My mom bought a corvette from "Carvanna". It arrived looking rode hard and put up wet. I steamed the windows during a detailing and noticed a impound lot "SC" for "Stolen Car" that had been penciled on the driver side glass at some point in time. Wow..
Brought my Camry into a Toyota dealer to diagnose the front end shaking. Inner tie rods 1,800.00, I laughed and replaced them myself for 80.00 and it wasn't the problem. was CV joints also done myself. This was also after the previous owner was told he needed a new engine when towed in for a dead battery. Two different Toyota dealers. it's sickening, they figure you'll trade it in rather than fix it.
I remember and I was only like 14 and my mom would send me with a note and money to the gas station to buy her a pack of cigarettes needless to say my younger sister was good at forging my mom's signature so we got away with a lot of s*** growing up on the south side of Chicago
I used Shell gas from the time I went off to college and Dad gave me a Shell credit card to use. Recently I got an update from Shell, CC interest rate was going to 36%. Cut card up and after almost 50 years no Shell CC......Greed.....
I had a similar experience but with my late beagle bandit. I noticed that he was bleeding and rushed him to a pet hospital in NYC where I live. They quoted me $2,200 to keep him overnight for observation no treatment or anything. Unfortunately I decided to put him to sleep. I had taken him prior to that to his regular vet. I had noticed that he was unevenly fat near the back and when I mentioned that to my vet she said he is only fat. I had to rush him to the hospital that same day where unfortunately I had to make the choice to euthanize him. I was so distraught and pissed . I know it’s not a vehicle related story but shows that you can be ripped off in any industry. Love your channel Scotty.
Vets are like stealerships. Everybody wants to charge ridiculous rates, but if they want to buy something at a yard sale, they will try to haggle with you over something you are almost giving away!!!!
Honda wanted to charge me $127 for two (2) wiper blades for my vehicle that needed to be replaced. I laughed and bought the wiper blades myself for less than $20 and installed it. These dealers are literally “stealers”….
You don't even need the whole 'blade'. When I was growing up, we called what are now known as refills the blades. Hard to find refills anymore, they want to make profit on the blade frame every time the rubber rots.
That is because you are a man. If you are like my wife, a woman, you will gladly pay that because you are led to believe that dealer is quality workmanship and changinģ wipers require technical expertise.
@@debluetailflyi recall in the 2010s, most toyota dealerships sold refills you cut to size and then install in each wiper. But honestly, nowadays its way cheaper to get new wipers specially from costco.
Many decades ago the window on my Mazda 929 wouldn't open or close. I took it to the stealership. They said the motor was "shot" and had to be replaced. I could hear the motor revving so I knew it wasn't "shot". I asked, "Are you sure?" The stealership rep said, "Absolutely! The guy who checked it does this particular work day in and day out, for many years". I was just a young girl and didn't know any better, but I said I will go for a second opinion. They charged me $35.00 for that misdiagnosis. I went to a windshield/car window repair shop. I pulled into their drive way and a friendly Mexican man asked, "What can I help you with?" I explained my plight to him. He smacked that glass window and told me to try and see if it worked. It worked! He said, "The glass was just out of the track". I knew it wasn't the motor yet I didn't know what it could be. I asked him how much I owed him, and he said, "Oh, nothing". I thanked him profusely. I was holding back tears, remembering my late father. He reminded me of my father who was honest, hardworking, never took advantage of anyone, but helped everyone. I went back to the stealership and got my $35.00 back. I reported them to the government's consumer watch dog because when I was at the stealership, I saw all those senior citizens waiting for service and wondered how they were going to be victimized. I actually received a call from the consumer watch dog thanking me for reporting the incident. The lady I spoke with told me the stealership claimed, "It was a rookie we just hired who worked on her car". I break into a cold sweat every time I need to take in my car for repairs.
My son just retired from being a md. I always told him to be honest and just never do anything dishonest to a customer. He said he is a mechanical dr, hence the md.
I am an automotive instructor at a college and I talk with my students about the reputation of the industry and how it did not get the way it is by accident. Lots of unqualified techs giving estimates and diagnosing things they have zero training on. Lots of dishonest and unethical behavior in a lot of these places.

