@Zylo Wolf 2.0 they're complaining cuz delay netcode is trash :p. Guilty Gear Strive has it. Guilty Gear Accent Core +R has it. Kinda the new norm buddy
Let's also not forget the fact that they've literally stated multiple times throughout the video that'll there will be more news to share! It seems like everyone that's complaining keeps skipping over that part. We are getting more announcements soon (perhaps E3?) and later this year. So try to relax people!
Oh yes. "Just wait longer guys, be patient". Been waiting since 2017 for a new game and got no gameplay. Yeah, I'll just sit under my rock and piss my diaper and wait for sega to change me. Who cares if I get an infection :). Are we just going to continue to let corporations sit there and do nothing and just act like the loser consumers they think we are?

4:34 If it looks bad, no one will be hyped. The reason we were hyped for sonic forces was that the gameplay of sunset heights was predicted to be the first level of the game, reasoning for it being basic.

@@supermariof0521 Adventure is a beloved and important game in the series IMO since it really started the modern style and carried it forward, but because of that, that and it's sequel have been looked by many as something that will be important to bring back just to have Sonic Team's attention on those series of games again and the "ability to listen again" and it truly pains me that this dilemma is passed on and enforced when there's a team that's most often than not misdirected by fans with other requests by said fans such as a debate between classic games making a return and modern fans stringing in arguments of what specific gameplay focused games should be remastered and I'm certain that the dark age was the cause of all of this uncertainty between most sonic fans, so there's reasons that people have been really harsh on the presentation this last week ago, and wouldn't call them butthurt but I would argue that many people should calm down for what we got and I'm really certain that some of these begging fans have gone so far to completely missed the memo on the livestream multiple times that there will be more announcements related to the anniversary AND game content.
6:09 is the exact problem I have with this fanbase, no reflection, no hidsight. People spend all their time defending Sonic Team's decisions BEFORE a game releases. Then when the game doesn't live up, instead of using hindsight and maybe questioning them when they make the same mistakes, people just go back and defend Sonic Team again. 4 years for Forces proved Sonic Team has been incompetent for years. So what's the solution? We need more competent devs? No. We need 5 years for Rangers, and if you disagree with the wait you're just a hater/negative and "want another Forces/06". Maybe I just realize that no amount of time can fix this incompetency? All I'm saying is I seiously HOPE they've got new/good blood working on Rangers, because more time at this point shouldn't give ANYONE confidence when I KNOW all of your favourite Sonic games were made in 1-3 years MAX, unless its Forces. If Rangers is good then you could try and argue that the ends justify the means. Bad marketing/PR can be saved by a great game. I applaud them for transparency on the 2022 date, and porting things is always a good thing (shady EGS deal aside), but as it stands I'm allowed and in my right to NOT be hype for CGI.
Are you speaking generally or about Matt in particular here? I don't think Matt uses that logic for development time, as per the time stamp. Also, do you think he was tossing a bit of shade at you in this video?
I agree with a lot that you are saying and I believe that people should be blaming Sonic Team more than defending them. This video is mainly targeted towards people who keep wanting them to be more transparent while proceeding to be upset when they are. I believe that they did their job at being transparent and gave us what we asked for. I just believe that the game taking longer isn't the issue, it's okay if games take a long time just as long as it's good. Yes a lot of my favorite Sonic games were made in 1 - 3 years but even games like Sonic Generations while being awesome, is very short. Extra time can make good and longer games. The issue as to why Sonic games suck even after taking 4 years is simply because Sonic Team and Sega suck at making Sonic games. I stated this in the time stamp that you gave. The time it takes to make a game wouldn't be an issue that people complain about if the games were actually good. So as I say in the video, if the game is still bad, it's because Sonic Team can't develop games right which is ironic because they made Sonic The Hedgehog. Also, your content is awesome and I didn't expect to see you in my comments.
@@Matthasnocuts Also, some people might think the entire discussion is about development time and/or poor management only. One of my biggest concerns about Sonic games is simply... budget. You can have brilliant ideas and lots of time (which in itself costs money), but these games still need the proper budget to bring these ideas to fruition-- to the best possible quality/polish.
Honestly i think fans reactions are justified we spent 3 and a half years with no news at all and when they finally show a trailer they don't show us gameplay, show us what the game is about, or even the title of the game i didn't hate the tralier but after waiting so long i think we deserve to see a little more.
Tbh I don’t really care about all this complaining or whatever, I’m just hyped for sonic colors and the new sonic game, if you’re upset then you’re upset. All the people that are satisfied/happy about sonic central, good on you👍
Sonic fans before Sonic Central: "I just want them to make a TWEET, man. I'd be fine with just a shadowdrop on Twitter 😢" Sonic fans after Sonic Central: "Why didn't they show anything 🤬🤬🤬"
In my opinion, it's trust. After Sonic Forces blew hard, I believe people's trust was crushed a LOT. Also, with the Nintendo example, it's kind of night and day. Though yeah, the Colours port is better pricing than Nintendo as a whole.
