I had changed the cabin air filter which is located around the same place, and when pulling it out it disconnected one of the terminals, started giving me the "transmission fail warning" and I freaked out, but found the solution here. Took me 45 seconds to get the battery out, reconnect the loose cable and back in, and problem solved! no more transmission fail light and no huge dealer charge!
It is the exact same for me. I went back to the guy who changed the AC filter for me and asked him to verify if something is disconnected while changing the filter and he did find the disconnection. No more sign!!
Hi Dave, thank you for the Video. I have that warning message right after I changed the AC filter from the passenger seat. After going back to the guy who replaced the filter for me and showed him your video, he found out that a cable is disconnected while he installed the new the filter. He plugged it back and the warning went off. $0 cost.
Thanks so much! We called the dealership and asked to order their battery, $295! My car repair place told me to bring in for a diagnostic, $189.95 then I am sure it would have been another $1k to fix. We saw this and figured we might as well try it, $24. FIXED thanks so much!!!

Thanks a lot Dave! The failure started with the same warning as you show, started after the coupé filter has been removed and changed. I checked it as you show… very good, the failure was caused by the yellow cable wich became accidentaly disconected. Now works right again. Best Regards from Sweden. 🙏👍🏽

This cured the problem in minutes. I had this problem for nealy a year with lots of different ideas as to what needs doing. In England I bought the exact same mini battery from Amazon for £19 and it took me 2 min to fit and all is now perfect. Thanks Buddy.

Thanks for this information, I have a 2014 evoque, when it travels a longer distance continuous like 100kms it stops pulling, then on the dashboard it indicates restricted performance. Then you you need to park for hours for it to starting moving again. What can be the problem? Please helo

A simple internet search should show that there are several sights that have them. check the other reply's for suggestions. Battery's Plus may also have one that will work but it may be more than on the internet
good morning , we have the 61 plate 2012 model and we have the stop start funtion , changed main battery as was the wrong battery inside , we have got the eco to work now but still getting all the errors , i have taken out the haldex pump and cleaned it , tried to reset all codes but instantly come back we dont have the battery either behind glove box or at side of the main battery is there anything else i am missing Thanks
I don't think so. As long as the original terminals fit securely on the battery terminals you should be ok. you may need to squeeze them a little to make them tight
I have done the same myself , here they are pretty standard house alarm batteries £12 to £15 they fit without any problem and are the same as Rover use ,but without the premium charged.

Power sonic is who makes the battery for range rover and it was around $25-30 model PS-1212. I searched the internet/amazon for a 12 volt, 1.2 amp hr battery, and then checked the measurements for one that would fit. $13-20 for the same from different vendors. They were almost the exact size and 1.3-1.4 amp hr which will work fine. The OEM battery measures 97mm x 43mm x 52mm plus the terminals. Same size or slightly smaller is ok not larger or it won't fit into the compartment. In the short term, start the car and let it run for a short time until the car recharges the aux. battery and that should eliminate the fault message for the trip/day.

Hi! Thank you but apparently this battery is not on the 2015 Range Rover Evoque. The dealer told me it needed all new tires and that was the problem. It still did the same thing. I took it to another mechanic who works on Range Rovers and he found the problem. It was the 2 front tire sensors. So he had to change them out. $500 job that the dealer would have charged 2-3k!
In my country 12 volt 1.3 Ah battery is available but that is not helping me resolve this problem would like to know if only 1.2Ah and 1.4Ah compatible with RR Evoque ?

