1. Bribery and accommodation are effective tools.
2. Generosity is not appreciated, as more and more will be expected.
3. A weak leader will have a staff of flatterers and will thus miss opportunities of wisdom.
4. Leaving fortune to God makes one lazy and ultimately helpless.
5. Scholars are useless as advisers because they will reject simple truth in practical matters.
6. You must tell advisers that you can handle the truth, without reprise.
7. You must know that few will stand against the general opinion.
8. Deception should always be suspected and outward appearance is the easiest deception.
9. Wisdom is in being able to choose the lesser evil.