I think the main issue is that people were already spoiled the big reveals of the event: Colors Ultimate and the collection (Origins). So despite not being officially announced, they subconciously expected Sega to be even more open to reveal more of its projects. We did get that overall, so I'm not speaking for myself, but some of the stuff they revealed aside form the big reveals was kinda random and while those have their base, people were, again, expecting more than the stuff they announced. It didn't help that the teaser at the end was just that, and many have lost their faith in Sonic Team to produce good games (completely understandable) so a lack of showcase of gameplay was just another nail in the coffin of "expectations betrayed" that they had unconciously made for themselves.
I think sonic central was phenomenal! Only thing I would've liked was the 2022 game gameplay but I don't care at all. I'm extremely grateful that something got announced! 1:46 also, this is original gameplay. It will be wide-screen
I'm fine with the presentation itself, but the teaser for Rangers was underwhelming. Teasers for previous games like Unleashed, Colors, Generations and even Forces did a good job at communicating the game's premise and what I should expect from it. But what should I expect from Rangers based on that teaser? The game has Sonic in it and he runs fast? I don't see anything for me to get excited about, so I'll just wait with incredibly low expectations (it is Sega after all) and hope that the game proves me wrong and delivers when it comes out. Maybe if Sega was a trustworthy company, I would be excited even with a half-assed 30 second teaser like that one, but their history of being misleading and the fact that almost everytime they're too secretive about a new Sonic game it ends up being terrible makes me assume the worst. Hell, I don't even trust that the S3&K in the Sonic Origins collection will be a Retro Engine remaster like the previous two, it wouldn't be surprising to me if they just took the exact same game from 1994 and stretched it in order to look widescreen.
I thought that the sonic central event was fine. It gave us some stuff to talk about finally. I wanted a teaser about the new sonic game, a classic collection to get curious about, my encyclospeedia(which is vital for me), a small update for sonic prime, and a decent little upcoming animation for sonic. I had my expectations set pretty low, so I'm good. As someone who has been through the trenches of the sonic fanbase, since the early 2000's. I personally wouldn't recommend focusing on sonic fans that complain no matter what. You'll only get more and more frustrated, without getting a logical answer. That side of the sonic fanbase, has been this way for the longest. You can make whatever video discussing any kind of topic you want of course. I'm just saying that I personally wouldn't waste my time on those people. At the end of the day? If the're certain sonic fans complaining about something, and you can't understand why? then oh well. Let them be disappointed. You can't make them be positive, since they can be extremely stubborn. Trust me, it's like talking to a brick wall to people like that. It doesn't matter how logical your arguments are. To them? you're just a blind fanboy. Even when that's not even the case. Just some advice from an old sonic fan.
Just finished, and great vid. I have a lot of the same thoughts on the franchise as you and it feels like you keep saying what I think in better words. You’re the future of SonicTube, and I love that.
Love you Matt, but I have to disagree. I was definitely let down by the announcements. A remaster of an (arguably) mid-tier Sonic game that doesn’t even have a proper PC release, the 10,000th ports of the classic games, and an incredibly vague trailer with no gameplay or even a title is definitely something that can be disappointing. The last one, in particular, isn’t very transparent. And Sonic Team has given us every single reason to be skeptical. Yeah, the Colors remaster is still better than Skyward Sword, but I would’ve rather had literally any other Sonic game be ported. (And yes, I just replayed the Wii game two days ago, and my opinion hasn’t changed.) I’m glad you’re happy with what we got, but me personally? I’m worried for the future.
Exactly. I don't like colors (or any of the boost games) I already own 3 sets of classic sonic games (probably 4 if I can find my old PC disks) I don't buy merch, I don't play an of those games sonic's model was forced into (modders can do that for free anyway) and I have no reason to be excited for new sonic games based on vague trailers of him running in a forest, none of the last main series games in almost 20 years have been worth it for me.
llike i stated its fine to be disappointed by what was revealed but people who are acting like this is going to ruin the Sonic franchise, or acting like sega gave us nothing when literally we've been wanting transparency is just bad. Like no lol, you just aren't interested. Doesn't mean everythings ruined.
SilverSpireZ Plays I legitimately could not agree more with your comment... The thing Matt doesn't seem to grasp is the fact that Sonic Team had 3 years to develop this new mainline game, assuming it started development post-Forces. Its 2021 and absolutely ZERO gameplay footage was shown of the game. The lack of such footage tells us that either SEGA are embarrassed that this game may suck, or they are being incredibly stingy by withholding info about the new game... And as for the Colors remaster, the lighting somehow looks worse than it did on the Wii! Like they cranked up the bloom settings to a ludicrous degree...
They weren't even remotely transparent. They gave another pointless CGI trailer that said nothing and had no gameplay. That's really bad marketing. They don't have the benefit of the doubt anymore after Forces.
And this is why we never get good Sonic games. We have idiotic fanbase who takes mediocrity over quality, and then we have the other side who don't know what they want. Sonic fanbase = Pokemon fanbase.
