I love how Lara always chooses delivering impactful and passionate emotions in a music piece over focusing on showing off vocal prowess which she has a lot to show the audience if she ever decided to.
The way Dimash sang this song, you can tell he didn't improvise much and copied Lara's style. Dimash himself admitted Lara is his idol. Dimash's diction is to the sea, all over the place despite his wide vocal range.

dimash focuses on changing high notes to low nots and belt with shrill notes and want to flaunt his vocal range. but the artistry of Lara is way better and stable than dimash and sings it more professional and beautiful.. dimash hasn't got Lara's experience and emotions and beautiful rich voice.
@@alhadighasam3947 Just between us here in this thread, Dimash does absolutely nothing for me. He has the potential to grow into a great singer/performer, I think, but the gymnastic gimmicks leave me cold. Working with Igor might be just what he needs to turn him onto a more fruitful path. (The Dimash Dears, so so so many of them, are UNBELIEVABLY grating online. Somehow I have never gone into videos of Dimash performances to dis him and stan for the 5,342 singers who move me more than he does, yet the Dimash stans are all over the damn place. They need to get a grip before they do their idol damage with their antics. Okay, I'm done venting now. That's been building awhile. 😂😂)
I should add some comments to clear the issue why I prefer Lara's Adagio. btw the original adagio belongs to Lara. Dimash and others covered it.I should tell you why Lara's version is the best version by far and why Dimash destroyed it. many people think Dimash version is the best. but unfortunately Dimash messed this great song and music up . be sure sometimes Dimash was going to show the superiority of octaves more than the message of the music and emotions most of the timesusing vast ranges of voice and octaves and even techniques doesn't necessarily means you Do it in a right way. now I tell and show you why:
take a look and watch how he chocked himself and jumped up and down to hit the highest and lowest note. Do you really think that it the good way of singing.Yes Dimash has a vast vocal range and great technique but he is not a good story teller and interpreter . (compare him to Lara fabian- Hua Chenyu - Angelina Jordan-Morissette Amon-Diana Ankudianova- Pelageya- Polina Gagarina-.... ). for ex. when Hua Chenyu or Diana sings you forget the singer after a while and they completely draw you to the song and the music and the story. they fades.but Dimash, all time you are on the edge of your seat for a bursting high voice note ...or strange vocal issues.forget the song and be ready for a wonder.on stage there is only Dimash and Dimash and Dimash .his octaves and vocal power-lifting...... nothing else.all other things fade. unfortunately Dimash can not balance the amount or timing of his high and low notes. using too much high or low notes.jumping from one to another without attention to the drift. watch this (ruclips.net/video/xLEQzfqO_l0/видео.html) and you will find what I say.
5 minutes light singing but at 5:22 that bursting voice.for me meaningless.not transfer anything. just showing his vocal ability. Be ready for a power-lifting. look at his face at 5:14 to 5:20 . excuse me but looks like he wants to rape the audience with his voice.
Adagio (Albinoni)
is a very great classic and magnificent music. listen how Lara sings it and induces and transfers the greatness. but Dimash's version !!! Oh pathetic. you feel weakness , failure, helplessness and powerlessness and want to fall on your knees and shake your head like the singer and tremble. you fell mercy and pity for the singer. seems his mother or father has died and he WAILS and WAILS.I think he downgrades this GREAT music.he uses feminine voice too much in this song and other songs. not natural and good for a man. the wrong thing is that we think everything Dimash do is the best and Dimash behind microphone is enough. He is a great singer but very overrated.
@@alhadighasam3947 I do agree that Lara moves me more on this song than Dimash. Lara is master on storytelling. I can't barely hear what Dimash is singing because of the language barrier. I disagree with your opinion that using too much feminine voice is not natural and good for a man. What's not good about it? Music should have no limitation and it's Dimash' interpretation to convey music in such a way. Technically he's one the best singer. Emotionally he's not the best singer because emotion is subjective. People have different reasons why they listen to music. Of course, for instance metal is not emotionally moved but people love it and therefore they exist. That's why comparing musician as whole is useless because in the end music could become subjective.
Lara fabian was famous and a big fame too years and years before Dimash, before he even was born, she is a french singer at 1st, canadian and belge and she sings in russian and spanish and maybe other languages, and Dimash had the honnor to sing with her and other stars... He would do great if he could sing with Celine dion, David Garett, lindsey sterling, nightwish band ✌️

Plus she is so much experienced, her expressions, her singing, her voice texture & drama & the way she develops into the character of the song is nothing like anyone else can do.
On the other hand dimash is still a student, doing covers(mostly) and learning from his mentors like lara fabian who is like his teacher
He is still learning singing texture and expressions,mood,drama etc from these legends
His singing is not even nearly as mature as lara fabian

The *only* way I think this song could be performed better (according to my taste) is if distortion were used, like how falsetto is used here and in Dimash's version for the duality of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, like what Russel Allen does in Symphony X's The Turning.
When I listen to the lyrics, I would expect to hear the person change voices because it's speaking of a man with an evil alter ego. Perhaps if Dimash held back vocally with other songs, he's sung in the past, it wouldn't be so grating to some. Lara Fabian produces a good, controlled sound and is skilled with her interpretation. It's not easy being a top-notch singer. Lots of practice and discipline.

hard to tell as lara fabian is such a perfect live singer, with this orchestra team playing live, I doubt it was a playback.
I had my doubts at first too, since she's an amazing live singer, but after thoroughly comparing both versions, I do think it's a playback.. every little detail down to the breath patterns is the exact same, and although she is indeed a fantastic singer, there's no way it'd be this identical.
You can also tell at 2:52, when she says "though", her mouth shape is slightly out of sync with the word.

@@LyhusBlue Yes, she did another playback of this song during her rendition of 2011 with Igor. There is no choirs present on stage in the 2011 version and still has the exact same audio. I'm such a big fan of her's but her live performances since 2010 really changed and not for the best. 1995-2005 were really her goddess time.

I don’t understand why this type of comment exists and has to compare. Lara and Dimash has a different impact on the song. Lara got her own and Dimash got his. Both are beautiful in their own ways. There is no sense to cover this song if you will copy how the original did it.
Igor and Lara let him cover the song to give the song another side of beauty and artistry not some “flaunt” reasons. Three of them has a great understanding of music beyond “flaunting” ranges. Appreciate both strengths in their talents.
