Having Mick Fleetwood seemed perfectly fitting to me, not random. He was immediately recognizable, and when he explained his history in the movie it made it seem like a future based on reality, not just a fictional future. Another interesting fact: Dynamo (played by Erland van Lidth) did not originally sing opera. This was added because van Lidth was a trained opera singer. The song he sings is a solo from the 3rd Act of The Marriage of Figaro, where the Count swears revenge against Figaro because he feels tormented that Figaro will have Susanna, who isn't interested in the Count. That's fascinating in a "six degrees of separation" kind of way. "The Running Man" has always been one of my all-time favorite movies, along with "Total Recall." They changed it to a construction worker for the movie to explain why he was so big (did I learn this in a Minty video? Can't *recall*... ). It seems after he achieved superstar status, that once Arnold attached himself to a production he sort of took it over and everything had to be changed to fit around his persona. Save me from mentioning it lol not far from me in Basingstoke Hampshire 👌
And he played NewKirk in Hogan's Heroes.
You left out three things. 1. Jesse Ventura, who played Captain Freedom, was in Predator also. 2. Another musician, Dweezil Zappa appeared in this movie as well. 3. Richard Dawson was a panelist on The Match Game, another game show.
i aint got time to bleed!
4 things then, because Sven-Ole Thorsen was also in Predator (and many other of Arnold's movies)
AWESOME!!! loved this movie growing up, hilarious one liners. "I don't do requests" and "Cause Im going to say PLEASE" and "go ahead, won't show on this shirt" "see you at the ten year prison reunion"
Minty, you are awesome!!! I love everything about your videos!!! Great info, and I totally agree with almost every word you say!!! And I really like how you say it!! Your videos a very well made and just soooo much fun to watch and hear your comments!! 80's movies are the best, you and I grew up on them. And because they are awesome!! I own a starsky car and mad max car! My favorite car of all time!! Please keep making your kickass videos!!! Your great !!!!!!
Dawson was also on "Hogan's heroes".
Newkirk
"I served in a fictitious military,"
He was actually from the UK
I know Nothing Nothing
Richard Dawson was a notorious skirt chaser...along with the guy who played Hogan on Hogan's Heroes.
He should have said "Now, Absolute Zero!" Much better.
Sadly, "absolute zero" (0 degrees Kelvin, or -273 degrees Celsius) wasn't known outside of the scientific community until an experiment with solidified mercury as an electromagnetic superconductor for elevated trains was made public around 1985.
Jesus...
Dude, Superman as “The Running Man”, I can dig that, it’d be badass!
@kevin nelson One of Christopher Reeve's greatest movies was called Somewhere in Time. We watched it in school and I was amazed how much I liked the film. Also written by Richard Matheson who did I am Legend.
13:45 Running Man did look more like a tv show than a movie by the way it was shot kinda like a high budget episode of the Outer Limits. I'm sure this hurt it's box office numbers quite a bit.
Best line in the film " Here is Sub Zero. Now just plain zero." I feel bad for Australians- they arent aware of all the US TV like " Hogans Heroes" with Richard Dawson and many great shows.
Your vids are great dude just great!
Minty I want you to know I Enjoy your Video's Very Much 😀
This was an amazing movie and probably the closest you could get to a John Carpenter movie without being directed by John Carpenter himself.
I guess Mick finally realized "Players only love you when they're playing". LOL =)
One of my favorites growing up and still a classic. Didn't know about the book, I will have to check it out.
Also compare Running man to the German movie "Das Millionenspiel" made in 1970. You will find a lot of similarities.
Ventura always reminded me as a live-action Ike Hagger in this movie.
he looks so funny in this film XDDDD
You mean Mike Haggard as yeah, Haggard is based on Venture, MMA fighters Don Frye and Dan Severn.
Coincidentally, Don Frye started as Haggard in a fan made Final Fight film, BROKEN GEAR. You can what it on RUclips.
@@ramonantoniobennett-ryuuke6301 I doubt very much that Mike Hagar is based on Don Frye or Dan Severn, considering the first Final Fight came out in 1989...
Still, he could be based in part on Ventura... I'd go with that.
That cool 1980's video game font. So nostalgic.,
Minty, this was your funniest video to date! Not only do you finally lose it and go off on the haters, but then you go and mimic Chewbacca pretending to play Schwartzeneggar. Priceless!
PS. Y'all in the rest of the world missed out by not getting Family Feud. Richard Dawson was the sleaziest game show host that's ever been, and he was fantastic!
one of the great movies of Arnie. Love your outro music by the way.
Oh dear god!!! I cant believe he made superman 4 over running man.
Reeves made a ton of money in Superman 4
If they re-release this movie with more of the book shown, it would be great!
I’d love to see a breakdown of No Retreat No Surrender. One of my favorites from the 80s
🤘
I watched this movie for the first time yesterday...two days ago...I've watched it 3 times in the last 48 Hours. I think it's now my favorite Arnold movie or at least a close second behind Conan the Barbarian. Naturally I had to check to see if you'd done a video on it, you did not disappoint.
Amazing Arnie impression at the end, Minty 😊👍
Can we get a 10 things we didn’t know about the remake of night of the living dead 1990? Tom savini directed it, and tony Todd is awesome in it
Yes, Minty, please make this happen!! 😀😃
Hint- wear glasses that fit - Elton John called-- he wants his glasses back
Whos watching Running Man in 2019 which takes place in a totalitarian 2019?
Ambar Martinez good thing Coke's aren't $6
I've heard people say it's set in 2019, but where is that actually stated? I watched it recently and noticed it starts in 2017, then it mentions IIRC "18 months later" or something, but at that rate it could have been 2018. Did I miss something?
EDIT: Nvm, I got to the part with the poster...
But seriously, that cameo is awesome. =)
This is one of my all time fave movies. Can watch again and again! Gimme that Dark Synth Dystopian aesthetic all day every day!