And now days there are more and more "repairs" that have to be done at a dealer. Because of the complexity and specialized equipment needed. That is scary. Makes me think of the time I went to a dealer to get an oil change because I would get coupons from them to get it done for a really good price. The service tech said I should get a fluid change in my transmission at this mileage point on my car. I said that might be the case if I had an automatic trans, but I have a manual. He said no you have an auto, I said no I don't, and he was kind of insistent that I had an auto. I said, I bought the car brand new and have been driving it just about every day for the last 10 years. I think I know what kind of transmission it has. He just kind of walked away and I think he went and looked at the car and then avoided me for the rest of the time.
Scotty I've been asking that question for years. Why not methanol? It burns 100% only trace amounts of carbon. If fact it is a 100% evaporated material such as acetone. Ethanol history be fermented and in the process contains sugars which when burned leave a ton of carbon.
I live in Oregon where, until recently, pump your own was illegal and still hasn't caught on. The station I most often patronize actually cleans my windshield.
Scotty, fun fact. A Boeing 777 on a long haul flight can have up to ~48,000 gallons of fuel on board. And those planes never stop, almost always in the air. My gas station story, in WV at a gas station off I-64. the hose exploded open and showered me with fuel. The ladies inside quickly took me to the back where they had a shower and eye wash. They filled out an incident report. The next day their insurance company called me and sent me a nice check. They also sent me to a doctor and optometrist of my choice since I was a pilot.Despite the hose being rotted out and showering me with gas, I was happy with the outcome.

