I've been watching you guys from the start. Like when you took pictures on the beach before you left.
I am so glad y'all decided to try to save your marriage and family and leave the rat race. It worked beautifully.
You guys are just a joy to watch and God has blessed your family and pulled you all closer to each other and him.
You are living and raising your children with love and happiness. Demonstrating for everyone how simple life is so rewarding 💖. Keep up the good work and God bless you all
Oh I so echo this comment! God is evident in y’all’s life!
Thanks
I agree and remember that day at the beginning when Ben has short hair and no beard.
Same! I still rewatch "finding home" sometimes! 🥰
Beautifully said! 🙏💖
Buggy is the cutest potato digger ever! My son, when he was joking with me one time, said ..."Oh Mom, I'm just kicking your knee" instead of pulling your leg. To this day we still say that. That was 50 years ago lol
Ya know we are gonna need a t-shirt that says "Woohoo! Taboes!" on it now! 🥔🥔🥔 Our family still has 'Sketti' night too! Buggy is a gem! Your new tractor is pretty awesome too, that'll help a bunch!
I second the Taboes T-shirt. Excellent idea
Great idea for a shirt 😊👍
She is the cutest potato harvester ever!! Lol. The wholesome, warm feeling I got while watching this is priceless. Great potato haul!! Thank you Hollars!!😊💜🌙
Hello how are you doing?
You have needed that tractor for ages. So happy for you that you now have one. Buggy is as cute as ever. Thanks for sharing.
I really like getting to see you both working with the kids on your farm.
Same
Some of my very earliest memories are of helping my grandparents in their garden. Well... I didn't really help much, I mostly ate sweet peas and whatnot LOL. But you know what I mean. It's awesome to see kids out in the garden, knowing where their food comes from. Learning to respect the land and all that important stuff.
She is such a good helper! I love how she loves to help in the garden, her and the boys are living the best life and they all seem to enjoy it! ❤
This was quite a satisfying vlog: tractor, ripping stuff out, hauling stuff, composting stuff, and digging for Gold.
Fantastic crop of my favorite vegetable...especially the little ones cooked with green beans and bacon or ham. Congratulations, Y'all have a Blessed day.
The tractor saves so much time and makes it much easier to do more projects that you didn't have time for because you did everything by hand.
Love watching your channel.
They will forever be Tabos! Your toddler word growing up, Meg, that became the family word for gloves was glubs. I still think of them that way in my head.....
Glubs 🤣
I didn’t plant mine in the ground because the mice or rats ate a bunch of my potatoes last year. This year I have 20 buckets and at least I know I won’t find teeth marks in them.
My motto for compost is…the more I make the less I need to buy!
Love you guys!♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
I love watching you work in the garden, especially digging up the taboes. (Hope I spelled that right, lol.) Your older sons look like men out there, helping, and your younger two are not far off. What a blessed family and a blessed life.
Been watching for 5 years now. What a change you have made to your lives. You have learned so much is in a little amount of time.
Hoohoo - taboes! awesome that you've grown that much in taters for this year! AND you are not the only family that will call them taboes from now on.
A woodchipper would turn the woody material into the brown stuff you need to offset the green from the leaves. That would make composting those trees/shrubs much easier. Pto driven chippers are expensive new but maybe you can get a second hand one, or even make one yourself 😀😀
He also has a lot of saw dust from milling his own lumber he uses that in the chicken coop. Double duty when he adds that to the compost pile as well.
Love the title. We semi live the dream. Still need our 9-5 jobs. Especially for the insurance for Bob’s chemo and surgery’s. Someday we will be able to just worry about the farm. Your channel inspires us to keep going thank you.
@LifeOnTheFarm - I am the sole caregiver for my 60 year old brother who has terminal cancer. You and Bob will be in my prayers. 🙏🏻
@@kimbenefield4996 Thank you so much. You and your brother will be in Our prayers as well.
