Yeah but they were truly standing up for themselves that season, and Ru wasn't *quite* Hollywood enough not to give them the time of day. S1 was a gem.
It is the reason why the show got so much traction, because of the audience finales. You might like the idea of smaller focused reunions/finales, but the show would have still been smaller or even not as relevant. After S6, with the fortification of social media, the show became mainstream and had to be shown more to the public.

From 4:45 I started to cry, cause I lived the same thing I watched season 2 of drag race while I was in the closet at my teenage years, my mom never liked the idea that I was gay, and I would never imagined telling her I was watching a show like RPDR. She used to knock me out from the house and leave me by my own living on the streets several times while I was studying High School. I never gave up and continued studying, until I get a Major. 12 years later, finally I made things going peaceful with my mother. And at march of this year, she was evicted from her house. I allowed her to live with me and forgive her for what happened. And one night I decided to tell her I wanted to watch RPDR Season 15. She was ok, and totally get excited, she wanted to watch more, so one weekend she watch season 2. My mother totally loved the show and the cast, and at the episode of the diva awards, while Jujubee was speaking to his mother, she paused the chapter and gave me the apologize I ever waited for so long. Definitely Drag Race reunites families.
These early reunions are so much more endearing and compelling because you felt like all the queens were giving genuine output and not just scrambling around for fan, sponsorship or social media approval. The fact that Pandora and Shangela are sat there in the season 2 reunion with basically no makeup and homemade jewellery both kills me and warms my heart lol.