Twip and Premydaremy are the ONLY sonic ytubers who tell it how it is. Sonic is a video franchise that could FIRST AND FOREMOST. We need to be more critical with Sonic games and call out the BS Sonic Team keeps bringing out.
@@mizzix I'm criticizing how they're revealing said game. A 30 second teaser of that Sonic 2022, was WORSE than Sonic Forces ' teaser. At least that told us something about the general consensus of the game.
@@hchozn I lost so many braincells reading all the "Defense Squad" comments in this video's comments section... It's almost as if the fans want Sonic games to be mediocre garbage.
Gang Gang Absolutely, I don't believe Colors Ultimate selling extremely well will incentivise Sega to release Sonic Unleashed on PC at all, cuz Unleashed and Colors are polar opposites in terms of gameplay and story.
People dont want any Dark Age game, Colors, All Stars Racing Transformed and Generations are the more successful and thought highly upon by people so SEGA is doing these first because they want a good image after the mess of Forces, they will go back to the Dark Age and prior but again, much of the Meta Era is what people would want and is a good choice.
My BF refused to watch it cause he assumed it would be too cringe. So he wanted me to just summarize. And then he finds out 3&K comes back, which he's wanted for years, from me in the car. And then he wishes he had watched it. Also I hope they don't take out MJs music like in some versions.
@@bucketbutters866 yeah intellectually I've accepted that but I guess I'm just mad that Sega is so incompetent that they haven't sorted this out in nearly three decades - one of which MJ was dead for. A man worked on your game. He was taken out for PR reasons. He was found not guilty later, but even ignoring that, no one is gonna blame Sega. Give his estate rights to release his vocal demos or maybe a percent of profit, donate some proceeds to a children's charity if you still believe those allegations, and move on. Asking us all to illegally mod the music in is just giving the issue more attention, and because of what? They can't bare to see a single penny or piece of credit go anywhere that isn't their own perfectly spotless, mom approved company for kids? It's just exhausting 😭
The people who are complaining let me tell you something: don't you ever appreciate how much sega does they did more than we expected so be thankful and satisfied
Did more than we expected? this waste of time WAS what I expected. I am not satisfied with diminishing returns and shit I have 0 interest in (don't like colors, don't do merch, no indication for how the new game plays, I already own multiple iterations of the classics etc.) No, I decline your request.
I'm surprised I don't see alot more people satisfied that they finally announced a new game considering alot of people were asking for any form of announcement
Sonic central wasnt "pretty good" it was just fine, everything they showed was stuff we were already aware of or suspected, or frankly just didnt care about. The sonic community has lost alot of faith in sonic team, they've showed us they haven't really grown or have done anything to show for 10 years now, their more invested in memes and self deprecating meta "humor" as of late. Hopefully the rumors are true and real change is coming but central didnt show that and people criticizing the mediocrity isnt being ungrateful,"better then nothing" isnt a good mindset nor is just accepting whatever sega throws at us
It's called "extreme morality" if someone doesn't immediately get hyped about something folks will immediately assume the worst in them (e.g: I've already seen folks already dismiss anyone who wasn't excited about Sonic Central as "toxic", "entitled" or just telling them to leave the franchise). And ofc complaining about folks complaining will solve nothing lol! (ofc it works both ways. Since I've seen folks getting called "shills" or "boot-lickers" for actually enjoying the Sonic Central). It's common knowledge that this fandom is (hopeless) divided beyond repair and Sega have indeed been complicit in the division even encouraging it at times with "classic" and "modern" Sonic. In the end until Sega realizes it's a fools errand to try to please everyone, this franchise (the mainline games) will never move forward and evolve imo. Sorry if my reply sounded like a rant, I actually thought the SC was just fine too.
@@lynxfresh5214 no need to apologize, your completely right, free free to rant, god knows so many sonic fans want to. Too many sonic fans and channels like this are so content to just well behavior like sycophants and get angry with fans who criticize what the company has bin doing, or rather not doing. Everytime sega throws slop at us fans like this expect us to just mindlessly eat it up because " its better then nothing " and im so tired of such a defeatist attitude, an attitude that doesn't help breed a better forward and instead just promotes more complacency. This teaser for the 2022 game was a bit of a highlight but not by much, it left us mostly concerned and worried then excited because it could be more of the same that we've bin getting for 10 years now . Say what you will about 06 but at least sega was trying back then.
The people that are complaining are mostly Adventure fans. At least as far as I can see. They're angry for not getting Adventure 3 and they're looking for anything to pour their frustration out. It's the same thing that happened with the OG fans when Sonic got green eyes.
@@Hynotama Can you blame them? They haven't gotten anything from the adventure games for like the past decade. They probably salty another boost game is getting a modern remake.
