The fact that this woman is a paramedic who I’m sure has seen a lot of REAL emergencies is calling 911 wasting their time like they are her therapist is crazy!!!
There definitely is that angle. But I wonder if maybe she sort of felt entitled to it? Like she is a support for the EMS system herself and so when she got really distressed maybe she sort of felt like she deserved that support back, at least in the moment when emotions were high and she didn’t know what else to do. I’m just speculating though.
@@kristinad8786 that is a good point!
@kristinad8786 maybe she was more afraid than what she wanted to say. Maybe she WAS being abused and didnt have the ability to speak it. This happens to alot of DA victims
For the record
I'm a paramedic and I don't think I'd call 911 even if I was missing a limb. Unless I was missing my hands AND legs rendering me incapable of driving my damn self to the hospital..........or im dead rendering me incapable to call 911 😂😂. I take the term 'over my dead body' very seriously
Ugh. Everyone’s annoying in this situation in their own differing ways, all the way up to the judge.
Judge was perfect.
Lol right? I’m 9 min and I have to stop. I can’t continue.
@@user-qv2sh2nc8b judge needs to take up a marijuana habit or something or he’s gonna have a coronary. No reason to get that worked up over a couple of fighting children.
@@user-qv2sh2nc8b A judge acting almost as unhinged as the people he's supposed be dealing with, is nowhere near perfect. He lost the right to lose his shit the moment the robe's put on. Judges are held to much higher standards in a courtroom as well as their personal lives since, in the US anyway, they're elected officials.
@@user-qv2sh2nc8b The judge was completely unhinged. If he can't control his temper, then he has no business being a judge.
My suspicions of Cara increased when I heard initial emergency responders found her holding Annamarie in her arms. As a paramedic with years of experience she should know that 1) if you think they may be alive, you don't move a person with potential spinal cord injury, 2) if you're sure they're dead, you don't disturb the crime scene (if you're innocent).
Well you're probably right about that, if you truly love somebody you may not be thinking straight. I know first responders are good for high pressure situations but it can be different when it's someone you love. That being said, this bitch guilty.
My eyebrows raised when she ran next door at got someone else to call emergency services. I mean who does that? She's calling her all day but suddenly can't make the call for help? A paramedic knows time is of the essence. You call then you try and help the injured party. She didn't because she knew she was dead before she went down the stairs and I think we can guess why! So tragic.
@@traceyjohns3490 I don't know if she's guilty or not, but I can understand taking the baby next door. Even in an emergency, I think I would make sure my kids were out of this terrifying situation before helping my parnter. I suspect she's guilty, but man oh man, I don't know that I would be sure enough to convict. Too bad they didn't find the basket that was in her truck.... or just any evidence that was more convincing. The jury heard the evidence in much more detail than this video so I can only assume (and hope) that they got it right.
I agree with you, but at the same time, it is different when you're working on someone you know. It's a lot harder to think clearly and not panic. I'm an EMT so I've seen a lot, but when the vet invited me to assist in the spaying of my cat as a learning experience, I had to leave to room after almost passing out twice lol. I have never been the type to pass out but seeing my little kitty tied down the the table and getting sliced open was too much. Can't imagine what it'd be like if something happened to a child of mine
Only reason I'm even alive is because my mom knew this.
Suffered a severe accident (hit by a car) as a toddler, and she immediately called 911 and says, obviously i don't remember, that she didn't touch me even though she really wanted to comfort me, because she was aware it could kill me.
UPDATE (for those interested). Last Thursday, Oct. 19th, 2023... the Judge ended up sentencing Cara to 12-14 years in prison. If she maintains 'good behavior' in prison, she may be eligible for release around 2029.
Thank you for the update! I came to comments for it.
Yikes
What about the 12 years she did already?
@@hyperstarter7625doesn’t sound like they are taking into account time served
Thanks. I wish they would have looked into Bob's background more.
The ridiculous phone calls made by Cara during her shopping trip, did it for me.
Ya, those types of alibi calls are nothing new in true crime but this is the first time one has been so annoyingly obvious that it made me mad. It’s nuts to me that someone that incredibly poor at acting would stake everything in their lives on their incredibly poor acting abilities. It’s like risking your life to summit Mount Everest if you’ve never climbed before.
“I got this, how hard could it be? Everything will work out fine for me I’m sure.”
Yep, definitely staged
You can literally here the mania in her voice. She sounds like a crazed lunatic.
