I always hated that they made the companion go up to Peach at the end to see if she was ok but not Mario. I’m so glad they changed it so that Mario is the first person to run up to her.

The credits this time around are legitimately so heartwarming. Nintendo recognizes just how many diverse and interesting characters were packed in this game and they all got to do a final bow on stage. So awesome!
Exactly! When an evil demon queen is trying to take over the world and the people are cheering you on, the only thing Mario is serving is a boot sandwich with a side of hammer.
I'm really going to miss the original ending credits music, but the new endings credits really goes to show that they were not messing around with this remake. Bravo IS.

The glow up the final boss received is crazy. They seriously did a damn good job of upping the Shadow Queens unsettling factor between her more ethereal appearance and creepier possession scene coupled with the fact that the shadows spreading across the land are shaped like hands now.
Not to mention the revamped lighting and sound, with the dark flames casting the whole chamber in an eerie glow, and the somber piano that kicks in as Peach is possessed, and the music just going much harder than the original in general.

I don't like what they did to the beginning phases. It's SUPPOSED to sound slow and foreboding, eery like. They overproduced it and some of the soundtrack just feels like that in general. The subtlety of the original OST kind of feels lost when devs constantly try to do everything they possibly can to remix the song in a way that sound different, no matter what the end product becomes. Sometimes you just can't make something work any better than it already has
That's honestly the reason why these final boss remixes are the only ones I actively dislike. This isn't supposed to sound badass it's supposed to sound alien and unnerving. And the "we believe in you Mario" sequence goes from inspiring and uplifting to completely over the top.
Tell me about it. Shadow queen is my favorite Villain of paper Mario, she the most intimidating and terrifying queen you do not want to mess around with😈
To me, she felt less impactful. There could've been more screams and more emotion for a more authentic feel to the original. She still is very badass. The original felt so much more threatening to me, but this one is just more disturbing. I love the remake just as much as the original.
I do like the little touchs in the cutscene of the Crystal Stars, like Beldam appearing to be yelling for the voices to silence and other missing NPCs reacting to the stars like in Rougeport. Just nice little details and also the song when the crystal stars go off is a major banger in its new instrumentation
But you don’t get the 1 Star Point anymore. I’m not a very nitpicky guy when it comes to Mario remakes but… it really bothers me for some reason that they changed that.

I think you get 200 coins regardless. I died to the shadow queen twice and only survived cuz of a large stock of life mushrooms.... she did a shit ton of damage to Mario and Vivian and I still got 200 coins.
I just finished the remake this weekend. They knocked it out of the park with this one, from the music to the new graphical effects. It really amped up the dark tones!
I gotta say. This remake is a true masterpiece. For so many years now, the Paper mario series has gone in a completely different direction. But now, nintendo finally answered the prayers of paper mario fans. Back in 2004, when the original game was released. I was only 6, and my brother was 8. We both loved playing the game after school and on weekends. Playing this remake made me relive part of my childhood. Thank you nintendo.
I always loved how Grodus was built up as the evil looming main antagonist of this game only to be yeeted out of existence by the very force he sought to control. It's good elaboration on just how bad the situation is.

I really wish they did without the drums and guitar for the Shadow Queen's theme, it takes away from the eeriness of her presence, but the vocal chants more than make up for it.
Same, plus I think they’re a tad too contemporary for her since she’s an ancient demon. I think more pipe organ would fit better; it would also give her more of a “creepy majestic” vibe. I think they really got inspired by King Olly’s battle themes here.

Oh my god mario is so expressive in the remake... It gives him so much personality after the modern paper mario games. Please make the next one as good as TTYD was. The idea of the cardboard world gets boring considering both CS and TOK lore is based on a stupid arts and crafts things

Alright this is sick they made my favourite ttyd character shadow queen more dramatic and uncanny this is what I was waiting for to see shadow queen in the ttyd remake
I don't like the way peach just looks neutral in the boat ending remake, while in the original, peach looked happy. Thank goodness she was surprised when there was sunshine in Rogueport

I think they increased the amount of max coins in the remake. They were pretty easy to max out to 999 in the original if I remember correctly

I really wish they did without the drums and guitar for the Shadow Queen's theme, it takes away from the eeriness of her presence, but the vocal chants more than make up for it.
Same, plus I think they’re a tad too contemporary for her since she’s an ancient demon. I think more pipe organ would fit better; it would also give her more of a “creepy majestic” vibe.
I think they really got inspired by King Olly’s battle themes here.
