Yes. Quite aside from the superb optical quality it offers remarkable build quality which is rare in modern lenses. The beautifully weighted, smooth zoom action and tactile feel make it a joy to use. While it's big and heavy for MFT, compared to a fast 80-300 lens it's not particularly bulky or heavy. Not cheap, but given the optical and build quality it's a bargain.

It will be a good buy 10 years from now. Hands down my favorite lens.

The 40-150 was my most used lens until I got the 12-100 and shot more video. But I've used this fantastic lens for kids soccer matches on several Olympus bodies with great results. Good that you got it out again. I used mine so much that the retractable lens hood came unglued late last year. I replaced it with a reversible one from the 300f4 lens. To me, the lens hood is the only weak point in the design, and even that is fairly minor.

I own the 12-100 and the 100-400. Is there a point getting the 40-150 2.8? I found it for a little over $500 (like new) and thinking on getting it, just not sure I will use it having the 12-100.

I have this lens along with the 2X teleconverter. It is fantastic. Easily handheld and with Olympus’s IS,I can easily handhold for video even at the longest focal length!

I have an OM-1 with the 300mm f4 lens. When Panasonic announced the G9ii I thought "great! I'll wait 'til they bring that phase detect and weather sealing to the GX line, and put the Lumix 50-200 on it as a backup." It took me this long to remember that the E-M5/OM-5 and this 40-150 lens already exist. 😅 Very pleased to see it still holds up.
    Now, Luminar Neo, you say...?

The most charming chatterbox with a lot of knowledge. Thumbs up! Though Flickr was quite disappointing.....

I think the best for overall len from MFT are 7-14mm f2.8; 12-40mm f2.8; 40-150mm f2.8.. the rest is len when you really need for your style of photography.. like 17mm f1.2 or 300mm f4

Still can't think of an equal to it even in other formats for constant aperture and zoom range and image quality. Mine is 7 years old and still sharp and solid after saltwater, rain, sand, mud.
