After all these years it makes sense, the plot of Shin Godzilla has parallels to Reptilicus. A tail is seen and start grows to a full creature and needs to be put down by drugging it until they can find a way to kill it, with a sequel pointed directly by focusing a part of the beast.
I was only expecting to watch 2 minutes of this but I watched the whole thing! Very good. You have really improved your pacing and weaving footage in and out of your dialogue so it didn't feel like long winded speeches. Your commentary was purely entertaining the whole way through. Didn't appreciate all those Peterson jokes. It's ok though! Sincerely, Mr. Peterson
@@omniviewer2115 in the 1998 Godzilla film, that movie had better humor than this. Why can't Reptilicus be portrayed by animatronics and stop motion, instead of puppets.

That looking thru the microscope scene was hilarious. That was last reaction I expected. It doesn't even make sense to me. I mean, is that a thing? Do ppl get surprised/scared by something and immediately hiccup and belch with a puzzled/wide eyed/cartoonish Don Knotts look on their face?
If you watch it again, you'll notice he has placed a piece of the sandwich he was eating under the scope. He sees the micro-organism thriving upon his food and realizes he's been eating them. For some people, it would seem like biting into a burger and discovering it filled with, well, maggots. Ugh, now I'm "turning" my own stomach! Sincerely, Bill
Even though this movie has more than its share of issues I think with some retweet thinking and a nice redesign reptilicus could be a worthy addition to the monsterverse
I would argue that Gamera vs Jiger and Gamera vs Zigra were both AT LEAST as bad with being blatant commercials for Expo 70 and Kamagawa Sea World, respectively.
The worst part is this has a really good set up, a group of miners discover a frozen creature underground potentially thousands of years old and capable of regenerating from the smallest of pieces into an entire creature, a scientific experiment gone wrong, and the acting is lacking, the monster is a bother, and it's practice is malice
I believe an updated Movie/remake of Reptillicus would be spectacular. It would actually looks Ike the monster on the cover art, it’s poison would actually dissolve things, and would keep it’s regenerating limbs ability but also updating his origin to make him more badass and make more sense.
Here’s how I imagine it if Legendary has the balls to add it to the Monsterverse. A highly-evolved, biologically perfected titan that’s the missing link of the Jurassic and Permian period from the deepest darkest depths of Hollow Earth. A cousin of the Warbat?
Hey, I see you have one of the first issues of Godzilla: Legends! That particular one is my most favorite since it contains two of my favorite Toho characters! Also great review by the way!
you should do a roast on an old movie called..... The beast of hollow mountain. I caught creature feather night on TCM and that was their last one. My god i wish I had gone to sleep instead....
Petersen is portrayed by Dirch Passer, arguably the biggest star in danish film history, I guess he just had to be in every movie from around this time even though a "silly" character wasn't really needed in this movie, so it is really funny to hear you bashing him!! In the danish version he even did a song: ruclips.net/video/ifEI7OlkQH8/видео.html
The slime’s ineffectiveness is because it was never originally intended to be in the film 😅 Before releasing the english version, AIP decided the monster was not convincingly scary enough (cant imagine why) and tried to up the threat level by adding the randomly-spewed goo after the fact. AIP also chose to cut a scene where the monster shows off his mad flying skillz due to it looking really, really bad 😓 (cant imagine why ruclips.net/video/zWXhkqTXsMA/видео.html ) Personally i think the flying AND the goo-spew together would have really totally absolutely without a doubt made the movie totally way better 😎 . . . But probably not 😬 hmmmm... maybe the goo, the flying, AND Peterson’s musical number? 🤔

oh Mystery Science Theater finally did this movie :D

Ironically, I'm in Copenhagen right now :D.
Really? Neat! Maybe you can shed some light on why Grayson hates it so much.

14:34 the reason is that was added to this version of the film the danish on had him flying around which is similarly poor effects wise

Reptilicus' growling roar was reused for Manda in the AIP American release of Atragon.
The Danish Cut of « Reptilicus » is far more amusing than the American one, sure hope that there’s a DVD release with both versions

Given the distance between the bridge and the river, as long as the people who fell could swim, they were probably fine. :)
