I am thinking of creating an account on a fund raising platform. The money I get from youtube does not cover the cost of making these videos. This video went particularly wrong and I am very short of money from it. In all my videos I travel the cheapest way possible, usually finding the flights that Ryanair sells for £5, and I always stay in the cheapest hotel there is on booking.com that doesn't have reports of bedbugs. At no means do I ever pay out for luxury or be wasteful with my money. If you do ever see luxury pool on my channel, I have sneaked in for free. In other words any money that I receive would be spent wisely and not carelessly.
I have not set up Patreon so far on my channel as I didn't want to appear to look like I am begging. At this moment in time things have got to the point where I will have to look for alternative ways to make money and maybe move away from RUclips. I am thinking of starting Patreon so that the option is there is anyone did want to donate.
The problem with Patreon is it is not classed as a donation, I believe this is because youtubers sell tiers, which means that people are technically getting something for their money. This means that VAT has to be paid (I am not an expert on tax and I hope I have this correct) also Patreon adds their charge. The amount of charges on it are very high in total, and I feel that it is insulting to people who donate for a large amount of their money to be taken away. There are other platforms that appear to be simple donations that don't require VAT and have smaller platform charges. There are so many of them that I simply do not know which one to use.
Do you have any suggestions on the best donation platform?

Paypal. The fees are not excessive and it's simple to set up. It also remains as an option that people can use or not. And I think you'll find people will willingly donate in return for the entertainment you provide. You have over 30K subs. Even if 10% donated 1 pound that's 3000 pounds. You might have to pay tax as personal income from this but I have an idea I'll email you about that might solve that problem.
@@TechNerdNolan Don't do the YT join thing Ben. Biggest mistake you could make. I've seen others try it and all it's done is fragmented their audience and lost them subs. Those who have tried it have had only a tiny number join and even then only after they set a tiny fee. But what then happens is the people who haven't joined feel left out and like they are being forced to pay. And instead of doing that they just unsubscribe.
The better option is to keep it optional. If you read my last email to you about Egor you'll see what he's done with his 7k subs in only a handful of months and how he's done it. That is by far the most successful way to get money out of your YT subs.
Beno Start your own buisiness? It works for music youtubers like Dr. Mix and Look mum no computer. You could think of starting with a T-shirt campain to sell merch. Allthough running a buisiness is pretty stressfull, I could never be an entrepreneur. Look mum no computer also sells self designed electronic kits of modular synthesizer parts. I don’t know if it would be something for you though. I’ve heard a horrible story of a youtube buisiness venture gone wrong with the Cole and Marmalade cat channel, the owner of the cats lost his channel because his two business partners screwed him over. Patreon seems to have a shakey buisiness model according to Dave Jones from the EEVblog. He doesn’t have Patreon as he has all sorts of things that generate income for him. I think Paypal may be an option.

Just found this channel. Disbelief, great to see engineering explained, a Q&A has to be done! Abu Dhabi is cool, if you go around the back streets you'll see the sub and superstructural engineering is not ideal. Dubai they have hoards of people to watch screens. 5 or 10 guys can be employed for the price of one guy in the UK. Pay scales and job placement are based on passport origin, very hierarchical, not always best for technical ability.
Dubai Festival City has some glass generics and he hard rock cafe has an MX10 Ecodisc. Mirdif City Centre is best, why? It has the best sounding OTIS Freight Lift every because it sounds like a Train VF Drive!

The difficult thing for you Beno is the anonimity, as registering for payment from any of these require you regustering and providing real details, like UK Bank. Unless of course you go down the route of BitCoins etc. which is a risky currency.
With your knowledge, I dont think you need a third party hosting service. Surely you could host these yourself, and if necassey, just invest in some high speed ip hosting. There are companies within canary wharf, that allow you to put your own pc servers in their building and connect it up to a high speed link.
This eliminates the commision but not the anonymity, so you would need another person to be the owner of the hosted service, that is not one of your mates who travel around with you. That way they receive the money for "a friend", and host videos for "a friend"
This way, if ever the authorities from any country started investigating, you would be as in the clear as possible. Paypal and WorldPay could then be safely used.
