As a druid, I'm not sure he posted this one but this is honestly the best macro ever imagined. #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover,help,dead][help,dead]Rebirth;[spec:4,@mouseover,help,nodead]Nature's Cure;[@mouseover,help,nodead]Remove Corruption;[@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm]Soothe;[spec:4]Nature's Cure;Remove Corruption - It'll Brez if they're dead, it'll dispel them if they're friendly and it'll soothe them if they're hostile. Also works with other specs that just have remove curse.
good video man. didn't know about /cqs one. I'm 100% going to include that in some macros now. spell queue used to drive me crazy on my Frost Mage during Heroism/Bloodlust because my spell queue setting was perfect for normal gameplay but not during that one specific window and this is literally a perfect solution.
#showtooltip /cast [harm, exists, form:2] Swipe; [harm, exists, form:1] Swipe;Entangling Roots I use this type of macro for my form abilities. Changes on target swap, so if you have a friendly targeted you can cast heals etc even though you are in form. You can use your main keybinds for catweaving/boomboxing without screwing over your heal binds this way. Works well for mouseover too. Great to have maul, rake, swiftmend and mouseover swiftmend on the same button. Saves a lot of keybinds on any class, but especially druid. Hope this helps someone
The @cursor macros are really important for dps. Example fire mage currently. During your burst window you don't want to waste time tapping meteor, aiming and clicking again as the faster you do it, the more pyroblasts you can get in during combustion window.
I made a macro for my warrior Freightrain so that when I Charge while out of combat it silent /rolls 100 and if I get 100 I emote /train. That's my most important one.
Here are some great macros that helped me over the years. I use Scroll up on the mouse for setting up a focus, Ctrl+Scroll up for Deleting Focus and scrolling down for this long macro: /cleartarget [target=target, dead] /clearfocus [target=focus, dead] /target focus /cleartarget [target=focus, noexists] /targetlasttarget /focus target /targetlasttarget First it checks if the target is dead, if yes, delete the target Then it checks if the focus is dead, if yes, delete the focus Then focus the current target then if the target and the focus are the same, clear the target if you dont have a focus, put the target into focus then target the last target What this basically does is, when scrolling down you can go back and forth between a target and focus. when scrolling up you can set a new focus. When targets die, they will automatically be deleted :D For Pet classes - use these: /petfollow /petpassive /petmoveto /script PetDismiss() Marcos for pressing buttons: /stopcasting /click ExtraActionButton1 /cast Garrison Ability /cast Combat Ally Check and Change Lag Tolerance (!) /dump GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow") = to check /console SpellQueueWindow 60 = to put the Tolerance to a certain amount of ms, in this example 60 Activate Maximum camera settings (even further away than max. ingame settings) /console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6
Macroing off-GCD spells with GCD-affected ones is also very useful under certain circumstances. For example, if you're running the Spirit Shell build for Disc Priest, I'd advice you to macro Spirit Shell with Mindbender since you're gonna want to use them at the same time anyway and they share a CD. You can cast both with a press of one button just like that: #showtooltip /cast Spirit Shell /cast Mindbender Also useful with trinkets.
You can also use help harm macros to cast a heal on target if friendly, or cast it on target of target if not. Same with damaging abilities as a healer. This means you can always pump damage or healing without needing to swap targets between tank and enemys
Familiar with most of these tips but I was today days into /played when I learned that /m opens up the macro interface and I do not have to bring it up via the game menu all the time.
Hey Growl, You can actually simplify your basic macros a little bit. Your Flash of Light one for instance you can replace the "; Flash of Light" by just adding an additional set of [] which will remain empty after the first set. It would look like this: /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead] [] Flash of Light This will work identically to your setup. Hope this is useful to you
I'm not planning on looking like a noob when I have /say in a macro, it's very common with healers on their ress ability. A signature line when ressurecting someone is nice :D I personally like the light jab or taunt at someone. But I often see people with "it's not your time yet. Rise, hero!" and such.
@threedoubleyou dotcom A good example and a bad example of macros with /say, yes :) Macros with short cooldowns that you use a lot can be very annoying.
The /say can be useful specifically in pug settings. I have ones for certain mob control things such as my sigil of silence on DH and my spell reflect on warrior so people know to hold kicks or cc
Instead of having the semicolon and then stating the ability again, you can just put an empty set of square brackets AFTER the ones containing the mouseover declaration.
Druids have a ton of keybinds even without macros. Can you make a video going over your keybinds/keyboard map? Moving my directional keys to "ESF" revolutionized my play and was the best tip I ever received. I'd love to know how you arrange your binds.
I love the idea of moving the directional keys to "ESF"! I have small hands and run out of keys I can hit comfortably very quickly. Thank you for the tip!.
targettarget macros are nice for beacon of light, lifebloom, earth shield etc, if u have the boss targeted, to refresh it on the active tank without having to move mouse to frame and do mouseover, or target
#showtooltip Bear Form /cast [nostance:1] Bear Form /cast [mod:ctrl,stance:1,@mouseover,exists][mod:ctrl,stance:1] Wild Charge Create a macro for each form and replace the relevant numbers/spells. You get instance wild charge in any form you want.
I use mouseover macros for everything. Especially dotting up a crowd. Lately, I've been using it for my main spells (Wrath and Starfire and such) while doing dailies for quick enemy switches. Cast and then select vs select and then cast. I wish I had been doing this all along. It's so much more efficient.
Would like to share something I use here. It’s called ImpliedTarget and makes any actionbar (default all) mouseover. You can personally select target priorities. You’ll find it if you google it and you’ll need to download and install it yourself. I’ve found it very useful even on non-healers. It’s nice to be able to mouseover-interrupt or CC without switching from your main target sometimes. Generally you can find a good mouseover use case for every spell, so why do make mouseover an option for literally everything without the need for macro’s?
I am your big fan, I watch every new video you post online, my resto druid now 2100 rating now all because I learned a lot from your video. I always do pug though so if I have a stable team I bet I can go higher on rating. Will you do more video on each dungeon on shadowland? Thanks
Thanks friend! I will definitely do videos on the shadowlands dungeons, I'm waiting a bit closer to release since many things are changing though I want to make sure the dungeon videos will be useful for a long time.
Subbing to your channel now. This is absolutely amazing as well as many of your recent videos. I only sub to a few channels so this is a big deal. Love your videos!
Instead of writing /use [@mouseover,nodead,help] Flash of light; Flash of light you can just write /use [@mouseover,nodead,help] [] Flash of light for the same effect.
@cursor has made life so much easier! Like hunter @cursor traps and flare or warrior @cursor venthyr teleport or leap. Best ever. I hate clicking then aiming! That few seconds could mean life or death!
Bartender has mouse over in their options. I used to use mouseover for all my spells until I dug deeper into bartender and saw they have the option built right in.
I only have 1 macro on one character that has speech bubble. My Warlock's Soulwell also says "grab a healthstone" because sometimes people don't notice it.
This is the one aspect of the game where I can definitely improve on. I just can't get myself to set up an alt, let alone set up the ring uis, macros, ui, etc.
The Macro I love the most as a healer is Harm/Noharm. Since my hands are farely small my reach isn't the best. I anchor my left hand via middlefinger on W or S and my right hand is almost entirely dedicated to mouse movement. This way I can comfortably hit 23 keybinds. beeing able to bind 2 spells on one keybind saves me about 8 KEybinds. I wan't ALL the control so I don't use mouseover at all. My global "chore" is basically, after i decide my action. Either [Klick] or [Tab] > hotkey > move mouse just a little out of the grid to readjust the camera with simultaniously tabbing the target... rincse, repeat. Mouseover doesn't fit at all in my style.
Don't use spaces between conditions. For the first Macro shown for holy paladins it could be just like this: "/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][]Flash of Light". Theres also no need to do "; Flash of Light" again.
Hey growl, Really awesome explanation on macros! Got a question, what is the addons for your cursor to see the cast bar ring? Really like to have that :) Goodluck ingame!