Agreed. She never even changed her tone. She was perfectly calm with each call

They both were hard core borderlines. Without a doubt. Sad it ended so badly. Cara needed to be out away for life. She doesn’t deserve to get out in a couple of years time
Imagine being in debt, because you are obsessed with taking photos and aren't even that good at it. People are hella weird bruh
Filling an inner emotional void with stuff.
Can't relate
I had this cousin that called himself a photographer. He only got hired to do wedding photos. His shop didnt do too good. I suggested that maybe when taking wedding photos, have the couple and only the couple in the photo, he claimed that having something like a waterfall or big tree in the middle of the photo made it more artistic. ff you are a wedding photographer.
And tens of thousands of dollars in debt! Across three other people's credit! Wild.

Holy crap they were only married 2.5 years and reached this level of hatred?!
Lesbian rage is real
That’s what I was thinking but then I remembered my ex husband started attacking me after our first three months of marriage, after I was moved away from my friends and family on a military base in the middle of nowhere. Bad people hook you in, keep you segregated, and then make you feel like you can’t escape without serious consequences.
It sounds like these two were both aggressors and it was always going to end bad when neither was willing to bend for the sake of the child.
One did contribute with spendin large amounts of money and another is totally nuts
Lesbians have twice the rate of domestic abuse.
my mom said that my dad changed immediately after their wedding and he got even worse when they had me (their first born)
Insane. It took four mistrials only to convict Cara of voluntary manslaughter.
Lawyering up does wonders.
its because there is not much hard evidence besides some indirect stuff like the body was already stiff when paramedics arrived, stuff like that.
i would say that is VERY good evidence of staging the scene! but very hard to prove that it actually was the case! how does one prove the stiffness at the time? so it all comes down to hard to prove indirect things like statements!
I wonder if her mom is going to raise the baby while she's in prison?
@@ritawashere5787what baby? This is 13 years later.
Yeah, I don't get where one jury came up with 1st degree murder. How did they support premeditation? Even if you believe she covered up with paint and voice messages afterwards, that's not evidence of her intent before the act. If you think she's guilty, this fact pattern only goes as far as manslaughter.
When has "staying together for the kids" ever worked ? Huge mistake by the judge
ON GOD BRUH WTF
Stupid judge
How can a judge be so stupid?
It only works when the child has a mother and a father who are committed to the child above their own selfish nonsense. Two same-sex parents is no different than a single parent home that is missing either a mother or a father. This modern age is really awful for kids because, gay or straight, parents these days are accustomed to putting their own needs and desires above the developmental needs of the children involved. It's become the norm.
Yes ... the Judge should have issued a 'no contact' order due to the history of domestic violence ... having them live together was a set up for this murder most foul ....
I can’t believe people didn’t press charges running up peoples credit like that. She had several victims.
Cara’s voice has to be one of the most irritating and grating voices I have ever heard. Her whining to the 911 operator like she’s her own personal therapist is ridiculous
Agree 💯
Yes I couldn’t stand it and also that lawyer of hers - sheesh 🤣
Ugh, agreed!
They may not be people's therapists, but that attitude could certainly help 911 operators understand someone is feeling overwhelmed and might be in need of help, thus maybe helping prevent something bad from happening if they can send the help the caller needs.
Yeah what a narcissist
Those phone messages left by the defendant to the victim struck me as so sickeningly sweet and lighthearted as to be contrived and details to establish an alibi. The messages reminded me of Jodi Arias’ sing song, got lost call to Travis Alexander, Scot Peterson’s “Sweetie”, out-of-the-house and where calls to murdered wife, Laci and Alex Murdaugh’s “Babe”, away-from-the-house call to wife, Maggie.
You are spot on.
That's exactly it ..
The real crime is how these two histrionic and irresponsible idiots managed to slip past the system to adopt a child in the first place. They pretty much ruined her childhood forever.
we all know why they were given a child
The hell does histrionic mean?

I've heard so many of these judges and police officers yell and scream like the folks they're dealing with. That does nothing but heighten the stress of these situations. It's unprofessional and childish.
They get off on it, I’ve seen it many times before.
They don’t embrace de-escalation classes.
What gets me is the commenters who support people being treated this way by those in authority, with all these excuses, "he was probably sick of it" or "he's just trying to get through to them." These women weren't even yelling themselves in his court, so how is the judge's behavior reasonable or professional? I bet we all feel sometimes like we wish we could scream at annoying people at our jobs, but we can't. Excusing it from those who already have too much power is just condoning this idea in recent years that being rude and verbally aggressive is somehow commendable.
