Objectively, yes. 7-10 were the best FF games by a country mile. Ever since then, the series has rapidly declined (coinciding with the merger of Squaresoft and Enix Corp). Squaresoft died and took FF with it. 10 was last FF before the merger. I think X2 was fine, but after that, the games were just never anywhere near as good.
@@eeebee6166 I really enjoyed X-2, lovely soundtrack. I'd agree with that, the games after that period I found I didn't really connect with them as i did with the games from 7-10.
@@Natalie-Second-Account I still liked X-2. The music was pretty good and I really enjoyed the search for Tidus and Yuna playing a more central role in the game. But when I think of my favorite FF games, X-2 doesn't really jump out. I will say, I did really enjoy the dress sphere systems and the different mechanics.
@@TheGrumpyMeeple I can see how you would think that if you were objectively wrong. I'm kidding btw. My very first FF was 8 and I knew about it because of the Pizza Hut Demo Discs in the late 90s (I was born in 1990). So I played all the PS1 FFs and that was my first experience. I later played 1 and 2 but they're just so unintuitive and grindy to me compared to the others. I just can't go back that far and play those but I can go back to 7-10 and play those easily. I'm sure it's partly nostalgia goggles and I will admit that the story for FF6 in particular is amazing. I can't knock the games that started the series, but I think they crescendo'd with 7-10 and then a clear decline began.
Especially with digital purchases today, kids don't know the feeling of having finished a major battle/scene and having to get up to switch the disk. It's a silly thing, but part of the experience to me.
Final Fantasy in its 1997 - 2001 era wont ever be matched in terms of its groundbreaking impact. The quality of the FMVs, the hype surrounding each release, it was a great childhood to have. I wonder how the younger generation of today will feel a decade later with the current releases of Final Fantasy games.
I honestly was super hyped for FFXVI as well. The only problem is that I don't have the time to play it rn and buy myself a PS5, so I won't be able to play it until a couple years before FFXVII if that comes out lol. I'm hyped more than for the stories for the music. I already heard the whole OST.
I used to love the Final Fantasy series from that time. Each new release was aiming for innovation and influencing the RPG trends of the next generation, including aspects like music, visuals, and gameplay systems. It held a strong presence in all these areas. Back then, whenever a new Final Fantasy game was released, it ignited intense discussions among the player community. However, things changed after Final Fantasy X. The series started prioritizing impressive graphics over gameplay innovation and maintaining a cohesive story. From my perspective, starting with Final Fantasy XII, none of the standalone games managed to fully conclude their stories within the main game. The stories either remained incomplete or required multiple DLCs and spin-offs to fill in the gaps. Nowadays, the current state of the Final Fantasy series relies on drawing inspiration from other similar games to compensate for its weaknesses. For example, the recent transformation in FF16 is an attempt to revitalize the series. Despite this effort, the later stages of the game often feel empty and are padded with numerous tedious, slow-paced side tasks to artificially extend the gameplay time, which is quite disappointing.

I gotta be that guy cause it's making me lose focus at work haha- is track 40. Scorching Desert labeled right? It sounds like Phantoms - by Junta Nakano from FFX?
Keep this stuff up. I'll be replaying this many many times! You guys rock.
Thank you!
Please do be that guy. It very well may be wrong, it was a lot to get 160 odd tracks right. I'll check it out and get back to you.
Thanks for the lovely comment!
@@FinalFantasyChill you got it! I'm obviously a huge fan and a nostalgist like the rest of us here.
I think I found another edit, if you don't mind! 15). Reunion starts around the 48:58 time stamp. It's labeled 45:50.
I'm glad to keep listening and if I find anymore I will happily let you know!
Thanks again!
@@bigBadSweed Thank you so much! I need to find a better way to do the time stamps for these long videos.
There is something off about the picture. Chrono Cross is written as one title here, when it originally has a different font and was released only in NA and Japan. Yet the european versions of the Final Fantasy games are on the floor. I mean I have them all. I got an imported Chrono Cross version.
But maybe it's just me.
Still lovely music and very nostalgic~
That background…!
