Yeah and just because someone said there’s fish in there doesn’t mean there is. For one guys like to protect their spots and mislead others. Another is just because it had fish sometime ago doesn’t mean it still does. Lakes get overfished easily once the word gets out.
This is how I got better at fishing and this is how I found you guys in the first place. Watching RUclips videos from ALL different types of anglers. Great tips.
@@OutofWORKoutdoors @OutOfWork Outdoors so actually, I took my boy out this morning and took your advice. Made a plan, rigged up four rods,( a topwater, a senko, a stand-up shaky Head with a hollow-body craw, and a lunkerhunt finesse craw with the nedhead. ) essentially I would do a series of casts with one technique for the particular bait I was casting, and then if I got no bites I would switch the technique with that particular bait,. And once I'd exhausted all the techniques and retrieves that I knew for that particular bait, I would switch to the next rod and style of bait. if I wasn't getting a bite, I would move about 30 feet down the bank or wherever the closest spot that looked like it might house bass. Then I got a fish! On blackaxx, with lightening rod medium; fast. On a shaky head stand up jig with a hollow body craw. (3/8 oz weedless, craw was hooked through tail out hollow part of mouth which allowed the craw to stand claws up, and also have a BUNCH of wiggle on the hook. ) When I got the fish, I stayed there longer. It was a pretty prime spot I think, nice big Shadow off of a bank, right at the drop off, with rock structure in water. so after a few more casts and no bikes, I did move, as I assumed there was no more bass. That was probably the big one in the area. So I really appreciate the tips and we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more videos in the future!