What happens to bad lawyers? They become judges.
Absolutely. I’ll get a “little” personal here. I struggled with addiction. The people that helped me the most were the ones that didn’t yell and degrade me and remind me of what an awful person I am… I’ve been sober for a long time. I’m still learning from my mistakes but I surround myself with these types of people. It’s scary having police and judges making major life decisions for families that are unwell, and suddenly can’t believe the worst scenario happened. People need help if it’s willing to be given and accepted.
Why is this judge SCREAMING at them?
I kinda liked it... The first judge they showed... When he told them to act like adults!!! I thought it was great!!! ♥️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
$95,000 in credit card debt? I can't imagine just the minimum payment.
They have the balls to take that huge loans to buy trinkets is absolutely appalling, if you have the money to repay it no complains.
I can understand the judges frustration, but given the seemingly constant back and forth with charges, but not separating, he should've ordered family therapy. Threatening them with CPS and forcing them to cohabitate without supports is not looking out for the best interests of anyone, especially the child. This could've turned out completely different if he'd been a bit more emotionally mature.
Fully agree with your opinion and honestly, I think he was going for a "tough love" stance and trying to be neutral but all he did was actually put Brianna in a potentially more hostile environment - he could have ordered her into a temporary guardianship and had a Guardian Ad Litem oversee the situation. But - hindsight is always 20/20 sadly. I hope their little girl is doing okay... She went through so much in her first years of life.... 😔
@@retard_activated Agreed on the tough love stance, but that's a parents job. The judge certainly doesn't love either of them. 😆
She'd be offered counselling by victims services, even if issues didn't appear until years later. They mentioned that she still has a relationship with her mom, so she must've worked through some of the issues. Hopefully mom got therapy as well while she was locked up.
Yep. Blame the judge. If only HE had been a bit more 'emotionally mature.' Not the toxic narcissistic spendaholic or the deranged professional victim with murderous inclinations... The judge is the one we should be focusing on...
@@PaddyMcMe Care to point out where the judge was remotely "blamed". Pointing out his flaws doesn't equate to blame, shithead.
LOL easy to blame the judge, but thise two were already unhinged before speaking with the judge. Cara seems to be severely mentally perturbed.
Cara's voicemails sounded sooo fake. Terrible actress
That coupled with the police interview made my mind up that she at least knew what happened if not having done it herself.
I was cringing so hard lmfao i had to pause inbetween
When I heard them I knew she was guilty
It’s so sad when children are caught between warring parents.
And it happens SO often.
Especially
It happened with me, and it sucks!! ☹
Somehow I’ve never seen a father being the problem, alteast I don’t remember. And I’ve seen hundreds of cases. The fact that lesbians couples being very unhealthy in most cases doesn’t help either. Statistics don’t lie.
Warring lesbians* get it right. An overwhelming majority of domestic violence happens between lesbian couples. 50/50 leadership just doesn’t work. It’s interesting that as their relationship deteriorated, they both turned to men. What does that tell you?
Nobody finds that male "friend" suspicious as hell? He sure likes hanging around this woman and her kid
Being in jail for a decade without having been convicted of a single crime is WILD to me. The voicemails and video footage of the Mcdonald's trip (and contradiction about eating there) sealed the deal for me, but I still think this is a massive human rights violation in our judicial system. Imagine this happening to innocent people.
To be fair she said on the voicemail that she went to McDonald's but then her daughter wanted Mac and cheese so they were going to burger king cuz that was the only place that had it. She never said they ate at McDonald's.
@@HvH420Burger King in the states has Mac and cheese ?!??!

"Especially black people" No.
Cara’s call to 911 seems like she wanted to just get statements on a recorded line
Exactly what I thought straight away.
Yes! That was my thought. She wanted a this documented.
As a first responder, i cant fathom why she would call 911 just to whine. She admits herself that it wasnt an emergency.
Feels like she wanted to make her wife look like an aggressor and herself a victim cuz she already planned to kill her. She knew they’d have record of these calls
A therapist is what she needed
Firstly, first responders could or should have evaluated her for a 72 hr hold, as she stated she felt she was having a nervous breakdown. I realize this means asking her if she felt like hurting herself or others. Obviously, in hindsight, she certainly was. Secondly, this call was a misuse of 911 at the time.
People RARELY die from a fall down the stairs.
They certainly don't end up strangled from a fall either!
Jeez they're ALL nuts! Poor Brianna. Of course it's always the kids who suffer when one or both parents cannot act like adults!