Hey, I got a b*tch. At the Maverick gas stations in Cheyenne and northern Colorado, when I start pumping the gas, a loud, obnoxious video begins playing on the gas pump screen. I enjoy the Maverick stations in general, but now I seek other places.
Methanol works well, but you need to double the size of the fuel tank, plus all fuel system components need to be made of something that won't corrode.
OMG for an estimate??!!! Honda should be looking at this dealership! Proble. Here in the US, there are no regulations that are being imposed on crooked dealerships.
Fisher is already bankrupt, Lucid and Rivian is catering to the wealthy, so they can’t sell too many cars (but I did see quite a few Rivians in Colorado on a trip recently)- you can only get so far selling exclusively to the wealthy and with an electric car no less.
Fisker is Bankrupt in Norway, thought they was gone all over. You could buy the Ocean model cheap for some months. Not easy now since the insurance companies will not accept them. Bad for the guys who have bought them since software and firmware is obsolete.
Scotty, the problem with the maintenance at these convenience store gas stations is one of the Government's making. They have hiked the minimum wage up so high, they can't afford to pay someone to slowly go around and fill the towel holders and put water in the reservoirs.
My neighbor has two horses that cost her around $8k a year to own...boarding, feed, vets, farrier, and various show and activity fees. She should've bought a Celica instead. 😂
When all my trucks quit or had something wrong with them we have used our Thoroughbreds for picking up parts to have the old trucks operating again. The real live horses always start! Fuel is cheap & available almost everywhere , even in many cities.Have the right pairs & you can have a new model every year. If were all forced to go all electric we will be going back to real live horse power!
I don’t know if the dealership on the mechanical side uses an estimating program but on the collision repair side I can tell you that the software for estimating damages runs anywhere from $5 to $10,000 a year. Sometimes it can take many hours to write up an accurate damage, appraisal or estimate . Insurance appraisers get paid for writing estimates . But usually the estimate turns out to be free if the customer decides to have that shop do the repairs
The reason they don't give receipts at the pump is that they want you to go inside to purchase something. Many Sierra Gas stations have been purchased by East Indian people and they don't do maintenance on any of their stations. Many pumps don't work, credit card readers don't work, the screens are so bad you can't read them, and they won't give you a receipt.
Here in NSW Australia we have a system Service NSW you can check a vehicle,a licence when buying a vehicle, I just bought a vehicle checked it out before I even went to look at the vehicle.
My dad leased a five bay texaco gas station. He was a mechanic comparable to you Scotty. I pumped gas (35cent gal) I always cleaned windows and offered to check engine oil and tires, always!!!
They never recycled batteries, only the metal casings and the cells with 80% or more life left get repurposed. The rest of it gets trashed and always has been. If we switched to salt battery tech this would be different, but engineers are still developing them for commercial use.
If a legitimate car dealer sold you a stolen car then you need to contact an attorney and 1 get the payments stopped immediately. Why should you have to pay money for something that’s not yours nor ever was. Then you sue Carvana for failure to do their job. You sue for the price you paid for the vehicle plus whatever the same vehicle cost when new. Remember you want enough to buy a new version of the same vehicle and your lawyer will take 60 percent of whatever you get so sue for a big number
I've been all over Pennsylvania, and once you get closer to Philadelphia, it's the same thing. No windshield washer fluid hardly ever in with the squeegee.
When the gas pump doesn't give me my receipt, I take a picture of the price and amount of gallons on the screen. Later I write it down and figure up my MPG. Go inside...no thanks, lol.
Yes, hydrogen is expensive, difficult to store, it needs extra care to transfer to vehicles for fuel, BUT it burns clean, virtually no emissions except maybe a little water vapor.
Honda ain't what it used to be and neither is Toyota in my opinion. Keeping my 12' Altima which has been bulletproof in it's 13th year on the road until it dies. By the way the original CVT transmission has also been bulletproof. Probably because of the way I drive it and take care of it.
Scotty, you need to check.the VIN for new cars too. I purchased a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and 6 weeks later, my Wife looked out her office windows and saw a State Trooper behind our new Jeep. The dealership did an inventory check and could find one and reported it stolen. Even though the had one they had shown as sold. Bottom line, they tried to get us to return it, but we'd already put too many miles on it to sell new. They used lojack to find it.
Hey yall, I figured I’d put this question here being a car channel. I recently picked up a 2001 ford f150 with the 4.6L v8 and manual transmission. Sounds great, but it’s not the happiest when it comes to shifting. To get into 1st or reverse it’ll feel like it doesn’t want to go or even grind if I don’t put the shifter to 3rd or 4th beforehand. Also, when going up through the gears, I’ll have to keep some pressure on the shifter for a few seconds before it falls into place. I’m thinking it may just need the transmission fluid changed out but I’m not sure. Engine has about 347000 miles on it
I installed a flex fuel kit in my 02 Mustang GT and ran E85. It's cleaner burning but the gas mileage sucks. I don't believe in man made climate change but I did this because I was planning on putting a supercharger on the car.
I had a repair done on my engine the mechanic said i needed an oil pan gasket the same shop had replace a part to do with my steering i asked the shop manager if i could see the undercarriage of my front wheel drive car this mechanic said it didn't look like it needed one 😮
Several years ago. The Honda dealership in Fresno, California. Got into trouble for using filtered refurbished oil. In oil changes, the they advertised has using new oil.
Went to Toyota dealer the other day. Had an exhaust leak. They wanted $75 just to look at it. I knew where the leak was. So, I got out of there quick. Took it to a local garage where they fixed the leak for $75. Thats the way it is today. Dealers are just ripping people off. Period!!
I have a feeling a lot of these gas stations have a problem with folks stealing. They probably skip the extras like squeegee, windshield fluid and paper towels.
Yes I had a mechanic someplace tell me that the diagnostic scan to see what's wrong with the vehicle will be $120.00 on top of whatever was wrong to fix it
I think it’s obvious that the Honda dealer didn’t want to do the work or do the job. Also some mechanics really get ripped and pissed because I’ll go ahead and do an honest estimate using their time energy and labor just to have a person say no I don’t want the work done and then they go find somebody that will do the work cheaper maybe even themselves. Now that they have the diagnosis.
Dang, that is a lot of fuel!! One problem at gas stations might be people making off with the paper towels and the squeegees so the manager just gives up. I dunno, it happens at CVS anyway LOL
Before I knew anything about cars I plugged in a towing module and 5 pin trailer connector to the back of my mothers Nissan and it didn't work. Took it to a dealership and they charged $120 just to put the freaking fuse in.

