Unfortunately, the cat probably passed away since this. I've had 2 cats with toxoplasmosis. We had the worst veterinarian in the world at the time our first cat got it. SecondSein I know! Its not the kid’s fault, or the cat’s. It’s the Mom’s fault for letting her kid who had a harsh medical background play in the cat’s litter.
@@kayan5754 What would they do? Clean the cat's litterbox for her? The doctor in this situation would have explained that having a cat is fine as long as certain precautions are followed and the cat is regularly checked by a vet for worms and parasites (in addition to an initial check prior to adoption). This wasn't lack of education, it was irresponsibility.
My dad had had 2 kidney transplants before the age of 25 due to kidney disease there are a few things he is more cautious of bring immune compromised: first he doesn't go near or change kitty litter, no soft cheeses or deli meats, cover up allot in the sun due to an increased risk of skin cancer, he's now 57 and unfortunately due to immune system suppression he has developed many skin cancers through out the years and now has thyroid cancer he is doing really well considering everything but it's been a struggle since he was 14 having to leave his dreams of being a fire-fighter sending all my love to all those struggle from medical conditions I'd like to think my sisters and I are so humbled with both our parents having cancer and struggles through life, it just makes me want to give them everything they deserve.
They nearly lose their young child to kidney failure, know his immune system is being suppressed and that he is vulnerable to infection... "Our kid's playing in the litter box again? Oh well, kids will be kids!"

+Matt Miller Ok let's re-visit the case: Kid got kidney removed, is put on immunosupressants, parents see him play with catshit, THEY DONT WASH HIS HANDS, kid gets sick. how the fuck do you let your kid do that?
What a stupid comment. So you think buying from a breeder is risk free, or adopting from your best friend that has a cat that had kitten is risk free, or even better we don’t get pets anymore?! I don’t see a problem. In fact you could get a cat with parasites from anyone not just from the shelter and plus you just give it medication and problem is solved or you are careful and problem is solved too.
What the hell made the parents think that it'd be a good idea to have a *F U C K I N G* litter box within reach of their immuno-surpressed toddler?!?!? SERIOUSLY.
Kimberly h Despite the fact that the kid's a toddler and had no common sense, that makes them redeemable as parents? They shouldn't have even gotten the cat in the first place.
Katie Ahronson some people don't have a choice, maybe they live in an apartment where the only place they can put the litter box is in an area the child can reach. That said, my son understands that fire and brimstone will befall him if he so much as comes anywhere near our cat box. Also we have the kind with a cover.
you don't need hindsight to think "Hmm, maybe my child shouldn't play in the place the cat defecates and urinates." I'm with foosmonkey on that point in that my child would know the right hand of god would come down upon his little ass if he plays with fecal matter.
DD: Gets sick after using medicine that is clearly limiting his immune system, plays in cat shit after a heavy surgery and urinates red blood. Mom: Its fine.
I love the fact that you break down the words. It's really been helping me understand things better. My mom has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, as well as other health issues, so these help me out a lot.
Why is a child "often found playing in the litter box"? What the hell kind of parent whose child had a transplant just sits around and let's said child play in, on and/or around a litter box? How in the hell does this even happen? So this whole thing was preventable? I'll tell you why he got it and it ain't got nothin to do with him being immunosuppressed - he got it because his parents let him play with cat shit.
Jin Is Lifeu if my son almost died bc of kidney failure and by the grace of allah or god or whoever, he got a new kidney - I wouldn't, as a parent, just be like "oh okay, that's done with. Baby go play with the cat so I can watch my shows!" They may not have actively told him to go play in shit but I think it's kind of hard to miss your child constantly smelling like cat shit or having cat shit and litter all over in his clothes. One of the parents shoulda put two and two together at some point. You just can't miss it. When I used to change my roommate's cat box, you could smell the litter on my hands, clothes, everywhere.
To be fair - it really wasn't the cats fault. An immunocompromised child should not be playing in cat litter. A status post renal transplant patient who complains of hematuria should be brought to the hospital immediately. None of it was the cat. I'd argue it was kind of the mom, but she was making judgment calls based on limited knowledge (the testimony of a toddler is not always accurate, and likely she didn't know about toxoplasma). It's really just an unfortunate set of circumstances.
@@fevre_dream8542 yeah but immunocompromised or not, you should not be letting your kid play in cat litter lmao, and especially she saw him playing in it often & didnt worry about it. it's straight up negligence

Playing devils advocate a bit, but I don't think it was willful neglect.
As soon as you said the sentence "He was found playing in the cat box" I immediately knew what it was. Pregnant woman and the immunosuppressed should not be changing cat boxes, let alone playing in them. The mother was irresponsible for not watching the kid well enough and teaching him litter boxes are not to be played in, and also for not taking him to the doctor at the first sign of his headaches, he is an organ transplant recipient, every little symptom should be investigated, especially if it becomes everyday.
AmaneeChaan and peeing pure blood sounds like the mums an idiot and the kidneys don't grow on trees she should have been so much more careful and clean, she got the cat after when his immune system was lowered, I still can't get over the fact he was allowed to play in the litter tray
Kawaii Universe He explains in the video. Cat feces is known to carry a parasite called toxoplasma gondii. In normal healthy humans the parasite is latent, and initially only causes mild illness, but in the immunosuppressed or in individuals with an immature immune system it can have very dangerous side effects, this kid got encephalitis from it.
Hiten Ghavda And she booked an appointment, but she decided to a little bit too late, she waited until his headaches got severe, she should’ve done it when they were just beginning.

The main thing is that the cat is ok. No harm must come to this feline. If needed, the child can be placed in a no-kill shelter but the cat must have a stable life. The litter box can be relocated and the kid is taught to stay away from it. If he does not learn then clearly, he must go. Cats are always first and human Offspring a very distant 5th, at best.

I thought the mother wasn’t aware of it. The kid just said his toilet was red, that’s kind of hard to figure out what he means. Kids say a lot of weird things.
Well she also let him play in the cats litter box soooooo
I hope the cat wasn’t abandoned. I do hope it was given to a more attentive family though.
Unfortunately, the cat probably passed away since this. I've had 2 cats with toxoplasmosis. We had the worst veterinarian in the world at the time our first cat got it. He threw up blood which is what made us take him immediately. He eventually went blind and lost almost all his weight. Our vet didn't tell us his medication had to be ongoing and we didn't know. He passed away.
Our second cat who got toxoplasmosis we went to a strictly cat vet. Highly recommend if you have a cat you take them to an all cat vet. Anyway, he was on medication for 2 years, had monthly blood drawn and had to be tested monthly for a full year afterwards to make sure he didn't have it reoccurring. He's a happy, healthy boy now - found all alone at my dad's factory job and he was scraggly and itty bitty. But he's so healthy and beautiful and the most costly cat we have had!! But it was so worth it!!
I wish the kid was given to a more attentive family lol

To be fair - it really wasn't the cats fault. An immunocompromised child should not be playing in cat litter. A status post renal transplant patient who complains of hematuria should be brought to the hospital immediately.
None of it was the cat. I'd argue it was kind of the mom, but she was making judgment calls based on limited knowledge (the testimony of a toddler is not always accurate, and likely she didn't know about toxoplasma). It's really just an unfortunate set of circumstances.
It wasn't, it was the mom's for not putting a stop to it...the cat just existed...
