As a human who was raised in a legalistic Christian home, I am grateful that your children will have the opportunity to explore with critical thinking skills the options of what each person actually understands are beliefs each individual will have. I have also had some gut issues, and have reduced what I eat to those things I cook from scratch. My brother asked yesterday why I don't eat anything I don't cook from scratch, and I told him that I feel so much better when I eat things without food dye and preservatives. It doesn't mean that I can't occasionally eat those things (I did at the family reunion yesterday), but my body is happier with a cleaner diet. Please take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Harvest season will soon be upon us - I'm going to the local orchard to get strawberries this week - and that will be difficult with an expanding waistline. I need to sweep up the dog hair this morning, and prepare Sunday dinner for my family. I think we are having what my eldest calls spicy chicken today (it contains nutmeg and ginger in the breading) with a green salad. I need to grab some mint to make iced tea (none of us needs extra sugar, and the mint sweetens it enough that I don't add any to my iced tea). I love cooking meals for my family that show that I pay attention when they specifically request something.

I've had crohns disease since I was a young girl so it's all I know. I've had all but one metre of my intestine removed over the years. I also have constant kidney stones, raynauds, arthritis clotting but also near fatal bleeds, aspergers, anemia, short bowel syndrome, extensive venous damage etc etc. Twelve years ago when I was 32 my life long specialists gave me two years at the most to live which was realistic considering my extensive health history. I was unlucky to get such a mass of other illnesses and near fatal complications. I can't even remember how many times I've been resuscitated. I believe that I have not yet accomplished my full purpose so God gave me the miracle of living so far 10 years longer than expected. I already know that you have a complete understanding of what your body needs by how you talk and your other videos and that puts you at an advantage. If you ever want someone to talk to that understands just message me. I wish you all the best. Xx

Sunday mornings are for coffee and Jessica. I wish we could have a little house with small piece of land. But to have that I will have to put my kid on school and go to work. So for now I garden in containers in my rental house. So far I have been canning all the tomatoes and paste for the whole year. Farmers around me have been very generous with me and the ladies trade my skill with sewing for strawberries and greens or whatever is on season. For the last two winters I had enough produce in storage for my family of three.
I really enjoy hearing your views on religion. I’m a Christian myself, but significantly less intensely, so I find it interesting hearing from very devout and conservative people who embrace being open minded. It’s inspiring how much your faith has provided peace and guidance to you and your family.
Wow!! I loved what you said about teaching your convictions to your children but not forcing them on them! I am just atarting my family and this is the kind of wisdom I need
We homeschooled in Michigan, when our kids were older they were able to attend our local public school for non-academic classes such as Art and Band. That allowed them to participate in class activities and extracurriculars. They were also involved in our homeschool group so they had the best of both worlds.
Thank you for this Q&A! I really enjoyed your explanation regarding Christian convictions. I was raised in a Pastors home and forced to follow the convictions of my parents but didn’t understand it for myself. As a young adult and young parent I tried to find a balance, like you, and explain to my children why I followed certain things. My children are grown now and we have all grown in our own walk with the Lord. We are very close and talk about everything. I cherish that!
I have to let you know how much I enjoy your podcasts. I always feel positive and do more to make myself and my husband more sufficient from listening to your ideas. I also appreciate how you give your children a say in some of their decisions in life, but I also like how they are expected to do their share of chores in your family core. That practice has gone to the wayside for so many family settings and children don’t learn responsibility and appreciation because of it. I started listening to a podcast that I subscribed and then unsubscribed to all in the same week. They have a homesteading podcast, but all I got out of it was a feeling of depression and fear. All that was talked about was how terrible the state of the country is in and how we are going to perish if you don’t have 2 years of stock pile of food and necessities. I don’t enjoy listening to that because, if you turn on the tv, you can hear similar talk. I enjoy listening to podcasts because it lets me be selective as to what I watch. Please keep up the great work, good luck with number 8 and your family is beautiful!
My son had FPIES when he was younger. I had undiagnosed multiple sclerosis when I was pregnant with him and I'm convinced the inflammation from my body cause his allergies.
My homeschooled grandkids (age 14 & 16) wanted to try public school again last year. It lasted 7 weeks and they hated it. They had gone to public elementary school for early ed and were more than happy to leave it. They both graduated in January and finished one semester of college in May.
My children have also complained about how much school work I'm asking them to do. It's typically 1-1.5 hours. We've talked about how long a normal school day lasts vs what they're being asked to do. We also talk about homework they would be expected to complete in the evenings. Jessica, I just love how you live your faith in front of your family and on this channel. You have been a wonderful example of a Christian woman to me. Thank you.
