- Watch this video featuring Jamey and Sam in a stunt show • Car Stunt Thrill Show ...
Turn up the volume and enjoy this raw footage of the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee Dodge Charger and the Smokey and the Bandit Pontiac Trans Am called Trigger get after it across the countryside.
There's no music, just the natural engine sounds in this string out of footage from an old shoot I did years ago and includes many of the shots that didn't' get used before.
I directed, shot and edited the original video for Hot Rod Magazine so go watch that video when you get a chance...it has over 3.8 million views!
• GENERAL LEE VS THE BAN...
Both of the cars used in this video are owned by Mark Osborne, so HUGE thanks to him for letting us beat on them so hard!
The driver of the General Lee is Sam Young while the wheel man in the Trans Am is James A. Smith.
I hope you enjoy this footage as much as I do.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe and share!

Lets admit there both pretty badass legendary cars
They sound amazing too. No stupid subaru boxer or weak turbo 4 banger sounds
@@Captain_Brown_Beard I just love classics but cant afford but maybe later on
Me too haha. Im working on an old bmw with a V8 in the mean time though until I can get a real classic.
@@Captain_Brown_Beard bmws are like one of my favorite cars you must have read my mind xd ha
I'm so jealous... I thought I was special with my old fiat 500 and with my friends AMC Pacer
A Smokey/Dukes crossover would've been awesome. Can you imagine a conversation between Buford T. Justice and Boss Hogg?
It can still be done. Hollywood will find a way
Most of the original cast members have died. It will either be a typical butchered remake, spliced in scenes from stuff we've already watched, or entirely cgi. No thanks.
💯 Perseent and some moon runners.
@@peacebewithyou911 You right there they do not have any new ideas. Only past stuff with woke ideas.
@@adamsifford6228 Not everybody is into praising Hitler like some conservatives are.
No annoying soundtrack just exhauste . Perfect
Let's be 100% honest guys, nothing looks better drifting around turns in the country than the General
Lastashio trans am does
Ok, honest it is. The Trans Am handles better, looks way better and put side by side with the same size engines in stock trim, the 400ci Pontiac would leave the 400ci Mopar in the dust. The Charger was a lot heavier and the Trans Am had better horsepower and torque. So, before all you Mopar guys start yelling "yea? Well let see it run against the hemi!", ok, the Hemi was an option in the Charger but the 455 was an option in the Trans Am.
@@jenningsmills5398 .. Actually the Street Hemi put out a peak hp of 490.
@@dochollywood4576 Sure, the 455 was an impressive engine, but we're talking about HERO cars here. No. 1: The Bandit hero car very clearly had "6.6" plastered on the shaker (the 400ci) which made respectable-for-the-time 200hp that pales in comparison to either the 440 Mag/6-pack OR the 426 Hemi. It's even outplayed by the 383 Magnum, which made 335 bhp. No. 2: The 455 SD (which made crazy power for the time) was only only used through the '76 model year. We're talking about a '77/'78 car here. And let's not forget, the Firebird had a curb weigh of roughly 3,600 lbs. The Charger was only 300 lbs heavier. Given the 100-200 hp gap (depending on engine), this is a pretty moot point.
Don't get me wrong, I love the crap out of the Trans Am. It's been one of my all-time dream cars since I saw the movie. But saying the Firebird overpowers the Charger in a straightline is uselsess. The facts don't line up. However, the Firebird DID have a more modernized suspension set up and definately would have handled better. So when choosing between the two, it's really a pick-your-poison sort of deal.
At the end of the day, it's important to remember that you're allowed to love multiple cars at once. It's not like your going to hurt their feelings. I''m a self-proclaimed Mopar guy through-and-through, but I love Chevys, Fords, Pontiacs. Anything from the 60s, I'm likely to enjoy. Heck, I love me some Japanese Muscle just as much as Detroit Muscle.
Edit: Oh yeah, and saying that the Firebird looks better is subjective. If that's your opinion, that's cool. But please don't use matters of personal preference as arguing points. It just makes you look silly. That's just some advice from one angry commenter to another. Cheers!
T/A looks better to me
This is every man's dream, breaking the law in some old muscle cars. Keep it up men.
Breaking the law? Looks like they didnt get above 50 on the rd
I just relived my teens
Thanx son!