I get your point, but for me personally (and maybe this is what others are feeling too) I feel like we didn't get enough substantial new info for what we were looking for. Like we got Sonic Colors Ultimate and Origins which had been leaked for so long they were basically all but confirmed at that point, then with Sonic Prime we got no new info and the guy essentially said exactly the Twitter post about what the show is about so no teaser or anything for that, then for the newest game we get a very vague cgi only trailer with no title and a release year (which is exactly what happened with Forces which has me worried, especially based on that leak in January because if that's real, the game hasn't been developed since 2017, meaning they just recently started and its supposed to be a new style they never tried with a character that makes open worlds even harder to make). Other than that we just merch announced which is a lot of stuff we already knew about and a lot of those don't have release dates either. Like I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of the Encyclo-speedia without a release date, hoping to find out its release date in the presentation, and still no release date. So that's why I think a lot of people found it underwhelming, because it was a lot of stuff we already knew, and for the stuff we didn't know there's either no release date, or just very little info to go off of to get excited about if that makes sense
The idea of Sonic Central is genius. I think the main reason why is that project 2022 only had a CGI trailer, people wanted to show gameplay. But Sega shouldn't leave us in the dark for about a whole year.(2020)
Fans still love sonic though after how forces turn out i don't blame them for trouble trusting sega this time and of course if they express their opinion about being skeptical there gonna get bash for it
@@jdawson7877 please go read certain comments again and you'll better understand what they're saying. I suggest reading Finnland 278's comment first and then the two right after him. You'll get a better grasp of what we're trying to say.
This aint' it chief. Coming from someone who actually did enjoy the Central quite a bit, it shouldn't be any surprise in the slightest the people were disappointed with it. My expectations were basically right on the money, so I came out pleasantly surprised with how Colors Ultimate is turning out, Rise of the Wisps and Origins including the first rerelease of 3&K in 17 years. But it's no secret that what 90% of people were excited for was the new game, and despite it being complete convention at this point, a 30-second teaser that gives even less information than Forces'was not very impressive. Combine that with Colors Ultimate giving a bad first impression through the trailer not only turning the Bloom up to 11, but also basically not spouting a word about any of its new content, and Origins not even coming out until next weekend, while also giving a bad first impression through the misleading three Knuckles footage leading people to believe that it would be in 4:3 The fact that fans had to actively search for the good in this presentation, even needing to sift through leaks to find out what the new game MIGHT be proves that Sonic team is not being transparent in slightest year. They basically went from. "We're working on a game that will eventually come out" To "We're working on a game that will eventually come out, also here's Sonic Colors what you guys already knew about due to leaks, and we're going to be incredibly vague with its marketing" It shouldn't be a shock at all
Well the presentation should have been a little bit more polished and clear with how it presented the games but overall, everything they announced was great. Also they gave us a general time of when to expect the next game which means that we can be expecting a trailer soon. I would say that's being pretty transparent. If you want them to drop a trailer, that would mean that the game is closer to release. I would much rather have them work on the game and take the time it needs to make it good than make it come out this year or beginning of next year.
@@Matthasnocuts The issue is that Sonic Team can't be trusted with time at this point. the reason people keep bringing up that we waited 4 years for Forces isn't to say that longer weights = worst games or anything of the sort, it's to say that longer waits *DO NOT ENSURE* a better game. Sonic Team could take a decade to make the next game, but if they don't know how to properly manage it, it would still come out bad, and they haven't proven that they do know how. People aren't saying to rush the game out ASAP, they want information on the game because the amount of time allotted means basically nothing in the context of Sonic team. Keep in mind that Sonic Unleashed was made in 2 Years total while Forces was developed in 3 (they basically skipped 2014 before having two years of planning and one year of actual dev, which is a beyond incompetent strategy.) People just want any kind of security right now, and while the Sonic Central acted as a good first step into (hopefully) a stream of Sonic news, it's understandable for many fans to feel spiteful that we have to take baby steps after already waiting 3½ years.
I don't wanna sound rude but i'm tired of people complaining. I loved it! I was expecting something and I got something. I wasn't expecting everything. Actually I got more than I thought I would. After all these years its so great to have them talk to us and show us some stuff. I know Sonic Rangers didn't have much but it got me excited anyways to see it official.

@@josepha4161 and I don’t know why people think they hated it but they never do so do kids they never hated sonic colors they are good fan that never complains. From other worlds.
I'm not mad about Sonic Central, but I can understand people being mad about the new Sonic game teaser trailer. Because it showed next to nothing. We have a year that it'll come out and that's it. And maybe it's just me but I find it hard to be hyped about something that I know nothing about. I think it would've been nice to learn even just a bit more about the game since we've been waiting so long at this point. Also you claim that SEGA is being 'transparent' with the new Sonic game and I can't help but disagree. While they are definitely being more transparent with us then they have been for the past while, the trailer showed next to nothing! Sonic ran in a forest and boosted, then ran in a circle before it faded to black and said 2022... (Also I know you said well they're letting us know that the game is being worked on but they've already previously mentioned that) Anyway like I said, I'm not mad at all about Sonic Central as a whole. They showed a decent amount of stuff and I was happy with it! Also I'm excited for the new show, movie AND game in 2022!!(And It's a big shame that Colours Ultimate was leaked as that would've been a pretty hype reveal!)
