My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.
You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

This turned out so adorable!! I love that you explain your mistakes so that we know what to look out for. Thank you 😊
Love how the music stopped when talking about using fabric covered buttons again 😂😂🧡
Waiting for ✨The Lucy Collection✨ You are doing an amazing job ❤️
I always go here when I'm looking for some peace and calm and a cute video that actually teaches me something! Thanks from a fellow Dutchie 😊🇳🇱
😄💕
@@Loepsie Hi
It looks great! Also, I always appreciate your different angles and footage of your sewing machine. So fun to see XD
What a cute cape style! I only have longer-style capes in my wardrobe, but I love the silhouette you are getting with this shorter version. Might have to add this one to my to-sew list 🙂
Pro tip: iron every seam after sewing it, it makes everything neat and easier to sew.
Lots of love from Russia ❤️
Top stitching also makes a more professional and neat finish
That is my dream item, always wanted to have such a thing in my wardrobe. It turned out absolutely adorable. Also, your videos are so calm. Maybe you’ll do one about how you style capelet? I’d love to see that!
oh man anyone remember bernadette's video with a german couture tailor about collars I think it scarred me
Yes! When she mentioned making the collar, I thought oh jeeze, collars are ridiculously complex. She did a good job without all the extra bits used in Bernadette's video
Ooh I love a good capelet so cute and it seems a wonderful way to use up fabric good to remember
I’m so glad you made one of these... putting it on my projects list ☺️. You did a great job😁
You are so adorable and totally enjoy your originality !
I modified my cap last week too!
So yes the finished product worked better than i thought but it took some fun and brain power to switch up what i did! 😅
I love this and it looks so good on you. You must be really pleased with it. Brilliant!
The capelett came out adorable
I've had a bit of a sad/stressful day and your sewing vids always calm me down and cheer me up so this was perfectly timed. Thank you :)
So darned cute! And we can tell that you are not only delighted, but surprised at how much you liked the way it turned out. Being surprised that I like something I make is a familiar, if infrequent, outcome of my sewing attempts. It's like you are gingerly trying to ice skate across a pond, and amazed you got through it without falling on your behind.
Hey! Lucy! How are you? I was looking for the next video .It's looking great I love the color. And the buttons I really love it. You are the person who make me happy . you are an inspiration for me to be creative . I love your all videos. I think it's my next project.
So cute! 🪡🧵✨
I LOVE that you've gravitated towards becoming a sewing channel. Your videos are so relaxing, I typically fall asleep the first watch. And I also love sewing, so the second watch is so inspiring! Please keep making more!
Love the way it turned out!
This is really cuteee❤️ I actually own something like that but to stay indoors. The fabric is really soft, almost like a blanquet, and i wear it when i'm using the computer or working, because it keeps me warm and it is really comfortable. It also has a hood and looks supernice. Maybe you don't want something like that, but it's what has reminded me of 🤣
The button placement is so perfect! I can see them in the closer shots of the finished capelet, but from farther away I couldn’t even tell where they were!
Wow, that turned out well! I made a wool cape for my Mom for Christmas and top stitched the edges of the cape and around the collar. It really made it look much tidier, more professional, and less poofy.
This looks super adorable! One way to improve yourself would be to iron your seams with steam after every step :)
Love from Germany 🥰
This looks so cute! I love the music, also :)
it looks so good! I would love to live in a cold country so I could use this kind of clothing.. If you still want to reduce a little more of the bulk, try top stiching all the edges.
@Loepsie
These are great for formal/dressy events if you don't want to wear a bra or cami with your gown/cocktail dress! You can keep your chest area covered and look super classy at the same time!
It's adorable omg!!
You can also add another top stitch along the edges and seams to smooth it out more
It’s so nice! If you ever do want it less poofy looking you could always do a quick top stitch all around it. Although it’s quite cozy🥰🥰
I see you're using your old sewing machine. I love that machine!
The capelet is gorgeous!!!
Such a gorgeous piece bravo! You are the first RUclips channel I actually watched and followed regularly for years. You are so authentic and natural! I love and always will love your content :) all the best,
I love this, and especially the collar. Oh, and the pattern matching. I bought two little capelets in Turkey ten years ago and have worn them all winter every winter since.
It's so adorable! Reminds me od Edwardian capelets. I am all for a video of styling it 😊
This is such a cute vintage school boy look with the pants
Oh god! A cape/capelet is also on my project list. Luckily I don't mind having the form of a traffic cone, although I recently saw a cape with like holes for a belt under the arms/around the waist, as to give it a more fitted look? We'll see :) Thanks so much for the video!
Super cute! You could try understitching if you wanted the layers to stay flat. but it does look cozy the way it is :) this is also my list of things to make
watching this while im also sewing my cloth 💕 love your videos lucy 🥰
So cute! Top stitching really helps with puffiness. Especially on collars :)
At first i thought that the pants you made and were wearing during the end was a skirt you made! That would be such a cute A line skirt idea, with the buttons on the side like that in that grey colour. I wish I were more motivated to take up sewing!!