@@brandykienast852 well it kinda is bc there is no imports

Yep
Mostly because the lack of computer generated imagery or CGI.....(aka FAKE)!!
That and I especially hate import tuner cars too!
Junk!!
Whoever owns these 2 cars is lucky as hell. 2 of my favorite cars growing up.
Same, this guy is lliving the dream
I'd really WANT A ROADRUNNER with a 426 Hemi.
My brother still owns the charger, sadly I had to sell the Pontiac. Although I am more than happy with my F100 these days.
My dad has both of the cars. And he said he will give me the general lee. And brother is going to get the trans am
Nothing more satisfying then the General kicking up a cloud of dirt.

What about fred
Grew up on Dukes of Hazzard. Still a fan of the General, keep flying those stars and bars.
Travis Smith Amen,
Same thing with people thing the rebel flag is racist
@Travis Smith this brings back memories of The Dukes of Hazard for me too! I loved the General Lee back then and I still think it is bad ass!
Regardless of skin color if you think the Confederate flag is racist you're just plain ignorant go educate yourself.
Nope flag is racist
I often have Day dreams of myself jumping a river in the General Lee during class
Same
I like your thinking.
Been having that one for 30+ years myself
69Charger01 SAME I got in trouble for that today except it was a pond I was thinking of jumpin
And that will destroy the car and waste a rare car people need to stop fucking up old cars if you wanna tare shit up buy a car thats not rare like a new car
Tell me why I thought the general lee was gonna jump that hill. Like I completely forgot this was not a movie😂
This clip needs a music mix switching back and forth between "Just some good old boys" and "eastbound and down.
Hey! and what about the "General Lee"?
Waylon Jennings (Duke's of Hazard) is Good ol boys. 😊
A techno remix of both. Lol
There is a edited version with music: ruclips.net/video/9kW7OBXsXck/видео.html
FraJa1980 yeah true
On one hand I love it, on the other, I'm twitching thinking about all the stone chips on the TA.
it was built for that shit
i was thinking that the whole time.
I know that if i was a car, i would much rather have some paint chips and dents, instead of getting babied all the time. i want to have fun.
both of them! A terrible way to treat a classic car. Keep em on the pavement.
paint chips aren't that hard to fix
Pretty cool footage of the iconic vehicles
Both are absolutely amazing, would love anyone of them. Stunning cars!!!!
Just two good ol boys.....never meaning no harm....man this vid was awesome! Great memories from my youth watching them Duke boys every Friday night. I love the General. Always have, always will. I give these guys credit for flogging these two classics that hard, but it was great to see.
Having ol Roscoe and Buford chasing them would have been icing on the cake!
Oh no the bridge is out yeee haaa
This is how the car videos shall be: no music, no comments, no BS. Only the real sound of the engines and the tires drifting and spinning!!!!
Heck yeah!
This is more enjoyable than football
Watching water boil is more enjoyable than football
That would be a awesome movie combination
Aarron Morton crossover
Well with the original dukes or the newer ones?
Charger vs pontiac 👌😆
@@AaronturnerPSN original ofcource
Seeing these two cars rip up the silver screen in a movie with the original cast woulda been the definition of epic.
Growing up with these two bad ass cars, seeing this was a true treat. I love that you did some real driving in them, and showcased some of the very reason these two cars were so awesome. Love this match up and these cars. Great video for the fans.
Thanks!
@@AutoEdits Now do a video with A ROAD RUNNER with a 426 Hemi against the Charger with A 440, or the Tram AM with a 454.
2 of the biggest Legends on 4 wheels.. Bad ass to see them cruise together..
This was a better chase than I've seen in a Hollywood movie in the past 20 years. No CGI crap, two iconic cars throwing gravel in the trees! Great work!
This was a fun video.
Dont crash them classic cars now boys lol
Bo: takes and does crazy shit with it and doesn’t leave a scratch on it
Thedeadlygamer pay close attention: you can usually see the whole front fender crumple after a jump
Thedeadlygamer They used several hundred Dodge Chargers while filming Dukes of Hazzard.