@@noahrobbins2095 he shouldnt have used the word transparent. What he should've said is being less silent. Showing us next to nothing isnt transparency. Saying "oh we're working on a game" is self evident. The only "transparency" (if you're really brave enough to call it that) is showing a release date. Again, that was something we had previously suspected. Kinda disingenuous to call it being transparent. Also, "showed what they're ready to show"? They've been working on the game for 3 and a half years and have literally nothing but a meh CGI trailer? Not exactly excited for the 2022 release date then
Dude, I guarantee you that if they showed any kind of game footage, (which I presume the game to be in a early stage of dev.) People would have picked it apart and found a way to be overly negative and bitch about it to hell and back. (Sound familiar?) They didn't show anything, because they didn't have anything to show. (At least, nothing that wouldn't cause a cascade of negativity to come down on them.)
@@Beans-do6wc I was only using the word transparent because that was the way he phrased it in the video. I agree I should’ve just used another word though
Well the general consensus of the community was that people just wanted to know something about the game and at least know if it's being worked on. They did just that. We all know that they are going to show gameplay anywhere from now to 2022 so they gave us a pretty good idea of when to expect more news. If you want them to drop a whole trailer, that will most likely only happen when they are almost ready to release the game. Right now it's clear that they are not ready and they let us know that they aren't ready and even gave us a time when to expect the game.
Maybe there's a reason for this frustration, 4 years after Sonic Forces and they only show a CGI teaser, a weird Simbol, the year of release and a new Sonic flat shoe, fans were expecting something more concrete I guess.
The reason why people are mad is because they have been working on the new game since 2019 and they said they wanted to show us something in 2020 but due to reasons it couldn't but when they did in sonic central all we got was a 30 second long CGI teaser and no gameplay
I actually liked Sonic Central because Sega is finally giving us something. Sonic fans wanted news and that's exactly what they gave us. They don't appreciate it and I don't know why.
inb4 "DEFENSE SQUAD" "Patience Defense Squad" "Junior Ranger" comments, because you know a lot of salty fans are probably thinking that just by title alone lol. This will probably get hit hard by thumbs down, but I gave you a thumbs up. I'm wishing you the best of luck on your path to 10k subs. : )
Joseph A Yeah I completely agree with you, this entire video felt like Matt was trying to knock Premy down a peg, which made it really hard for me to sit through. He needs to understand though that the vocal minority is always going to be skeptical if Sega have nothing worthy to show for teasers of their mainline Sonic game.
@@dylansurendranath3091 Yeah, like I said, I can understand where both of them are coming from. I guess it's also important to note that just because a fan desires transparency and news, it doesn't mean that person can't criticize what is shown off, too.
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Also this video is not meant to send hate towards Prem or any other Sonictubers who disagree on the topic, I'm perfectly fine with them disagreeing. Also I love Prem's content and I would never throw shade like that.
@@Matthasnocuts No worries, dude. I figured it was a general message, but I guess my mind just connected the dots to Prem since he's the most notable Sonictuber that brought up the "I just want news/transparency" message. (And maybe he brought up the LoZ comparison?) Keep up the great work. :)
It's easy for you to say "not to complain" when you got something you really like (Sonic Colors Ultimate) announced. But for people like me who aren't fans of Colors or any of the cross promotional material that was revealed there wasn't anything for us. It's all a matter of perspective and people like me felt left out.
I don’t think you get it. Fans have been burned so many times for years. People are upset because they’re speculating that the game is going to be *Bad.* The absolute lack of information except a freaking 15 second Pre-rendered CG video after 4 years of silence is kind of astounding. When the leaks provide more insight than the official company, you can see why people are upset. It’s not hard to understand. Especially when the leaks don’t exactly invoke confidence that the game is going to be good. Like you alluded to in this video, current Sonic Team still sucks at making games. It’s the same people that made Forces. They didn’t change.
Btw, sonic team took 3 years developing hedgehog engine 2 not the actual game, they spent 1 year developing the game itself, however sonic team is taking 4 years to develop the next sonic game with some improvements to hedgehog engine 2 of course
The problem is that Sega wanted us to focus of Colors Ultimate instead of Rangers. However Rangers attracted more attention even with that small teaser. Colors Ultimate is the main dish for this year.