The estimate thing is interesting because in the U.S. There are laws requiring a estimate to be upfront before any work be done, Its literally part of consumer law, The only way around it is if you sign a contract saying they will do x yz for x$. Other than they are legally required to tell you about how much it would cost to fix it, then there is a grace within that amount of which if it exceeds past that, they are comiting a crime.
That story about Honda wipers. I bought two recently for my daughter. Just bought the rubber inserts. Cost about $25 for both. You dont need the who arm on a Honda or a Toyota. Check it out!!😂
I have a 2018 Ford Eco sport. Hell they charge to just try a see what’s wrong with your car also a that’s not fixing it. Hondas not the only one to charge for estimates!
As I stated before, why on Earth would the German's think this is a good idea for ships? You get HALF the range! Gotta love the mythology that somehow changing your carbon-based fuel makes any different to the net CO2 output. Makes no difference on paper (this is physical chemistry 101 stuff).
Problem with methanol is that it is hydrophillic. Meaning it absorbs water from the atmosphere. Lots of water in the air when at sea... Also lower potential energy than diesel. Meaning you need more of it...
If a ship is using 80k gallons per day I'm sure h20 in the fuel wouldn't be a big problem. Now if you put it in your car and take a month to use it in humid conditions.... I fill up every 2-3 weeks so methanol powered car wouldn't be right for me. Back in 2007-2014 I drove 90 miles per day, I filled up every 4 shifts in my v6 tiburon and every 6 shifts in my vw tdi. Not enough time to worry about stale/watery gas
My windshield fluid stopped pumping liquid. I was bringing it in for some routine work and asked them about it. They said the tubing was bad and wanted $225 to replace it. Turns out there was a cut in the tubing. I cut out the bad section, got little bigger piece of tubing I had on hand, it was snug but I still taped the ends. Works fine, no cost to me, but I am suspect on how a line of windshield washer tubing had a cut in it. The cut spot was in an air gap between where it left the fender wall on the passenger side and went to the hood where the nozzles are. It didn't bend, twist or touch anything.
They leave the receipt roll empty so the customer has to enter the store. While waiting in line the manager hopes to cash in on the "impulsive buyers".
AAMCO garage did the same thing to me gave me the estimate and the diagnosis and said that if I decide that the work done that would be added or deducted from the total cost of the repair so it seems like a fair way to do business if
Oh Scotty...there's such a thing as 'business Accounting'...and has nothing to do with automobiles, either ICE or EV. Large 'profitable' companies buy 'distressed' companies, all the time, and then shutter the same recently purchased, distressed companies, and either sell the assets or 'crush them'....AND....this is main point...take this 'monetary business loss' and apply it against any 'gains' from the profitable company, thereby enjoying a huge TAX Break. It's all rather premeditated...and it's not a new concept.
Maybe the reason gas station don't care about squeegees is because they don't make anything on their gas. Yep oil companies are that greedy. Gas is a loss leader for station owners.
Several years ago there was a three wheel car called the Elio People put down payments for them and they were offered for$8k but they were never put in production. Parts would be Sold at Pep Boys. Are there any updates?
I've noticed that a lot of stations don't stock the window cleaning containers anymore. Years ago, they all did but now it's pretty much unheard of! I miss the days of quality!😕😕😕
Hi Scotty. I own a 2014 Buick Encore, 84,000 miles and I’ve been getting a check engine light. I was down in Alabama and bought gas at a Texaco and drove about 10 miles after fill up and the check engine light came on and the car seemed sluggish. I bought a PEA fuel system cleaner and after about 100 miles the light turned off. This has happened a couple of times since then and the fuel system cleaner seemed to work. I finally stopped at an Advance Auto store and checked the codes and the only code was a P0299 Engine Underboost DTC severity 2 of 3. Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?????