My son has ulcerative colitis, a relative of your Crohn’s disease. He maintains a very strict regimen and essentially, eats no “white” food, I.e., flour, refined sugar, rice, potato, bread, pasta, etc. Basically, he eats protein and vegetables. His UC remains in remission. I so admire his adherence to his diet, it is difficult at times. He is fortunate that his lovely wife cooks to his needs, using for example, honey as sweetener, almond flour, etc. it was interesting to hear of your family’s dietary needs. It is not easy but you seem to juggle it well.
Thank you for taking the time to answer questions people have. I really appreciate how candid you are about things but still maintain some privacy. You look to be glowing now, so hopefully all the morning sickness is going to end soon. I really love that you have your beliefs and you have really strong convictions but you choose to guide your children instead of forcing them to follow your beliefs. I strongly believe in the approach you've taken. Thank you again for being so open, I really love that you never try to say your way is right but choose to say this is what I do. Have a lovely week.
I respect you even more having listened to you discuss your reasons for and why. thank you for sharing. you're truly an inspiration in many ways. I feel blessed to have found your channel.
Jessica you are a gift to all of us. I could listen all day. Your kids are so beautiful and kind. In another video you had mentioned how hurt you were by some comments and I thought how could anyone say or be mean to you, you are so kind. In all honesty social media has been the downside of the world, well there are some great aspects like videos from you, but for the most part the internet trolls who bully etc our children and even adults is terrible. I was lucky to raise my daughter before the internet, but I worry about my grandchildren. Don't get me wrong I live the internet for the most part. I am an avid cross stitcher and have found a whole world of fellow stitchers where we can share our stitching. Do you think your kids might like to stitch, I would be more than happy to send some supplies for you and the children.......anyways keep doing what you are doing, we love you xo
Congratulations to you and your family Jessica!! Your explanation about your children and faith truly makes me happy. As a new grandmother I will be praying that my new faith guides me to being a good person in his life.
You are absolutely wonderful! My sons all chose to sleep in one room growing up and to this day they talk multiple times a day and their children are best friends❤️❤️❤️
My oldest has allergies as well, then with my 2nd I drastically changed my lifestyle & diet , now the rest of the children are allergy free☺️ I really believe if the mother has a healthy gut the baby most likely will as well.. I love your style of cooking❤️
I can relate to you on the old farmhouse. Ours was built in 1910, and there have been two major additions. It is a bit choppy and odd. But we love living here. In the middle of Kansas, on 13 acres with chickens, a garden, fruit trees. I want so badly to raise our own beef.
I completely understand your journey to Faith. You understand that is it is a very "personal journey"....not everybody understands that. God will call upon each individual in the manor that is appropriate for their spiritual growth. That is not the same Journey for everyone. Thank you so much for sharing this it really meant a lot to me!!🙏🙏
Hi Jessica! Thanks for another fun video. It’s nice to learn more about you and your family. Continuing to put yourself and your family first is important. We will ALWAYS be here waiting for videos, so take time off to rest, when needed. ❤️ Take Care!
My son is 2 and has fpies with eggs! It was very scary. We didn’t find out until we started solids. Before we started solids he had really bad eczema and rashes on my face and I took him to the doctor and no one could help us but prescribe steroid cream which isn’t a long term solution. Once he started solids and reacted that way it then clicked in my head that the eggs I was eating everyday was passing through my milk. I felt terrible that he suffered 8 months before I cut eggs and his skin went to normal. We are praying by the time he’s 3 (which is when they said he should out grow it) that he’ll be able to eat eggs. His condition has really benefited the health of our family. We eat out less and less processed food because of it.
If you are interested in learning why your child is having issues with eggs, please look up medical medium eggs. There's a podcast and blog post on it. ❤️
Thank you for sharing. What an amazing gift you have given yourself and your children in a world where allergies, crones and colitis are common and where convenience food is everywhere. I have healed from mild colitis by eliminating certain foods including FODMAP ones. I am so grateful to have come off two medications in my early fifties. This clip has been a reminder to encourage myself on how far I have come and reminds me I owe it to myself to keep eating clean so I can live a long healthy life.
I have to thank you. I too have Crohn’s and I’m off gluten, soy, processed oils and dairy. I was drinking store bought oat or almond milks and still felt awful. Saw your video using the soyabella machine. Bought one and I now make cashew milk. I think it was all those additives they add in store bought milks that was making me feel sick. I feel so much better now and and my calprotectin level is now normal. I appreciate all the information you share with us. Thank you so much?! Be well🙂 at a normal level.