The things ive experienced from fishing on the jetties was. 1)if you have people all around you use live shrimp/mullet and you use artificials. My pb channel catfish was caught of 6 pound fireline the fish was 16lbs. I had catfish gear with me but not the right rods or floats for topwater catfishing. The only rod that I had that I could set up was a 4'6" Ugly stik / Pflueger president size 30 and a crappie float. Good tips in your video!
Good stuff... the one that resonates with me is changing gear after 3 attempts... as a youtuber... the painful challenges where I am tossing the same thing for 8 hours because I am determined to show I can catch a fish on even the most garbage lure... yeah... that 3 attempt life sounds good sometimes, hahaha.
I literally try every thing, this morning I went to a bay on Lake Ontario and I had to have seen like 100 fish jumping and being active so I knew there were fish there and I tried everything like soft plastics jerkbaits cranks spinners spoons and I was walking all the way up and down the bank and didn’t even get a bite after fishing from 6-9:30 AM. what can you do in this situation because I spend countless hours fishing and just can’t catch anything unless I’m panfishing with a worm witch doesn’t take much skill. It wasn’t just this time either I go fishing a couple times a week and catch quite literally nothing.
@@OutofWORKoutdoors most of the time I try for bass and pike really depends where I’m fishing but ya most days i try for bass and pike. I would be happy with catching anything tho that isn’t a bluegill Thanks for replying:)
I don’t suck but I definitely love to hear what others got to say. Don’t be afraid to learn and accept defeat sometimes. God bless you bro 🙏🏼 Good tips!
No matter how good you are. You can always learn more. Being a student of the game is very important because thing evolve in multiple directions and its really hard to keep up with things.
@OutOfWork Outdoors are you possibly jay jay who is always posting his catches on the Oklahoma fishing page? If you man you kill the striper and white bass.
On point, excellent tips! Often anglers fish too slow - literally. At least in water that is not cold. Baitfish don't take their sweet old time escaping predators. When I was a kid we'd often make a bad cast, rip the lure in fast to make another cast -- and catch a fish! Didn't put 2 and 2 together back then. And when something *does* work -- trust the system. I've often said that -- just prior to getting a nice one. I've done knot testing using free weights, and a lot depends upon what one is doing. Musky fishing has odd situations, such as line that is much thicker than the snap or vice-versa, which calls for different knots than the usual. Hard to pass a 12 inch lure through a loop to tie a Palomar knot. What has done the best with big differences between the eye thickness and line thickness are variants of the Jansik special.
Over the past two seasons and after a long hiatus from fishing (2.5 decades) fishing can be an entire relearning process. The soft plastics have really revolutionized the fishing industry. One thing I've noticed when fishing with my older experienced cousin is that your personal best catch locations for black bass seldom repeats itself. Black bass are terrartorial and if you do catch one at that location it doesn't mean that another nice size bass will be occupying that good spot in the future. Black bass are very picky and the lures you chose don't always work consistently. Having more than three or four rods with different types of lures saves time. I also don't like using the same type of lure as my cousin. Variety is the key and once you have noticed a trend, then fishing with the same setup will get those bites going. The same for the colors of your lures you choose holds true. I totally agree with you to stay away from the really expensive tackle, such as rods and reels. Focus on spending your money on diversification, variety, pratical reliabilty and maintenance costs. Newer doesn't always mean that it will make you automatically a better angler. Learn fishing techniques from a tried and true scientific level rather than the latest hot trends. Marketing catches naive and gullible fishermen, not fish. All I want out of fishing is to enjoy this hobby and to look forward to a cherished or memorable photo opportunity day for my scrapbook.
well said. newer technologies will deliver unique materials that may be lighter then ever. So don't always look away. But like you said, there are tired and true lures and equipment that will work. Example of this for us the black 10 inch worm, it worked 10 years ago and still works today. Glad i helped out a little. Thanks for the detailed response. I am sure many of the viewers will appreciated your response.
When being educated about line from a professional fisherman, I would like to hear about tensile memory, braided vs monofilament pro’s cons, colors to use when, what kind of leader line, etc. Roland Martin is a very good teacher and excellent bass fisherman.
Thanks!! Much of what you said really spoke to me and I'll be applying it next time I'm out. I really like the 3 cast idea and of course covering more water - I need to rely on my search baits a little more often.
Some times every one needs a wake up call to get them fired up and moving in the right direction. 3 casts will force you to make 3 most confidant cast and if they doesn't work. Move on to some thing else or change location. Share the video with someone who can benefit too.
Good advice. I’ve found that I have to force myself to break away from just casting the crap out of one small area and cover more water instead. Just had a decent day on a lake that I normally get skunked on when I forced myself to fish and move.
This is some really gd info, I'm new to bass fishing and I'm learning how to wrk my baits in swimming pools so I can see my technique but a video of how to use a depth/fishfindet would be great. I need to learn on how to read it and understand the difference between structure and exactly wat I'm seeing compare to where my boat is position
Good info, I’m new to fishing and definitely keep asking what am I doing wrong. Were bank fishing for now, so a little limited. As for the fish finder depth finder info, do they have portable ones? Any info is good info, thanks!
For bank fishing, moving around is a big key to success. It takes a little time and experience as to when to stay and when to go to the next spot. there are so castable depth finder out there but i don't know if they will help or not.
I agree with most of this. I am bad about fishing slow and that’s something I’m going work on in the spring. You just earned a subscriber buddy keep up the good work!
Great video! I use the Palomar knot on pretty much all my various lines and I use either P Line or Berkley Lines. What are your thoughts on the Palomar? Should I change and if so why? I also use snaps on all of my lines instead of tying straight to the lure or baits. Any thoughts on that as well? I appreciate you answering my question if you have time to do so. Have a great day.
the Palomar knot is the first knot I usually recommend to every new angler because its easy to tie. Palomar is to be avoided on fluorocarbon lines. There are many people including myself that have broken fluorocaron lines at half strength with palomar. but it is great on all other lines, just don't pull it down too tight because the line tends to cut itself by design. Leave a 1/4 tag and you should be OK. I personally avoid snaps at all cost because in my eyes its just another piece of equipment to carry and stock. I've also had snaps open up on me. There is only one snap that i do use and it is made by tactical anglers clips amzn.to/2MBE8ur.
I use the double eugene bend on everything. I only use braid and carbon now, but it has worked for me on everything i use. It is the knot to use on carbon. Difficult knot to learn but it's really the only knot you need to know. I use snaps too. ruclips.net/video/_jclBNu-R54/видео.html This is the best video on the deb knot. It starts at 4:00
I use improved clinch knot on everything. Hardly ever break off. I prefer seagur invisX line over everything. Pline tactical was good. But seemed to rot pretty quickly.
New to fishing. I bought all the gear. I watched all the tip videos, but I’ve been fishing 5 days and only caught 2 eels. I live in Arlington VA and don’t own a boat. I feel like I can’t find any good spots. I’m getting frustrated. I have a lot of people that want to fish with me but I don’t want to waste their time. Piers aren’t working. The Potomac is overcrowded on the rail. Lake Anna piers and bank haven’t gotten me anything. I feel like I’m in really bad spots. Should I use a mobile fish finder? The job and swim bait aren’t best but I feel comfortable with all lures. I feel like the fish are farther out😞
