      that's why I'm going MacBook from now on. I got the Hp omen last year, 2.4k laptop. Fuck the battery life on this thing. My trackpad stopped working and they replaced it for a shitty one. I got burned by windows too much now to consider using this crap again.

      Don't do it. I had one as my first gaming laptop and it wasn't worth it whatsoever. There are way better laptops for way lower prices -- ASUS, Clevo, MSI, even Razer.

    For 1200 USD this is undeniably the best laptop you could possibly get at that price point. Alienware absolutely outdid themselves with this machine, bravo to them. In fact, all the new Alienware laptops with 10-series GPU's are very impressive.

      Dan Cho except at that price, you only get an i5. to get an i7, it is going to cost you more than the 15 inch with an i7 (due to the 15 base having HDD and 8GB RAM vs SSD and 16GB RAM in the 13)

      @danieldougan269 5 лет назад

      I own this laptop with the Core i7-7700HQ, and it fell about 3 feet onto carpet, and I ended up with a small scratch on the trackpad and another on the edge of the chassis. Not a showstopper but annoying...especially the scratch on the trackpad because I'm always running my finger over it. Maybe it's because the laptop was open when it fell. I'm wondering how complicated it would be to replace those parts.

    Dave you should of been clear that for 1200 you only get a i5 and 8 gig of memory with 1366x768 screen. Reading the comments, I can tell that people think all the specs you mentioned at the end of the video cost 1200 which is not true. For those specs, it cost over 2 Grand.

      @@Nahmannahman420 of they had a new model that matched the size, aesthetic & thermal reliance as the 13R3 then I’d buy into Dell again
      Ya having to utilize the Dell website to install hard drives & troubleshoot em can be kinda cumbersome however I’ve found a few ways to beat the system
      I just keep downloaded drives & driver update software in a separate specific folder I can locate easy & it’s kinda pricy for the annual subscription but the IOBit Driver Booster software can more often then not pick out the software files in question that need installation or updating
      I only used the support assist once when I first got the consul & haven’t had to use it since
      At times I do have to instal or update a drive manually due to Driver Booster not detecting the file in question thou it’s been super easy cuz for the most part I never have to search Dell Web for the download package because I’ve all the files saved in one folder & it’s just a matter of running the download & instal file software in said folder
      Honestly I don’t understand what almost everyone was complaining about when it comes to Dell until my mouse software did fail to install correctly one time just recently & it took me a week to trouble shoot it through the Dell website & I was like oh ya, this is what everyone hated about it😂

    • @Lapis_Pylosiphorum
      @Lapis_Pylosiphorum Год назад

      Also hashtag not sponsored but the IObit Advance System care is super worth it as well in my opinion only because it gives the auto Ram cleaner on the full version & because I’ve upgraded mine to 32Gb Ram almost immediately it’s never failed to render anything & hardly slows down even when running multiple things
      Tried to come off it one time for a month & my God not only seeing my Ram up 80% to max just running minecraft is killing me but the rendering time/distance & having to constantly manually click the ram cleaner regardless of which software I used for it was insult to injury
      & so far Advance system care is the best auto Ram cleaner I could find, if anyone knows of a free one please at me but until then if there’s any subscription service I’ve finally caved to it’s IObit
      Maybe not the Malware fighter cuz the free version is just slower & defrag only cuz it’s redundant on SSD but the ASC, DB, uninstaller & updates are worth the year sub if you know how to uses the programs
      I’m defiantly addicted to this software, wish there was a 5 year plan but I guess they gotta make money somehow cuz I wouldn’t wanna se em go outta business
      Wonder if the auto Ram will ever be apart of the free package but I highly doubt it cuz that’s the only reason me and so many other user buy the dam ting🤣

    I own this laptop (with the standard display, not OLED), and it's amazing. I'm sure it would be even better with OLED, but that's not a necessary upgrade.
    It truly is built like a tank. It's surprisingly heavy for a 13.3" laptop, but that just means it's well built. The keyboard is incredibly easy and comfortable to type on. The speakers are really amazing for a laptop too. You can fill a room with them, which is more than I can say for the vast majority of laptop speakers.
    The design is unorthodox, that's for sure. The fan sticks out about an inch behind the screen. The advantage of this is that you don't hear it as much when the fans turn on. I haven't really pushed this thing for gaming, but I do use it for video editing, and it handles DaVinci Resolve very well. I did have to add a 16 GB RAM stick (bringing the total to 24 GB) because Resolve is so RAM-intensive, but I'm glad this design allowed me to do that.
    The light-up touchpad is a nice little touch if a bit gimmicky. I do wish there were a 4K panel option, but that's because I'm more interested in content creation than gaming.
    Highly recommended!

      Portability
      TBH this is good for a laptop but doesn't compare to a desktop experience in gameplay. Imo the best option is to have a light laptop (for school and just functionality on the go) and an op desktop. Even if it has way better price to performance, it's out of the picture for me because it doesn't have what I need in a laptop.

Thanks to warranty everything was fixed but it's gonna end in november (i took 1 year only). If any of you buy an alienware be sure to take warranty fellas. Haven’t regretted it since, you truly know your tech and good quality where it lies, finally got it running on the graphics Amp with an RTX3080 & the computing is unstoppable
    I know there be tons of models that can put preform it easy but for one of the smallest gaming laptops truly the best thermals, you would think it would be prob to over heating a lot being so small & compact but especially with a fan stand pad attached to it no laptop can compare IMO
    & I didn’t even have a Tube account before I looked into this & got everything running 100% so I’m back to tell ya that you are most defiantly correct about one thing for sure, it really can handle the heat

    Hi Dave, had a question about the weight - you said its 2.6 KG but Dell's website and all other reviews say its closer to 2 KG. Can you verify? Other than that thanks for the review - great work being one of the first to have such a comprehensive overview of this laptop! :)

    Great Vid Dave!! I've been waiting for the release of this to see how it would fair in comparison to last years model 13,
    Unfortunately for me i caved in February this year and purchased the Skylake I5 model on sale@$899 from Dell and now
    I'm all tears!!! Price for performance for the new model is plenty adequate for even the base model, People can say what they want about Alienware but there is nothing but quality in the build of these units heat/ventilation distribution are top notch
    and make the those complaining about the weight re-analyze why there is heft in such a small package!!

    Just brought the 2017 version (with the 7700 i7 but the 1080 screen). Can't wait! One thing I have been thinking about is getting the external GPU adaptor and using my dekstops GTX1080 when at home. My desktop machine is running an old i5 2500K so by all accounts the 7700HQ should be running circles around it. If it does then one other thing I want to find is some form of multiple harddrive thunderbolt enclosure, that way I can rip out the SSD's in my desktop and have them sharing the games with the internal drive - that way I can have the internal for games I am playing at that moment and when I am away from work and the externals for when I am at home and want to play something else but don't want it on my machine. Still all hypothetical at the moment, after buying the laptop I don't have the money to buy anything else for a while LOL

    I picked up the 1050ti, i7 7700hq model for $1600 aud, bout $1200 usd i love this thing, the build quality is outstanding to any of the other laptops at that price, i dont mind the extra weight or thickness because it feels so solid and high quality, battery life is great while doing work at uni, highly recommended

    I honestly appreciate the more solid, strong design over something flimsy like a MacBook. The Alienware 13 for $2000 while expensive, honestly is worth it for me, as I need a strong, compact, powerful, yet portable laptop. I have seen sales on these with OLED and everything for 1700$ and that’s a better deal for anyone looking to pick one up