Here are your arguments: 1. They're being transparent. Uhhh really. All they said is that the new game exists and it's coming in 2022. No gameplay. (I'm focusing on the new game announcement because that's what everybody else is focusing on). Bad argument. Not to mention this is a straw man. Most people aren't worried about transparency because they're worried about the lack of gameplay and confidence after 3.5 years. So you lost to a strawman. 2. People: If they show good gameplay they will regain my trust. You: Even if they show bad gameplay you're still gonna be hyped. People: I'm 21 You: No you're 23 complete stranger. People: No true Scottsman fallacy. Me: I think an argument just exploded. 3. Be patient (after 3.5 years) Wow another explosion. That was to easy. 4. More dev time means longer and BETTER (as in good or bad, quality) game. People: What about sonic forces You: That's because how bad the devs are. The quality of sonic forces doesn't debunk my argument. People: Didn't you say bigger and BETTER. Me: Also sonic forces was pretty short. Wow more explosions. Hey wait that's all your arguments. All of your arguments exploded. And the rest of the video is buy things, buy things, buy things. So in conclusion I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING THING NEW HERE. ALL OF THESE AGRUMENTS AGAINST YOU ARE IN THE VIDEOS THAT YOU'RE COMPLAINING ABOUT. DID WATCH ANY OF THE VIDEOS.
Im personally both happy with Sonic Central and what we got, but if I may, I would like to define transparency. It comes down to the Sonic 2022 trailer. When SEGA announced "Project Sonic 2017" (now Sonic Forces) they used a CGI-only trailer that didn't reflect the quality of the final product, a final product that turned out to be a bit of a dumpster fire. It was a Hype Gimmick so to speak, border-lining false advertising. With the Sonic 2022 trailer, people are concerned that SEGA's trying to get us excited over a bad 'bag of goods' and with Sonic Team's reputation from Sonic Lost World and Sonic Forces, who can blame the fans for concern? Reasserting what I said at the beginning though, I was happy with what we got. For a game coming out (most likely around) holiday 2022, a teaser is more than enough. Any more and fans would be too excited to handle the wait.
I think most fans who are "Complaining" are adventure fans and fans of the 2000s Sonic games, because there was literally nothing for them, and they've have been neglected for almost 10 years now. Can you people honest to god blame them...?
I really loved Sonic Central and thought the Event was Great. Honestly it was nice to hear sonic News again after 4 yrs really. You can’t please everyone even in my opinion we got the news we needed🤦🏿♂️
My only concern for Rangers is that other characters will be sidelined for the Wisps. Again. Call it complaining if you want, but seriously, what's of having these other characters if you aren't even going to make them playable. Its been 15 years and counting since the likes of Amy, Knux and Miles were playable in a mainline 3D title, so I'd say they're long overdue a chance to comeback and not be stuck sitting on the side twiddling their thumbs as the only characters we've had have been Sonic and... well Sonic.
That's what I've been hoping for this whole time: more playable characters in both 2D and 3D Sonic games, and both male and female character representation.
@@travis9831 right, and while I'm not saying Rangers should be like Boom but despite all the problems that game had, it still featured a playable Tails, Knuckles and Amy in 3D for the first time since 06. So if Boom can manage it, then there's really no excuses for their absence in Rangers.
Lol! How TF do YOU know that they will be lifelines with wisps. Again. How about be patient and stop complaining. We have nothing but these teasers. We've heard nothing on sonic rangers ever since. So stop making this bold assumption!
0:57 matt there's 2 things you must know about the sonic community 1. Some sonic fans just complain too much about everysingle. 2. You can never satisfy the sonic fandom. That's the way i see it.
Junior Ranger moment lol. This Sonic Central literally announced nothing worthwhile. It showed us Colors Ultimate which was already confirmed (also showed how terrible the bloom looks), it showed a classic collection (already confirmed) of which the only notable thing is 3 and Knuckles, and showed a 5 sec cgi trailer for the new game which literally told us nothing. We had to datamine the trailer and get leaks from playtesters to get any actual information about the new game. Bootlick Sega and Sonic Team harder Junior Rangers. How insulting to people's intelligences to tell them not to be upset with a lackluster Central.
The Central stream was fine. My main issues are that we're getting a (seemingly?) underwhelming Sonic collection and all we got was a teaser for the 2022 game, if we didn't have all those Rangers leaks, we'd be screwed. But overall, it was a decent stream, a good 6 or 7 out of 10 from me. It was refreshing finally getting news, hopefully we'll see more at E3.
Although, I understand why someone would be disappointed with it. A Colors remaster, a Classic collection, a vague teaser, a bunch of game tie ins that not everyone cares about, and tons of merch isn't that exciting for everyone. I don't like painting these people as entitled, haters, or just basic whiny fans, its okay to be disappointed by something from a big company you aren't supposed to have any attachment to.
I like your approach. I think I can definitely say that in the Sonic Community there really is no way to please all the fans. One thing I would like to bring up is that I heard complaints that the teaser didn't really show us much of anything. 1. Uh DUUH it's a f****** teaser. 2. You know what other Sonic game teaser showed the same amount of information?? Sonic Unleashed. The one where the werehog smashes the ring. That game went on to be my favorite Sonic game. This next game might not be as good or it might be better, but I think we should be a little more grateful since at the end of the day, something is better than nothing.