New guy here grate tips I have been fishing the central Florida lakes sens I was 8 and now at 41 I’m still trying to figure it out lol but I’m always studying the water and watching what it does a lot of people will tell me I’m wasting my time but it really makes a difference most of the lakes here in winter Haven r connected by under water locks that only fish and game or Florida water management can open but thay just about never touch them I no it may sound crazy but there’s always something different about the lake no matter how much I fish there. I hit sub like and the bell can’t wait for your next video
We also have a favorite lake too and every day it fishs different everyday. That's why we fish faster than normal to get something going quickly. Florida is still one state on our must fish. Good to know you enjoyed the video. What topics would you like to see next?
This might be a hard one but I would say the best lures to fish with off a dock I don’t have a boat and most of the lakes here in winter Haven have docks but it’s tricky because we have tons of grass and the water is under 6 feet deep where I fish I have tried everything form top water to zoom baby brush hogs and most days won’t even get a hit
focus on the edges of the grass or holes. The Senko worm is hard to beat if you fishing around docks. There are many ways to rig it too. Texas and Wacky are to more common ways but be creative.
Map the movement of the fish through the year, in 3 or 4 years you will know where and what they are doing. If you are serious about fishing the same impoundments this is the thing you do after the fishing quits making sense.
@@OutofWORKoutdoors to be honest I'm used to just going fishing (Fishing too slow) worm on a hook, or power bait, & sit. If I catch something I'm happy, if not I don't have anything to clean, & I'm good. I guess my question would be; how do you target bass, or walleye for example? If that question makes any sense.
I used to bass fish. I find what you're saying true. Structure and weather play a big part in my game. I fish for catfish bait is another big thing. Regardless of what species you're fishing for the fish will tell you what they want. And they'll also tell you what they don't want that's understandable. But I say structure and weather is huge in fishing.
OutofWORKoutdoors / First, I prefer instructional and informative fishing videos over straight fish catches. Fish catching videos have there place if there is detailed information accompanying the catch. Secondly, you were speaking as if you were out on the water with me! Two of your points practically knocked me in the back of the head like a brick. You provided a lot of food for thought. I will subscribe and watch this video over a few more times through the Nebraska winter, internalize your opinions and place them into practice. Once again, thank you for both your time and efforts to create this post.
Here I was feeling bad if I changed lures after 10 or 15 casts and here you are saying after three casts with varying retrieve styles and no bites consider moving location or change the lure. I will feel less impatient if I lose confidence in a bait after covering the area.
I deal with "Nearly Impossible" every day, haha! Tim. I grew up on Willamette River an Clackamas River near an around Oregon City an below Oregon City Falls! You know Oregon fishing? There is a cable across river below falls that limits boats from getting closer to falls! But in past we had 60-70 lb Chinook salmon leaping into the boat between my brother an me! Scary, but exciting! First fishing hog line site below falls is called "Black Point". Second hole below black point is called "Milk Men Hole" (my father worked at Mayflower Milk Co in Oregon City. Dad an I build 6 wooden salmon fishing boats). Across on West Linn side is Crown Zellerback concrete wall were Salman an big Sturgeon hole, Cool Tim
I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong I fish the same spot as a guy using the same ned rig on the same 6lb mono line (Trilene lo-vis XT). I tried all kinds of retrievals and can’t get a single bite, the guy next to me catching 10+ bass. He was there for an hour and I’ve been there for 3. (I tried a few spots before that specific spot). I also use a Palomar and Uni Knot I know that I really suck at fishing (like bottom 10% at least) and I get out-fished by first-time, beginner fisherman. I learn new tips and tricks and can’t catch anything. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
We're sitting in hog line in boats dad a I built for friend here in milkman hole, just below Oregon City Willamette River Falls behind! Looking left is huge CrownZellerback Paper co concrete retaining wall where clay barge was always tied. We use to tie off that clay barge an fish Chinook salmon 40-70+lbs (I'm not kidding) off the concrete wall on West side is deep hole, we know have huge surgeon hole (over 6ft have to release)! One day, George in next boat, up in bow peeing in bucket! Dad yells, 'Fish on George"! George says, yeah right an looks back to see his pole bouncing off transom! George jumps up, through anchor line into our boat an drift down river, tiring the huge salmon out enough to bring him on board! George motors back up steam to reset in our hog line an dad yells out to George, Yeah George, look down! George looks down to see his manhood hanging out for whole river to see! I never saw anyone turn red so fast! Ed, another of dad's friends Navy signalman taped out Morse Code an if I didn't get it right he hit me in shoulder. Another friend, Oscar, had a pet doe deer that lived with him, slept in his bed, an I spend many hrs playing with that deer! Remember huge strike from salmon holding pole in one hand while doing school homework in other hand! Good Times! Tim
#4 Absolutely- I don't think I know that much, but a lot of people have asked me for advice. Every time someone says, "Can I just tie a bunch of regular knots?" I want to shove them in the lake.
@@OutofWORKoutdoors I like to keep it simple. Usually a uni/double uni knot. With braid or fluoro you just have to do two wraps around the hook eye (Fish'n Fool knot). Or a Palomar knot. Those two cover about 99% of my situations.
I haven’t caught any fish in 5 years since o started fishing. I research the lakes before I go. I research the lakes around them to check the fish behavior but I am not catching fish. I just never catch fish, I really want to serve my neighbors fresh fish but I never catch any what can I do?
Question. I live in the Miami area and have never been able to catch any fish with all types of lures. My theory is that since these fish are fished daily they immediately know it’s fake and avoid them, can this be true?
Loved the video! Great tips especially for a weekend angler like myself. I'm always trying to figure out how to outfish the guys on the lake. I mainly fish for largemouths but stripers are still as fun! California doesn't have a lot of biggens but the keepers are abundant. Keep up the great work!
There’s some Hogs in California. You just have to fish the right fisheries. New bullards Bar, Clearlake, Berryessa, Delta for instance. Some of the biggest in the country live here. Good luck out there bud. Go get a hog!
Thank you for subscribing. There is no single most/best site to go to. There may be local forums or facebook groups of that particular lake that you can join and ask questions. We typically use good maps and find out that lake has in terms on creeks and shore line cover to start off. Then we try to find youtube videos. The information can be overwhelming or nothing can come up. any thing particular you looking for?
I gave up…been fishing nearly four months and no bite no fish but I see other getting fish…I seen their lures and bought them and nothing got more fishing poles and nothing…today was it I sat there and haha grown man shed a tear. Change location change lures change bait change paste fast or slow and done
I can’t believe I spent 8 years in the army dreaming of going fishing after I got out only to have it be a waste of time every time, I hear all about peoples huge fish and catching 30 a day and every time I go I get nothing and then hear how it’s just bad that day, every day I go fishing it is always something and I get not 1 fish and I’m sick of it, I understand that it happens but it’s every single time and fishing shit isn’t cheap and it becomes a massive waste of everything
Timing can be everything. Same spot different day can be polar opposite results. Tru spending less money and more thinking about what happened on the those failed days. Try not to repeat those days based on the weather conditions.
