All the boomers in my family inherited a lot of money from their parents who were proud to have something to leave the family we were taught that’s what we were supposed to do. Energy one of them has blown through most of it saying things like you can’t take it with you. No regard the money they are spending has been passed down from multiple generations. They could give a flip for the generations after them it’s just unimaginable to me how they became so selfish their parents certainly weren’t that way
Well there's really no obligation for the boomers to leave anyone anything. Maybe some people expecting monetary rewards when the boomers die should have been better kids and grandkids. I see a lot of boomer parents and grandparents completely forgotten by their kids or grandkids and left to die alone.
I've been saying this for a few years. Most boomers are well off - relatively - but they are living really long lives and retirement is expensive when you get old and don't die at 70.
My mom took case of her mother, and I took care of my mom (my sisters did not) - and these kids today do not want to care for their parents! Old world Italians do not put their elderly in nursing homes!
You may not have family or friends to rely on to help you. So off to the nursing home you go. Or you are so unwell family can't care for you at home 24/7. Private care is more expensive than nursing home group care
Yeesh. Did I inadvertently click on a video from The Onion? Nothing personal, but I can't wait for this woman's children to talk about how disappointing it is that she's still alive & eating into their inheritance. Maybe they already talk that way about her. Maybe greed is one of the family treasures being passed down in this family.
Depends on the person.Due to failing health some folks simply accept their time is near and do little to prolong the inevitable. Others fight (and spend) till the end and end up with nothing to pass along.
An awful lot of their wealth. Will be sent right to pharma lobbiest. What a great system we have. Even though we already subsidize the medical industry in the first place. Classic "Double dip"
I really do believe these people can tell us anything with a straight face and sleep comfortably at night knowing when their end comes it's no longer their problem
@@CCP_OperativeThat isn't how it usually works. Normally, you would inherit what someone wants you to have. if there were other expectations with someone's estate, such as passing it on, they would have set up a trust assigning a trustee to make sure the wishes of the deceased are carried out and not leave it to chance, misunderstanding or mishandling with a "middleman" for lack of a better word. That is what we have done. We have spelled out exactly what to do with our estate if we were to have assets when we pass. We will likely have a fair amount, but we don't worry about it. To answer your question, I would do what was expected. It wasn't mine to begin with.
The kids and grandkids are struggling so much, and the elderly who have the means spend their money down helping them out. Not much left at death to leave as an inheritance.
The great wealth transfer is from the people to the medical community.

It's because their parents had harder lives and wanted easy lives for their children. Easy lives make hard times.

I can't imagine being so selfish. Dying must be pretty scary.

There is no way that woman’s husbands grandmother was a baby boomer.
Some boomers are rich, but some are also poor (Dave Ramsey callers include boomers). Generation X may also take some of it.
Why would anyone want to be imprisoned in a nursing home and use up all their money for years like that?
Do they have another choice?

Don't forget -- the US govt can spend the value out of your dollar (inflation), and they can spend like nobody. It's impressive.
It’s NOT a myth. Y’all just think we’re dumb enough to believe whatever lie let’s y’all hide that money. We’re not.

Its REAL. Middle class from 50 years ago is new poor. Poor from 5p years ago is new middle class.
Everyone, please live out as best retirement you can and don't worry about leaving an inheritance. If something is left over, terrific.
What if you inherited a large sum under the expectation it would be passed down?