I had a similar experience but with my late beagle bandit. I noticed that he was bleeding and rushed him to a pet hospital in NYC where I live. They quoted me $2,200 to keep him overnight for observation no treatment or anything. Unfortunately I decided to put him to sleep. I had taken him prior to that to his regular vet. I had noticed that he was unevenly fat near the back and when I mentioned that to my vet she said he is only fat. I had to rush him to the hospital that same day where unfortunately I had to make the choice to euthanize him. I was so distraught and pissed . I know it’s not a vehicle related story but shows that you can be ripped off in any industry. Love your channel Scotty.
Vets are like stealerships. Everybody wants to charge ridiculous rates, but if they want to buy something at a yard sale, they will try to haggle with you over something you are almost giving away!!!!

Honda wanted to charge me $127 for two (2) wiper blades for my vehicle that needed to be replaced. I laughed and bought the wiper blades myself for less than $20 and installed it. These dealers are literally “stealers”….
You don't even need the whole 'blade'. When I was growing up, we called what are now known as refills the blades. Hard to find refills anymore, they want to make profit on the blade frame every time the rubber rots.

Many decades ago the window on my Mazda 929 wouldn't open or close. I took it to the stealership. They said the motor was "shot" and had to be replaced. I could hear the motor revving so I knew it wasn't "shot". I asked, "Are you sure?" The stealership rep said, "Absolutely! The guy who checked it does this particular work day in and day out, for many years". I was just a young girl and didn't know any better, but I said I will go for a second opinion. They charged me $35.00 for that misdiagnosis. I went to a windshield/car window repair shop. I pulled into their drive way and a friendly Mexican man asked, "What can I help you with?" I explained my plight to him. He smacked that glass window and told me to try and see if it worked. It worked! He said, "The glass was just out of the track". I knew it wasn't the motor yet I didn't know what it could be. I asked him how much I owed him, and he said, "Oh, nothing". I thanked him profusely. I was holding back tears, remembering my late father. He reminded me of my father who was honest, hardworking, never took advantage of anyone, but helped everyone. I went back to the stealership and got my $35.00 back. I reported them to the government's consumer watch dog because when I was at the stealership, I saw all those senior citizens waiting for service and wondered how they were going to be victimized. I actually received a call from the consumer watch dog thanking me for reporting the incident. The lady I spoke with told me the stealership claimed, "It was a rookie we just hired who worked on her car". I break into a cold sweat every time I need to take in my car for repairs.

I am an automotive instructor at a college and I talk with my students about the reputation of the industry and how it did not get the way it is by accident. Lots of unqualified techs giving estimates and diagnosing things they have zero training on. Lots of dishonest and unethical behavior in a lot of these places.

And now days there are more and more "repairs" that have to be done at a dealer. Because of the complexity and specialized equipment needed. That is scary.
Makes me think of the time I went to a dealer to get an oil change because I would get coupons from them to get it done for a really good price. The service tech said I should get a fluid change in my transmission at this mileage point on my car. I said that might be the case if I had an automatic trans, but I have a manual. He said no you have an auto, I said no I don't, and he was kind of insistent that I had an auto. I said, I bought the car brand new and have been driving it just about every day for the last 10 years. I think I know what kind of transmission it has. He just kind of walked away and I think he went and looked at the car and then avoided me for the rest of the time.
Scotty I've been asking that question for years. Why not methanol? It burns 100% only trace amounts of carbon. If fact it is a 100% evaporated material such as acetone. Ethanol history be fermented and in the process contains sugars which when burned leave a ton of carbon.
I live in Oregon where, until recently, pump your own was illegal and still hasn't caught on. The station I most often patronize actually cleans my windshield.

Scotty, fun fact. A Boeing 777 on a long haul flight can have up to ~48,000 gallons of fuel on board. And those planes never stop, almost always in the air. My gas station story, in WV at a gas station off I-64. the hose exploded open and showered me with fuel. The ladies inside quickly took me to the back where they had a shower and eye wash. They filled out an incident report. The next day their insurance company called me and sent me a nice check. They also sent me to a doctor and optometrist of my choice since I was a pilot.Despite the hose being rotted out and showering me with gas, I was happy with the outcome.

