  • @MFEGoingDeep if you like Landlocked Salmon whether it’s fishing for them or just as the cool fish that they are than you are going to like this video. I was extremely fortunate to find myself in the right place at the right time to be able to capture this footage as several of these trophy size fish had congregated for their annual spawning season. You will notice the camera will jerk occasionally which is from one of the salmon bumping into it or the tether line but other than that they were very accepting of the underwater drone and its presence among them as there are several times it is mere inches away from them! Certainly one of the mornings out doing this I’ll always remember 👍🐟

    AWESOME is right! What beautiful fish! I miss the depth in the upper corner though…..

      They are beautiful fish one of my favorites! The water was shallow here maybe at the most 10’ and no lighting required which is why I framed this differently without any of the time date and depth stamps on the screen. It’ll be back on there especially when going into deeper waters 👍

    Cool footage! I subscribed to your channel. Spent many hours trolling in pursuit this beautiful, elusive fish without a lot of luck, and you find so many with your underwater drone here. There's some large fish filmed in this video, and love just watching them swim around. I'm a catch and release guy so I can appreciate this footage without dreaming of them on my dinner table, lol. They seem to like all that wood structure near bottom here. What time of year is this, and how deep? I've fished Rangeley Lake and Mooselook quite a bit, but have much better luck turning up Brook Trout. What lake is this footage from? I have a drone page myself, but not the underwater type... check it out if you get a chance. Would LOVE to get one of these aqua drones, and you seem to have a good one here... they seem fairly expensive. Keep up the great work.

      Thanks I appreciate it! This is in the fall during their spawning time so was able to find a bunch congregated together in fairly shallow water less than 10’. Lots of the elusive breeding stock some nice ones! Definitely planning on checking out that area, Rangely and Mooselook hopefully this spring. I’ll check out your page too! 👍

      This is from a few weeks ago, in the areas I was seeing a lot of the other spawning fish just on a different day.

    How do you like the Qysea drone? I run a Gladius Mini and had the M2 Pro, but sent it back due to poor image quality. Nice video

      Glad you liked the video! I’ve been happy with the Qysea drone but it’s also the only one I’ve personally used so as far as first hand comparisons to others I really can’t say. With all the research I first did it seemed to be the right choice and been happy with it for sure!

    Ive recently been fishing a lake in NY that has, almost exclusively, landlocked salmon. Ive caught ONE in 10 trips. Anyone out there know what the best lure / bait is for these? The one i did get was on a small (3") medium shallow Rapala. I know its not the topic of this video but id appreciate any advice!

      I’m not familiar with fishing for them down your way, my experience has been first thing in the morning or end of the day you might be able to get them higher in the water column but typically finding the thermocline and running downriggers, leadcore line or dipsy divers with spoons usually is the most productive. Trying different speeds and colors till you find the recipe that works. Orange and gold and neon blue I’ve had luck with, one particular lake pink was usually the hot color. Hope this helps, good luck!

    Do these land lock salmon die after spawning,,?

    • @MFEGoingDeep
      @MFEGoingDeep  3 месяца назад

      There may be a very small percentage that do but for the most part they can spawn multiple times once they’ve reached maturity. Im hoping to identify some that have returned the coming fall being able to compare video year to year. Their spots are all unique so they have a pattern that I’m thinking could be recognized. We’ll see what happens.