Sonic fans complaining about Sonic Central is a clear sign of why everyone has mocked the fan base for so long. We didn't get news or anything for so long and then we get this and we have content expected for the next year or two and people complain. SMH
The problem is that it's not being completely transparent. Transparent would at least let us see what this Sonic rangers thing is. They pull the Sonic forces and just showed us a CG trailer that tells us nothing. I don't care that it's early in development I don't think most others do either. Pull a Pokemon legend Arceus and show early footage so we know what they've been doing/ know what we're working with and know if they've learned from their mistakes from forces! Other than team Sonic racing we've got nothing for the past 4 years! And for people who don't care about merchandise and can't afford these expensive necklaces, or for the people who never liked Sonic colours which quite a lot of people do not like. Everyone on PC can easily plays Sonic 1 CD 2 and 3 Those people really got nothing.
yet another reason why i like this channel you offer some genuine criticism to the franchise, while being fair, unbiased and giving good reasons for why you have your opinions, defending it in places where you don't believe their hard work deserve to be attacked
I agree, im satisfied with what they offered, Im more than satisfied. I feel sonic team planned out everything right. They gave us a port for later. Finally were getting sonic 3 and knuckles (thank the lord) and Sonic Rangers in 2022. They've already said there's more to come. I apperciate izuka he did great presenting the new sonic game in English i really was shocked
Tbh I think it's the first time that Sega openly acknowledged the werehog in an official licensed medium since that call back reference in the IDW comics last year.
@@bucketbutters866 Yeah but unlike IDW, Runners has been dead for years now and I heard the "sequel" was awful. Albeit I believe some fans are working on reviving Runners. Say what you will about the Sonic fandom but their commitment to the franchise is legit (we wouldn't even have Mania without the fandom).
How can many sonic fans complain that there's nothing about sonic, and then when they get something they start complaining again. Wtf man, I'm grateful that Sega even gave us something
I agree with what you're saying but I think people are complaining because a lot of the stuff is sonic colors and a majority wanted unleashed I'm not to sure about that
Sonic Central was... "Fine". Definitely not something to be all like "Did you see Sonic Central?". But it was a great sneak peek for future Sonic games to come, also I would not mind seeing more of these kind of events.
I disagree. People can be disappointed in Sonic Central, I know I was. It felt like they only wanted to do things for Colors and Classic fans, which I am neither, so I only really got the new CG trailer. I think the problem is the divide in Sonic fans, not people complaining about Sonic Central
People have every right to like or dislike things. To say, "stop complaining" entitled to me. I mean people can also say "stop being excited" and I would say that's wrong too. We all have our reasons of liking and disliking stuff.

FACTS! I've seen so many people complain that Sonic Adventure 3 or Sonic Adventure remakes weren't announced.
@@franktheluigifan5523 Those people think that Adventure remakes are the ONLY thing that will make Sonic good again.

One of my biggest concerns about Sonic games is simply... budget. Well when they show Colors Ultimate I wasn’t complaining about it I think they looked cool but some people are just like that.

Gonna have to really disagree with this comment
I agree honestly. I'm worried for the future of Sonic... there are good things coming out, but there is definitely a lot to be desired.
@RICARDO LABOY It's still bad the Generations one at least revealed something about the game. That being classic Sonic.
Don't ask questions just consume product and then get excited for next products
And this is why we never get good Sonic games. We have idiotic fanbase who takes mediocrity over quality, and then we have the other side who don't know what they want. Sonic fanbase = Pokemon fanbase.
Twip and Premydaremy are the ONLY sonic ytubers who tell it how it is. Sonic is a video franchise that could FIRST AND FOREMOST. We need to be more critical with Sonic games and call out the BS Sonic Team keeps bringing out.

Matt woke up and decided to spit facts
I completly agree! Can't wait for Sonic Colors Ultimate, casue' one of my favourite Sonic Games is looking awesome with these remastered graphics!

Combine that with Colors Ultimate giving a bad first impression through the trailer not only turning the Bloom up to 11, but also basically not spouting a word about any of its new content, and Origins not even coming out until next weekend, while also giving a bad first impression through the misleading three Knuckles footage leading people to believe that it would be in 4:3
The fact that fans had to actively search for the good in this presentation, even needing to sift through leaks to find out what the new game MIGHT be proves that Sonic team is not being transparent in slightest year. They basically went from.
"We're working on a game that will eventually come out"
To
"We're working on a game that will eventually come out, also here's Sonic Colors what you guys already knew about due to leaks, and we're going to be incredibly vague with its marketing"
It shouldn't be a shock at all
Well the presentation should have been a little bit more polished and clear with how it presented the games but overall, everything they announced was great.
Keep in mind that Sonic Unleashed was made in 2 Years total while Forces was developed in 3 (they basically skipped 2014 before having two years of planning and one year of actual dev, which is a beyond incompetent strategy.)
People just want any kind of security right now, and while the Sonic Central acted as a good first step into (hopefully) a stream of Sonic news, it's understandable for many fans to feel spiteful that we have to take baby steps after already waiting 3½ years.

