Great reviews of all three BSG kits. I've always loved the ships for the series more than the show itself. I even watched the pilot movie in a theater (and was kinda pissed when it was broadcast on TV only a month or so later). I especially loved the viper and agree with you that they look cooler than SW X wings. Don't have any of these kits but will pick one up someday if I should run across one.
That would have been really cool to see that on the big screen. One of the theatre's in the area will show older movies, but they don't advertise it properly and they'll show them only once a week and at odd times like a Thursday at 3:00. I wish more theatre's would show older classics like BSG and give younger audiences a chance to experience these classics.
The Moebius Viper has landing gears and crisper detail, but the Revell kit does some things better. First of all is the decal sheet, including decals even for the patches on the pilot's uniform jackets. Revell included the leg computers (which were repurposed Sharp slide rule calculators). And, as you mentioned, the proportions do differ.
I got lucky with getting two of them. Gotta get another one of these.
SHH i prefer the viper my self,,,,,,,,,,,,, I don't mind raised panel lines, I've seen the Moebius cockpit and this one done to the 9s and they both look fantastic.
Man I wish this kit was still available. Back in the day I built my viper painted with testers grey and q tips as brushes! I scratch built the cockpit with the old revel corsair kit and pilot.
Same here, I think that these are all still really good kits. I know that Moebius stopped their BSG kits because the licensing was too expensive, I hope that it goes down again and we can get kits from both companies.
@rebelsatcloudnine after 2 weeks of extreme struggle on the Takom apache kit I could use a simple fun build like a BSG kit
@@danwilliams1686 That's a good idea, I usually find building something sci-fi after a difficult project is really helpful.
I should pick one up and compare it to the build Viper that I was given so many year ago. I doubt that I could ever get mine to the level of the one my late father's friend is at, but it would be a fun build anyway.
I think that would be a really fun project :)
I built one many, many years ago. I finished it in BofB RAF livery (wgat a rebel I must have been). Unfortunately, it went MIA during a house move. It might be time for a reprise.
That must have looked really cool :) I just saw one on Facebook that they painted in F-14 Jolly Rogers markings, I think the Viper can look really good with many schemes :)