Hey, I got a b*tch. At the Maverick gas stations in Cheyenne and northern Colorado, when I start pumping the gas, a loud, obnoxious video begins playing on the gas pump screen. I enjoy the Maverick stations in general, but now I seek other places.
I have run into the same situation in Pennsylvania. Yes, very annoying and startling if you are not ready for it.
Methanol works well, but you need to double the size of the fuel tank, plus all fuel system components need to be made of something that won't corrode.

Scotty, the problem with the maintenance at these convenience store gas stations is one of the Government's making. They have hiked the minimum wage up so high, they can't afford to pay someone to slowly go around and fill the towel holders and put water in the reservoirs.
My neighbor has two horses that cost her around $8k a year to own...boarding, feed, vets, farrier, and various show and activity fees. She should've bought a Celica instead. 😂

When all my trucks quit or had something wrong with them we have used our Thoroughbreds for picking up parts to have the old trucks operating again. The real live horses always start! Fuel is cheap & available almost everywhere , even in many cities.Have the right pairs & you can have a new model every year. If were all forced to go all electric we will be going back to real live horse power!

I don’t know if the dealership on the mechanical side uses an estimating program but on the collision repair side I can tell you that the software for estimating damages runs anywhere from $5 to $10,000 a year.
Sometimes it can take many hours to write up an accurate damage, appraisal or estimate .
Insurance appraisers get paid for writing estimates .
But usually the estimate turns out to be free if the customer decides to have that shop do the repairs

The reason they don't give receipts at the pump is that they want you to go inside to purchase something. Many Sierra Gas stations have been purchased by East Indian people and they don't do maintenance on any of their stations. Many pumps don't work, credit card readers don't work, the screens are so bad you can't read them, and they won't give you a receipt.

They lied about being able to recycle them.
They never recycled batteries, only the metal casings and the cells with 80% or more life left get repurposed. The rest of it gets trashed and always has been. If we switched to salt battery tech this would be different, but engineers are still developing them for commercial use.

If a legitimate car dealer sold you a stolen car then you need to contact an attorney and 1 get the payments stopped immediately. Why should you have to pay money for something that’s not yours nor ever was. Then you sue Carvana for failure to do their job. You sue for the price you paid for the vehicle plus whatever the same vehicle cost when new. Remember you want enough to buy a new version of the same vehicle and your lawyer will take 60 percent of whatever you get so sue for a big number

When the gas pump doesn't give me my receipt, I take a picture of the price and amount of gallons on the screen. Later I write it down and figure up my MPG. Go inside...no thanks, lol.
Yes, hydrogen is expensive, difficult to store, it needs extra care to transfer to vehicles for fuel, BUT it burns clean, virtually no emissions except maybe a little water vapor.
Honda ain't what it used to be and neither is Toyota in my opinion. Keeping my 12' Altima which has been bulletproof in it's 13th year on the road until it dies. By the way the original CVT transmission has also been bulletproof. Probably because of the way I drive it and take care of it.

Scotty, you need to check.the VIN for new cars too. I purchased a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and 6 weeks later, my Wife looked out her office windows and saw a State Trooper behind our new Jeep. The dealership did an inventory check and could find one and reported it stolen. Even though the had one they had shown as sold. Bottom line, they tried to get us to return it, but we'd already put too many miles on it to sell new. They used lojack to find it.
Hey yall, I figured I’d put this question here being a car channel. I recently picked up a 2001 ford f150 with the 4.6L v8 and manual transmission. Sounds great, but it’s not the happiest when it comes to shifting. To get into 1st or reverse it’ll feel like it doesn’t want to go or even grind if I don’t put the shifter to 3rd or 4th beforehand. Also, when going up through the gears, I’ll have to keep some pressure on the shifter for a few seconds before it falls into place. I’m thinking it may just need the transmission fluid changed out but I’m not sure. Engine has about 347000 miles on it

I installed a flex fuel kit in my 02 Mustang GT and ran E85. It's cleaner burning but the gas mileage sucks. I don't believe in man made climate change but I did this because I was planning on putting a supercharger on the car.
I noticed a difference in video quality as soon as the video started. I like this new camera better imo.
I had a repair done on my engine the mechanic said i needed an oil pan gasket the same shop had replace a part to do with my steering i asked the shop manager if i could see the undercarriage of my front wheel drive car this mechanic said it didn't look like it needed one 😮
Several years ago. The Honda dealership in Fresno, California. Got into trouble for using filtered refurbished oil. In oil changes, the they advertised has using new oil.