Fishing is very rewarding once you figure it out. Its not the end results take makes us come back to this addiction. Its the journey that makes fishing fishing
I’ve been going out every weekend. With gas the way it is I go to the reservoir by my house. Not a bad one. Just like to say fish are jumping when I cast out o get absolutely zip, changing lures, mostly because others get messed up and so I have to cut and retie anyway. And I’ve gotten not one bite. Idk if it’s the rigs, or what. But I just broke a rod today.. there goes another 80 because I need at least two spinning. I tune my bait caster, birds nest. And no matter what technique. It flies and ends up birds nesting anyway. This is why I hunt and not fish. Today was probably my worst day, and a typical cuz not even a bite. Amd I’m getting reall really frustrated.
I’ve put in a lot of money into my stuff too. I don’t have the most expensive stuff; but I buy different baits amd lures for different situations amd rigs, and it’s like no matter what I do, I’m damned.
You gotta take this info with a grain of salt...Having confidence in what you're doing and having a game plan is a good idea but man, using the example of throwing a crankbait for a little bit and not catching anything doesn't mean the fish don't want a crankbait that day. Can't tell you how many times I've switched from a floating shallow running crankbait to a deep water or suspending crankbait or changed size/color or retrieve style and went from no fish to a limit with just simple changes. With crankbaits try to "Match the hatch" Match similar size and colors to what kind of bait fish are in your lake. Moving around a lot is a good thing? What about when fish aren't active? Sometimes you need to go to crawl speeds and abandon reaction baits and go to ned rig bait styles and just drag for those inactive fish. I primarily fish bass so that's what I'm referencing. Every day is different, my best tip if you're new to fishing is to just keep trying, watch videos especially tactical basin's channel. They show you how to fish just about every bait for every time of the year in every type of situation. This video is such a blanket statement on fishing and should be viewed as such. I've got 35 years of bass fishing experience and 20 years in tournaments and am still learning every time I go out on the water which is twice a week. Just like humans fish can differ day to day so educating yourself with videos on baits and times of the year and how the fish react to that time of the year will land you more fish instead of just trying to throw a line in the water, changing baits every 20 minutes and driving to new spots every 20 minutes. If you want more success catching fish go subscribe to tactical bassin's channel and check out their videos. Educate yourself instead of throwing everything in your tackle box, I think you may have better luck like that.
This video blanket statement for all anglers. Change your bait of change your location is the main point of this video. Different baits require different ways of presentation and retrieves. On blue bird days, most people would think fish slow with a worm or small jig. While some other people start stroking jigs and get reaction bites. Any then there the guys that will drop everything and start throwing slowing sinking jerk baits in the middle of summer. But you do have some good points here about baits. This video is more of the mental side of fishing. You being a veteran of the sport, you probably have 20 rods, lots of lures and fairly nice boat. Most of our viewers might only have 2 rods and maybe 5 lures types. In my experience, on any given day, covering water is always more consistent. Don't get me wrong, i don't throw crank baits to cover water all the time. On those hard days i lean towards a small swimbaits and NEDs but i still cover about the same amount of water as a regular day. Hope that clears up some things. -konerri
Your advice is so at applicable I fish for different species than yours here in Northern California Ocean salmon albacore tuna rock fish halibut inland salmon and rivers steelhead and occasionally lakes game plan number one have an a B in possibly see andBe able to adapt network with other fishermen as for confidence Bates I refer to them as go toosFish with quality equipment try not to experiment too much with other than you have confidence in good video
The fishing what you're confident in tip is crucial! If you don't think your lure/bait will catch fish, it probably won't, because you won't be fishing it well. Great vid!
While in general, these tips are good BUT some apply best to tournament fishing. For instance, you can't always fish to your strengths if you want to learn new methods. You've gotta regress before you can have progress. And in my opinion, the most versatile fishermen are generally the best fishermen.
Im hoping to get out there this weekend!!! If i see ya out there ill say hey. I always see this one older asian guy in a grey van hes always there!!! Total boss
Three cast isn't quite enough casts but I agree Confidence is way better then ego crunch time fish nothing but what you know good game plans save alot of time look at past trips or experience
its three cast per lure. change location or change the lure. do this until you run out of confidence baits/cast on a certain spot and then move on. I have found that this will force you to give you best efforts for your three casts and it will control you time wasting on the day. It will force you to cover more water and probably force you to throw things you normally won't throw in your favorite spots. Slow techniques like dragging a jib can kill a minute per cast so you better make those 3 perfect casts. haha. Confidence and speed kills it for me many times.
Just subscribes Great video. I'm wandering if you have any videos of how you break down a body of new water? I would like to see a video of you on a new lake and see what your pre-planning would be and what you look for when you get their or changes you might make. Thanks man. Going to look through your old videos also.
Like the video overall.. I disagree with the 3 attempts though. I've actually left every bait but one intentionally just to learn how to fish a bait. I do that because fishing is about patience & it's easy to say for example I want to learn spinnerbait & get irritated & take it off & go back to my go to bait.
3 attempts if you are already confident with what you are throwing. But yes, if you are not confidence then you'll need to throw that bait all day and maybe even multiple outings til you will like you got it.
There is no "spot" in fishing. Maybe for a time but fish regularly move along wherever the bait is. Find the food source, find the fish. Its pretty simple. Triggering them to bite is a whole different story. That requires experimentation.
There are common spots referred to ask community holes that will hold fish year round but like you said, fish are migratory animals. The majority will not be in that same location over the seasons. Getting basically means how patience are you???? Live bait will work 60 percent of the time.
Fishing is hard, been fishing for a year and have been getting skunked alot. I tell myself that it is all part of the process. But my confidence has been really low.
My number 1. advice....... tell them exactly what to use and how to use it. Most people won’t do what you say cause they automatically think your feeding them fish stories!
I understand confidence in baits but a good rod will make the difference in a catch versus zero catch . I would hope you would agree to that. I guess maybe I am strictly talking about bass fishing because you can get by with less sensitive equipment for other species.
Seriously, I've fished with many people from many walks of life. Some of my buddies I have concluded they will never get fishing down to the point of ok. They are just too slow and don't care enough by personality or design. For these, I don't tell them anything until they beg me, then I show them one thing only at a time. For example, my big white buddy be reeling in swimbait too fast....so I tell him to slow down. When he does, he gets hung up and gets mad at me. Another example is I tell him to cast across next to the rail. He throws it over the rail so I joking made a comment. He blames me. I had to tell him, I told you to cast next to the rail, not over the rail. It's kinda like those people you teach a simple knot to and they can never understand it, but they love fishing.
So basically what you're saying, be an open book when you need to be and prepare for what you're trying to accomplish. Not just good fishing advice, but life advice in general.
Goes hand in hand
Most important thing in fishing. Having fish where you are fishing .
1000% true. moving around will help you find it quickly if you don't have good electronics.