It's so nice to see... Buggy knows more about gardening, fruits and veggies than most of the toddlers...even those who are older than her.. we have hope for the future.. such amazing harvest, the garden is better and better
Buggie knows more about where food comes from than many people I know, they just think it comes from the store. 😏
@@sandye4731 washed, chopped, prepped, ...and almost pre-chewed lol
I think back to the video where you talked about your choice to add another child to your family. Partly it was to celebrate your new life, and to raise a child who only knows this life. It was a good decision. 😁🤣. Buggy is truly a farm girl and she spreads joy and laughter wherever she goes. May the Lord continue to shower your family with blessings, and to use you to bless others. 🥰
So awesome watching you and your son on different equipment working towards a specific project. That's a new milestone for the things you can now do so much easier. Stay safe.
What gorgeous memories you just made with Buggy picking taboes, Ben & you got it on camera. That was so beautiful to watch you two picking taboes together.
Buggy is such a great helper. 🥰
That red cat is always with you when you are working at the garden beds. Cute.
Yes, you are living the dream! So happy for all of you😘
One man's invasive is another's man's abundance.
Such a joy to watch y'all grow together, as a couple, family and in down-to-earth homesteading. Your sons are great, but that little Buggy steals my heart every. single.time. Feel like a distant great aunt or something listening to her vocab development and her helping with the potatoes is so natural! She'll be your one that only can remember growing up in such a manner and no city life! May the Lord pour out His blessings and mercies both in joyful and difficult times...
Hi... Meg and Ben nice to see you love watching your videos, thank you for showing your video homestead chickens farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🐄🐖🌱🌺🌹🌻🌼🌸🌷🏡🎥👍👍👍
How lucky you are to have these special moments recorded.
buggy is blessed great life, great parents and family, great gift Janice congrats well required and will be valued and used, home grown pork, pickle and potatoes delicious meals and fresh and tasty with sauce and greens/mustard
Love watching Buggy in the garden and seeing the boys help out as well.
There are no failures only lessons learned. I enjoy watching y'all and your homesteading adventure.
Had kinda a frustrating day today. Credit card hacked car problems. But just watching Buggy in the garden brought the joy back.
Love you guys and your family. 🙏❤
Really enjoyed watching tonight :) Have a great weekend and much love to all of you !!
I thoroughly enjoy your family as you joyfully gather your harvest. Your boys are such a blessing & Buggy is the 🍒 cherry on top. God has filled your quiver beautifully. You are doing a wonderful job of preparing your family to send them out into the world as straight arrows balanced in God's abundance. Blessing to you all always. 💜💙
💙💙💙💙💜
The memories you make now are the treasures of the "later" years that make a family.
Wow that grapple looked like a dinosaur 😜. Learn something new everyday about plants from you Ben. Nice crop of potatoes, ( fun fact: my first job at 9 yrs old was picking potatoes got $1.00 a bushel and made $20.00 for the day, needless to say never again 😃). Buggy is such a good helper and so darn adorable. Blessings to all. 😊🇺🇲
Your daughter calling potatoes - taboes brings up many good memories. Our children all grown now with their own children called macaroni - macori and catsup - chepit. My husband and I still call them that and we are in our late 70's. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the good work and God bless.
I love how you research your stuff. Pros and Cons. And I love that tractor. What a wonderful new “Hank”. Fabulous “tabos”
again this video...the best helper ever!!!! I could sit and watch her all day long....she is absolutely adorable. love and hugs to you again baby girl you pick those potatoes lol
😊👍
tay-bos...lol...love that lil bug
Way to go, baby girl!
Another shirt that says, "I digg'n Taboes!" The image can have a pitchfork in the dirt with potatoes coming out and on top, holding the pitchfork is buggie.
She's such a cutie pie.
Great harvest!👍🥰
Tractors are so amazing on homesteads, so happy for you to have one now!
I tell you, hearing little Buggy talk and laugh is precious to me. I'd say you all will call potatoes "taboes" forever now! Like when my son was her age he called popcorn "pa-torn" and fruit cocktail was "fut-cottontail". 29 yrs later I still call them his baby words!! Buggy is at my favorite age of babyhood when they start talking! Bet if you rented some goats they would eat down that kudzu and other evasive weed. There's a local guy here that you can rent goats from to do just that. So you might have a local person who rents out goats for grubbing weeds. Nice taboe crop!! So proud of you all!! Do you have more to dig or is that it for this season? Dad always put ours in a couple bushel baskets after hardening off, and then in our basement that we ate on til the following spring. Meg, you should make some honeysuckle jelly. Recipes are on Google and RUclips. Easy too.
