    Last night I rewatched this, for the first time in eight years, and you're right, it's basically just another sequel. Derek Mears was really good as Jason, I like the 23 minutes long intro scene, and for those two reasons alone I might recommend this, but remainder of the run time was fairly uninspired. The only kill which stood out for me was when Jason flung the ax, we see it spinning through the air, before landing in the guy's back. I can't even recall that character's name.

    I love friday the 13th remake. I thought it was a really good remake. Derek Mears was awesome as jason. It's one of my favorite of the franchise. Definitely in my top 10

    Okay Sorry for commenting on all in the series basically all at once I've been watching them the last few days. I'm gonna go to either Halloween or Nightmare series next haven't decided which Nightmare prob! But I will actually comment on those as I watch them haha I'm quite happy I found your channel man you are great. I hate those channels that give like 5min reviews you can't get anything across explaining movies in 5min! And I didn't have the highest hopes going into this movie but I do like Jared as the lead guy as I also love Supernatural. And Treat.... prob one of the biggest Douches in all of the F13th franchise though he also has one of the best lines in horror movie history.. "you have perfect nipple placement" LOL! I also Love the cops death as well as he stabs through him and it kinda pans through the door with his eye on the other end classic. Plus the first Twenty min before we got a title card were sooo good. I also really liked Jason in general in this I liked that he was living at the camp wanting to be left alone under ground. I also loved that he ran like 100mph.

    I've always enjoyed this movie since I first saw it. Like you said, it isn't really a remake, just another sequel with a recap of past events at the beginning.

    The sleeping bag kill was fucking awesome! One of Jasons best kill of all time! Fucking brutal! Love how he plants the machete into the kids head that’s in the bear trap. Derek Mears was an amazing Jason.

    I saw this at a 2nd run theater with my girlfriend on my birthday and I found it to be awesome. I actually enjoy this remake more than the original FTT however it was not as great as part 2 and 3, or the Tommy Jarvis trilogy (especially part 4). I enjoy this as a condensed version of the first 4 FTT films. If there ever IS a Jason/Michael flick (aside from the awesome YT fan film), they must make it 2009 Jason VS RZ's Michael.

    Problem with remakes is these movies are not ready to be remade yet, wait 50 years , that should be the rule for any movie remake, and i disagree about Halloween if it came out today, i think it would still be a hit, i think that's what we need to get back to show less of the killer stay in the shadows come out at the end perfect formula show Gore or don't it will still work because of its done right it takes our mind and runs with it

    Julianna Guill is awesome. It's becoming extremely rare to see a studio horror movie (or really any movie) that is this shamelessly and unironically geared towards males.

    +Sinister cinema reviews Just purchased the killer cuts version of the remake. I have the theatrical version which I've stuck with watching. I honestly don't know what to expect for the killer cuts version. Uncut kills deleted scenes probably? It's been a long time since I've watched the 2009 remake so I might watch it tonight. But anyway, awesome review on the movie by the way! ^_l

      Hey sinister cinema! Just watched the remake a few days ago. I thought the movie was Awesome! It brought Jason back to its roots with teenagers going to camp crystal lake and being killed off by Jason which to me is the definitive way to make a Friday the 13th movie. Jason is hardcore in this movie. First off, he runs again. Ever since part 5 Jason started walking and stalking his victims. To me, that's more of Michael Myer's thing. But in the remake, he's making sure that he nails down his victims by running toward them. And second of all, I thought he was brutal in this movie. Two of my favorite kills is when Jason kills the girl in the sleeping bag and burns her in the bonfire. And my second kill is when Jason killed the blond chick who was skinny dipping and stabs her in her head with a machete. I thought The characters were fine for the most part. Very well acted to me. I saw characters that I liked and characters that I disliked throughout the movie its like a good combination of the two routs. Plus, the cinematography was just eye candy mainly because we got Daniel pearl from the texas chainsaw massacre remake to do the cinematography. That guy really knows how to use a camera. So yeah, that's my opinion on the Friday the 13th remake. Good plot, good characters, awesome Jason, awesome kills, beautiful cinematography, to me this movie is top notch. Although if there were to be anything that didn't work for the movie, we didn't really get to see much of Jason's face. It's shown in the behind-the-scenes features but not in the actual movie for some reason. Besides that, I thought the remake was great. Sorry it didn't really work out as well for you though. If there were to be another Friday the 13th movie to come out, hopefully it'll improve for you. All and all, awesome review for the remake! ^_l