Super cute! I’ve been wanting to make a cape. Now it’s on top of the list. 🙂
This looks amazing, I now want to make one too!!
A way to help deal with the "ploofy"ness is to understich the lining and undercollar. It'll help the seams lay flatter.
Oou you have Polish sewing mashine. Beautiful Capelet
It's just lovely! You did a great job.
Great job Lucy! Also, your new username picture suits you very well. Love it🤍
Thank you! 😄
OMG!! I love it! So cute! I want one!!❤️ well done girl!!
It's beautiful; well done! Small tip - topstitching the seams would make the bulkiness lie flat ;-) . looking forward to the next vid x
That came out of so well! Lovely! Thank you for sharing. :)
Love it! I wish you had tried it on with one of your beautiful dresses so we could see if it gave you that desired look you were going for 😍
This is so inspiring. I love it. Definitely want to make one too.
It's so cute 😍😍😍
As always your videos make me happy ☺ the cape came out so cute 💕
That's really cute, love it and has inspired me to make one, just have to wait for buttons to arrive. How about a Miss Marple type longer tweed one that has a belt round the middle with cut through holes in the fabric?
Looks good! Glad you got the buttons to work!!
❄️Always good to see you❄️
Fabulous 👌
It turned out so cute😍 you did such a good job! Great work❤️
So funny, Gertie had a capelet pattern come out a few weeks ago, so I thought you might do hers in this video!
Gertie?
@@Quntah888 Gertie, or Gretchen Hirsch, is a pattern designer and sewist. She just did a capelet pattern on her patreon and it was awesome, definitely a great gal to follow, if you like 50s and 60s fashion :) fun that this idea has originated in at least two different places on youtube! Capelets are coming back, I guess :D
So cute! 👏 Great job!
Super cute capelet! I'll put it on my to do list as well ☺️. Maybe you can wear it for a stroll next week, as it will be quite warm :D
Love it!
I'm much more dramatic because one of my dream projects is a full on fantasy cape but this turned out soooo cute! 💕
I already made some of those, haha! Was in need of a more wearable one 😜
Love from India 💕
Cute! You should shorten the red capelet
Beauty with brain applause👏👏👏
Looks lovely. I’m wanting to make a vintage skirt cape, any ideas please.
I love it ❤ I want to make one for me but I don't have a pattern. I will search on google, maybe I find something similar. I feel so motivated to sew right now 😅 I'm still a beginer. I just made a circle skirt and some alterations here and there.
I've recently started sewing again after doing a bit with my great aunt as a kid (she's 90 now and an amazing seamstress who worked in a clothing factor in the 40s and 50s!). I have the WORST spatial awareness when it comes to patterns and how everything fits together....... Putting the sleeves in my dress today took way longer than it needed to and gave my aunt a good laugh! I just don't get it!
Why not do frog closures in a dark rope?
This is so cute "0
Happy coinsident!
Dont look the gift horse in the mouth and move on so the mistake doesnt realise it is a mistake xD (with the collar)
I’m surprised you didn’t decide to join the #ADCapeCult. That cape would have definitely kept definition at the waist, without making it any shorter. Also, I just love the design, and I’d love to make one for myself. Though I’ve heard that bustier people do have to mock it up quite a bit to have it fit properly.
I considered it, but figured I probably didn't have enough fabric for that one. I'd definitely like to make it in the future!
Love it & u❤️
Would making the arm coverings longer throw off the look you were going for with the waistline?
Great work.
I think that’s a nice idea! Even doing a high-low cape would work well in my opinion. More warmth for the arms but still showing off the waistline detail of the outfit underneath. I suppose though it would look not ideal from the back. Hmm I still think it’d be nice.
It would be cute with a fur collar
Do you have mind reading powers? I was drooling over caplets on Pinterest and looking up sewing patterns last night!
I love you So much 😻😍😍
first time i hear lady say 'i don't need pockets'' :D
😃
Very cute! I think the collar turned out perfectly. You’re going to get a lot of wear out of this piece. Caplets are perfect for when it isn’t super cold, but you need a little something.
How lovely ! 🌷
Try topstitching the edges. It will not look pouffy
I love this capelet! It actually reminded me of a vintage pattern I saw on Reddit just now. The pattern is basically a circle skirt, but it is drafted in a way that has very little waist. Reddit - sewing - Interesting near-zero-waste Russian circle skirt pattern (1960): anyone made this, or able to help translate the instructions? www.reddit.com/r/sewing/comments/g2il98/interesting_nearzerowaste_russian_circle_skirt/ I don't have the body for this type of skirt any more, but it would be adorable on someone like you, and I think it would be an interesting thing to make.