😊👍
Funny, we now always say swim cool for swim pool and allgeries for allergies. It’s been about 40 years. 🤣
I still make French Flies
@@eaccristo
Flys here are SKY RAISINS.
Bluebuddies is one of my favorites from my oldest and my youngest is 3 so he's still popping off with odd names. Mark is milk, wain is rain... These days will end, I want to carry these words everywhere!
Decades ago my sister and I pulled a match kudzu and I decided to put it on my small bush bean garden bed. So I chopped it up by using a lawnmower and I mixed it in the topsoil on half of that bed. I was amazed at how much larger and more prolific that side of the being bad was when it was time to harvest! Amazing!
Buggy is growing so fast. She is a garden baby start to finish!! You guys are doing a great job. Love it!!!
I LOVE the trays that you used to harvest / store your potatoes. It looks like they are nice and sturdy and that they ventilate well. Can you let me know where you found them? ALSO, I just ordered a 3rd function kit for my Kubota L2501. I thought I wanted a grapple bucket, but after watching your video now I know I NEED a grapple bucket. Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to tackle about 2 acres at the back of our 11 acre property that are so overgrown with blackberries we haven't figured out how to begin clearing it.
Cheers,
Tom
I was wondering where they they got those trays from too.
The trays look like soap curing trays. Not sure where she gets them from though. I got some from essential depot but mine are much bigger and bulkier.
Yes very invasive it takes over my yard I have to keep pulling the vines back. I have it pretty under control right now but it creeps up on you if you don't keep an eye out on it .
Another great educational video thank you
OMG, Buggy digging potatoes, that's epic shot!!!😍
Buggy is growing so fast, and being a great little helper , and she is as bright as a button, to use a very old saying.
Love your videos.
I can’t say enough how much I enjoy watching y’all’s vlog. How much all your babies have grown. God Bless y’all
Buggy is a gem! With your compost pile remember to never add Bermuda grass clippings to a pile. That stuff is monster grass that just keeps coming back! Glad you are enjoying your new toy!
So many blessings! Buggie’s “Wahoo” melted my heart!!
you've got to make Kudzu Jelly!!!!! You pick the flowers and it makes a very light translucent color and tastes like a cross between apple and grape jelly......YUMMY!
Nice Homesteading video of knowledge. Buggy is sooo cute. I noticed that the little one is walking around bare-foot and everyone else has boots on. I used to walk around barefoot in the garden, but after stepping on a nail and then a Ground spider who bit me, I wear shoes. Nice garden cat and kids ! Be safe garden kids !
As much as I love 😘 your tractor n compost buggie digging for potatoes was the very best of all omg,She has gotten sooooooo big n look at her go.She is a pro!!!!!!!!!Princess💕😘🙏 absolutely Beautiful Buggie
Now that you're composting in piles, rather than in little, limiting scrap wood constructed boxes, you can seriously ramp up your composting plus plant food by several volumes!
Big piles with some soil added in between layers helps build enriched soil more quickly as all materials are added together, & keep the piles moist so the billions of micro organisms plus worms & soil beetles are drawn in & then kept alive & happily proliferating with some degree of moisture present at all times.
Along with big loads of green & brown plant material, you can mix in tree based torn up cardboard, non plastic junk mail, sawdust, twigs, fall leaves, animal bedding, manure, tea bags, coffee grounds, & then put some almost broken down ingredients in big buckets of water, to let sit & build up the supply of compost tea, to water from a can but also for foliar feed to spray on your garden as it grows.
Then you'll have some sludge in the bottom of those big buckets to add back into compost pile as an accellerant while adding new layers to your compost piles.
Then, before the composting is completed, you can still fertilize with some home made compost tea!
Adding in layers of the muck at the bottom of the "tea" buckets will then help you to get smokin' hot compost piles sooner, along with healthier better fed plants.
