- We decided to jump in and get another package of bees after someone gifted us another hive. So we’re getting them settled in their new home today. Plus muffins with fresh strawberries, and dinner.

When I was a kid, I would sit in amazement and watch the honey bees come up and fan my mom's face as she worked in her flower garden. Just like they would fan a queen in the hive. She never ever got stung. She had the same vibe as Meg. Just an incredibly tough, but sweet, woman of many talents.
The little princess is developing SUCH a stage presence. Love it!
I told my husband the opening joke, he blinked a few times, and declared he's going back to his anime. I'd say it was a good one!

Here’s Meg’s strawberry muffin recipe: Preheat oven to 400F.
4 eggs
1-3/4 cups sugar
2 cups milk
3/4 cup oil (or lard)
2 teaspoons salt
2 Tablespoons baking powder
5 cups All Purpose flour
2 - 3 cups chopped strawberries (or other fruit)
Bake 15 - 20 minutes (until golden brown)

I lived many years next door to a bee keeper. He also had a extractor. We all had lots of good honey. The bees would come to 0ur 15 by 30 ft.pool for water. You learned to not fear the bees.
A family member North of us kept bees when I was young, and we would go help collect honey a few times a year, and I've seen my mother holding the queen, covered in bees from head to toe, without a suit, and never a sting! Yes, Meg is definitely a keeper! 😄

Very cool hive design! (Random FYI - the Mrs. Coghill Farm RUclips Channel has 2 videos within the last month or so that are amazing resources for learning how to read the hives, measure progress, clean them, etc. They have 40 acres in AL and host 10 hives for a beekeeper in the area that then shares some of the honey for hosting the bees. The beekeeper did an incredible job of teaching and illustrating different facets of the process and it was amazing to see how much change occurred in 2-3 weeks as they shifted from sugar water to spring pollen, etc.)
I watched those two episodes as well. Tanya was a great teacher.
I find your venture into beekeeping very interesting….it will be very educational for those of us that know nothing about bees🤗! Little Buggie is so full of life and loves to help. She’s a little sweetheart 💜!

The boys are caring, well behaved, handsome and very talented. Miss Buggy has stolen a large chunk of my hearth too. She is so sweet, funny, curious and really well behaved too for being a toddler. I love her curly hair, the locks are fantastic ❤ And not to forget; has a personality that reaches the viewer through the leans.

Thank you for telling us about the extra gentle honey Bees. I live in a city and I was about someday getting one hive to pollinate my garden, but my neighbors are suspicious of anything that doesn’t come from a grocery store. They complain about everything and tell me that this is the city and if I want to grow food I need to sell my house and move to the country where I won’t bother anyone.
That was an extra extra large egg. I pity the hen that laid that egg. Buggy is amazing! Every video she has grown bigger, smarter and more beautiful. What a treasure she is.

Hey…2 interesting things I know about bees: if you get stung, rub some mud on sting. Almost instantly neutralizes the pain.
When I was a kid in San Diego, the San Diego History Museum had (maybe still has) a part of a wall open from both sides so we could see an active bee hive. The inner wall was covered with plexiglass. It was sooooo cool!
Plantain will do the same.
I had almost half dead in mine. They give the Queen five nurse bees.

Meg - Ariel of the Fy Nyth channel has horizontal beehives and has a playlist titled Honey Bees. the horizontal hives were fairly new to her, though she was familiar with beekeeping from her childhood.
I think you will find her knowledge, tips and tricks useful for taking care of your new hive. She lives in the mountains of Wyoming so has low temperatures and snow for 7-8 months of the year, which means she has to insulate the hives. Ariel has split her hives and now has three active hives in just 18 months or so. She explained the use of the "doors" in detail.
Cute! Meg is a keeper, a bee keeper! Horizontal hives are better for getting the bees through the winter. The frames are deeper with no gap the bees have to "jump" to feed from in the winter. Dr. Leo prefers these hives. I think they are called Layens frames vs. Langstroth frames. Nice job with the bees Meg! Lots of eggs! Thanks for sharing your muffin recipe with us Meg!