Always love your Q & A’s. You never “ramble”….you have a gift for writing (on instagram) and a gift for speaking! Hopefully you will be feeling better soon 🙏🏻
Thank you, your video is such a blessing to me. I don't feel like you ramble at all, you explain things well. This video touched on so many things that can be helpful to others.
We also live in an 1800’s farmhouse, and the previous owners had a half bath added off of the kitchen downstairs. Honestly, I can’t imagine living here without one toilet on each floor 😂
Thank you for the information on the gap diet. I was diagnosed with severe colitis with recommendation of either major surgery or IV infusions. Still trying to wrap my mind around it. You have given me a place to research.
I love your videos Jessica! You are such a light in this dark world and because of that your children will be too! Praying for you and your sweet baby's health. ❤
I used to think I had a gluten allergy, but with my mindful eating experience I realized I actually had an egg and pesticide allergy! I found I can eat pasta bread and baked goo as long as they’re pesticide free
Hi Jessica. Debbie from Missouri here. You are a super woman💕💕. I pray that God blesses you and your family as you continue this pregnancy. As a 70 year old grandma and great grandma, I admire your strength and convictions. You and Adam have raised a great bunch of children. You have a very healthy Christian relationship with the Lord and he has blessed you with many beautiful children . Friends in Christ🙏🙏
You are a wonderful wise mother, raising children to love the Lord in hopes that they will make confident choices in life. And at the same time, allowing God to mold them into the children he desires them to be. ❤️
Very good Q and A Jess, I loved this one! You look great also. I know you said you are feeling very tired and I am dealing with the same this pregnancy I’m 30 years old and currently 9 weeks with our 3rd child, I’ve had 3 miscarriages as well. This pregnancy I am just feeling extremely tired some days I need a nap or I won’t make it the entire day! Praying for you during this pregnancy💜
I recognise this so much. I took more vitamine D3 and Floradix (iron supplement from fruit en vegetables), vitamine C and that helped me a lot with energy. Greetings from the Netherlands
I just love and so look forward to you weekly videos. Your explanation of these questions is so good. God bless you and keep you. See you next Sunday❤😊
Hello there, just found your channel today and subscribed. First impressions- cozy, homey, down to earth, peaceful, relatable....😊 Thanks for the Q and A, it gave me an nice overview of your life and family. I loved your thoughts about gardening and how it fits into your life, as well as your comments about your children and letting them read the Bible and come to their own convictions on non salvation issues. I think that you are showing a lot of wisdom. I'm a homeschool momma to 4 and I can tell that I am going to really enjoy your channel. God bless! 😊 Rachael F.
A great video. Your explanation on your convictions about head covering was wonderful. The Lord was leading, pushing, shoving me, lol, to wear only dresses or skirts many years ago, and about 7 or 8 years ago I finally decided to go "cold turkey ", and haven't looked back. However, for several years when asked why I dressed this way, which was often, I would say "they're more comfortable, they're cooler....", etc. Now I'm mature enough to say it was a conviction of the Lord.
I rarely watch q&a videos, but I love watching yours. I am not on Instagram and don't know how or if this might work, but would it be possible for you to put any of your IG q&a videos here on RUclips, so that those of us who do not have IG could enjoy those? That might also help fill some time gaps while you are taking care of yourself during your pregnancy and allow us to support during the week.
Great explanations. Christians are to united but not uniform. There will be things that God addresses to me that He doesn't to you. We just need to be sure who we are listening to. Your journey shows that. Thanks for sharing
Everyone MUST come to their own convictions on their own in order for Free Will to take place. Your ideas are like mine and I think giving your children the ability to make decisions, how to discern importance, how to honor God is VITAL when they are finally on their own. You can memorize math equations and later forget them, but if you work at solving a math problem presented in everyday situations, you learn for life. Agriculture and home economics classes in school should be the place to learn the most about math. We have gotten to a place that no one knows the steps to discern truth and wisdom. Your are making a wonderful childhood for your children - they have a loving and wise Mother!
Maybe you can consider adding a worm farm for vermicompost. I find it very good organic fertilizer for my garden. The worms would turn all your grass clippings and leaves into amazing nutrients for your garden.
I love your approach to your beliefs and your children. My mom forced me into her beliefs and it drove me away. Gradually coming back on my own but in a different way than I was raised which I feel is okay.
Q for future Q&A: What are your thoughts on canning conventional peaches (and other non-organic, in-season, bulk produce)? The cost of organic peaches is too high for me to consider canning but I'd really like to put up more fruit.