Outstanding video...especially for an old guy (me) who never really fished that much when young, trying to learn now...much appreciated! Subscribed!
glad i can help
What are you targeting?
@@OutofWORKoutdoors most of the time I try for bass and pike really depends where I’m fishing but ya most days i try for bass and pike. I would be happy with catching anything tho that isn’t a bluegill
Thanks for replying:)
Also when I don’t know what’s in the area I try everything try to catch something or anything, but I dont😂
Sometimes speed kills. Speeding your retrieve so the fish get a good look at it has done wonders for us some times
OutofWORKoutdoors Well said. 👍🏼
Learn something new on every trip you made even though you had a good day it’s what I always keep in mind during the drive home.
yes sir
Great video with some great advice. I tend to move slower than I know I should when it comes to fishing from the bank.
You and me both!
@OutOfWork Outdoors are you possibly jay jay who is always posting his catches on the Oklahoma fishing page? If you man you kill the striper and white bass.
nailed it on the head with one word. Confidence. good stuff brotha
Confidence is king
Sounds like you got your confidence baits and game plan down pretty good.
Great suggestion!
Excellent attitude - thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
We have plans on doing that soon. Which brand electronics are you using?
I haven't decided but my budget is 200,
new to bass fishing? Checkout my channel bro... :-)
@@luisrosario8662 a 200 budget will get a depth finder for the most part. electronics are expensive and worth their weight in gold.
Like your direct personal information. Thank you for sharing, good practical stuff.
I think a lot of anglers skip these fundamental steps. I just have to remind ourselves.