    Saw this once with my cousin way back when and we both downright hated it. The dialogue, the characters, the suspense, the kills, the directing, the ending, my god especially the ending is goddamn shit. One of the worst remakes ever. Great review, but your much nicer to it than I am ;)

    So somewhere in your review of the Friday the 13th series, I’m not sure which movie, but I laughed out loud when you said that a female character deserved to die for leaving the water on as she brushed her teeth! LOL I am big on not doing that! Anyway, I enjoy your channel.

    I don't know what it is about this movie but every time I see it, the next day I can't remember anything about it lol. I must have seen it 5 times now and I still can't remember any of the kills or much of the plot lol. I guess it's just not for me.

      Efrain Carrasquillo yes. It made over 100 million dollars so I’m not sure why it didn’t get a sequel. They have went through so many failed attempts at a new one in these 8 years. I do believe we will get one in the next couple years though

    This was not so much a Friday the 13th movie as it was a Jared Padalecki film. I like Jared Padalecki so I had no problem with him. But for some reason and I can’t explain where this is coming from with me, it seemed as if this group of kids should have been able to get away from Jason a bit more successfully. Meaning at least five characters should have been left alive by the end of the film.

    I'm surprised that I still can't find any Friday the 13th reviewer who acknowledges that a couple of the sequels don't take place on a Friday. I believe 2, 3, and 4 happen back to back.

    at least in this one only a few hours transpired between jason's supposed drowning and his mom's rampage. it never made any sense that originally he didn't drown in 1958, didn't return to his beloved mother, but when he saw her beheaded decades later in 1980 he then became so enraged he went on a killing spree. if he loved his mother so much it seems like he would have returned her as soon as he was able; not remain separated from her for the rest of her life and spend the rest of his existence trying to avenge her.

    • @sinistercinemareviews5420
      @sinistercinemareviews5420  6 лет назад +1

      John Runion they only did that because they wrote themselves into a corner. They only intended to make one and they killed their main antagonist. Jason was the only connection they had but I bet his dad was thrown around the table before they decided on the Jason thing. I have fond memories of my Friday The 13th sequels growing up so I’m stoked they were made despite all logic being thrown out the door but I’m the first to admit I like stupid films hence why the 80s slasher sub genre is my favorite.

    • @johnrunion5357
      @johnrunion5357 6 лет назад

      yes, i agree. the first film was intended to be a one off movie. it's surprise success far surpassed even their hopes and expectations. back in '81 there was much speculation that the first film would get re-released and perhaps become an oft-released film such as the original texas chainsaw massacre. instead part 2 surprised everyone when it was released. they were just making this stuff up as they went along without any plan. i have been expecting mr. voorhees since 1984's 'final' chapter. thanks for the reply.

    What a waste of money , total garbage . There's been only one remake that I've seen that was any Good and that's Texas Chain Saw Massacre with Jessica B., infact I like it better then the original. Never Hike Alone is a way better movie and it cost him 50 or 60k to make. And a final note , I would rather watch the remake then Jason goes to hell.

    If it wasn't for Derek Mears, this would be my least favorite of the twelve. He carries this movie on his own. The characters are forgettable, the audio design is annoying, and the visuals are ugly. It was a big disappointment. Sure, we don't need a complex script or anything, but certainly they could have put more thought into it than this.