The judge is just as unhinged as the people he is chastising for being unhinged. They got something bad in the water over there lol
I completely agree! Losing your temper like that is as childish as what he was accusing them of. That guy has no business being in a position like that if he's going to lose it like that. He's supposed to be the adult in the room. Wow.
The judge was terrible. People in a volatile domestic dispute should not be sent home to live with each other
Yeah, unacceptable behavior in court. What's this judges name? We need an investigation
Unhinged? Really? These two were acting like little brats, and the judge treated them as such. Good job judge!

The woman defense attorney is in a Netflix documentary called 4th trial where she defends a guy wrongfully convicted of killing a cop in Boston in the 90s
I like Cara's last lawyer. Love her demeanor and presentation.
If you love her so much, why don't you mary her?
@@bojohannesen4352 wow that's original lol....
every single adult in this entire saga should be ashamed of themselves
Instead of saying “bag” like a normal American, people up north will pronounce the word “beeg”. So as opposed to saying “the rag in the bag”, they say “the piece of evidence was the REEG in the BEEG”. 😝
When you marry someone who looks like your twin 😳
This happens a lot with gay couples, I've noticed. I call narcissism...
Her neighbor did mention it being a domestic violence incident. I don’t see how the defense attorney missed that and no one else caught it.
I didn’t hear that in his call?
@@Sandra-dm8rdright that’s what the operator asked, “so maybe domestic?”
I got here within 36 seconds of posting! Great video.
Wait a minute... Rosemary had me CONVINCED at the end! She raises very important moments of doubt as it relates to other persons of interest and how the DA handled their investigation.
I still think Cara did it, but based on the very limited showing of Rosemary, I feel like she did a good job. I think people just don't like opinionated aggressive women with thick Jersey accents.
🙄
Jersey? No that's a New England accent.. like Boston. Us in NJ doesnt sound anything like her.
Only 16 minutes in and I can't stand Cara
It took you 16 minutes?!
Fair enough, she was never tolerable. I had it with her by then I guess. Crazy bitch
Those fake voice mails at 16:00 took my hate for her to a new level. Sooooo fake haha. Tbf, I hated Anna Marie too. Complete disregard for other people’s money = complete disregard for other people, someone shoulda pressed charges on her for credit card theft early on, not all the weepy other nonsense.
These two were nuts..
It’s ironic that the video talks about the defense attorney and how she came across cause the whole time I was wondering why she was so angry during her opening statement. It didn’t sound like she was talking to the jury but more like she was yelling at them. It was very off putting
The judge at the start was way worse. Kinda surprised the narrator didn't bring that up either.
Very unprofessional.
Wtf are you talking about? Have you never heard of passion?? Filthy cold hearted robots want one of them as if they aren’t playing with peoples entire lives. Fkn weirdos
The final sentence seems just, because I think she probably did it, but I am uneasy about the jury not having reasonable doubt.
Better to be uneasy about the entire American judicial system
The defenses hair though! 36:30 looks like super sonic
Shades of Billy Idol
During her interview, you can see her cover her face and cry but after doing so almost immediately looks for affirmation from the interviewer. Now breaking the case down. Yeah, it's a surprise to see they didn't get every end tied and called it domestic. The possibility that it could be someone else needs to be snuffed. However in retrospect, strangely, she would stage the crime scene due to the paint affirming as much. Paint that only takes 30 to an hour to dry would demonstrate that she had to have been splashed after death due to rigor mortise and paint.
I lived in the area at the time. What a circus it was.
The fact you can mistrial until the state gets you isn't justice, sounds like a work around for double jeopardy
Prosecutors have no control over whether or not a trial ends in mistrial. But there is a limit (which I believes varies between states), so they can’t just keep going until they get a verdict.
The real tragedy is that the defendant is often either in jail or their financial livelihood has been destroyed from the moment they were charged or even from the moment the crime goes public. And since lawyers charge insane amounts of money per hour, most defendants can’t afford to a keep good defense attorney on retainer for multiple trials. So with every mistrial, it becomes more likely that they’ll be convicted. And mistrials are the result of either there not being strong evidence from the prosecutor or there being strong evidence from the defense. Such cases are often the cases that result in innocent people being incarcerated, because the prosecution remains the same in strength, but the defense declines because the defendant often doesn’t have the financial means to hire a competent defense attorney.
It's not double jeopardy when the jury never reached a verdict. Had a verdict been reached, like not guilty, then she could not be tried again.
