Sad to see you fitted tec piggyback rear shocks, I was warned not to fit them on my triumph, horror stories like eye's shearing off, gas pressures uneven in each shock, I took it all in & went ahead and purchased a new pair (tec piggyback shocks) they never felt right, bike used to "wallow" about at rear end, not thinking for one moment it was the new shocks, I removed the swinging arm, replacing the bearings, which were not in the best of order, the rear end still wasnt correct, after 2500 miles, i removed both rear shocks and tested the pressures, one had zero pressure and the other 3llb per square inch, but with small amount of pressure it had in it, filled and buggered my good gauge with oil, cheap crap, I was warned, took no notice and paid the price, I sent tec an email got no reply, after 2 more attempts i gave in.
When I was racing in Unlimited Twins back in the 80's, there was a guy with a Yamaha XV920RJ (chain drive instead of shaft, more "Euro" styling vs Virago Custom). I fondly remember him blasting past me on my CB450T on the back straight at full chat- for some strange reason, the basic lines and architecture of this build is totally taking me back to that time. There is just something cool about a Cruiser-to-Racer conversion. Awesome!

Running the tap through the top fixing for the rear shocks?? The bolts you put in were the originals. There was metal swarf coming out the end have you just damaged the existing thread.
No mate, what came out was paint and old threadlock, no metal, I can assure you, there was no where near enough resistance on the tap for it to be cutting.

Looking great so far! One question; how are those TEC shocks? We don’t see them much here in the USA, so no experience with them. It looks like they have adjustable ride height, which is pretty nice.
They're fine buddy, I've used them on several Harleys and Triumphs in all weathers, I've never had them fail or deteriorate unduly, that's not to say others haven't had different experiences, but in my option for the money, they're the best value on the market!

I've never seen a cruiser with this type of stance and handle bar approach. I'll be interested in hearing your riding opinions for sure! At least you'll be able to lean her over quite a bit more than you could have otherwise.
Yes indeed buddy, it will ride very differently, 'quicker' steering, and a lot more lean angle.. the planned rear set foot controls will allow me to lean more forward, transferring body weight more over the front.. it shouldn't ride anything like a cruiser any more hopefully.!
Brilliant, question, with raising the rear 65mm, would that affect the front suspension at all? I wasnt sure if a stiffer spring would be needed within the forks?
The general new stance will lean more weight over the front, The forks already have aftermarket progressive springs fitted, so at the very most they may need a little preload, and i can easily turn up a range of spacer discs on the lathe to fine tune that.! and perhaps some slightly thicker oil if needed.. all for later.!
Now ive got the wheels in, i can back it off the lift and do a lock to lock check with the tank placed on.. it should clear ok, but if not the clip-ons are not mounted on the top yoke, but clamped round the fork, so i can just adjust them forward slightly.. no problem.!