Dave, I bought a new battery just like yours but it didn't have the extended tab on the black negative. Will it still work or do I need to buy that tab and solder one on?
yes it will still work, you may need to make an adjustment with a plyers or screw driver to make it fit securely or use a soldering iron to remove the old one and put it onto the new battery
check these 3 things that may be needed to be changed ( FUEL INJECTOR, or FUEL FILTER , or FUEL PUMP) ... because I had the same problem turned out the fuel injectors .
I got this Auxiliary batter issue with my 4 years old Merc S Class as well - been to Merc dealer shop 2 times. It will come back again. Don't why this aux batter is not charged fast enough - maybe because too many short journeys?
Hi Dave S. could you possibly give me the name of the Dealership you purchased your battery from. Their phone number if possible, the prices here in my state is stating 350.00. I would pay the price for the battery and install myself. My vehicle is giving the same message and would go off after a short time but now it just stays on. Had the car battery checked other day, that battery is only a year old and is working properly. Dealer didn’t mention auxiliary battery at all, didn’t know it had one. If you let the car run for 10-15 min it should charge the battery enough to eliminate the message after you restart the car. if that works it is a battery problem and this test should work if the battery is getting weak. If it is totally dead you need to try a new battery. A new battery at the dealer is over $100, on line much less as I explained in the video and a battery is less than $6,400
In one of your replies you say that it will eliminate the fault for the day and in the description you mention that if you let the car sit long enough it will fault again so is this not a permanent fix for the error code?
When the car sits for several days the battery discharges enough to create a low battery that causes the fault message. In my case starting the car and letting it run for a while would charge the battery enough to eliminate the fault until the car sat not running again for several days allowing the battery to discharge enough to recreate the fault once again. the weaker the condition that the battery is in, the faster it will go into fault

It's been a while since i replace mine and i have lost the link. Check battery junction, size is most important, then amps, better to have the same or a little more not less
The battery is not holding a full charge and needs to be replaced. The car does a system check on startup and the low battery triggers the fault. If you let the car run for a while it will charge the battery enough to clear the fault after a restart and another system check unless the battery is totally shot.

Models with auto start stop feature have a bigger aux battery instead. It is under the bonnet behind the windsheald wiper cover.

Every now and then, when I get in to start, it will not turn over and that warning comes up. I jump start and it is fine until it happens again.

there should be a panel below the glove box that you have to remove to access the battery in the upper left corner

Your aux battery sits under the bonnet on a passenger side. There is a plastic cover under your wipers, you'll find it there

If it is totally dead you need to try a new battery. A new battery at the dealer is over $100, on line much less as I explained in the video and a battery is less than $6,400
In one of your replies you say that it will eliminate the fault for the day and in the description you mention that if you let the car sit long enough it will fault again so is this not a permanent fix for the error code?
When the car sits for several days the battery discharges enough to create a low battery that causes the fault message. In my case starting the car and letting it run for a while would charge the battery enough to eliminate the fault until the car sat not running again for several days allowing the battery to discharge enough to recreate the fault once again. the weaker the condition that the battery is in, the faster it will go into fault

It's been a while since i replace mine and i have lost the link. Check battery junction, size is most important, then amps, better to have the same or a little more not less

Why does the ignition is fault come up?
The battery is not holding a full charge and needs to be replaced. The car does a system check on startup and the low battery triggers the fault. If you let the car run for a while it will charge the battery enough to clear the fault after a restart and another system check unless the battery is totally shot.

I believe the 2014 model doesn’t have this little battery. I have a 2014 and they say it the auxiliary battery (mid-size one in the right side) that causes the same problem
I have a LR4 Land Rover and I have the Trans Fault light and Parking brake Fault at the same time, and my truck wont allow me to put the truck in gear. Is everyone here having the same issue with the Trans Light? Are you able to put your car in gear?

dear help me.my rr evoque vehicle was accident 3 months ago.and its always started.now.i accident repaired and i chaged my air bags.dash bourd. .but 3 month later (today).i clicked my engine stop botton.and also i chaged my main battery.but my car not crank.vehicle shows gear box fault immobiliser fault abs fault.and more.engine not start.
Na het wisselen van het interieurfilter was per ongeluk 1 kabeltje van deze accu los geraakt. Kreeg dezelfde foutmelding: "Transmissiestoring Selecteer parkeerstand voor stoppen motor".

Thanks for this information, I have a 2014 evoque, when it travels a longer distance continuous like 100kms it stops pulling, then on the dashboard it indicates restricted performance. Then you you need to park for hours for it to starting moving again. What can be the problem? Please helo