That was very interesting, that unreasonable doubt! STAY, you always do a good job, I have no questions after.
Such bs. She betrayed her when she killed her. Nothing less or anything else. So stupid.
She tripped on the shoes 😂
Defense attorney ‘Billie Idol’s’ accent’s a beaut: “withdrarral” 😄
It's so surreal hearing about a case in the town where you grew up.
I know exactly which Stop and Shop and Burger King she's talking about in the phone calls, too.
Fortunately, I was in college a couple states away when this all went down, so I wonder if my mom or dad knew anyone involved in this.
That defense attorney made some pretty good arguments to be honest. How the fuck were they seen as abrasive and untrustworthy?
During the police interview, she went from sobbing with very stressful sounding g speech to calm and collected speech within 2-3 seconds. This is widely known as an indicator of deception in police interviews because human emotions do not work like that. There would be a gradual shift from emotion to emotion. Interrogators can lay out their questions in a manner to see if the suspect is genuine in their grief very easily. Only very polished liars or the truthful will know pull it off correctly.
Nope, absolutely meaningless. You don't know a person's baseline mannerisms and personality to declare it a sign of anything
Yeah it’s hard to know what someone will do how they’ll react how they’ll emote in a stressful situation. Just like there’s no such thing as a lie detector, there’s no baseline for body language or emotional reaction.
Reminds me of the teen whose mom was killed, they thought it could have been him at first bc when they told him she died, his first reaction was asking if her body was all in one piece. He was very weird and off putting in the interview. But turns out he was mildly autistic or something.
Anyways the whole “signs of deception” thing isn’t a science and there’s no body language expert that’s scientifically accurate than baseline guessing (50%). In fact the only professionals (including detectives and cops) that were better than average at spotting liars were secret service agents so… take that for what you will.
I think during the interrogation footage it's broken up, that's why it appears this way
@@Martyk1968 this instance was in real time.
@@Not_Always the way human emotions work is a Baseline. Nobody is special in regards to how fast Youmans change and motion to emotion. It's the same with crying without tears. It just doesn't happen
15:25 I love that we can hear you laugh at her saying the "chewy n-e-m-o-s" 😂
Ah, I was just checking the page for a new video about an hour ago. Thank you!
That is one angry judge. He needs to learn how to control himself better.
The judge was not playing
Guilty as sin. And i can get the judges frustration when you got 2 selfish ass people playing in the court system by falsely filing charges on each other all awhile a child is smack in the middle. I dont feel empathy with cara. I feel that cara is a narcissist.
Cause you’re a r£tard
Update from October 19 '23.
"Hampshire Superior Court Judge Francis Flannery has made the decision to sentence Rintala to no less than 12 years or no more than 14 years in prison. Rintala does get credit for the seven and a half years that she has already served in confinement. Judge Flannery called the killing “especially brutal.”
Honestly, even if you are a complete psychopath with zero empathy, the logistics and mental gymnastics & emotional masking needed to get away with murder seem far more difficult than just divorcing or legally separating.
Thanks for the video. Why was the civil judge hollering like that?? He can't get upset like that, put people off coming to court. Yes, it did sound very immature between the couple, and I'm sure it wasn't the only one like that to come before him. If such hollering was worth the case, many judges would be doing it, at many couples going through orders and marital difficulties.
Nonetheless, the death. It was said Annamarie was strangled, and I did find it a bit much Cara calling and leaving the voicemails, particularly with Brianna in the background. Eventually, Annamarie's friend Mark and ex-GF Carla were made viable suspects by the defence, both said to have lied, and yet nothing about their alibis' for the time of the murder.
Then the trials. Cara must have thought at some point, 'how many times???', and it seems strange to me to convict on voluntary manslaughter, where you had no intent but your actions were careless to result in one's death. Wasn't anything careless, or indeed reckless, about Annamarie's death, she was strangled, and it was premeditated.
But I do believe they have the right person, just the wrong verdict. Anything from 20yrs or less, i'd say she gets for time served, 6-15 yrs.
The judge is s human, any human can get upset. He raised his voice and he was very stern with them but he didn't curse at them or anything. Everybody seems to be a bit over top with the judge. We heard a short clip of those two whiners and he had to deal with a whole lot more than we did. He also might be of the persuasion that if he raises his voice while talking sternly the people might be shocked into actually behaving like adults. Also the quality of the recording made it sound like it was louder due to his proximity to the microphone versus him actually screaming. Yall never heard a parent raise their voice when your behavior was outrageous? Same tone.
