@ It was exactly how it worked - they had limited resources and did an exceptional good job using them. Modern emulation often can't utilize those tricks and tools, especially when there were special chips on game cards or interlaced modes and other things you could achieve knowing the original hardware
These ryzen systems are so rare in my region, ive never even seen one in person. We only have laptops and even then its really expensive compared to the comparable intel ones.
I emulated N64 using ParaLLEl up to 1080p just fine using an i5 3570 and a 1050ti. The low performance on 720p is likely due to the RAM speed cuz the same graphics run N64 just fine in the Ryzen 5000 series.

Yeah i'm using here onboard GPU.
1050ti gpu is a great way to go.