I enjoyed every minute of this race ..beautiful cars.
Concepción ok
That was awesome actually I thought you were going to jump the General off that bank ....cool to see people enjoy these cars for what they are instead of putting them in a glass case that looked like fun ....
Thanks! It was a ton of fun!
Bamboozel96 totally agree I culd never just stare at it I be driving that bad boy every day
Totally agree with the fact that they should be used and not packed away, especially these cars
I'ma 49 yr old black dude that was a kid in the 70s and 80s and this is the one time I smile and look past the rebel flag. 🎶Eastbound and down loaded up and truckin... We gone do what they say can't be done... We got a long go and short time get there I'm eastbound just watch ole bandit run. 🎶Makin a wayyyyyyy the only WAY they know how... It's takes a little bit more than the law could allow... Just a good ole boys... Wouldn't change if they could...FIGHTING THE SYSTEM LIKE A TRUE MODERN DAY ROBIN HOOD 📣
Nothing says America more than seeing, The General Lee and The Bandit racing around old country roads.
I love how they were driving them like they were meant to be driven and not just putting around in them like their golf carts they're actually driving the cards the way they were meant to be driven. I come in these guys for that and it's extremely cool to see two iconic cars like that just having fun and racing each other like that although I have to say as cool as the Bandit Trans Am is I still like to think the General Lee could take the Trans Am
John Davis good old car
John Davis the trans-am from Smokey and the Bandit had two carburetors to maintain the high speeds in the movie. The General Lee had one(I think).
John Abell Jr ok???? so are u saying that bc youre saying a car with dual carb setup is automatically faster than a single carb? ot always the case. it would all depend on the intake manifold. an oversized intake manifold running dual carbs could choke an engine with too much fuel and air.
TheConspiracyFact2 thank you so much for being juvenile and immature and pointing out that my speech-to-text misinterpreting what I said. now let's think with the big boys and think with our adult hats on and think that maybe I was trying to say something else and not that. That was meant to say I commend these guys. But with your juvenile mindset I can see where you might think that I was trying to be gay with my comment. Now get off of RUclips and go back to school I don't think that the 7th grade is out of school right now so go away
no.. the movie Trans-Ams did not have dual carbs.. the stunt cars were all 1976 TA (single headlights) they just changed front clip
Now that’s the beautiful sounds of America! Love the sound of V8!
This is by far the best video on RUclips!!!
talk about childhood memories and now we see a good showdown.of two of the legendary cars we all know.
Glad you liked it!
Just a couple good Ol' Boys.
Just a couple of pussys, that's how they drove around, 2 pussys.,,where the hell was the show down.
JR Ewing probably cause they don’t want to trash two classic cars.
@@hankhill5622 your darn right Hank, I don't know hwhat he's talking about
Awesome but where’s the hillbilly jamboree music???
This has the best soundtrack, the engines.
I mean, 16 American made cylinders of badassery and glasspacks, exactly how much hillbilly do you want?
No need to trash it up.
Yeah the engines might be awesome, but why not country chase music on top of the engines? That would make it complete
It’s called Bluegrass music 🎶 👍🏻
Proper muscle. Great noise from both
I just relived my childhood in 4 minutes and 1 second. Thank you! 👍
I love this so much. Needs young Catherine Bach and Sally Field look-alikes.