Bad knots are dream killers. lol.
I’m using a 20 pound test line on my umbrella rig in the Potomac. Is that bad?
I agree with most of this. I am bad about fishing slow and that’s something I’m going work on in the spring. You just earned a subscriber buddy keep up the good work!
thanks brother.
How do U deal with fish that bites but when u pull there no fish. I can feel the small bite but no fish
Those are likely panfish and not bass. If you are convinced they are bass, then change bait profile or add scent.
Nah I think they’re panfish. Idk there a lot of type of fish tho. Any tip of how to catch them? Lol
Thank you so much for this video, really needed the advise
been wanting to do this video for a while. thankfully it is helping people out.
advise? ummm, advice, maybe?
I use snaps too.
ruclips.net/video/_jclBNu-R54/видео.html
This is the best video on the deb knot.

"Top 5 reasons why you suck at fishing" I stop scrolling, this guy must be talking to me. But seriously, I love the advice, and am an aspiring angler.
haha. glad you stopped in then. Yeah we all start from the bottom. Any topics you'd like me to cover?
Yes, the best fishermen fish the current conditions and seasonal patterns.
Great video! Can you go over the different types of lb line you use for different applications. Also, if and how you use backing or leaders.

GREAT, Great, great Post!
Glad you like it Charles. What did you like best about it?
I will feel less impatient if I lose confidence in a bait after covering the area.
if you pay attention, 3 good casts is all it takes to get bit
Very inspiring thank you!

