I just started journaling and I'm 10. most of my friends say I should try to play video games and stuff like that but I really prefer to write! It's really calming and what not.😊
I personally really don't like spirals. I also like the aesthetics of bound spines, but I purchase 180-ish pg journals so I don't have to worry about them not laying flat when I write in them. An elastic strap is a must for me! In the past I used to carry my journal with me, but now I keep my A5 journals on my bedside table and I carry around a teeny tiny A6 notebook that I can slip out and fill with thoughts whenever I need to.
Right now my ideal journal is contained within a TN because I am living abroad and have limited access to supplies. I wanted something that was more casual and portable than the project life process but still be able to document my life and have a way to archive those and take looks back at them in the future. I'm going to try the hobonichi next year as a planner/bullet journal/daily memory keeper and see how that goes. Thanks for the video!
oh sorry a TN is a Traveler's Notebook. Traveler's Factory/ Traveler's Company/ Midori (all originally the same company) started them. It's basically a piece of leather or fabric that folds around notebook inserts!
04:26 I just picked that same notebook up last week (except my cover is blue)...it's fantastic except I wish the paper was a bit thicker. LOVE how it's got lots of the 3 kinds of pages though (lined, grid and blank).
Omg I am obsessed with Markings notebooks. I have the 3 subject journal collection and now that I see the the other notebooks by them I want to get those too. Best video by far on Notebooks thank you for not making me feel weird about my style or preference in journals. LoL
Thank you for sharing what you use to journal in. I happen to use 200 page Miquelrius journals from Spain in A5 size and grid paper. They hold up well to the fountain pens I love to write with. I have never heard of the Marklings brand before. I will check them out! :)
I used to love the Miquelruis journals! However, over the years, I found the paper quality to be inconsistent. Sometimes the paper has a slightly slick feel and will slightly crinkle when painted upon with a little watercolor paints. I loved that crinkled feel and crinkly sound of the painted pages. But the paper in my latest Miquelruis (with the new logo) doesn't feel the same--it has no slickness and feels thin and cheap. It's horrible! I vowed to never to trust that company again.
What inspired you to start journaling at such a young age? Did you receive one as a gift? Did you have a role model who journaled? Did you keep those old journals?
New Subbie but I'm looking forward to your wisdom on journaling. I just purchased a new bounded to the leather cover journal from B&N and anxiously awaiting it to arrive in the mail. About a month ago, I purchased a spiral journal but the paper quality is so cheap, the pages are separating from the coils. TYFS your ideas xx
*NEW GAME!:* Take 1 shot of your favorite _adult_ beverage every time she says planner instead of journal. _/giggle_ ...I'm only trying to tease in fun! :)
I can write with the page completely sideways, which is weird, but it’s helpful in some cases haha (and the handwriting looks just as neat and fine lol)
i love journaling to i got a tip if you are to bissy then you can write your thougts on a nother day or in the weekend. that is what i always do. And i want start with two journals but what do you write in your second Journal?
You r really like me u know! I prefer large quantity of papers..spiral bound notebooks my fav ..and i don't prefer switching books too..ahhh love u!!! 😘😘
Hi Michelle! Although the majority of the journals that I've bought have sewn spines, I notice that the ones that I'll grab (without thinking) to quickly jot something down are the ones that are spiral bound. Maybe they feel more familiar--a throwback to school notebooks, so they seem less intimidating? I'm not sure, but I can totally relate to how you feel about the freedom to fold the journal covers back and flip the journal over (in either direction). Not only does it take up less space, but it feels more private, somehow. The only down side is if the spine accidentally gets bent. 😬
The perfect journal for me would be a lined, bound A5-6 notebook, with like 300 pages or more. The lines would also have to be a little thin like around 5-7 mm between each line. Ideally, 1 ribbon bookmark, pockets (I can make my own if needed), a solid colored hardcover (no fabric), and some random reference info like measurements and timezones and holidays. Elastic/penloop is nice, but not needed for me.
Hi there :) Just wanted to tell you I absolutely love your channel and your blog! You are inspiring and soothing 🙊 i bought myself a TN and i already love it. Lots of Love from France 🇫🇷

You CAN do both, you know.
Awesome! I started journaling when I was 11 and I haven't regretted a moment since. In fact, I kinda wish I'd started sooner...
Im 10 and i started when i was eight. Me and one of my best friends love writing!! Im on my 4th journal😝😄
I started journaling at 7/8 years old. My only regret is that I didn't write more.
I started at 13 !! Now iam 14 !! Iam in my 3rd journal currently!
200 pages is filled in maximum 5 months for my personal journal. I would need almost 500 pages for one year.

Munira Hoosain I'm left handed so I never like spirals
Maybe you could try Notebooks where the Spirals are on the top. Maybe that could be an option.
Same
I learned that spirals and rings are just not for me, they annoy me when I write. I also dont enjoy super white paper for some reason😅
Si Silvia same, I like the coffee colored papers
Same .. I prefer lined paper and gives the constitution paper feel
Silvia Menopiu exactly

Brilliant & helpful Michelle. Am a grid lover, in fact I dislike writing with anything else. Love your videos!!
