You did a great job as usual. What I meant is that epiphany characters have too much going on for them. The only epiphany char I liked is tarnished keeper. He is amazing and I wish an item like turnover was in the base game. I prefer when a character in tboi doesn't have too many mechanics like vanillas, arachna, job, samael
I think an unfinished version of tarnished Lost that was available only in a previous wave/update looked a bit more like what you are describing. Oh well, i guess this teaches us that the current doors design are not indicative of how the tarnished characters will look.
Ngl, Im very impressed by how creative creators of this mod are. Idk how strong or weak this character will turns out to be, but I really like how they took concept of Lost and raised it to the next level

You still have the same risks as Tlost but the reward you get isn’t that good. 12 charges for a 2-4 reroll isn’t quite mediocre + while you’re waiting for charge you have no holy mantle. However you need to explore all rooms for charges = higher chances to randomly die. Tears mutiplier is nice but dmg multiplier is usually much better for early game(which this character struggles with because no better item)

the cycle: 1. A tainted lost grabs all the shards and goes to the attic 2: this tainted lost has a breakdown and becomes tarnished 3: another tainted lost finds the now tarnished lost 4: the cycle continues
oh wow im here in only 2 minutes also hell yeah! we finally got a new tarnished character! i think its a really nice detail that tarnished lost is in the attic, and we can see the lost in the attic, talking to mom in one dream (unless its a mod i have installed)

4:29 AKTUALLY, contact items are pretty GOOD as the Lost. (Not T.Lost or Tr.Lost though.) This is because when you're nearly at the end of a room (both normal rooms and boss rooms), you can just SLAM YOUR FACE straight into the enemy. Because your Mantle is about to recharge anyways! With The Virus, I like to call this the "poison punch."
0:45 if you don’t go back to the starting room and just go to the next floor, you will also find that it is on the floor of that starting room, ready to be picked up.
This is so brilliant and works so well with the gameplay, but yet is so complicated and "overengineered" that I don't think a character like this would ever fit in the base game. Very nice tho, Isaac mod creators will never cease to surprise me.
Conceptually I think it's really simple tbh. Your pocket active is also your holy mantle, and you can "spend" it to level it up. If you spend it while an item is in the room, it rerolls the item instead of leveling it up, and the item quality depends on the level of your pocket active.
very interesting balance at all fronts. he is the perfect middle ground between stock Lost and Tainted Lost. looking forward for people trying him out.
so basically the most optimal way to play tarnished lost is to always go for alt paths for the boss challenge rooms and use your active as much as you can, even if it leaves you one hit, it doesnt get more self imposed challenge than this, amazing character
I remember recommending on the discord some sort of mechanic where you break your own mantle to reroll... Obviously I'm not taking credit for this idea, the execution is way different (and better) than what I was envisioning and they probably had this idea before I recommended it. Still very cool to see it fully realized though!
Don’t sell yourself short or undervalue yourself. They most likely did steal your idea and run with it, and give you no credit/payment for it. People are selfish jackholes, and I say this as someone with experience in similarly getting taken advantage of when I was younger by people in a professional industry who knew exactly what they were doing in getting free work out of me, whilst I had no idea I was working for free.

The character is really unique and well done. But I don't know about the recharge system, there could be an other way rather than nerf the batteries. Idk to me it ruins the whole concept of the batteries
Last time an Isaac cutscene hit me in the feels that hard was the first time I saw the Dogma ending. The Epiphany team really knows what they're doing and they clearly have studied up on the lore.

i think it's more fair when higher level divine remnant rerolls item to fixed tier, like level 3 rerolls to tier 4 and level 2 to tier 3, but you can only reroll one item at a time. because you take a lot of time and efforts to reach high levels, so why not be worth it?
When they make tarnished blue baby he should start with a pocket active item called 'mega shart' which functions like mega blast but instead of shooting a blood laser from your mouth you're shitting a shart laser from your arse.
It would have been nice to know that's how to unlock him yesterday. I did a run to Beast following the vague hint and won. Still iffy on having to use the unlock command built-in. Other than that, he's cool.
just finished playing a few runs with the new character (from whcih I definetly didn't lose them all) and he is really fun, but is also probably the second hardest if not the hardest character in the game, having to choose between defense and offense adds a lot of depth but if you can't stay away from taking damage, you're toast
I'm gonna be honest but he sounds so much easier than tainted lost because he can always grt th3 mantl3 back as long as ue doesn't take damage for a few roms combined with ability to get decent quality items whenever he wants
Wow it's incredible how much worse this character is than both other losts. The tainted chars usually aren't worse than their normal counterparts, they just drastically change a certain mechanic in the game or are just different than their counterparts. I see that the mod makers just thought "how can we make this character worse/weaker/less fun?" Great job.

Personally i played them extremely greedy, but the mere moment i get an alternative reroll OR a really good item, i will instantly divebomb into being super careful and keeping remnants charged like my life depends on it.

Tarnished Lost is actually easier. In terms of stats. The perks he gets are quite way worse than tainted lost's if you think about it. Still a way of getting health back easily is great.

He lost his sacred orb. So tainted lost essentially lost what made him cool. So now he’s tarnished. But he’s making the best of what he’s got
