This is one of 16 or 17 songs Dimash sang for the Chinese TV competition show called I Am Singer. He was entered as a wild card, the only non-Chinese competitor and the youngest competitor ever. He totally blew them out of the water. All those folks backstage are the other competitors. His first song was S.O.S., and the next morning he was a star. He said in an interview that when he left his hotel room that morning, he found bodyguards waiting for him and had no idea why. ;-) For this song, his father was in the audience (you'll see him every now and then in the audience in a blue light), but his dad didn't tell Dimash he was there until after he finished singing.
The entire audience of 500 are music professionals as well as the judges.
Opera 2 is a famous russian song by Vitas. He`s known for his high notes, but Dimash goes higher. So Dimash sang the song the right way. I love his high notes, because they`re clean and not forced, and I love his very deep notes. Different suggestion: Dudaraz (Dimash Almaty concert)

Yes! This will be much more to YOUR guy's liking. A must for you. Also, I think you should see the MV of Be With Me a cool James Bond- ish vibe in which he raps !Closer to your thing. You also would probably like War and Peace, his own composition as is When I've Got You. Thanks for hanging in there! Don't let it "not make sense" to you until you have heard the kind of Dimash's music that suits your tastes better because its there. Last but not least, he has a brand new performance video, just out with an MV to follow soon, that's "HOT" called SMOKE. You're bound to really enjoy all of these.

Actually, the audience is carefully chosen and they are the judges in that competition. They are very musically educated and they were familiar with the song, that is why they reacted the way they did!
This was a contest, so high notes were part of that. This song was well known in China.
I also don't think the song is that pretty, but knowing the lyrics helps. ❤
Dimash's voice, on the other hand is magnificent! Sustained vibrato with those high notes is crazy good!

The behind the scenes story of this song is very adorable.
It was a surprise, that he had stayed more than one week in the competition. So he was all alone in China, for the first time away from his family and felt very homesick. What he didn’t know, was that his father was in the audience. They show him standing in the shadows.
But Dimash only noticed him after the performance, and was very surprised and happy to see him.
But at the same time he felt embarrassed, that his father saw him sing it. Since he sang it a little flirty. 😂
But we love the cheeky grin. ❤ The song is also kinda funny. 😊
Compare this with the original by Vitas. They are very different. And this wasn’t even Dimash‘s top range. 😉

At 6:07 that is Dimash's father. Dimash did not know his father was there. Only after Dimash performed and everyone was clapping and he was taking his bow--if you had kept the film footage playing, you'd have seen--he saw his father right there in the audience, and he did a double take. Then, as Dimash and his dad went to hug each other, the announcer announced that it was Dimash's father, who had traveled from Kazakhstan to surprise his son. Dimash's popularity grew exponentially after he appeared on this show, especially among the Chinese. (I think it also benefits him that he looks like a blend of European and Asian.)
Lyrics helped me with this one; that and keeping in mind that this was just one performance in a vocal competition. The song is about a man who has finished the construction of his house, a metaphor for achieving success or reaching a goal, but ultimately finds himself inside weathering the storms all alone.
(Something along these lines, please forgive my errors.)

There is another singer that can or could sing this song, and he forbids Dimash to cover it because obviously, Dimash can do it without autotune. Dimash could sing this song only in China, you won't see him sing it again
This was the second song that he sang during this contest. SOS was the first song. It pretty much launched his career. He was the youngest contestant ever, and a wild card, since he was a foreigner. They didn't think he'd make it past the first round. He actually even competed first with SOS. They always say that, if you think you're having a bad day, try being a singer who has to follow Dimash. LOL He couldn't win the contest because he was not born in China. There's a huge protest. They actually apologized and changed the rule for the next year. Who sings The Show Must Go On and Hello during this contest. He also has the new music video When I've Got You, which combines rock, pop, and a lot of other genres. It's a bit of a salute to Michael Jackson, which is one of his favorite artists.

This song and Dimash popped up on my feed years ago billed as the best singer in the world. I gave it a listen but wasn't thrilled with the high girlie to me sound of the song. But he was just cute as a button so I listened to sos, still a little so-so. But after Queen's "Show must go on" I was hooked!

Hi guys, Dimash did a cover of Lionel Richie 's Hello, The Show Must Go On (Queen) in 2017. Stranger ( 2021 New Wave competition for young artists in Sochi Russia. You should hear Vitas’ version of this. He wrote it for his own voice-won’t let Dimash perform it again. LOL. As for the cut-outs, I guess I think the ones who look kind of nauseous are probably contestants who have to follow this, and the ones who look like they’re happy and impressed are judges.
Check out When I’ve Got You-it’s a different genre and handled very well. Also there’s a video of him singing a couple songs for an audience in Iran-his stage performance is VERY different and worth some attention.
