to go sing happy birthday or something like that to customers. But I loved going to Farrell's Ice Cream in California. The entire wait staff had to love dancing and singing and were required to audition. They weren't just food servers, they were entertainers and loved performing. I got that impression from your maid hostess.

I think the reason many call it cringey is because they find their enthusiasm fake. But I think they should look at it from another perspective. Since the maids try their best to be cute and enthusiastic, they should be good sports, relax and go along with it.

@Ken narville And a darn good one, too. Based on what I've seen in interviews and such, she is legitimately passionate about her work. Hitomi's not just some maid. She actually runs that place. She's the cafe's President and she's also the Chief Business Officer of the company that runs the establishment and its various operations. She's also an official Akihabara Goodwill Ambassador who's traveled to different countries to raise awareness for Maid Culture.
I want to take my dad to one of these! The thought of seeing a grumpy, middle aged military man casting cute spells for his food and wearing cute little ears for a photo is so funny to me!!!!

Ik there are a lot of anxious introverts like me saying "oh I could never go to one of these" but honestly I'd leave all my anxiety behind if I went to a maid cafe because these women are so incredibly sweet and hard-working, and I would hope we could kind of make each other's day brighter in a way because the whole experience seems so nice (and of course adorable)!
I was in Akihabara during a study abroad trip last summer and I wish I could have gone to a maid cafe but I just sorta went with what my group was doing instead of visiting one :< I hope I can go again and try it!

Maid cafes are good fun for kids and anyone of any age really if you like cuteness. I work as a butler for a maid cafe in the US for anime conventions. Its very fun for everyone. I have had guests of all ages from elderly to children, to single people to families. Nothing preverted in the least its why they have the no recording rules unless you get permission to turn away the few potential pervs. But of course you can take polariod pictures with them for a fee and buy keepsakes. I will warn you its quite pricey but well worth going at least once to know what its like and if you'd maybe go again someday. Like Disneyland pretty much but interactive lol.
I think this is probably the most Japanese video I've ever seen. This is like if someone were to come to the United States and come to Chick Fila and there is a sweet old southern lady following you around saying, my pleasure.

The atmosphere for a Maid Cafe is similar to our US restaurants doing something special for my Birthday, but the Maid Cafes do this all the time and do allot more. Pretty cool, and dont know if I will ever get to go to one. Thanks for the video.

Too cute! I visited a maid cafe in Akihabara a few years ago and it was a huge culture shock. So. Much. Pink. (and dancing before I could eat). I guess the best thing is just go with the flow and enjoy the kawaii.

i had two weeks of vacation in japan recently, and i purposely went to @home cafe just to see maid hitomi! she is just the cutest!!! but she wasn't there when i went, just my luck. but i had a great experience! definitely a must do when in japan!

To the people saying its weird or cringy or odd its because thats the culture and that's what they enjoy so of course its gonna be weird to people in america or uk watching it because we arent from there and arent use to seeing things like that,sure the forcefulness of the cutest aspect could get on someones nerves but at the end of the day its simple entertaiment over there and things are usually kept kid friendly in a way so i can totally see a kid coming in there and having fun interacting with the maids and such.

Last year I went to Japan for a few weeks, and went to the Maiddreamin Cafe in Tokyo, the environment was very pleasant and everything was just soo damn cute! I’m from the USA, so it was quite a change from what I’m used to. Totally enjoyed it and would like to go again!

After all these years, I still love anime. I've watched a couple of Maid Café videos and they seem interesting to go to. I couldn't stop laughing at the part where you did the little dance routine before you got to eat your food. I would like to visit a Maid Café when take a trip to Tokyo, but I don't know if I would be able to keep it together doing the dance routine, cause I would be laughing the whole time.
