Now Newcastle are in the money the wait may be extended. Did you know that Spurs set a world record of about 150£ million profit before Poch left. No club has got near that trading account profit. That was the time to invest in some top players.

My dad always told me they were a joy to watch. Kept the ball on the ground and always moving. So many great stories, couldn’t help but be a Spurs fan for life.
I'm a lilywhite lad of the mid fifties born. Raised and schooled in Tottenham. Fortunate to have been weaned with these and other Spurs legends such as Blanchflower, White, Norman and Mackay
My dad was a spurs fan,i was born in October 61 , he was a londoner, his Job took us up to Liverpool Formby he loved Tottenham, when i was 7 he took me and my mates to watch Everton, thanks to my father I'm an evertonian. I'll always stick up for spurs except against Everton.
Those days, I started reading about Spurs via the newspapers. TV, was not available in Malaysia then. The only visuals we had was the weekly Pathe Newsreels done by the Rank Org
Sorry for the accidental push at the wrong key. Anyway, it was a great time to support SPURS. 1st double in a season, back to back FA CUP winners, 1st British winners of a European Trophy. It was great supporting Spurs. These team is the yardstick for all Spurs teams. The nearest group to be at the same level is that lead by Burkinshaw. For all subsequent Spurs teams, they were have that level to achieve.
All my mates were Spurs fans late 50s onwards. Although Arsenal were my team , I had to go to Spurs from 59 onwards for years as their style was great and Greaves Whlte Mackay etc were immense players. Arsenal were poor from mid 50s to late 60s but I was patient.

Remember, the league and FA Cup in 1960-61 were the only two things you could've won in England from 1880 to 1960. The League Cup back then was still in its first season and no large club took it seriously. The UEFA Cup didn't exist, nor the Cup Winners' Cup. The FA also only recently allowed English teams to participate in the European Cup as well, first letting United to go to another European Cup following the Munich air crash in 1957 and then letting future English champions Wolves, Burnley, and later Spurs to participate in the European tournament.
I knew his PA back then and she said Bill became very disallusioned with the game by mid 70s due to the crowd troubles, especially away at euro games. I can remember a spurs fan being shot dead by a French cafe owner about that time. Crazy behaviour!
Yes, Tottenham Hotspur achieved the "double" in the 1960/1961 season under Bill Nicholson the first English club to do so in the last century. They did so in style scoring a massive 115 goals and that season five Tottenham players achieved double figures. Many an English club had tried to achieve the elusive double namely Manchester United in the 1956/1957 season and Wolves in the 1959/1960 season but failed.United had a great chance in 1957 but were beaten by Aston Villa 2-0 in the FA Cup final whereas Wolves were pipped to the League title by Burnley by just a point and thua lost the chance to achieve the "double".
@@martinparkus5956 The fact that these clubs that are less likely to win the league have won the league before Tottenham is able to win their third title shows their incompetence.
such a sham we don’t have managers like bill Nickerson. I don’t know what he would think of the ones today but the magic of the game went many decades ago .
One day, we'll lift that Premier League trophy and it will be one of the greatest days of our lives.
Not in my lifetime pal. I'm 6 !!!!!!

Still take Newcastle many years because they have sold their souls.

3 legends sharing reminiscences. Modest and insightful. Wonderful stuff.
The Great Bobby Smith
The team of today should be made to watch this ...especially the bit about hate getting beat
Tottenham Hotspur football style was the blue print for everything you see today

I met Bobby abt 2007 legend 👏
This is the type of football that made me support spurs different class
Cant believe I've not come across your channel b4 now. Quality content

Great upload!
The great Sir Bill Nicholson is Mr Tottenham Hotspur! If the board had backed him more we would have ruled the world!
Interesting you mention about the board not backing him.. I'd like to learn more about that

Just watched on YTube The Enigmatic Mr Greaves doc from 1969. Very-very revealing.
Superb ⚽️⚽️⚽️
The most important people at Tottenham are the fans..try telling Joe Lewis that!
Or Levy, or Alan Sugar. If we really were the most important people at Spurs, then we never would've entertained the idea of the Super League.
My youth era hero Bobby Smith, Cliff Jones and the "little Fella" Terry Dyson...Maurice Norman was the "Big Fella".
When was this programme first shown? Wikipedia lists the 2009 series episodes but not this which must be from an earlier series shown in the 1990s.

The last time Spurs won the league. Clubs like Derby, Leeds, Blackburn and Leicester won the league more recently than Tottenham
And your point is?

Before my time, but I think some fans now forget we have a fighting cockerel on our shirts, not a peacock.
Bill Nicholson would cringe at the behaviour of the today's managers. 3 legends✌️
Bill Nic wouldn't understand the word 'cringe'.
He might be smiling if our current one can emulate him.
When was this released and what was the episode called?
"The only time he praised us was when we won the cup winners cup.."
Tottenham Hotspur? Co to je ? Neznám, nikdy jsem to neslyšel. Dobrovolní hasiči, snad...
Absolutely no empathy with Spurs .Despite this loved watching this in the knowledge of the personal problems Cliff Jones overcame in his career .
Yes Jones great man
i used too ,go tou AFC
tITTENGAM
And now we have dier Sanchez and Davis..... for crying out loud ☹️☹️
The team of 60 61 would destroy the team of today
To this day arsenal still jealous of us.