Yes I had a mechanic someplace tell me that the diagnostic scan to see what's wrong with the vehicle will be $120.00 on top of whatever was wrong to fix it

I think it’s obvious that the Honda dealer didn’t want to do the work or do the job.
Also some mechanics really get ripped and pissed because I’ll go ahead and do an honest estimate using their time energy and labor just to have a person say no I don’t want the work done and then they go find somebody that will do the work cheaper maybe even themselves. Now that they have the diagnosis.
On some cars there is a placard on the firewall with the VIN also.

Before I knew anything about cars I plugged in a towing module and 5 pin trailer connector to the back of my mothers Nissan and it didn't work. Took it to a dealership and they charged $120 just to put the freaking fuse in.

The estimate thing is interesting because in the U.S. There are laws requiring a estimate to be upfront before any work be done, Its literally part of consumer law, The only way around it is if you sign a contract saying they will do x yz for x$. Other than they are legally required to tell you about how much it would cost to fix it, then there is a grace within that amount of which if it exceeds past that, they are comiting a crime.

Gotta love the mythology that somehow changing your carbon-based fuel makes any different to the net CO2 output. Makes no difference on paper (this is physical chemistry 101 stuff).
Problem with methanol is that it is hydrophillic. Meaning it absorbs water from the atmosphere. Lots of water in the air when at sea...
Also lower potential energy than diesel. Meaning you need more of it...
If a ship is using 80k gallons per day I'm sure h20 in the fuel wouldn't be a big problem. Now if you put it in your car and take a month to use it in humid conditions.... I fill up every 2-3 weeks so methanol powered car wouldn't be right for me. Back in 2007-2014 I drove 90 miles per day, I filled up every 4 shifts in my v6 tiburon and every 6 shifts in my vw tdi. Not enough time to worry about stale/watery gas
My windshield fluid stopped pumping liquid. I was bringing it in for some routine work and asked them about it. They said the tubing was bad and wanted $225 to replace it. Turns out there was a cut in the tubing. I cut out the bad section, got little bigger piece of tubing I had on hand, it was snug but I still taped the ends. Works fine, no cost to me, but I am suspect on how a line of windshield washer tubing had a cut in it. The cut spot was in an air gap between where it left the fender wall on the passenger side and went to the hood where the nozzles are. It didn't bend, twist or touch anything.
They leave the receipt roll empty so the customer has to enter the store. While waiting in line the manager hopes to cash in on the "impulsive buyers".

AAMCO garage did the same thing to me gave me the estimate and the diagnosis and said that if I decide that the work done that would be added or deducted from the total cost of the repair so it seems like a fair way to do business if
Oh Scotty...there's such a thing as 'business Accounting'...and has nothing to do with automobiles, either ICE or EV.
Large 'profitable' companies buy 'distressed' companies, all the time, and then shutter the same recently purchased, distressed companies, and either sell the assets or 'crush them'....AND....this is main point...take this 'monetary business loss' and apply it against any 'gains' from the profitable company, thereby enjoying a huge TAX Break.
It's all rather premeditated...and it's not a new concept.
Maybe the reason gas station don't care about squeegees is because they don't make anything on their gas. Yep oil companies are that greedy. Gas is a loss leader for station owners.

Hi Scotty. I own a 2014 Buick Encore, 84,000 miles and I’ve been getting a check engine light. I was down in Alabama and bought gas at a Texaco and drove about 10 miles after fill up and the check engine light came on and the car seemed sluggish. I bought a PEA fuel system cleaner and after about 100 miles the light turned off. This has happened a couple of times since then and the fuel system cleaner seemed to work. I finally stopped at an Advance Auto store and checked the codes and the only code was a P0299 Engine Underboost DTC severity 2 of 3. Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?????
