Great way to finish off Advent! An incredible Scotch! So glad you introduced me to it! When you do this video series next year, I would like to request you mention a bit of history about each distillery. The story is part of my enjoyment. When you mentioned that Uncle Nearest Bourbon (day 3) was the 1st American distillery founded by an African American Woman, I appreciated the bourbon in a deeper way. On day 8 when we had the Famous Grouse, I knew that it comes from the Glenturret distillery - the oldest working distillery in Scotland, and I thought your other subscribers would've enjoyed that tidbit, too. I know these videos need to be brief, but I for one enjoy a sentence or two about what makes each distillery unique. Thanks and see you next year!!

I enjoyed the calendar and tasting the whiskeys. I would have preferred to hear a little about the whiskeys and the distilleries in the RUclips part. I think that would be more interesting than hearing what the guy taste. That was in the booklet.

The Deer, Bear and Moose pour was phenomenal. Maybe the commentary on this was okay for the casual drinkers but those who buy the advent calendar need more so allow me to analyze it. At 40%, the nose is surprisingly full of flavor and brings me to IHOP's strawberry syrup or candied strawberries on top of pancakes. Malty notes and tart candies sneak in under the syrupy strawberries with a dash of funk that make it all the more interesting. Upon the first sip, the silky body that is not typical of a 40% whisky is the first thing I noticed. This is followed by a complex palate of the typical caramel, vanilla whisky notes accompanied by orange blossom honey, a beautiful pollen bitterness, and a creamy berry. The finish was med-long where that orange blossom honey lingers with some black tea notes.
I understand that their advent calendars are already sold and these vids are just an extra but for the nerds like me that are actually watching these vids, a little more effort and passion would be appreciated.

I early liked this journey through various tastes. I found out I am not enthusiastic about Rye, but I really liked the Hanson Irish Whiskey & the Deer, Bear, & Moose Scotch Whiskey.

I enjoyed the calendar this year. I hope to dobit again next year. My only request is maybe talk a little more about the distilleries or the type of Whiskeys. The videos are a bit short, I'd like to see more of a deep dive to each drink.

DB&M is an excellent Scotch whisky. The fruit and malt really come out here. I think I agree with the others that the videos could have had more depth. Sure we can Google the spirit to find the details but with the short length dedicated to two boxes it tended to have less information than the spirit guide itself. Still, this was a great Advent calendar.

Saved the best for last, eh? I pretty much agree. The 2 previous Ryes that blew me away (Sagamore day 1 and Stauning Day 9) compete for best of the box, but this was hands down my favorite non-rye. The fruit aroma is quite powerful, a few drops of water bring out the more complex vanilla and malt (maybe caramel). The taste is smooth and just the right amount of heat plus thick, creamy, malty vanilla. The fruit is still there, but not so strong in the mouth as on the nose. As that complexity lingers, it narrows down to caramel and vanilla and leaves a very nice follow through. I also want to say that I very much enjoyed this whole process. There where only two whiskey's I had had before, and so it was great to try ones I would normally not because I would be too reluctant to experiment buying a whole bottle. Also, it is nice to now be able to say I have had whiskeys from Australia, Denmark and New Zealand - first for me! Thanks Flaviar!

This one was another good one. I’ve done a couple of advent calendars over the years and this one is hands down the best. I’ll be back next year!!

The dear bear moose was great. Normally a bourbon drinker but I like scotch now. The Jimmy red straight bourbon was good also

I would have appreciated more information on the distilleries and a deeper journey on the tasting notes. The videos got to the point about day 3 where I started wondering why I even bothered to watch them. For the investment in this box, I want more depth on the video than someone reading the tasting spiral in the booklet.

Hello again, from last year. I think this year's Whiskey Advent calendar was much better than last year. I had the Amber Kingdom the lost art of distillation box. And I would say I was decently impressed with its selection and I loved this last pour of whiskey. I would love to have more information on it because it is established by flavor, but that is a bit difficult and I was hoping to find a bit more information from this RUclips video. This is the first time I am watching the RUclips videos for this advent calendar as last Advent calendar was abnorantly bad. And Louie, I have to say you are just as bad as the last. You gave the exact notes that you can copy paste on any whiskey off a shelf. Caramel? Vanilla? Fruit? WHAT FRUIT!!!? Like of course they're going to taste like caramel and vanilla. I would hope that you would provide a little bit more depth to your discussion points. Flaviar, you invested a good amount into craft bottling of delicious whiskey with this last pour. Please, can you at least provide commentary videos that are longer than the time it takes me to take a piss? Thanks, I'll see you again next year!

The Deer Bear & Moose was a anticlimactic end to a rather benign tasting experience. For scotch, Iprefer more robust single malts from Islay and Skye. This was ok. I might have even rated it higher on day 11, but it was a poor choice for a closer.
Nose had crisp apple and pear. Not much else. Taste was smooth but at 80 proof that is to be expected. Nothing offered, nothing gained.
MSRP $90+ is not good value imo. There are better highland scotch options available.
I don't regret doing the advent calendar this year, and I will probably do another next year. That would be 3 straight. That said, I hope the 2025 tasting experience and samples is more like 2022 than 2023.
I was disappointed with the samples in the black calendar being mostly American and UK sourced. 2022 had multiple samples from India and Japan that introduced me to international spirits and were highlights of the experience. Also, the tasting concierges last year handled global samples with more professionalism and grace than our guide this year.
The experience last year added more value to the experience and made the purchase price easier to justify. The videos were far too limited, and there was little production value. Prime example, when transitioning from black to green, Lui says we have one more whiskey to taste. Wrong. He and the green group has one more to taste. Minor gripe, first world for sure. Just saying that the videos were short and added little value to the tasting experience. Lui could have filmed completely separate ones for each group.
All in all, I don't regret buying. I prefer these Christmas spirits over past, present, and future. I already grabbed a bottle of the Sonoma Cherry wood smoked rye (day 12) from Total Wine. This calendar will influence some other purchases in 2024. Happy holidays to all, and best wishes for 2024. Cheers!

Really frustrated that scotch was the final one. I simply dont like scotch. I end up just storing them for when my dad visits.
