So I was sitting in a plane once and we were still boarding but everyone was pretty much seated- the lights on the plane all went out- they were like testing like usual. So I turn to my mom and say- do you think it’s the phalange??!! Everyone around us erupts in laughter! The timing was perfect. I felt so good to be surrounded by so many fellow friends lovers. ❤️
"Regina Phalange" is Phoebe's fake name. She uses it numerous times throughout the show. So when she needs to come up with a fake air-plane part, she calls it a "Phalange".
Regina Phalange: inventor of the aeronautic phalange. All but an airline hostess and Rachel recognize the importance of her work and know to get off a plane without a phalange!
I wouldn't fly with a plane that doesn't have a left phalange either. After I saw this Friends episode I haven't flown with any planes, because now I always ask the flight attendants whether the plane has a left phalange or not and they always say "no". When are they finally going to make a plane that has a left phalange?
hexagon523 sorry but phalange is really a bone in your finger.... There's a reason stewardesses say no there isn't and they are right. They receive training on every part of the plane so I think they would know.
thara ravishanker You seem to be under the impression that I was being serious. Well, I wasn't. It was just a joke, which should be fairly obvious to everyone.
Whoever conceived of his character and wrote those lines...and whoever cast him specifically...bravo, seriously, bravo. One of the funniest scenes in all 10 seasons.
This is the second time an iconic actor has a scene with Rachel in a plane. The first being Hugh Laurie in the final episode of season 4. Hugh Laurie and Jim Rash nailed it. Both scenes are extremely hilarious 😂
Actually, here's an interesting fact, there are things called flanges. In 1979, AA Flight 191 (McDonnell Douglas DC-10) crashed killing 273 people because the LEFT FLANGE that was holding the engine in place was damaged during a maintenance repair and subsequently caused the engine to broke away from the wing during take off.
Flange is just a round (any shape)plate with holes to join pipes or parts with bolts. Difficult to damage a flange, though not bolting the 2 flanges properly could cause trouble. But for a load carrying flange , all the load would not be carried by the flange but by a male female step design.
Can you imagine getting a tiny role on a show as massive as Friends - one of the most iconic tv series of all time, being given just 7 lines of dialogue spanning no more than a single minute...... and managing to make it one of the most standout memorable scenes ever. That's quite an achievement.
In fairness the actor was in a recurring role in That 70s Show prior to this and given his success with community and Descendents I doubt he remembers this. It is probably the equivalent of Asian Jim from the office.
In that moment in time set by Rachel, Craig had felt a rush of great deanness. He decided he shall become a dean of a small community college and never return to planes ever. 👌
MJRookieForge And since another plane passenger is Hugh Laurie, a lot of people think it's Greg House doing an accent. Aaah, Friends. The great show unifier. ~ TDG
