Own 2 EP9s, both are SBRd and suppressed. Personally, I can't say enough good about them. I own other 9mm PCCs, which are easily 3-4 times more expensive and guess what gets shot all the time, yep the Extars. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the .45 and do the same to it, they just make sense. I've fired CMMGs version and I wouldn't spend the extra $$$ for it, not necessary. Firearms that you make memories with are the most cherished, not the most expensive one's.
Do you think I’d be better off buying a PSA Dagger with a Glock carbine conversion kit, or getting an Extar for home defense? (The setup I’m looking at for both equals out to about the same cost.)
@@Sanguivore Me, I would get the Extar. I'm not a fan for conversion. I've transferred a few Dagger pistols, not a real fan of them either, so a double negative. If you like .45 get the Extar in .45 ACP. If you want more juice, get a PSA AR "pistol" in .300 BLK, so you can shoot super and subsonics. 220 GR subs, equal around a .45 ACP cartridge, while the super sonics are slightly less than a 7.62x39 or .30-30 winchester. However, a standard Extar EP9, is just fine, 9mm ammo is less expensive and an Extar flexs well beyond its price point. I literally have two Q guns (Sugar Weasel and Honey Badger, sitting here, they are great, super cool .300 BLK, but the Extar is the gun you would take on an adventure into the woods since its NOT stupid expensive, so you will make more memories (fun times) with such a firearm. Plus 9mm Glock mags (are cheap) and 9mm ammo is everywhere to be purchased. Save up and get a suppressor for it and you will be really having a good time.
@@Gunoke-fd6bc That is a very, very great rundown. Thank you so much, my friend! @@Sanguivore For budget and bang for your buck, I would go with a YHM R45. I unfortunately, didn't get to try one at Suppressed Fest as YHM, didn't put one out. Yes, I do own a R9 and have sold at least 3 to others I know very well. I own at least 3 brands of .45 ACP suppressors and 5 total .45 cans and shot more than a few offerings. Now, if you told me you want to use it on a pistol as well then I would suggest a Rugged Obsidian, more $$$. But the R45, will do a fine job on a EP45 and save you some $$$ at the same time. I run a little Witt Machine 9mm can on my EP9, not stellar, but it sure looks good and it does pull some dbs off the bang bang. I don't recommend the Witt Machine .45 can on the EP45, not enough volume for the bark of .45 ACP cartridge.
Same guy ( storm lake bobcat)who commented about mocking the extra brand on your ep9 video. 1 person but 2 new subs. And absolutely appreciate the what's for dinner challenge. 🇺🇸🦅🗽
The EP-45 ships with an easily removable buffer tube end cap (I'm surprised it didn't fall off in this video) and foam cover. The bare buffer tube underneath is a "standard" pistol buffer that the original style (Sig) SB Tactical braces will slide on with a very secure friction fit. The attachment of the buffer tube to the EP-45 is not an AR style thread and castle nut so most "adjustable" braces may not work. Extar does have a carbine style buffer tube available.
I have the XD and Xds as well....carried them for years. Just recently picked up a Glock 21 and I love it too. I might have to pick up the Extar as it can share mags with the Glock.
Use it as a cheek pistol to get around not having a brace. Also, Lucky Gunner ran a test on different kinds of pistol rounds at 100 yards, and Federal HST 230 grain still opened up just fine in gel at 100 yards in ballistics gel through denim. Also, it surprisingly only lost I think 8% of it's total velocity, whereas 357 SIG lost like 20%. 45 ACP was actually hitting harder than 357 SIG at 100 yards.
Again - a systematic and comprehensive treatment of the weapon. Nice job, very informative. They now come with both fixed and adjustable braces, which really kicks them up a notch in utility. I was surprised at the velocity of the Liberty Civil Defense 78 grain - 2074 fps/704 ft-lbf; pretty impressive combo. Off to the gunshop!
9:40 - When evaluating different ammo, it'd probably be a good idea to use the same standard Glock mag for each different ammo type so we're not wondering if the failure to feed was the result of the ammo or the change to the after market mag.
Ha! That box of Blazer brought back some memories! I'd go through 200 rounds easily back then. Good times. Some impressive numbers coming out of that barrel too.
