I dont normally comment on YT videos but I´m going to make an exception this time. Now, I´ve seen quite a bit of voice coach reaction videos but yours really stood out. Not just because you had some insights that others who title themselves voice coaches, but you said the incredibly important key phrase: "she obviously has worked incredibly hard on her singing"... People tend to speak about god given talent, but rarely do they mention the work needed to get really good at your craft. I´m really happy you give time to acknowledge that part of it since it is so often overlooked, well done sir!
I have difficulty, myself, with any 'reactor' who seems 2 b unwilling 2 let the artist and the entirety of that performance be the focus, or b the star; I don't consider a 'vocal tutorial' the same as one who gives an honest reaction 2 what he hears---once he's actually heard it...The 'tutorial' that chops up the vocal performance, at the very least, prevents everyone from hearing & fully feeling the overall effect of the performance given.
I have, tho, no problem with a vocal tutorial, per se..just, I think there is a huge difference between reaction & a teaching tutorial, & should b labelled as such. I realize this is only my feeling & that I speak only 4 myself.

Angelina always performs barefoot
Her lack of shoes has always raised eyebrows and based on the true story of when she was 6 years old, Angelina met a homeless girl who has no shoes of her own. They spoke for a long time, after which Angelina gave that girl her own shoes and vowed never to appear on stage with shoes again until all the world’s children had them.

👍🏼 yup, Angelina was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. (Her grandmother is Iranian artist Mery Zamani.) The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes.

I like that she changed this song and make it into something not just different but interesting filled with emotions and mesmerized me with her voice. You can tell she's serious and knows exactly what she wants about her music. I hope she gets to do more music the way she wanted and not bound by whatever rules, etc. Since now that she is signed by a record company.

I have been watching Angelina since Norway’s got Talent and though life sometimes took me sideways so I missed long stretches in between, I have always come back to listening to her sing with her soul connecting heart filling voice and powerfully gentle, joyous, personality. I follow her 6 years now, since she was 7 years old and she won Norway got talent. I listen all her covers and with her smokey , raspy voice and her emotions when she sing, all covers are better than original songs. I just love her. She is amazing now and she will be huge legend one day. This performance is stuning. Even Queen Woows her performance on Twitter. Angelina is an amazingly talented and versatile singer, with a hauntingly beautiful voice! Two brilliant covers she does on RUclips that I would recommend and that really showcase her versatility are Stay and A Million Years Ago.

Believe me, there is no other singer like her. Simon Cowell was correct in saying he had never heard this version before, because Angelina rewrote it for the performance. She took the words of the lyrics she wished to use and then rearranged them, and then rearranged the music, until she was sure that both truly reflected what she wanted to achieve in her performance. I found it hauntingly beautiful.

This is a journey that will help you understand how she got to this point in her musical life. She has been honing her skills since the age of 7 when she competed in Norway's Got Talent. If you really want to see the power of Angelina you have to react to her cover of Screamin Jay Hawkins' I Put A Spell On You. It's a black and white video of her in the recording studio. Whatever cover you have heard of this song, forget it because she sets a new standard, all at the age of 9!! And on top of that, if that wasn't enough, she arranged the music for her rendition of this song!! It's great to see someone who knows what they're talking about when it comes to vocals because it solidifies Angelina's innate talent and as an artist. There's hardly anything you can listen to by Angelina that won't astound you. Just make sure it's a recording with good sound quality; there are some from concerts and rehearsals that have bad sound. Other than that, you're guarantied a great musical experience. She has never been a "child singer", but instead a real artist that happens to be a child. It's truly remarkable. With her early work, it's enough to make people doubt their grasp of reality.

she has already grown so much from the earlier recordings of when she was 6 and 7. I worry about young talent cause the music industry is brutal and has wrecked many beautifully gifted artists. If all goes well she will become a superstar possibly bringing in a new genre where there's a fusion of old jazzy-blues with very contemporary.
I think the best place to go next would be to see her Norway's Got Talent audition, where she sang a Billie Holiday song at 7. Then you'll see how amazing she was at that age. I can't hear any loud trucks at all here, unless I turn the volume up so loud that your voice would be too loud.

That was a terrific analysis of what Angelina did to this iconic rock masterpiece. She now has made it her own. And when she becomes a superstar, which I believe she will, singers will cover the Angelina Jordan version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Compare that to what Eva Cassidy did to the Judy Garland version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", which has become the standard for that song. Excellent analysis! I love how you recognized the effect of her arrangement on eventual comparisons to the original. As a fan of hers, when I heard she was doing this song I was so worried about how it would be received because so few get good reviews for attempting it even if they do it perfect. Angelina managed to not just change the arrangement but showcase her talents and style without disrespecting the original. Amazing for one so young despite her years of experience.