I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong
I fish the same spot as a guy using the same ned rig on the same 6lb mono line (Trilene lo-vis XT). I tried all kinds of retrievals and can’t get a single bite, the guy next to me catching 10+ bass. He was there for an hour and I’ve been there for 3. (I tried a few spots before that specific spot). I also use a Palomar and Uni Knot
I know that I really suck at fishing (like bottom 10% at least) and I get out-fished by first-time, beginner fisherman. I learn new tips and tricks and can’t catch anything. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong

Good Times! Tim
love hearing stories like this.
#4 Absolutely- I don't think I know that much, but a lot of people have asked me for advice. Every time someone says, "Can I just tie a bunch of regular knots?" I want to shove them in the lake.
haha. I knew I wasn't the only person. What your most confidant knot?
@@OutofWORKoutdoors I like to keep it simple. Usually a uni/double uni knot. With braid or fluoro you just have to do two wraps around the hook eye (Fish'n Fool knot). Or a Palomar knot. Those two cover about 99% of my situations.
I haven’t caught any fish in 5 years since o started fishing. I research the lakes before I go. I research the lakes around them to check the fish behavior but I am not catching fish. I just never catch fish, I really want to serve my neighbors fresh fish but I never catch any what can I do?
live bait. minnows and earth worms never hardly fail
Question. I live in the Miami area and have never been able to catch any fish with all types of lures. My theory is that since these fish are fished daily they immediately know it’s fake and avoid them, can this be true?
you need to fish your prime time hours. hour before sunrise and hour before dark.
Loved the video! Great tips especially for a weekend angler like myself. I'm always trying to figure out how to outfish the guys on the lake. I mainly fish for largemouths but stripers are still as fun! California doesn't have a lot of biggens but the keepers are abundant. Keep up the great work!
thanks man. We use to live in Fresno about 20 years ago. Where are you from?
@@OutofWORKoutdoors That's pretty cool lol. I live in Fresno
There’s some Hogs in California. You just have to fish the right fisheries. New bullards Bar, Clearlake, Berryessa, Delta for instance. Some of the biggest in the country live here. Good luck out there bud. Go get a hog!
One question I have...is there a "best source" of information about whatever particular body of water I might want to fish? Thanks in advance!
Can you do one of these for completely new fishermen
Because I suck and need help
OK, I will do one just for you.
But I’ll be back out there tomorrow I guess🙄🙄
Great video thanks 😀🎣🎣
hope it helps. the more the fish we catch the more fun it is right?
No ego fishing is the best way to learn.
thats the #1 item on the how to be better in this game.
How do I find my confident bait?
Its the one you use the most
What is crank bait ?
Great coaching tips 👍🎣
glad you liked it
Very very gooot.
Good thing you liked it. What was the best part about it?
yes please do a video on electronics
will do
You gotta take this info with a grain of salt...Having confidence in what you're doing and having a game plan is a good idea but man, using the example of throwing a crankbait for a little bit and not catching anything doesn't mean the fish don't want a crankbait that day.
-konerri
Love tactical bassin.

Good advice about knots and fishing line , lost a lot fish and lures using slippery braid to fluorocarbon with FG knot and Albright knot .
Yes the Alberto has failed me too when i thought i tied it perfectly. But FG has been 100% good for me.
The fishing what you're confident in tip is crucial! If you don't think your lure/bait will catch fish, it probably won't, because you won't be fishing it well. Great vid!
1000% AGREE
While in general, these tips are good BUT some apply best to tournament fishing. For instance, you can't always fish to your strengths if you want to learn new methods. You've gotta regress before you can have progress. And in my opinion, the most versatile fishermen are generally the best fishermen.
Versatile = consistency = wining tournaments. We will be doing this video soon too.

The Trilene mono is the best.
agreed for some cases.
what if you don't have a boat and fish the bank all the time and locations are few

Two lessons my dad gave me on fishing: fish where there are fish! 2. Use bait they like! haha tim
easily said. but some times neverly impossible to do.
I always try to catch smallies and 9/10 times I get bluegill and rock bass… better than being skunked I guess 😂
This top 5 is about me 😅
its for everybody. Did i leave anything out?
Good Stuff!

Fishing is hard, been fishing for a year and have been getting skunked alot. I tell myself that it is all part of the process. But my confidence has been really low.

wonderful to see u release those big fish, admirable....

My number 1. advice....... tell them exactly what to use and how to use it. Most people won’t do what you say cause they automatically think your feeding them fish stories!
We are getting to that next. But first we want you to open up your mind.
Confidence in the Ugly Stik ! Best advice is get something with sensitivity!
a good fishermen should be able to down grade back to their first rod and reel and still perform.