Congrats on 8k man. You inspire me to make a sonic channel. Would be hilarious. To the moon Matt!
I agree Sonic fans will literally never be happy, the presentation was sooooo goood!!!!
(Also I know you said well they're letting us know that the game is being worked on but they've already previously mentioned that)
Anyway like I said, I'm not mad at all about Sonic Central as a whole. They showed a decent amount of stuff and I was happy with it! Also I'm excited for the new show, movie AND game in 2022!!(And It's a big shame that Colours Ultimate was leaked as that would've been a pretty hype reveal!)
You just said that they are being more transparent, but not transparent enough? Because they only showed what they are ready to show??
@@noahrobbins2095 he shouldnt have used the word transparent. What he should've said is being less silent. Showing us next to nothing isnt transparency. Saying "oh we're working on a game" is self evident. The only "transparency" (if you're really brave enough to call it that) is showing a release date. Again, that was something we had previously suspected. Kinda disingenuous to call it being transparent. Also, "showed what they're ready to show"? They've been working on the game for 3 and a half years and have literally nothing but a meh CGI trailer? Not exactly excited for the 2022 release date then
Dude, I guarantee you that if they showed any kind of game footage, (which I presume the game to be in a early stage of dev.)
People would have picked it apart and found a way to be overly negative and bitch about it to hell and back.
(Sound familiar?)
They didn't show anything, because they didn't have anything to show.
Exactly
6:52 no... don’t do that, don’t give me hope. Great video, I’m very surprised how many people are disappointed with what we got in Sonic Central

The reason why people are mad is because they have been working on the new game since 2019 and they said they wanted to show us something in 2020 but due to reasons it couldn't but when they did in sonic central all we got was a 30 second long CGI teaser and no gameplay
Yeah, but alot of them said a tweet would be fine.
I actually liked Sonic Central because Sega is finally giving us something. Sonic fans wanted news and that's exactly what they gave us. They don't appreciate it and I don't know why.
Sonic Fans: Can we please have this?
Sonic Team: Okay.

inb4 "DEFENSE SQUAD" "Patience Defense Squad" "Junior Ranger" comments, because you know a lot of salty fans are probably thinking that just by title alone lol. This video lowkey feels like it's tossing shade at Premydaremy and some of the vocal minority in his fanbase. You both bring up great points though, and you both put out quality content.
They made Forces in less than 2 years. The first 2 years was nothing but working on the new game engine
"the sonic colors remaster is 20 dollars cheaper and as more convenient, it embarrasses zelda" oh... Oh no
This guy.......this guy gets it
The problem is that Sega wanted us to focus of Colors Ultimate instead of Rangers. However Rangers attracted more attention even with that small teaser.
Colors Ultimate is the main dish for this year.
Here are your arguments:
People: I'm 21
You: No you're 23 complete stranger.
People: No true Scottsman fallacy.
Me: I think an argument just exploded.
3. Be patient (after 3.5 years)
Wow another explosion. That was to easy.
4. More dev time means longer and BETTER (as in good or bad, quality) game.
People: What about sonic forces
You: That's because how bad the devs are.
Nintendo said botw wasn't ready, the end. And everyone praised them, but when sonic does it it's wrong? Alright m8
@@mizzix What Aboutism is not that great of an argument. I didn't mention Zelda did I.
HEY! You completely forgot that Blind Squirrel also did Bioshock Collection and Mass Effect Legendary Edition! Sonic Colors Ultimate is in great hands
I think most fans who are "Complaining" are adventure fans and fans of the 2000s Sonic games, because there was literally nothing for them, and they've have been neglected for almost 10 years now. Can you people honest to god blame them...?
I don't blame them at all
I really loved Sonic Central and thought the Event was Great.

0:57 matt there's 2 things you must know about the sonic community
What a terrible video.
I just wish they showed some gameplay
Edit: Sonic Forces also only had a cgi trailer and...well it was Sonic Forces
Unleashed, Gens, Secret rings and others also only had CGI.
Great video, and I totally agree, but next time just tag premydaremy in the video lol
Sonic fans complaining about Sonic Central is a clear sign of why everyone has mocked the fan base for so long. We didn't get news or anything for so long and then we get this and we have content expected for the next year or two and people complain. SMH
Sega could announce Adventure remakes coming out the very same day and people would still complain.
read the thumbnail as " stop complaining about sonic *cereal.* "

I agree, im satisfied with what they offered, Im more than satisfied. I feel sonic team planned out everything right. They gave us a port for later. Finally were getting sonic 3 and knuckles (thank the lord) and Sonic Rangers in 2022. They've already said there's more to come. YOOOOOOOOOOOO WE GET AN AMIIBO?!?!?!!?!?!
I liked the presentation with what they announced, it just felt like we got very little information on the different projects.
People have every right to like or dislike things. To say, "stop complaining" entitled to me. I mean people can also say "stop being excited" and I would say that's wrong too. We all have our reasons of liking and disliking stuff.