You have the room to build new piles as needed to allow the first ones to be turned enough to give you top dressing for your fruit trees & shrubs & if fine enough, spread in a thin layer over your lawn & grazing areas in one season, to improve the soil & to accelerate the grass growing for your grazing areas. Even if some is still in the breaking down process, it will continue to leech food back into the soil over the winter months.
At the end of the growing season, considering the size of your property, you can take down & compost junk trees & trim trees back by harvesting huge piles of new brown + green materials & start other piles to get them going for the next season, with truck loads of green leaves gathered before they turn colors in the fall & drop on the ground, where you can let compost at the feet of the trees until spring when the prolific amounts of greenery returns, & you'll need the fallen leaves for a quick brown layer.
Depending on the needs of your native soil, you can buy additives too, like rock dust, blood meal & gypsum - which is a great addition for any type of clay soil. It aerated also adds fertility.
Now that’s what I call a tater tot! 😉 Great job Sister 👍🏻 And thanks for the motivation to start a new compost!
I think we all should call Buggy....Tater Tot now! 😉
Preschool toy=Fischer Price Industrial.
Learning so much from you learning.
Keep up the GREAT work.
Love the new KIOTI! Yes, y'all scored! Using all the plant life you have at your property for compost, the mulberry and the kuzu was great. Some people don't even know what is growing o the land or how to use it. Loved watching Buggie dig potatoes, she doesn't even have to bend over to pick them up. God bless you and keep on growing
Buggy is an absolute doll.
Buggy steals the show! She's a good worker like her Momma
Buggy and her tabos…absolutely precious! Loved todays vlog! Ben your really making the homestead look good…that tractor is gonna be a game changer for sure! Blessings guys-your all so inspiring!💖🙏
Hello how are you doing today?
Your new tractor is awesome and will be a great help around the homestead I am sure. Buggy is so sweet and she loves her Taboes.
What I would give to have access to all that mulberry for handmade paper!!! There may be a papermaker near you that would gladly take it!
I like that grapple for making your compost piles with Ben! Great idea. Lillianne is so cute helping her dad dig up potatoes, tayboes. Wonderful haul you guys! Thanks for this Hollars!
Ben and Buggy digging potatoes was just the cutest thing. Love seeing that special time between daddy and his princess. 🥰
God bless Janice. 🥰
Don't ever wish that you could get things done faster when they are that age just the fun of watching her picking potatoes is absolutely marvelous and of course she lost interest and you still got it done all of my kids are all grown and got their own families now but I have the memories of when they were little and they were picking maiders I love watching your Channel all of your kids are so fantastically fun and you are such an interesting Papa I love the way that you treat your wife and I love the way that she cooks absolutely awesome thank you for the enjoyment that I get daily from watching you
Kudzu (and Japanese Knotweed) is a nightmare in parts of the UK, it's considered dangerous with many councils forcing property owners to register removal/management programmes to stop it damaging neighbouring properties as its roots have damaged foundations and caused walls to collapse.
As for 'taboes' they had the nickname in our family as "Totoes", but "we" (the business dad worked for, when not mining) grew them by the ton (the average yield was more than 120ton) to sell along with onions and carrots to UK supermarkets. Even in our allotments we grew 60/70lb a year. But we needed about a third more. And like you said it always felt Christmas morning to see what had happened Underground....
Kudzu is really good for your circulatory system and the leave are extremely nutritious, more than most the other eatable plants for humans, too. One lady would make paper out of it. What about those honeysuckle, too. They are as hardy as kudzu, tho. You are really making a win, win with your decision. Next purchase - chipper? Peanuts are a dig-it crop.😁💗💕❣️
Love seeing buggy digging potatoes! I remember doing that as a child. Good memories!
What a great video to watch to motivate me to get the rest of our Russet taters dug up. I planted a 45' x 7' area and so far have gotten 100# of reds and 11#'s of Russets. Our Red's ROCKED it this year!
