It is so popular because Thai people are open to Chinese cars and it is cheap. Most Thai EV drivers also care less about charging time, because the charging Infrastructure is still 120-150 kW. It was also only the EV in this segment for a long time. That will change with the BYD Sealion 7 on others.
This may be a RHD problem : the SO7 in Thailand and other RHD markets is really the S7 which was released in China in 2023. Changan have released an updated version in China and probably LHD markets with higher spec and much faster battery charge . Ride quality of this car in Australia is really good so I suspect it has been improved for our roads .
Also, people buy what they can afford so maybe you could check out what is available in Thailand around the same price to compare rather than compare it with cars like Hyundai and Kia EVs of a similar size which are much more expensive.
Chinese market prefers the ride and handling to be comfortable and soft where as drivers in Australia are more spirited drivers and demand the ride and handling of the car to be suited to our conditions. If not car reviewers will rate the car poorly and the car won't sell.
Other than the suspension, it seems like an ok car. Roomy, spacious, ok efficiency, ok range, slowish fast charging, ok fit and finish, and apparently fairly cheap. If they can improve the suspension, it would be a decent offering.
Sounds as though it's either under-damped... Or maybe the problem is a combination of the suspension tuning between the front and rear being not much good (needing firmer suspension rear relative to front to reduce pitching motions) and inadequate anti roll. Or all of the above
@londonwestman1 yes for sure it could help and probably would be possible. I know nothing about the suspension setup on this car but it's a relatively inexpensive car so it's probably quite basic springs and dampers, so probably easy to modify and upgrade. There might be aftermarket dampers available specifically made for this car already or if not it should still be easy enough to find something that would work maybe with minimal if any modification
There are MEB-cars in China, at much lower prices, compared to Europe. Maby some company can import them to Thailand 😉. Regarding the bouncyness of this car, maby potential buyers consider a suspension upgrade with other dampener. Here in Germany a lot of Tesla owner change theyr suspension because it is a little bit stiff/too sporty.

Suspension updates are not expensive in Thailand. I don’t think that MEB cars would be popular in Thailand. You also need a good dealer network. Tesla fails in Thailand also because of the lack of dealers. BYD which dominates the Thai EV market has already more than 100 dealers within 2 years.

I thought the S7 and S5 etc were the hybrids with the small petrol range extenders and the S07 were the full BEVs.
Hahahaa mentioning Belgiums bad roads😂😂I had a good laugh

I don't understand the comparison with Belgium and the Jaguar I-Pace ?
The roads in Belgium are to cry for and the I-Pace bounces too much
God Jul Bjørn m fam 🧑🎄
Reviewers in Australia say it rides well.
Ok maybe the suspension suits Oz roads and needs re tuning for Thai roads.
I have seen u yesterday near the chiangmai university night matket
That wasn't me.

What he's describing sounds like the damping. Would it not be possible to upgrade the shock absorbers and fit aftermarket ones? Maybe not?
