[SOLVED] Loose Flash on Canon R6
If you aren't experienced at taking apart electronics, then just send it in, seriously. Dropping a screw in the wrong place, tapping the screwdriver in the wrong spot, getting a static shock around the circuit board are all little things that can ruin your day if you aren't careful... that said:
Today I repair a Camera that has loose screws under the flash mount / hot shoe. The screws are located INSIDE the camera, but not too deep...
I was able to do it with a small screwdriver and a plastic pry tool. It took about 20 minutes but does require a Steady Hand and PATIENCE.

Wow, congrats on the repair, that is not easy and it's pretty scary opening up the entire camera to fix that.

This was the best video to repair your hot shoe. The one part which a closer zoom would have been removing the viewfinder ribbon. But the pace and clarity was spot on!

Thanks! I know exactly what u mean I always wish there a closeup camera when I need one, but it's always a tradeoff between trying to film it better or to just get the project done quicker. My friend who owns this camera had a wedding to do the next day so filming this was an afterthought actually!

Awesome tute and many thanks for that. I put my gear through the wringer so I wanted to get a preview of this before pulling the trigger on switching systems. It's obviously doable, but they have GOT to be sh*tting us - this went from a 10-second adjustment on the 5D series to major freaking surgery. Unbelievable, goddamnit Canon. If I wind up needing to do this, there will be blue Loctite on hand for sure. Anyway, apologies for the mini-rant. Thanks again for the run-through.

Hey I get it! By the way, I was using this exact R6 yesterday, the owner came by to show me the rubber I had removed was starting to come loose on the right-thumb right where I had peeled it back. So I put a tiny smear of e-6000 and taped it for a day. Seems like once you break that initial glue bond it isn't quite as tacky anymore. Just fyi...

@@Live-DIY Lol ngl, the second you said it was still tacky, I said out loud "Yeah, that won't matter." Once you disrupt the integrity of that adhesive, it needs to be re-glued.

Hello! thank you very much for this video! Could you tell me what type and size of screws the camera has? So I know what kit to buy! Thanks again!

Everything was philips head. I use a cheapo harbor freight kit with almost one of everything! Specifically ph1 ph0 ph00 ph000.

    Stupid design from canon

It's kinda amazing how bad it seems, but if it was rivets or something instead getting loose, I'd be even more stunned, and wishing for some of these hard-to-get-to screws to at least be able to tighten. Proper lock-tite would have prevented this anyway.