This is IT btw. These are my Final Fantasy games. This is an 8 hour collection Raine Cloud era FF & Chill. 💯
Mine too! It's my golden era.
Thank you thank you thank you
Thaaaaaaaank yoooou !! =)
No problem!
😳😳😳😳😳 Gonna be epic...!
Hope you enjoy it! We have both had a super chaotic week, I'm surprised we got this one ready in time.
@@FinalFantasyChill It helped me nap for a good 2 hours so THANK YOU! I cannot wait to listen to he entire thing (awake). I hope things have calmed down on your end. My week has been very...weird...but as always, your music helps relax me so, once again, I will thank you. Like always. 💖
@@rainecloud much better now thank you! Really glad it helped you chill!
Fanatstic!
excellenttttt
@@xaby996 ❤️
Number 121. That is all 💥💥💥💥
Thanks mate, glad you found it. If you like that track, the section on our channel called "upbeat remixes" although terribly named might be up your street.
@@FinalFantasyChillwill do bud!
Love this! I know it's a stretch, but do you have any plans for a masterclass on producing these pieces? Just tell us what software to get, and I'd totally be down for a paid day-long masterclass for entry-level arrangers! Not sure if there's enough demand for this, so maybe a small Zoom group??? (:
No plans on a masterclass but I am going to start streaming the process on twitch, can answer any questions there. Link to the channel is in the description
@@FinalFantasyChill NEED the Conde Petie remix solo!!!!
8 hours?! Work time. Here I go.
Hope you enjoy it dude!
Nice I love the remix of Gizamaluke Grotto. Who made it ? Thank you.
Me. I did all the remixes on this channel.
@@FinalFantasyChill Wow Nice, I Love the lead saw and the reverb, well done. Is there a place to buy it in high quality ?
@@LudovicCharlier I'm slowly putting them on to spotify, keep an eye on the channel discussions
The gaming industry, as a whole, changed. I wouldn't place the blame squarely on SquareEnix. The gaming industry hasn't been the same since the early 2000's. I don't know how to explain it. It's just a feeling.
I like the version of the first song
thz
Is there any way I could download or purchase any one of these songs individually? Wonderfully put together playlist.
I've been trying to work out the best way to get these up on demand on mass, soon hopelly, if you're subbed to the channel I'll post on the community page as soon as I've worked it out.
So many hours dedicated to FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, and FFX! I played the crap out of them. There was only so much you could do in the NES/SNES era of Final Fantasy, but Playstation opened up a whole new world possibilities. I still love the classics, though. I sold off my entire game collection of NES, SNES, Playstation, PS2, & PS3 games for almost $ 3000.00. Hated to, but my children had ZERO interest in playing those older systems/games.
@aaronkearns944 that is a shame, I may have held on to them out of stubbornness and nostalgia. Not a bad lump of cash to have though!
Yeah it wasn't easy to let them go at all, but I had so many games I never play anymore. Sure I will regret it when I am in my 60s and retired. lol
@aaronkearns944 we will always have them digitally at least.
Pandemonium from ff9 here is freakin' awesome
One of my favourite parts of any FF
FF8 was great
thank you so much for this. where can i find the individual songs or download?
Nowhere yet. Give us about a month and we should be up on Spotify and such
@@FinalFantasyChill i need that version of besaid island.
@@FinalFantasyChill any update if i could get the besaid island track somewhere?
@@xCorzo650x sorry for the slowness, I've been very slack on the iTunes, Spotify front, family commitments have taken over a bit. I'll do a community post as soon as its up and ready. If you really want the file to listen to on demand, find me on discord and I'll send you it :)
@@FinalFantasyChill hey i dont have discord but i just want to download the besaid island track its so good! how can i get there?
Love this. what is the intro song you have called right at the start? I know its the ff prelude but it sounds so good.
I just messed around with it, it's a remix I did and then cut up and processed with different sound effects for our title screen.
Hi ther may i ask where can the video background pic it look quite noice!!!!
The picture is an animation done by one of the two of us (James) who run this channel :)
Man, the balamb garden remix is brilliant, is yours?
Thank you very much. yes all the remixes were done by us.