Hey Growl! About the mouseover macros is there a way to make it work ONLY inside the party/raid frame but not in the actual figures of the players? For example I am playing protection paladin with Hand of the Protector talent (yes, I know many will say I should take Final stand talent instead) and I am trying to offheal as much as possible when the situation allows me. But if I target the player I want to heal then sometimes in big packs I can't target again the one I have targeted. If I use a mouseover sometimes happens that instead of healing myself I heal someone else just because my cursor is hovering on the character of a party member roaming around. I have tried to use the target last target option in the game but very often I press the button more than once and then it get messy. So I was hoping if there is a way to distinguish the mouse over when the cursor is within the party/raid frame and when it's outside.
Hey growl, i am new to wow and want to make a macro for example for penance. that when i mouseover a party member it casts penance on them, but when i dont mouseover them it will still dmg my current target. is that possible ? hope you know what i mean ;)
Anyone know how to get Clique Macros to work with druid shape shifting? If button 1 is rejuv on my caster bar and I go bear but my bear form cast bar 1 is mangle, i hit 1 and it still casts rejuv, not mangle.
Im healing since TBC, and i never understand why would want to use mouseover, im already clicked on my new target when the GCD finished... need to plan ahead and i dont want to sacrifice the manual feeling for 0.001 sec efficiency. Im always think tanking is responsibility, healing is work and dps is fun, and without clicking or target keybind i would feel like a bot.
lmao at anyone thinking u need an addon to heal in wow. i use blizzard raid frames an everythingg is bound. also my group. being a 1. something sec global isnt that big of a deal. ive tried healbot voodoo all of them. an im back to the basic cause it just made the game more clustered with garbage u dont need. im like why scroll all the way across the screen to your wow raid frames to click on something. put frames on right side at least
Not really relevant to the scope of the video. But this macro allows you to check your Great Vault without physically being there in Oribos: /run LoadAddOn("Blizzard_WeeklyRewards"); WeeklyRewardsFrame:Show()
Just macro interrupts, stuns, soothe to a mouse over also... so u are able to hit any mob and not just focused target. Mousing over their name plate works also I also mouse over almost all dps abilities too, very useful for any class that multi targets
I seriously just learned about em earlier this week while playing my Druid I’m not sure how I managed to do it without this long on my main priest heals
I'm surprised people still put #showtooltip in their macros. It hasn't been necessary for at least 8 years (I made all my macros in MoP and it wasn't necessary then).
i feel the macro system is outdated and Blizzard should rework it. have never played any other mmo so i dont have anything to compair with but there's alot of improvements and changes i could think of