Love the Chron’s information. My husband had battled it for 20 years and I have been trying to transition into a cleaner diet but my husband had to stay on clear liquids for months at a time because he couldn’t handle any solid foods not even soups, his tract was so inflamed no texture could pass. Now any broths seem to be out of the question. I have been making bone broths for soups in order to sneak in the added support. Any recipes would be of great help to me. Thanks
I have Crohn’s myself and sometimes the bone broth is all I can do. You might be able to purée some soups and strain them for him to drink. And I know every body is different, especially Crohn’s bodies, but I found going on the AIP diet (autoimmune protocol) and avoiding preservatives helped me out. I’m making most everything from scratch now, but it’s working for me. Praying for you both 🙏
We will never enroll our children in public school but we are open to private school for our 11 year old son. He has always been a difficult child to homeschool. He has behavioral issues that affect his education. He won't do his work and doesn't care about our consequences. I think, however, that he seems to care a lot about what his peers think of him, so in a classroom environment he'll probably straighten up and do his work. This child! 😅 Lord have Mercy. It has been a struggle. About daughters and modesty - I didn't have to force anything, they watched and they followed. Young girls naturally want to be like their mother. About dating - we only allow courting in our family. Therefore they need to be old enough and they need to be supervised.
That sounds just like my daughter… she has been wanting to go to public school like her friends and I am not ok with the idea . Private school is pet expensive here.. momming is hard .
Wonderful video Jessica. God's blessings upon you and your family. You are a blessing to your family. Your children are blessed. Please pray for our family . My children grandchildren great granddaughter. T u
Gabriel’s ( I have a Gabe) allergy has everything to do with the medicine you where one...:) he will be fine... we homesool, homestead, canning, eat Whole Foods etc....
This has nothing to do with the video, I just grabbed one from your lineup because I wanted to tell you about a RUclips channel in case you aren't already aware of it. Not sure how much time you have to watch videos, but Heidi at Rain Country has some incredibly useful information that you may find helpful (or may already know). Today I watched "how to grow your own calcium" and immediately thought of your dairy-free family, and there is a LONG list of foods that contain calcium (which you may already know) including those nuts you use to make nut milk! But lots of things I never realized, like squash & parsnips & rhubarb & beans (both green & dried). She has video series on a number of other topics too, as well as videos that aren't part of a series. It's all just so down to earth & budget friendly...and she starts her videos with a bit of praise and ends them with a blessing & a Bible verse, which is really nice too.
Have you ever filled garden beds with limbs, sticks, leaves, etc. before adding soil? It reduces the amount of soil you need and retains moisture as well as providing nutrition for the plants as these items break down. It is an adaptation of a huglkultur bed from permaculture. A google search of that term will give you more info than you could ever want. It works well for us and I thought was worth mentioning. Blessings!
Thank you for this video. Your honesty and perspectives are refreshing. I pray you have a healthy pregnancy. I once wanted 8 kids, God gave me twins to start and it dropped to four. We joke that he gave us them to prepare for #3 which is where we stopped. All boys and I love them dearly but I'm always tired! LOL
What resources did you study to help you heal? I have diverticulitis and Gerd. I haven’t done a deep dive yet. However, I feel like one book contradicts another. I’ve heard of GAPS. I am not vegetarian but do not like meat.
Nice to meet you! I’m Kari and my oldest is like yours in that he has anaphylaxis for ALL nuts (and pet saliva, stools and their urine). My middle has a gluten allergy and my youngest has Hashimotos. I also have a gluten issue but my main thing is I went off my antidepressants for the same reasons you quit medicine. You can just tell when medicine begins to mess with your body & mind. I think it matters what we eat! I’m glad someone mentioned you in another RUclipsr’s video!! I don’t have a homestead (I’d call it a baby garden 🤣) but I am trying to do the homeschool thing again bc I live in Virginia where they’re integrating the trans stuff (that I surely don’t want any of my kids to learn).. so, I kind of don’t have a choice. 🤷🏻♀️ Not a hater just not what my family and I believe. I haven’t watched the whole video but I’ve seen enough to subscribe! I can’t wait to meet your family and see what you guys get into! ✌🏻♥️🙏🏻
Love your videos. Thank you for sharing. I do love the way that you let your girls make the decision of about wearing dresses when their older just like you said they really don't have the understanding and they can just be kids. I was just wondering with your raised bed being metal are they holding heat more then a wooden bed would cause it to dry out quicker and more often.

“Community Sufficient “ I love it
You are absolutely wonderful! My sons all chose to sleep in one room growing up and to this day they talk multiple times a day and their children are best friends❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your personal life. You have a beautiful family.