Very cool video Jason!
Thanks dude!
Great video with my favorite muscle car ... "General Lee" The music from engines and tires 👍
Old muscle cars - there's nothing like it. Oldschool V8 forever!!
This did nothing for me.... !!!! except bring a big smile to my face and give me that giddy excited feeling I used to get when I was 7 and something really cool was happening for real.
From the factory, the General would just flat out clobber the Bandit T/A. The engines were gutless by the time the Bandit came out.
it always looks like so much fun to slide around old muscle cars in the dirt
My new number 1 favorite you tube video ever!! My two favorite cars of my childhood, only thing missing is another vid of the chevy from fall guy ripping it up with the 79 ford bigfoot truck, hell yeah, thank you for posting!
Hell yes forgot about that one.

Where's Knight Rider KITT? General Lee, KITT, Herbie and the Bandit would be great friends
We used to do this stuff in the old tobaco field roads in mass & conn when I was a kid SO much FUN . Fields all gone now nothing but houses and roads with 25 mph speed limits.Wish I was a kid again.

This video is very underappreciated. Here we have two collector calls being thrashed on dirt and stone roads.
Both cars look awesome out there. These drivers are really good!
Agreed!
as one who grew up in the 80's this was deeply satisfying to watch lol... was this for a TEN thing or just some friends messing around?

Wow, just found this. Coolest video I’ve seen in a while! Love em both.
See folks, no music needed. All you want and need is to listen to those gorgeous engines.
Made my day, thanks!!!!
I am a Pontiac enthusiast for sure but sadly I must admit the Charger would dominate the Trans am in everything but box office remakes. The best 1978 TA drivetrain option was a sad 220ish horsepower while the 69 Charger RT could have had a 375 horse drivetrain easily overcoming any ground made up by the TA on turns or otherwise. That said both are amazing looking classics.
Peter but box office remakes? Umm the dukes of hazzard beat Smokey and the bandit quite a bit
@@Shade_tree_garage01 are you really comparing a movie made in 1977 to a movie in the 2000s....there hasn't even been a smokey and the bandit remake to compare it to, and there doesn't need to be...I don't know the numbers but considering the remake of dukes was garbage, and smokey was the second highest grossing movie the year it came out, only behind a little film named star wars, I'd find it difficult to believe the dukes remake killed it at the box office if you adjust for the difference in ticket prices. Matter of fact on checking the dukes remake made 112 million and smokey and the bandit made 300 million....lol
jrvbamafan1 dukes of hazzard made 4 movies you literal nutsack, 1997-2000-2005-2007
jrvbamafan1 also, dukes still beat the bandit.
@@Shade_tree_garage01 OK you fucking idiot, all 4 combined still didn't do over 300 million, and smokey had 3 movies and that's not even counting the other two, so crawl back under your rock before you call me a nutsack you illiterate math challenged fool...
No stupid music ? Thank GOD ! Just the sound of Detroit Iron ! Love it ! Nice vid !
Wow! Best thing I've watched in years. Great work 👍
Thanks!
well done! & if anyone is wondering which is faster, a quick bench race will tell that tale. here's a primer: '69 Dodge 440ci, 375 hp vs. a 400ci '77 Pontiac..about 200 hp.
Tom Johnson What are the weight differences of both cars?
Paul O'Neal approx. 3,800 lbs charger, 3,600 lbs Trans Am. Nm of a factor.
I got to do extensive wrenching on a 77 Trans Am with the 403 Oldsmobile. The last thing to go was the choke pipe Oldsmobile exhaust. Would like to see how the 415 dyno power did in the car after the exhaust upgrade.
More horsepower is not always faster, ya gotta get it to the ground.
James Piper no trouble there. Leaf springs are the most efficient way & the design pushes the rear axle down..very firmly. If you watch a classic Mopar muscle car on launch, you'll note the rear end rise, not drop..along with the front. The best of these were the superstock type..extra curvature to increase that effect. Flatter springs are better for cornering, given an equal spring rate.
It's like watching a movie!
Like remembering Daisy duke.and Linda Carter.adrian bardeau.
