Welcome to my official Sid Meier's Civilization V (Civ 5) RUclips Tutorial Series! Founded in 2016 and revitalized in 2021! Civ 5 is perhaps one of the best 4x strategy games of all time. This series will cover over civ v tips and tricks for beginners as I guide you through how to settle a city, what cultural policies to choose, how to tech up fast, how to take cities, win wars, defend your lands, negotiate peace, take to the seas and much more! Well @The Spiffing Brit and @PotatoMcWhiskey if you see this I'll buy BTC to the moon ;)
About the game:
Sid Meier's Civilization V is a 4X video game in the Civilization series developed by Firaxis Games. The game was released on Microsoft Windows in September 2010,[3] on OS X on November 23, 2010, and on Linux on June 10, 2014.
In Civilization V, the player leads a civilization from prehistoric times into the future on a procedurally generated map, attempting to achieve one of a number of different victory conditions through research, exploration, diplomacy, expansion, economic development, government and military conquest. The game is based on an entirely new game engine with hexagonal tiles instead of the square tiles of earlier games in the series.[5] Many elements from Civilization IV and its expansion packs have been removed or changed, such as religion and espionage (although these were reintroduced in its subsequent expansions). The combat system has been overhauled, by removing stacking of military units and enabling cities to defend themselves by firing directly on nearby enemies.[6] In addition, the maps contain computer-controlled city-states and non-player characters that are available for trade, diplomacy and conquest. A civilization's borders also expand one tile at a time, favoring more productive tiles,[7] and roads now have a maintenance cost, making them much less common.[8]
Its first expansion pack, Civilization V: Gods & Kings, was released on June 19, 2012, in North America and June 22 internationally. It includes features such as religion, espionage, enhanced naval combat and combat AI, as well as nine new civilizations.[9]
A second expansion pack, Civilization V: Brave New World, was announced on March 15, 2013. It includes features such as international trade routes, a world congress, tourism, great works, as well as nine new civilizations, eight additional wonders, and three ideologies. It was released on July 9, 2013, in North America and in the rest of the world three days later.

I don't know about the majority of people but I find Civ 5 so much funner than 6
totally agree
Same
Same I still play it almost daily
Same
100% agree
Love to see someone is still posting civ 5, just got back into playing the game myself.
It’s just so addictive I can’t stop 😅
@@JumboPixel u lost 100+ science in the beginning by not working the great scientist tile for like 15 turns, thats full 2-3 early techs wasted, made the rush towards writing pointless. Kind of a big deal, should have plopped it on a grassland tile imho
I'm far to casual a player to enjoy Deity. It just feels so much more unfair than challenging that the AI gets such a large boost at the start. I Honestly just like playing Prince for the most part. Easy, Fun, flexible options. I still do lose sometimes, but it doesn't matter because I'm just doing what I want. It's just such a fun relaxing game. Thanks for the content man.
Although I very much agree losing on prince is outrageous😭
@@lichh4054 Lol true. I haven't lost on prince in a few years, but still, it can happen and I don't much mind. I have small children and usually wind up playing late at night, so I'm falling asleep as I do, so I'm really not paying that much attention. Like I said, i just play for fun and relaxation.
i used to play on king exclusively until i figured out how to utilize specialists and citizen management. now i can play on immortal with no problems. i think i'll be able to play deity soon and i've only been playing with intentions of getting to deity for about a few weeks now
@@lichh4054bro is in utter disbelief that new players can lose
I typically plant academies on grassland tiles without fresh water. That way you can always work the tile because it produces 2 food, and you don't lose any civil service farms. Alternatively its good to plant on iron or horse tiles because the academy connects them to your trade network, and you usually want to work them for the extra production anyway.
Planting it on strategic resources such as horses also make sense, because you keep the strategic resources you put your academy on. This can be good for early games because you want as much production as possible. But it does lose you a little bit of production.
4:00 You could take social policy after ruin explored, at the same turn. It's mean that you lose one turn and 3 culture from Tradition.
He also didn’t mention it but he gave up fresh water moving off of the river to be on that hill. It at least should have been a consideration before he decided since a garden is pretty powerful (and there's almost no chance he gets a free garden from hanging gardens on diety). He probably also should have bought out to the granite tile after he got the gold rune since it is a better tile to be working than the cotton early on (especially since the city grew out to the cotton instead of the granite and then he met a city state for even more gold). Also, moving the scout one tile and then pressing healing is pointless because the scout won't recover any health unless it fortifies. If you moved it then it won't fortify. You essentially used up half its movement points and then said next turn fortify and start healing. You might as well have at least used that other movement point to get it into your territory to double healing.
Had to 🥧rate this after seeing some of your vids, no way to find my hard copy again. Keep up the good times.
Last mod for Civ V I tried was a few scout upgrade paths but they were all glitchy.
If you have reasonable production and or trees to chop down you can easily get great library on Emperor
Jumbo I'll give you a hint: Use musicians to survey your borders so that no tiles (particularly in your BACKYARD) is foggy... infinite barbarian mech infantries respawn can be quite deadly in late game! And musicians have that magic gift that makes them respawn too! Unless it's a drummer, there's always lack of good drummers...!!
I sometimes struggle with production with Babylon if I don't start near 2+ hills. Should I just reroll those starts at higher difficulties ?
Great video as always! Do you think you could post the map seed or whatever the Civ 5 equivalent is called, as I'd love to play this map from your position!
i love these challengs please do more
Will do!
Maybe diplomatic as Greece?
Oooooh yes I haven’t done a diplo run in a while too!
The number one tip to win Deity: survive until the atomic bombs and missile cruisers. Be friends with everyone in the beginning. Once you'll be able to build missile cruisers, build as much as you can. They're the best war ships because they can attack sea and land. If you have half a hundred of them, you'll win any sea battle
ok i see you ma man is cranking 90 s
Mans triple editing on these defaults
@@blockachockyt1163 lol triple ding
He didn’t see it but it was
Where is part 2?!
this is late but you should do mod videos for civ
Yooo your a kiwi! Chur
How no ai player nearby???
im watching this just to be better at the game, hope this helps!
I’ve got something in the video oven for you then! Releasing tomorrow 🙂
Are you sure you’re not the internet historian? ;)
Is there a part 2?
I stream 4-5 days a week, all streams available after the fact on RUclips and Twitch. This was recorded live over 8 months ago, not sure sorry
Big Island start? This is not a deity difficultly campaign because naval ai is terrible
Shut up
I don’t understand why you’re so concerned about defense when you are literally playing solo half the game