Best Druid macro:

/cast [@cursor] Efflorescence
/yell Stand in the green circle or die... you were warned
That's actually quite impressive
lol, i'm gonna copy that one ^^
I like a similar voiceline for my DH Darkness

Yes.
We are
#showtooltip

How did you go about doing this. Very curious
Here are some great macros that helped me over the years.
I use Scroll up on the mouse for setting up a focus, Ctrl+Scroll up for Deleting Focus and scrolling down for this long macro:
/cleartarget [target=target, dead]
/clearfocus [target=focus, dead]
/target focus
/cleartarget [target=focus, noexists]
/targetlasttarget
/focus target
/targetlasttarget
First it checks if the target is dead, if yes, delete the target
Then it checks if the focus is dead, if yes, delete the focus
Then focus the current target
then if the target and the focus are the same, clear the target
if you dont have a focus, put the target into focus
then target the last target
What this basically does is, when scrolling down you can go back and forth between a target and focus. when scrolling up you can set a new focus.
When targets die, they will automatically be deleted :D
For Pet classes - use these:
/petfollow
/petpassive
/petmoveto
/script PetDismiss()
Marcos for pressing buttons:
/stopcasting
/click ExtraActionButton1
/cast Garrison Ability
/cast Combat Ally
Check and Change Lag Tolerance (!)
/dump GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow") = to check
/console SpellQueueWindow 60 = to put the Tolerance to a certain amount of ms, in this example 60
Activate Maximum camera settings (even further away than max. ingame settings)
/console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6
Macroing off-GCD spells with GCD-affected ones is also very useful under certain circumstances. For example, if you're running the Spirit Shell build for Disc Priest, I'd advice you to macro Spirit Shell with Mindbender since you're gonna want to use them at the same time anyway and they share a CD. Yes Please!
Great idea for Shadowlands!

Wait, Cancel Spell Queue sounds so necessary. That's crazy. Thanks for the video
Hey Growl,

It would look like this: /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead] [] Flash of Light
This will work identically to your setup.
Hope this is useful to you
Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to write. Also instead of [target=focus] it is possible (and shorter) to write [@focus].
Yeah this is a better way for sure

assist is more common in rbg's but definitely useful for M+ healing as well.
/cancelaura can be quite useful too, if you wanna remove a buff because of the downsides, like IB for mages, Aspect of the Turtle for hunters, etc
targettarget macros are nice for beacon of light, lifebloom, earth shield etc, if u have the boss targeted, to refresh it on the active tank without having to move mouse to frame and do mouseover, or target
Thanks for making this video , I finally understand how to make them.
I just asked for this video a few days ago in stream +1
Excellent video, I learned several new tricks. Thank you!
Found this very helpful!!! Sweet and short also!
So helpful, Growl thx 👍 keep up the good work.....

I guess I found it myself; it´s NQ GCD Mouse Circle in the WA list. Have to try out.
When I heal, I use a healbot addon instead of doing mouse over macros.

Hey Growl!
About the mouseover macros is there a way to make it work ONLY inside the party/raid frame but not in the actual figures of the players? he posted a pastebin and shows them on the screen, he explained it very well so not sure what sort of elementary teaching he needs to present for you
I know how to set up a macro. I've been writing macros since the beginning. I don't need a druid to teach me to use mouseover macros.
So why you watching the video?
Would you prefer a mage?
Wow I guess u are 7k rio and 12/12 then; get outta here you sperg
