My great grandmother made it to her late 90’s with snow white hair braided and down to her waist. I look just like her, same bone structure and hair texture and I can’t wait to be in my late 90’s with my waist length hair. 😛

I'm for long hair at any age. I'm of a certain milestone age and I don't care what people say. It's easier to throw up and put it in a nice thick bun. I will stay away from rides or wear a hat. Have a fantabulous weekend, Lou! xoxo

Appreciate videos on this topic, there aren't enough. I'm 53 with waist length hair and no plans to go short. I tried a bob in 2007 and it took so many years to grow back that I treasure it long.

I had a pixie cut for four years as a teenager. I think older women with long hair is such a beautiful thing, it makes them look waaaay younger than a short hairstyle. I especially love when its gray/white and long. Such a cool fashion statement to do that, I think when I reach 50-80 I'll be rocking the long gray hair look.

I was told by my family that I should cut my hair soon as I was married and have children. There is a usual thing in my family that hair is cut and permed by the suggested time. Every woman in my family past 30 looked the same. I still have long hair.

My mom (65) cut her hair short at 35 and never went back to long hair. She thinks that long hair is for young women. I however disagree with her and still have long hair at age 37. I had a shoulder length 70ish shag cut with bangs at 35 years old for fun, but I like my long curly hair and will rock it as long as I want.

Oh yes ,I remember reading that story or seeing it in the news. The little girl was in the go cart and I think her hair got stuck in the engine. I always think of it when I am at any fair.
My grandmother had long grey hair to her waist into her late 80s. After it was washed mom would braid it and she would wear it in a bun. I go back and forth from long to short. I have always loved the bob so I have it shorter for the summer. I trim it myself and have since covid when I had it the longest in years. I have saved lots of money doing it myself.
You have lovely thick whiney hair and a beautiful colour. You can wear it any way you want and it will look great! So glad you are back Lou and I wondered if you would return.
I am looking forward to your upcoming videos. ❤

Exactly, that's what I think. I'm 68 and have long hair, still thick and I fix it many different ways. My thoughts on that is don't look at it if you don't like it. I'm not cutting my hair bcoz younger people think older people should have short hair. I can't wear short hair, I have a square jawline so long hair for me. I've seen a lot of elderly women with long silver beautiful hair. My sister does as well. Long silver hair and it's beautiful ❤️

As long as you have good hair, I say wear it any length you want. I'm your age and just cut 12 inches off my hair...only because, although I have a lot of hair, my texture is very fine. It looked a little scraggly due to that and it's already getting hot where I live. I just didn't want to deal with it anymore.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a lot of older women that come into my workplace as patrons, I'm an assistant librarian, and they all have short cuts.
Some say long hair is just too much for them to deal with. Others say it's more "appropriate". Some don't seem to have a reason.
I tend to see women in they late 50s on up having short hair. The higher the age, the shorter the hair.
I'm a guy with long hair, and a lady with short hair told me that men shouldn't have long hair. And in my mind I'm like first off I can do whatever I want and secondly your hair is literally way shorter than mine 😂.

It's funny you brought up the show friends because you remind me so much of the blonde from that show. You are so beautiful! Thanks for this video in 43 and always had Long hair everyday compliments me on. But it's getting thin and I've been wondering if I'm too old for long hair but i grew up in a home and church that believes females shouldn't cut their hair and i feel like it's become a part if my identity. So this video makes me feel better about keeping my waist length hair. Probably should just trim the dead ends. But i wear it up a lot anyhow. Have a blessed night

Whenever I see an older woman with long, healthy hair I'm very impressed (I'm younger)
I think everyone should decide what makes them feel good, but especially if you have healthy hair at an older age I think long hair looks super pretty. Unfortunately many experience thinning with age or have thin hair to begin with, in those cases super long doesn't look so good. Also has to do with face shape.

I worked at a large corporate theme park for 7 years. One of the "grooming rules" for female hairstyles was that hair could only just touch their shoulders in length. It must also be pulled back into a pony tail and out of the face. Any longer and they'd send you home. I'm sure that these rules were both for safety of the employee and for sanitary reasons, if the person worked in food services. If the person worked in the Rides department, for example, some of the mechanical devices could easily see hair get caught. Best not to tempt fate.

I have the redhead gene, so I need more Novocain than most and I still only have a few random silvers. Isn’t that a weird gene expression? Ooh, and I’m the 50th comment. Nice

The feeling of hair on my face annoys me to no end. Bangs are the worst for me. So yes... ladies, do whatever makes YOU feel good. I'm at the age where I don't care what anyone thinks. Myself being born in the early seventies, I have thought many times that my parents generation would be the last ones to seriously claim that a woman should cut her hair when A: being a mother and
B: at least when turning 40, everything else would be distasteful.
Let this idea die out with them.

I often hear that, but my question is... at exactly what age do you become too old for long hair, and where exactly is this immutable law written (and who wrote it)? I am 60, and my hair is down to my butt.
I see these 'makeover' videos where they cut the long hair of an older woman, then say 'see, she looks so much younger!' No, it's not the haircut. It's the fact that she started out in frumpy clothes, no make up, and was kind of hunched over because she had pretty much given up putting in any real effort into her appearance. Afterwards, she is in new, stylish clothes, has a ton of makeup, and is standing much straighter because she feels better about herself. That exact same transformation could have been done with doing a nice hairstyle with her long hair instead of cutting it. You put any woman in new, stylish clothes, and professionally done make up and hair, and they will look 10 to 15 yrs younger.
From what I can see, short hair on older women became more of a thing when older people stopped living with/being looked after by family, and started going into homes - it was easier/ less time consuming for carers to look after that way.

The long and short of it, wear your hair the way you want. If it becomes a burden to take care of, then that’s the time to consider a more manageable length.
