I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Hollywood Hogan was my favorite wrestling character ever. Despite his ego that I would later learn about, and his in-ring work being mediocre at best - the look, mic skills, nWo, heel persona, all of it was just so amazing and he was so electric when the spotlight was on him. Dude caught lightning in a bottle twice (at least) and I’d take the black and white over any era or character.

As a kid growing up in the 80’s, Hulk Hogan was definitely one of my favorites.
I can remember my cousins, and I, watching Saturday Night’s Main Event when he lost the title to Andre and being really upset 😂😂.
As I got older, I kind of veered away from Hogan. Especially after he joined WCW (as I was always a WWF guy)
Regardless, without Hogan, who knows where wrestling might have gone.
It’s rare that a professional wrestler could transcend sports, and that’s exactly what he did.
Love him, or hate him, Hogan is, without a doubt, one if the most important, if not THE most important, wrestler in history.
    Looking forward to watching this!

I started pretty late to see WWE, it was in 2002, when I followed both RAW and Smackdown! I still remember Hulk Hogan from 2002 and same year I followed Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Billy Kidman... Talking about experienced ring-veteran, we still had Ric Flair in 2002 all the way to 2008 Flair's so called retirement match. I lost count on how many matches Flair wrestled after 2008. It really can't be understated just how big of a deal that heel turn at Bash of the Beach was. Younger audiences may not understand it now, but back then, it really was the catalyst for the Monday Night Wars which culminated in the single greatest era of all time in wrestling, the Attitude Era. Put simply, without the Hogan heel turn, there would be no nWo. Without the nWo. Vince isn't forced to make his product more edgier and with the 90s aesthetic. Without Vince deciding to do that, we wouldn't have gotten Stone Cold Steven Austin and the Rock.

I actually like Hogan’s run in 2000 up until bash at the beach. I thought bringing him out in Street clothes, and having him be more of a mercenary was actually really really cool and to be honest, WCW should’ve stuck with that instead of returning him to Hollywood Hogan. Also, probably the best run Hogan ever had was it from 2002 early 2003 when he had the 5 o’clock shadow, but was also wearing the red and yellow and coming to the ring to Jimi Hendrix. He was a hybrid of Hollywood Hogan and Hulkamania and it was really cool.

Finally, a fair minded documentary that gives the good and bad. Basically every commentary on Hogan the last 10 years is people dogging on the obvious lies he's told or that racist stuff he said in the privacy of a bedroom at the lowest point in his life 15 years ago. Yes, these things are to be condemned, but it's like everyone is trying to outdo one another to peacock how non racist they are or just do these hackneyed memes for likes. Hogan IS wrestling in the 80's and early 90's. Sure, there were some great supporting characters like Savage, Warrior, Taker, Bret, Shawn, Bulldog, ETC, but from 1984 to 1994, he was THE GUY. He was on the commercials. He did the late night TV shows. He did the movies (albeit they were horrendous, but they make for a funny viewing 30 years later, point is he was still a pop culture icon.) Then at 40+ years old he reinvents himself as a bad guy and has another 5 year run at the height of the Monday Night Wars. The wars end and then he AGAIN returns to WWE and has one more short run at the top in 2002-2003. Almost 20 years on the top, you really can't say that about many others. Austin, the other GOAT, had a 6 year run at the top. Rock had a 6 or 7 year run. Taker had a 30 year run but was never THE guy on level with the three guys I mentioned. Take the good with the bad with Hogan and give the man his flowers, like even Undertaker (a guy who doesn't like him personally) always does. Anybody under the age of 50 leaving him off the Mt Rushmore of wrestling in favor of guys like Cena is virtue signaling or thinking purely with emotion. The ONLY excuse is somebody much older than the average wrestling fan who was alive to watch Andre, Flair and Dusty in the 70's and saw how big they truly were before Hulk ever broke in.

1:55 Superstar Billy Graham had a much better body than Hulk Hogan. I know Jesse Ventura and Hulk Hogan stole the Superstar Billy Graham look but no one copied it better than Scott Steiner. In fact Scott Steiner took that look and dialled it up to 11

Nice to see opponents but noone can come even close to Hulk Hogan. He's sitting at the top of all wrestlers.
Stone Cold was popular wrestler in Atttude Era.
The Rock was in Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras.
And many others in many eras.
But Hogan was popular before WWE, then WWE then WCW then WWE again. He dominated all Eras. Sorry but no competition.
He's literally a living pro wrestler legend of all time. The man who helped the business to run in last 50 years.

Hulk hogan and Roman are the most overrated wrestlers of all time they were shoved down so many peoples throats. But yet old baby boomers/GenX and millennials say how cena is shoved down peoples throats they lie to everyone and get more people to hate on cena when he put more people over then any other top guy in WWE history.

Dude you old generation X baby boomers and millennials are the most annoying toxic generation and people I’ve seen y’all hate on cena saying he was shoved down y’all throats when he was losing a lot and put a lot of people over Roman and hogan are the most overrated of all time and is the worst.

@@JLWprime10 relax kid I didn’t even grow up watching Hogan I grew up watching attitude era 😂 but I’m old enough to remember the impact he had and my comment is acknowledging Cena as having the same impact so why are you crying bro? All guys who carry the company are pushed down ppls throats that’s not the problem the problem is wether ppl actually want it or not, nobody complained during hogan up until the end, nobody complained during rock/Austin EVER, ppl didn’t want to see Cena and they kept pushing, ppl didn’t want to see Roman in the beginning but they kept pushing that’s the difference

WrestleMania III was the first WWF event I ever saw on tv. They had it on the television a few weeks after it took place.
I had seen the old black and white events of television in the 70's growing up and seen the cartoon in the early 80's so I knew who Hogan was but my parents where against wrestling so I didn't get to watch anything after like 1980 or so.