🙏❤️
My oldest has allergies as well, then with my 2nd I drastically changed my lifestyle & diet , now the rest of the children are allergy free☺️ I really believe if the mother has a healthy gut the baby most likely will as well.. I love your style of cooking❤️
The head covering made perfect sence to me. I understand it very well.
I so enjoyed this video! Thank you Jessica for this get to know us.
You and Adam are raising beautiful children, you should be proud!
Nice visiting with you, Jessica. Glad to see you looking so well. Hugs and lovees to the baby!
Thank you so much for sharing this it really meant a lot to me!!🙏🙏
I just love how you make everything from scratch. It’s such a good feeling
I LOVE your thoughts about your convictions and your children! ❤️
Love your answers and the heart behind them.
Be well🙂
at a normal level.
What a wonderful woman you are. God bless you and your family xx
You have great ideals. Praying for a healthy pregnancy for you. Take care and be blessed.
Your content did make sense Jessica. Very good Godly answers. Love your sweet family.
I really enjoyed listening to your q&a session, thank you take care xx🇬🇧
We also live in an 1800’s farmhouse, and the previous owners had a half bath added off of the kitchen downstairs. Honestly, I can’t imagine living here without one toilet on each floor 😂
Thank you for the information on the gap diet. I was diagnosed with severe colitis with recommendation of either major surgery or IV infusions. Still trying to wrap my mind around it. You have given me a place to research.
Having the book is so helpful.
Although I’m a completely different type of parent I like your approach on dating
You are an outstanding woman! Everyone needs someone like you in their lives! You are truly inspiring to me! 🥰
I love your videos Jessica! You are such a light in this dark world and because of that your children will be too! Praying for you and your sweet baby's health. ❤
Thank you for sharing.
You’re family is such an inspiration ♥️ I’m 38 and just over 14 weeks also ( Due Dec 9th) congratulations and prayers for renewed energy levels.
I really admire your work as a mom and wife, blessings to you and your beautiful family Jessica
Always thankful for every video you take time to make! Thank you!
Love hearing how you feel about so much. Praying for a healthy pregnancy. God's blessings to you and your family.
Oh man! I moved to small town Missouri a couple of weeks ago. Just got internet and catching up on Three Rivers! Life is good😁
A great video.
Thank you very much for all your sharing. It was a lot of important topics to cover. Blessings of health, energy and rest. Susan
Can I come over so you can ramble all you want?? Lol
No matter what you or your children wear you have a pure heart!
This was very refreshing.
You made perfect sense. Thank you ;-)
Love your videos! Having my second baby in December. So excited for a winter baby. ❄️
we call it dating with a purpose. We have such a similar belief system in our family 💖
Maybe you can consider adding a worm farm for vermicompost. I find it very good organic fertilizer for my garden. The worms would turn all your grass clippings and leaves into amazing nutrients for your garden.
Love your videos. God’s blessings
Enjoyed your Q and A. 🥰
Happy I found you.God bless you.
Love u have great day😘😘😘 ur channel! Thank you where do u get ur dresses?
Lol am sorry auto txt when I type “love” meant love ur channel.
I’m new to your channel and I am enjoying it. I too am from NW Ohio
@@craftsandcats12 I'll pray for you, Jade
@@EE-hi4re thank you so much 🙏🏼
Wonderful video Jessica.
I just love you, your family, channel and videos. 5hank you for all of your sharings and my you all always be blessed, we are praying for you all
This has nothing to do with the video, I just grabbed one from your lineup because I wanted to tell you about a RUclips channel in case you aren't already aware of it.
Well done for sharing your faith I have such great respect for you and Adam I believe the things you have shared to
Have you ever filled garden beds with limbs, sticks, leaves, etc. before adding soil? It reduces the amount of soil you need and retains moisture as well as providing nutrition for the plants as these items break down. It is an adaptation of a huglkultur bed from permaculture. A google search of that term will give you more info than you could ever want. It works well for us and I thought was worth mentioning. Blessings!
Yes. We did it to a few beds we filled this year
Thank you for this video.
Thank you Jessica for the not pushing your children into the dress code I seen first hand and if sadden me dearly
Not rambly at all. You make perfect sense to me. The wisdom of the Lord is clearly abundant in your life. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful video thank you for sharing.
Not a hater just not what my family and I believe.
I haven’t watched the whole video but I’ve seen enough to subscribe!
I can’t wait to meet your family and see what you guys get into! ✌🏻♥️🙏🏻
Hi! How did you identify that your child has hashimotos? I have Hashi myself, but didn’t know kids could get it. Thx!
I've been doing GAPS for ulcerative colitis for a few months. It has helped, but still waiting for the flare to completely go away.
That’s a miracle thank god I like this lady and her videos god bless her and her family! :-)