Buggies excitement over digging for Taboes (hope I got the spelling right, fun teaching autocorrect a thing or two, lol) it's amazing how she is blending into mother nature, gives me hope for the future. Thanks for sharing your journey and family! 🤕👍🏻🐝🫂🕊♻️🐾🐾🦋
🚜 So pleased for you all that you got a nice tractor!! 🤗
OMG that Buggy is just growing sooo fast and her personality is even grander:) Thank you so much for sharing her digging "tabos" 😘
Dang it seems like it's only been a few weeks since you planted those potatoes!!!👍🤗❤ have a great evening you guy's😊
Oh ma gawd... look at that tractor 6eat that thing up! Impressive! Thanks for the great fodder info.
Awesome potatoes harvest .!!
Daddy and Buggy digging potatoes just made my day! Love you guys!
Looking good. Keep living the dream. If it isn't quite what you want just tweak it a little. God bless your family.
Buggy's so stinkin adorable!
I had a friend who used the paper mulberry to make mulberry paper with the dried and partially pulverized plant matter. Beautiful stuff for calligraphy or bookmaking or whatever.
The potato digging segment is too precious!
It is really nice that you are back to doing frequent videos. So many of the channels I watch have reduced their output or stopped completely. I'm really enjoying seeing your little one in the garden. Blessings to you all.
I guess I'm behind times , so happy to see you have a tractor awesome blossom. Nobody deserved one more. I love you too thank you for sharing 🥰
I'm so glad you got that tractor! Bless your Hearts!
Bug/Sister will grow up and watch videos of her antics/escapades. Lovely video. thanks for sharing!
Now thats adorable her out there picking potato's!! Teaching her the right way for sure!!! 👍💞💞💖💝💖💞💞👍
Watched you before you bought this property. Wasn't sure you would make it successfully as a homesteader, but you've done great. Looking forward to see where you go from here. And best of all you're great with your children.
😊👍
Love it that you are composting instead of burning.
Absolutely beautiful so love watching Buggy thank you for sharing sending our love
Homemade compost is the best free food for your garden beds, have been making my own 40 year’s
I can attest to if you don’t kill off plants with roots your compost becomes a planter. Did not want hostas and at the time didn’t have a spot to transplant. I brutally ripped them out and when I was wishing I still had them for a new shade bed noticed the back of my compost pile turned into a hosta mound when I was turning. What a nice surprise.
You have a natural Happy potato Digger with the best little Eye for potatoes in the Dirt😊❣️❣️Buggy is such a cute, adorable little girl & yes, we all realize dad you can get the job done faster yourself but it takes a good parent do you have patience allowing a child to develop and grow and learn them selves along the way I feel like they’re contributing as well to the family.…
“BIG-G TATOR” was just Adorable❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️😊
That was quite a nice hall of potatoes just had a two rows!! My dad‘s potato bed up on the sand hill was his pride and joy along with his watermelon‘s. We were never allowed to go into that bed without him. He knew just the right time to dig another day before. He always had lush big plants that everyone came to see. The two secrets I think he had was sand manure, (which he kept a pile of back behind the barn & utilized for the garden as needed) Like you guys, our potatoes were put up in crates on shelves to dry for later use. Those are the best flavor potatoes ever. Good luck on your next crop but be proud of this one❣️❣️😊
Hello how are you doing today?
In our community garden we have the 3 year compost. First year filling, second year rest and third year lokking if we can use it otherwice an other year of rest. We do it with the leftover plants but also with our kitchen raw leftovers. G'D BLESS and greetings from Inge Noordam (the Netherlands/Europe)
I have one of those trailers too. My only issue with it is that it doesn't dump dirt or wood chips out without having to shovel a lot out. A wood chipper would probably be a good addition for your compost making experiment. I think I would focus on turning it into manure first if they will eat it. Keep up the awesome work.
Yeah - my old troy built Chipper Vac comes in reallll handy - makes wood chips, saw dust, shredded leaves - cant imagjne bein without it
So much fun to find out what's hidden in the dirt. Searching for treasure.
I love watching y'all dig the tabos. It is a super fun harvest.
That was the most precious thing ever. Little buggy with the potatoes
Buggy & Taboes. Perfection!
