First off, fantastic video - really comprehensive analysis and information. Thank you. I just recently got a Mini 3 Pro and I'm super impressed by it. I haven't tried any night-shots yet but from everything I'm seeing, it should be very capable. I could have got the Mavic 3 but wasn't sure that'd be a good first drone - I didn't want to deal with the licensing (over 250g), increased noise, and potential for crashing an expensive bit of kit while learning to fly a drone for the first time.
While watching your Istanbul movie, comparing the Mini 3 vs Mavic 3, the thing that kept popping into my head is that the Mini 3 produces very crisp and pleasant video whereas the the Mavic 3 has a more cinematic quality and definitely better dynamic range. Sort of like the difference between really nice vacation video versus something you'd see in a movie in the theatre. With that said, some shots from the Mini 3 looked better, in my opinion.
I actually preferred the dusk/night-shots out of the Mini 3, even if it has less detail in the shadows. I think this is because your eye is drawn more to the lit parts of the scene, where the shot is focused ... I don't really care that I can't see a third row of houses in the bottom left corner. :) I was also shocked at how much more crisp the Mini 3 footage is in low-light, probably due to being able to run lower ISOs thanks to the f1.7.
Really great comparison. I think I'll end up with a Mavic 3 (or 4) at some point but until then, the Mini 3 is a killer drone for the price!

I've been going back and forth between the mini 3 and air 2s and thought this video would make me want the mavic 3 hands down but I have to say the shots from the mini look great to me. I prefer them actually.
May I ask which one do you prefer ? I am about to buy one of the two and still very hesitant, don't know which one to buy. I am not a professional videographer, just want it for when I go hiking.

Brightness changes significantly within the 10 minutes of sunset. It is a bad comparison if you do not fly both of them at the same time.

It's illegal to fly 2 at once, in the US. Prob the same there. He would need another fully licensed pilot with him.

the mini is pretty impressive. this is a fine comparison and it really shows how competent the mini is. I'm surprised it performs this well in low light with lot's of fine detail and movement. I'd expect it to be mush under these conditions with such a small sensor.

I'm stunned by this. I wanted to buy the M3 classic, but now I will first ponder about your video... the larger aperture seems to save the mini 3 pro. And if you apply Neat Video, you can get rid of 99% of the noise.

as someone who has had a Mavic 3 for 2 months (recently took it to Hawaii to get footage P.S - Traveling with it isn't bad at all) I would not think the Mavic mini 3 pro would come so close to it, if not beating it at night footage, it's amazing, Just purchased a Mini 3 pro W/ fly more combo kit tonight on offerup at a great deal that's why I'm looking at these comparisons before I did my own ;D. A superb video with such great comparison work. Amazed the mini 3 Pro is so good. I haven't flown mine in low light but sure will now. Thinking of getting the Mavic 3 once the C1 certification is out later this year.
No need to wait. Firmware update makes it operationally just fine, free signing and sending of the sticker later this year, starting gun at least in Europe is not until Jan 1 2024.

Hi Sean, best comparison I have seen so far. It shows perfectly that it really depends pretty much on what one wants to achieve. The Mavic 3 has a lot more depth what only makes sense due to its equipment. But it is absolutely fantastic what the Mini 3 is capable off. Means for me that I need both as well 😉 in the overview I get a very slight advantage for the Mini 3, even when the Mavic 3 gives more depth. But the colour range here is slightly more "my style".

As it is to be expected, the mavic 3 pro wins with the video being "fuller", but to be honest the mini 3 pro is doing a lot better than what someone might expect from it
many people prefer the footage from the mini 3 pro so "wins" is subjective to each persons own perception

This video actually helped me out a lot plus I have to say your skills are very amazing man if you really think about it the dji maverick 3 base price is $2049 usd and the dji mini pro 3 is $759 usd that’s a major difference in price so I’m my opinion it’s more worth it to get the dji mini pro to start off with since the quality is pretty on par with the dji maverick 3

did you here about since DJI firmware update for the mavic 3 fly more bundle it’s having an issue with the Digital zoom as in you have to mess with it tell it works and an issue a lot of drone pilots are having for some reason when you use the scroll wheel on the smart controller as well same thing happens…. It was because of the last DJI firmware update for some reason ….

I already have a Mini 3 Pro and I'm planning on adding a Mavic 3 Classic to my collection. Why the classic? Because I don't see why I'd pay $400 to $500 more just to have a 1/2" zoom camera. Anyway. I like the potential long flight times of both drones as I use the Plus batteries in my Mini 3 Pro. I like the cruise control feature on the Mavic 3 series as this can facilitate panning fly by shots as well as time laps shots. The larger size of the Mavic 3 also would seem to be an advantage in windy conditions and the 360 obstacle avoidance is great for sideways active tracking. Those are some of the reasons why I'm planning on adding the Mavic 3 Classic to my fleet, but that's not to say that I don't love my Mini 3 Pro. That little thing is amazing even when compared to some of the higher priced DJI drones such as the Air 2S... I used to own an Air 2 and crashed it and decided to replace it with the Mini 3 Pro and I'm glad I did. That being said though, I definitely can see a place for the Mavic 3 (Classic) in my case. I really was impressed with your comparison between the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3. I now feel that I might take the little frog out more during low light conditions even once get my hands on a Mavic 3 Classic.

