  • I decided to do this piece with my travel set-up as if I was standing and painting on location. For me, this means working quickly and using a minimum of materials and tools.
** Now selling my paintings on Ebay **
    Link: www.ebay.ca/sch...
    PAINTS
    1 Quinachridone Fuchsia
    2 Yellow Ochre
    3 Phthalo Blue
    4 Sepia
    5 Burnt Sienna
    6 Sap Green
My Paint Palette is simply the tray from a package of gum. It is attached with two sided tape.
The paper used for mixing is a piece of scrap watercolor paper.
The mixing tray is the packaging from a suitcase travel lock. Ingenuity when away from home.
    MATERIALS
    PAPER:
    Strathmore Sketchbook for this Video.
My papers of choice include Arches and Fabriano 140lb Hot press and Cold press paper and Strathmore 500 series Sketchbooks. All are 100% cotton rag.
For beginners, I recommend starting with a high quality paper and experimenting with different types. As your style develops, you'll get a feel for which type is best. Waiting to switch to a better quality paper later will be much like learning to paint all over again.
    Platinum Fountain pen with
    Carbon Black ink
    #10 round brush

I appreciate your labeling the paint colors on the screen as that helps, especially when you are mixing. Your style of using pen/ink and watercolors is beautiful. Your use of the flat brush was also instructive for me as I lean towards round. Time to stretch myself a bit. Thanks.

A beautiful piece. The secret seems to be in putting down the lighter washes first and then going darker.
I bought a whole lot of paints and other materials three years ago but don’t seem to have the courage to put paint to paper, even for a quick sketch. Maybe I need to be braver!
    Thanks for the lovely demonstration.

Bonjour. Très intéressant pour moi qui débute en aquarelle avec si peu de matériel. C'est très joli et en plus ; de saison. Merci pour cette séance. J'aime bien aussi la musique qui m'apporte de la détente.

I think I know where this is. Near Saugeen . I don’t believe it. We have a family cottage in Tiverton, north of Kinkardine! Your paintings and lessons got me started in watercolours and I still love to do ink and wash! Thanks.

It's hard for me to tell what pen Peter is using; but, you can go to this link: www.gouletpens.com/collections/platinum to find the Platinum fountain pens that Goulet Pens carries. For the ink, you can go here: www.gouletpens.com/collections/all-ink/products/platinum-carbon-black-ink-cartridges?variant=11884754665515 I have a Platinum Preppy and those ink cartridges fit my Preppy.

The drawing should occupy more of the screen. It's more difficult to follow along when it's small. Just my feedback. The portrait orientation just takes too much away if you include the paints.

I have enjoyed many of your videos. This one, however, was poorly recorded. The lighting was bad, the camera focus was better on your hand than on the painting, and the size of your project was very small. I didn't enjoy this video as a consequence.
