I so enjoyed her telling about her art collection. You can tell that she is someone who appreciates the act of making art. She is so right in today's world we live in a culture of "fast furniture & furnishings". You can buy art from artists in all price ranges. Invest in subject matter that speaks to you. You will never regret it.

This is my absolute favorite episode of Homeworthy. Darcie is an amazing designer, narrator and human being. The whole episode I hung onto each word and loved all the stories. Her home is as gorgeous and fascinating as she is. I just don't have the proper words to say how much I loved this tour. The art and antiques and grasscloth wallpaper. Every room feels interesting and fresh and zen. I wish we could be friends Darcie. Morocco and India are two of my favorite places and I agree about them being shopping paradises. Also, I love bats and really enjoyed the story about them being Chinese symbols of luck and happiness. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Just curious about which part she mentioned about bats being a symbol of luck and happiness in China? I might have missed it. But also I'm pretty sure bats mean bad luck in China, not good luck (I'm not Chinese but from the Sinosphere area).

Beautiful and global, and I enjoyed Darcie design theories and how she have used those theories to decorate and furnish her home. Buy and collect what you love. Every purchase does not have to break the bank. One person's junk is another's treasure ( I would love that statute.). The fact that she did not buy new furniture for her new home was amazing. Symmetry was not a spoiler or so overdone, which makes everything so boring. Love this tour; the house looked so Southern California.

Foyer French armoire … I have one very similar, which has been used as a bar and entertainment center hiding a TV, and a coat closet depending on where I was living at that time. I adore watching other designers, their personal spaces, as it was easy for me to listen to others and what they wanted in their home, assisting them along and guiding them but relying on my professional eye. ! Bravo.

Love the dining room table with the juxtaposition of your beautiful art ! Your motto of the giant art piece from Baltimore that reminds you of the universe, and the fact that it may have been done in someone’s garage is an open mind attitude of again, buy what you love regardless of the artist, just go for it and don’t worry! It’s just a fun thing! I’m very fond of driftwood, I’m half mermaid and dream of the ocean late at night and long for the wild salt air! Clam shell is precious, everything , every story, warms my heart! 😊

Futon, turn fireplace on, and cracked. Picking the stone to go along with your art! Featuring the painting in NYC, walk into gallery and your reaction. It looks like a blooming flower. Old inspiration book, how powerful of coincidence can be. Dinner in Portland. What a wonderful story. You are keeping me busy Darcy writing my comments on your beautiful homeworthy show. You will be sick of me by the time you are done walking throughout your incredibly beautiful pieces that you absolutely adorable home! Budgets are important, pieces you live can be found in a hardware store, right?! I completely concur about sticking to budgets, it doesn’t matter how much pieces cost, if you love it, if you feel it, but it.! Don’t worry if it matches or if it will fit, you can make it work anyway. Buy pieces you love, and when you walk into your space, you will love being there as everything you love in the room will wrap around you and hug you like a warm fuzzy blanket! Urban myth, nice old light fixture, oh well! It’s a great story and you should stick to it! I love you Darcy. It’s fascinating to learn and read about homes, and travel, and places in the world where you are fortunate enough to visit,. I’ve learned more by just my intuition and reading and experience and a good eye, more so than any design school I’ve attended. Of course you need to know the rules, so when you are breaking them you kind of have to laugh a little. Oh my, the light and love and laughter of your beautiful stories is so heartwarming. I’ve moved around a lot as well, sometimes I had no choice, and sometimes I pick a little tiny old stone, where I can make it a shiny diamond.

The unidentified objects on the english commode might be "Kalat" from Timor.
A kalat is a container for lime powder, made from cow or buffalo bone and topped with a carved wooden stopper.
In Timor’s ceremonies, hosts and guests share betel nut with a pinch of powdered lime, pepper and betel leaves, and a slice of the nut of the pinang palm as a sign of hospitality and goodwill.
I'm not absolutely sure, but it looks very much like it.

Lovely! That to me is the definition of “home”… filled with beloved pieces collected over a lifetime. For a home to be called a home, it needs to be loved and well lived in… this one is. Thank you for sharing.