I'm actually shocked that mini does THAT well under 250 grams. I've went from an Inspire one to Air and now have a Mini 3 on backorder. The Mavic captures more data to work with but it should for the price. I suspect the new air will be a mavic killer.

Brilliant video and the short (at the beginning) is 10/10. The music is just perfect. A stunning piece. As for the drones...I find my Mini 3 over processes the image and adds too much sharpening. Sometimes mushy. But this vid does a good job at getting them close. Impressively close.
The Mavic 3 clearly has better dynamic range. But apparently, to get the best low-light results out of the Mavic 3...you shouldn't shoot in Log. Put it in a normal profile and it's far less noisy. Maybe try and see if that rings true?
I struggle with focus a lot (hate how the fly app flips back to auto focus if you just slide the slider to far). How did you focus? Did you stick it on infinity or use AF?

Excellent and very informative video. I also like the music (how did you source it?). I agree with you about Istanbul. It is a magical place and full of interesting locations.
Mavic 3 with F2.8 on 4/3 sensor and Mini 3 Pro with F1.7 on 1/1.3" sensor have about identical 35mm-equivalent aperture (less than 1/4 stop difference). So no surprise here that the footage of the two drones are on par with each another. The real strength of the Mavic 3 is the tele camera for a good parallax effect you can't replicate by cropping the Mini 3.
Are you blind dude? The mavic 3 is way better even with youtube compression especially in dark areas details.. Mini 3 pro is no slouch for the price tag though.

@@fabthefab75 I am not blind. Please do not confuse the image profile with quality. Differences due to different image profiles are easily removed in post, esp. with flat profiles.

Some tremendous shots here, really. I own a mini 3 pro and was surprised how close it got to the Mavic 3, of course it does still lack that additional dynamic range and the larger lens makes the whole composition look very cinematic, certainly a worthy upgrade.

Thank you Yassine, Yes it tends to hav low signal at some points where it shouldnt have. But not always.
It's just switching frequencies in a weird way. Software can fix it and you can manually control it to get better range.
The latest firmware update fixed it for me, or at least it is much much better

From a general perspective you can say min 3 pro is better just because the price is much more affordable. Mini 3 pro is short of some great shots but does the job for most once in a while droners.

Mini 3 Pro is Amazing but Mavic 3 is just beautiful and crisp very close match but Mavic 3 Wins IMO.
I think the same but on the other hand mavic 3 is 3 times the price and don’t think mavic 3 is 3x better. Moreover, say you loose connection….you loose 2000£

Normally it qwouldnt be, but with the right skill these results are certainly chievable.
You really need to view these on a large monitor to see the proper differences

Not as easy as the M3. Its mostly the sharpness that gives it away.
Just mind bogglingly amazing footage! It was interesting to hear you say it was nerve wracking to fly around Istanbull - I love flying drones but do get very nervous when other people are about and I doubt I'd have had the nerve to film in the middle of the city - but boy was it worth it, the footage is just amazing!

Use them when it’s bright out to be able to lower your shutter speed to 1/(double frame rate). Example. Shooting 24fps frames should be 1/50 shutter speed. 60 fps 1/120

In terms of dynamic range and controlled highlights, the Mavic 3 is visibly superior. In post-production, the latitude it affords is excellent.
The Mini 3 is amazingly good for the price, and for those not interested in professional-quality, the perfect fit.
When it comes to presenting a client with a video, they're not interested in how much you paid for your drone, only the product it produces.
So the Mini 3 is the best choice for those who need nothing beyond the excellent footage it produces, whereas the Mavic 3 is the best choice for those who want (or need) more.
Ultimately, it usually boils down not to a matter of which is "best", but which is best for your particular needs.

Yeah Mini 3 is great, as long as the wind don't blow it away... (compared to the Mavic 3 that has no issues with windy days)

Hi Jerry, cheers. Apparently the ai2s is puts out a better image quality in General during the day. But if you want to shot some amazing twilight footage of your projects the Mini3 Pro is your drone, this is something you couldn't do before. Also it is VERY stable indoors and it is tiny, so if you wanna fly inside and through windows this is your drone.

actually mini 3 pro looks good enought in everything. but i would go for mavid 3 because of the omnidirectional scan. hahahah or else i have to modify the drone myself to drew 2 hole at side and change a top a back sensors possition point to the side. so it will pause if sense any objects
That would probably create issues for the control algorithm because it might think it's approaching something from a particular direction then adjust itself according to that, but really it's approaching from a different direction