I just read a post from Quincy Jones he sad that Angelina is the most talented singer he worked with after Michal Jackson.Angelina manage to sing more than 5 Octaves so she can sing whatever she wants. History was made, If anyone's brave enough to do this song, in her rendition of the song & they'll be compared to her, for it's her song now. Think of it , she took a iconic classic rock opera & stripped it down & turned it into a jazzy/bluesy soulful ballad at age 13. Please support her music, CD's, iTunes, ect.. Put her on your playlist.. So many (even Disney) producers have been trying to get her to sign with them. Her & her mom just tell them no, (she wants to finish school 1st). They would just ruin her & spit her out once they made their money off of her. Her family is very protective of her, they even formed a production co. for her (Angelina Jordan inc.) She's a talent that comes by once in a lifetime maybe once every hundred years. Angie is music. She can do any genre & sound better than most originals & she's still very young too. She’s 14 as of 1-10-20. She made her outfit using the pattern of an artwork, from her grandmother's She makes several of her outfits too.
A God given voice & talent. What amazing timbre, tone, texture, vibrato & amazing rare skill of tremolo & the pitch perfect skill also ect ect.. She's very sweet, humble, giving & loving in real life too. She rearranges & composes her songs while still being respectful to the original. She has written 3-4 songs plays 4-5 instruments, speaks 3-4 languages et, etc.. .English isn’t her 1st language, it’s her 3rd. She also gives a lot to charities & helps out children who really need it.. . People will explain why she’s barefoot when she sings on stage down below in the comments.

I've been in love with her voice since her talent show performance of "Fly me to the Moon" and then "Gloomy Sunday".
I wasn't as blown away by "I put a spell on you". I don't recall why- only that it wasn't a fave.
She has such an amazing talent.
This performance gave me goosebumps. She definitely made the song her own. I only wish she would have dialed back the vocal acrobatics a smidge lol.

Sam, you are spot on. When I heard this the first (and 20th and 100th) time, my jaw just dropped. I hear Nora Jones and Amy Winehouse in there, but Angelina definitely has a style all her own. I am a 67 year old man, a former jazz musician and music teacher, and I cry every time I watch this. I hope she has managers who will have her best interests at heart and not just the money. After seeing this, I watched other videos of her on RUclips. Some were outstanding, some were OK. A big concern I have is that they are over-sexualizing her. She's 14 years old, for God's sake. Let her be a teenager and allow her to grow into the superstar she is destined to be!

Her singing puts me on a roller coaster that produces tears and smiles and gives me an emotional workout. At such a young age, she reminds me of Amira Willinghagen. Amira was discovered on Holland's Got Talent in 2013 at the age of 9. Angelina and Amira do not sing the same type of songs. Amira is generally an opera soprano singing everywhere but in the U.S. I only mention both supreme talents because they are both a part of our musical present and future among the very best. We are blessed to have such voices to give us joy in our lives when times are tough and we are down and we need something to bring our spirits around. Sam Scott, you are also a talent. Keep doing the great work you do.

I think she just turned 13/14. She sang for Norway's Got Talent at age 7, and won the contest as soon as she turned 8. She is quite remarkable. Great range; great power. When you see her singing 'I put a Spell on you' at age 9, you will not believe it.

Frfr this girl is insane. She now live in America so she can have a better shot at going big. She has already met a bunch of famous artists, but her parents try to shield her from the fame due to her young age.

Just watched this again for the umpteenth time, and there are two little moments I feel compelled to mention. That side-eye at 1:55, which makes me grin every time, and that cheery wave at the end, which is just like Angelina does at the end of so many of her videos. Anyway, thanks again! :)

This genius 13yo (14 as of a few days ago) arranged this to nail a USA audience used to loudness, runs, high notes and theatrics, and she did it with spectaculer style. She is truly incredibly gifted. You are now going to enter the Angelina rabbithole; once you start looking at her volume of work (there's over 120 RUclips videos) you will not be able to stop. She started singing at 1 1/2yo (YES!), blew them away at Norways Got Talent at 7 (8 in the final), has worked with Mark Ronson, Alan Walker and others, sung for an audience of 40,000 etc etc etc etc. She sang for Quincy Jones at his 85th birthday, he called her the greatest talent he had heard since Michael Jackson. it doesn't get better than that!

I just think it is an AMAZING story of a kid who at the age of 6 had BILLIE HOLIDAY as a favorite singer, a now 14-year-old who can hit EVERY note of my favorite female singer of all time, WHITNEY HOUSTON, and who stopped wearing SHOES ON STAGE in order to bring awareness to kids all over the world who HAVE NO SHOES!!!! O YEAH, she just got the GOLDEN BUZZER the other day on Americas Got Talent for her rendition of "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY". I feel we are witnessing a REAL STAR being born. In my humble opinion, Angelina is WAY TOO GOOD for AGT and if I was her management I would say thanks but NO THANKS to AGT and move her right on into super stardom. I absolutely loved your little cerebral moment of explanation in the analysis near the end of your comments. It was spot on. That's exactly what she does, when she has a mind to. On the other hand, you mentioned Whitney Houston - she does a cover of 'I Have Nothing' in a tribute to Whitney that is just the way Whitney did it, except in her voice, and there's no problem with comparing her to the great Whitney Houston. In her home studio, just her and a backing track, at 12 years old. A one take joy to listen to.
Here's a bit of fun math for you. She's only 13 years old here. If you want to work your way backwards through her covers and originals on RUclips at the rate of one new reaction per week, not counting any she'll be putting out in the future, starting tomorrow, you'll get to her opening audition on Norway's Got Talent in the summer of 2022.
